I would LOVE more info on braces and TMD - I’ve seen in your comments a few times that braces should come after treating TMD. If one needs both, does that mean two orthotics would eventually be needed (one pre-braces, one after to fit after straightening /the bite is fixed)? How long on average do you find the first phase is at a point when braces can be put on? What is TMD treatment like during braces?

Hi Doc. thank you for the informative videos. does one not need things like a palate expander, and braces, to correct the bite, after the orthotic has done its work for some months? i am just worried that the jaw can revert back into an unhealthy position after the orthotic, if the bite is not corrected. your advice highly appreciated
The bite can be corrected with phase two treatment - expansion, braces, etc - if needed.

Hi mam, my dentist (Iccmo certified) provided me an orthotic.....I found it very thick.....around 6.1mm......what do u think about this?...it's bit uncomfortable

Excellent information...I got deep bite and is suffering from tmj problem for a while..does this mean I need to correct my bite to relieve symptoms?? Thank you
No it does not! Correcting the bite after the muscles and joints are already dysfunctional will not help the muscles and joints. Treat the TMd first:
Dr Priya...i just got the orthotic. Will it help cure TMJ? I have both mornings and nights orthotics.
It depends on what your TMJ condition is and the prescription built into the orthotics. Well made TMJ orthotics should help.
I came to the dentist’s clinic wanting to fix the alignment of my teeth since I think I may have a crossbite. My upper and lower set of teeth don’t align thus I think I may need braces. After some xrays, the doctor later on diagnosed me with TMJD even though I don’t experience any jaw pain or jaw locking.
Now, I am wearing a splint so then I could wear braces.

I had the same issue and I am wearing dental orthotic. It's been 3 weeks and I see a positive change. It is expensive to get the orthotic. But it is worth the money. TMJ is so complex. I had severe balance issues and I feel I have my legs now. Still need to see Dr. for the next 10 weeks

No...as far as I was told about the treatment. I may need physiotherapy or chiropractor but no braces.
It's impossible for me to say if I have patients that are the same as you over the internet and without examining you. Sorry!

How to ask the dentist to check the bite pattern is affecting tmjd or not . I have a doubt do maxillofacial surgeons have idea on tmjd
Most dentists are not trained in treating TMD. I'd recommend seeing a skilled and experienced TMJ dentist.

Does class 2 malocclusion cause tmj problems?
Yes! Class 2 often goes hand in hand with deep bite and overjet
