  • I wanted to visit England for some time now. And I kept seeing ads about England - hearing people talk about England - I'm like England is calling to me. Now is the time to go. From the bustling streets of London to the area of outstanding natural beauty of the countryside, this was a rollercoaster of memorable experiences. Each of the cities have so much to offer, and here's what happened during my time in the largest country in the United Kingdom.

A word of advice, don't come to the UK in April if you don't want rain. LOL. April showers bring forth May flowers! Spring in the UK is March, April, May. It's often wet and windy, or just extremely changeable/unpredictable.

What sort of weather do you expect when you travel at the very beginning of spring, yes it rains a lot just like northern states in the US. On the other hand summer temp's can often go into the 30s centigrade especially in the south.

Bizarre, as usual, like many tourists, you did not visit the east, called 'Anglia' where the Angles settled, the original Germanic settlers on the Island and the place where England evolved from and where it got its name from ( even though Germanic settlers were a mix of Jute, Frisian, Saxon, Franks, etc. The counties, Norfolk and Suffolk, where that Kingdom, the borders have hardly changed in 1000 years. The city is Norwich. Incredible to miss this. Missed out on that.

One of the best tourist videos of my country I have ever seen. I am now 89 next month and have lived in the far South West of England for the last 40 years. I see many changes as you go around the towns and cities that I knew, a lot more art displayed these days which is good.
Looking at the trees in your photos it's winter or just before spring - it rains here in winter and particularly spring. Rains summer too but not quite so bad and it's warmer. It is what makes our green and pleasant land. Funny though, first two places were where I lived when young, Windsor and Oxford. Bath I know and Bristol is an hour up the road from where I now live. I lived for some years in London where I met my husband 54 years ago. I would like to say you chose some very good places to go to such as Canterbury and Cotswolds, all beautiful places. Liverpool is fun, loved the football. Only went there once because I wanted to take the ferry on the Mersey. I’m glad you enjoyed your visit, I enjoyed your video as I can no longer travel, old age has got me in it’s tentacles. I will look out for further videos from you, thanks for coming to see us.

The Brits don't help themselves by perpetuating the myth that it's always raining. Some parts of the UK are indeed very wet but that is the west and North west because of the prevailing wind off the Atlantic. However London and other places in the south east England are drier than many European and US cities. I worked in Munich for a couple of years and it's far wetter than south east England. I went to the US a few years back and my wife said to a Boston local that its always raining in the UK. Boston MA has 20 inches more rain annually than the city we live in in south east England. It is however very cloudy in the UK which I think may be another factor in this misconception.

It's strange but you do know that getting wet doesn't make you ill or for that matter, make you dissolve. Imagine all those kids getting ill every single day, all day, because we played Football, proper Football, with our feet, in the rain!
A tip for anyone visiting England. If you are going to "Visit" as many Villages, Towns, Cities, in a day as possible and only look at the more famous attributes on show, just so that you can say "Been there, DONE that" and not "know" the places that you "Hit", is rather akin to trying to hit on as many women as possible in 10 days! You don't get to "Know" them, you don't get the vibe, you don't get the full ambiance, only fleeting glimpses, fleeting memories and, maybe, remember the names of some of the best sights on offer! !

But even such places on the tourist route like Stratford or York wil give a better idea of the country that stopping in London all the time.

The side of the escalator/side of the road thing isn't a contradiction. For one thing, you could say, "On the road we move forward on the left, whereas on the escalator we move forward on the left," and the contradiction disappears. But in any case, the reason is the same one: the predominance of right-handedness. In medieval times people passed each other on the road on the left-hand side so that their right hand could draw a sword should they need to, which is the origin of driving on the left-hand side. and when it comes to escalators, people who need to hold on to the handrail will mostly want to do that with their right hand.

The traffic lights are the same as the US for stopping - green, yellow, red. The difference comes for going - red, red and yellow together, green, whereas in the US it goes straight from red to green. Didn't want people coming to the UK thinking that if they see a yellow light it means get ready to go when, on it's own, it means the exact opposite. And those white cliffs at St Margarets Bay don't really do justice to the actual white cliffs of Dover. If you want to experience them close up, there are walks along the top of them, giving you good views across the English Channel.

"The weather in England kind of sucks"
It looked like you where here in winter based on what people were wearing and you know, none of the trees having leaves on them.

March .Plenty of daffodils and spring flowers .
And ,by the way ,the lush green of the UK is often noticed .
That's because of the rain ,otherwise we would be like Arizona

Wonderful video, beautifully shot, you did give very good coverage of many different cities and countryside on your visit. You travelled through a good bit of England and only got lost once. It was nice that you met some locals - chatting with the grannies at a bus stop, and that very kind motorist who gave you a lift. Pity about the rain, but come again another time and make another video for us to enjoy!

This from the Met Office... "The UK experienced 55% more rainfall than an average April, with 111.4mm." falling across the month, making it the sixth wettest April in the series and the wettest April since 2012.
Many areas recorded more than their long-term average monthly rainfall, with Scotland experiencing its fourth wettest April in a series which started in 1836. It saw 148.9mm of rainfall across the month - more than 60% of its average and the wettest April since 1947."
Thank you for a different perspective on my country. And Folkestone (pronounced Foke-stun) my nearest town for shopping...
Glad you had a good time mate. 💜☮️

We always say St Patrick's Day in the UK and in Ireland, not St Paddy's. In fact the term Paddy is sometimes regarded as an abusive term when used towards Irish people. My grandad was Irish and would not have liked to hear anyone refer to the day as anything other than St Patrick's Day,

Oh ffs, turn off the offense button. This is all we hear these days, someone forever offended and playing the oppression olympics. Even the Irish don't get offended at that. My mum's Irish and I get called plastic paddy by real Irish people and I laugh, not one bit offended by that, it's called banter. Grow a pair and stop being a little triggered pest.

      Rubbish !
      Plenty of people say
"Paddy's Day," and it's no longer thought of as a derogatory term.
If he took notice of all the woke BS that has ruined our country he would to scared to open his mouth !
