I can understand that. The first time I saw one, at an exhibition, I couldn't go past it for about a quarter of an hour. It was so sexy that barely clothed young ladies would have been asked to move aside. Then there was one across the road, visiting his mother. Ooh. Later, when I was older, someone told me about the difficulty of servicing it. That was a disappointment.
Why? The sunroof is bound to leak and wasn't stock from the factory, cuttin it into the roof of that car lowered its value significantly...and an auto trans really saps the motor of any real power, plus it's not worth as much as a stick shift....
When I saw this series for the first time I was shocked whenever Bernie began his swearing, and yelling. Now I know its his brand. His act for this program. And Mario is the quiet one. Anyways, they deliver nice products at the end.

Restoration in 4 weeks and not touching the motor. Proper east end wide boy job. An E type deserves a nut and bolt. In one scene Bernie is testing a car for filler and in the resto they are adding loads. No thanks chaps, do it properly or not at all. Yes spotted the new break discs so what else has been fudged?
@@Carrera-gp9odcosts about 120k-150k to fully buy and bolt rotisserie and series 1 e type .. trim alone costs 12 grand .. I know it’s a 2 plus 2 series 2 but still same amount of work . They’ve just tarted it up
Marlo doesn't seem to be too helpful. Bernie has to do all of the heavy lifting. Marlo overfills the carburetor damper and backs in to an engine sitting on the floor. Yikes. I really can't see how 10K covers the cost of the "restoration". Either the mechanics work for peanuts or something is amiss. I pity the person who buys this car based upon the excellent paint job. There is a tremendous amount of work that still needs to be done, such as rebuilding the master and slave cylinders, replacing ball joints, tie rods, and bushings; changing all of the fluids, replacing the rear calipers, flushing the engine, changing the water hoses, etc. Using used parts for a restoration is mind-boggling. The most expensive XKE can be a fifty year old vehicle that has not been completely overhauled.
Odds are the 14K e-type was really for sale for 25K or was just an e-type someone allowed them to film with no intention of selling it. There's a whole lot of staging on any of these shows.
@@kyleboatright7403 I believe it was staged as well, I wouldn't waste my money on that idiotic series 3 e type with the back light underneath the bumper which ruined the entire design.

I stopped watching the second he backed into the engine lying on the ground. Manufactured drama is the worst. There is zero chance that actually happened.
Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they even want to slow down all the gas pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime. Called "Bundesabgasbespaßungsverbotsverordnung" in German.... :-/((
Why oh WHY did they not jump on the very first E-type??? An E-type with a rust-free body is not to be taken for granted; in fact, it is the most important buying point. "It could be hiding lots of problems" while that is certainly no lie, it's also going to be true for every car they'll come across. When doing a resto on an E-type there are no bargains! When the choice is tidying up a basically sound chassis and changing a bunch of parts on car #1, Vs. doing all that PLUS rust repair, PLUS undoing the roof chop-job, I know what I'd choose. All the rest of it is just a pile of easily replaced parts. So why not eliminate a whole b unch of additional head-aches by spending the extra pounds on the first car? Its the chassis that needs to be rock-solid, and that was surely worth 14.500 pounds!
Buying an E type for less than 10 grand GOOD LUCK . For that money it would be a rust bucket and in bits They could have bought the first car £ 14000 is a bargin .They would have made more money without the aftermarket sunroof
I don’t like the roof at all, how much would it have been to mig a steel panel in? They would probably got that back with the interior costing less being straight across and not paying for that sun roof. Then all the purposeful dickery like backing it out with no one guiding him and messing around with the carbs for effect.
I'm reminded of why I didn't like this show. Too much obviously manufactured drama, and dodgey repairs. Who goes dumpster diving for brake rotors! Reversing in to that motor sitting beside the engine crane? Really? The cars deserve better.
I was puzzled seeing them taking items from the scrap skip which were probably worse than those on the car. They went to find a new rear end and bought a damper and what looked like rusty springs as if that would fix it. They showed no work on replacing all the rusted floor or chassis. As for the finances they just did not add up - 5 men working for a month would cost about £15000. Then plus the parts and interior which would have cost at least £12,000 so the outlay would have been £35 - £40k so selling for £30k made no sense!
Where do they make money? Details: - buy, £ 12k - spare parts, couple of thousands - work, for the mechanics it's probably a cost of 3-400 £ per day, so £15'000 minimum... And they announce only £ 20 k of costs? Thank you TV for paying it... But some people are launching businesses believing this. They do a terrible job... It's only a show and not reality !
