Considering they are only 5 years older than the Class 390 UK West Coast Pendolinos and from the same manufacturer, its astonishing that from the look and feel there seem to be 25 years between them. The interior looks more like that from a 1980s train. Wikipedia says they were refurbished, which seems extraordinary. Even HSTs seem more modern.
The ETR485 was basically the same model as the ETR460 from 1993, with different electric systems. In that time you can clearly see Fiat ferroviaria were still figuring out how/what a hst should look/be.
In the timeline you see the development . In 1988 with the ETR450 clearly be inspired on the original 1960s shinkansen bullet train ; 1993/1997 The ETR460 & ETR485. In 1995 the ETR500 which 'looked better' and still is use in refurbished version with 25kv engines in stead of 3kv. And from 2006 the ETR600 series (after the Alsthom take over).

@@allws9683 ETR 450 came from ETR 200 and ETR 401 not from japanese shinkansen
When I heard Barry, I was expecting a trip on a pacer to Caerphilly!
I travelled from Rome to Lecce and the Lecce to Milan in this train type in early summer 2019 - spending a total of around 13 hours on them. The trains were full as it was pre-CoViD. Ironically I too had a 15 minute delay on the single section crossing the spine of Italy on my journey.
Whilst I agree with most of your comments about these sets I think you are just a bit harsh. It’s true that compared against the brilliant top league trains found in Italy these don’t show up well but comparing against 2nd tier trains in almost every other country they aren’t so bad. They just emphasise how good the other Italian high speed trains really are.
7-8 years ago I had the chance to get a ride on this train on the AV line between Naples and Rome where it maintained a sustained speed of 250 kmh, and I have to say that it was very very conformable, not even a hint of a bump, absolutely nothing like in this vid, one of the most comfortable high speed trains, together with the ETR 500.
That was the last time I took it, so idk about now. I onestly think that being pretty old they just abandoned this things a little... concentrating on the newer trains, that's pretty sad tbh
nice vid as always btw
I've been on the ETR 485 back in 2016, I didn't find it too bad but I only took if as far as Benevento and Caserta from Foggia.
Caserta has a highly regarded palace, and Benevento is a hidden gem.
Did you take the narrow gauge line to Matera, stunning city, though likely after the recent Bond film it'll be a lot more touristy.

Enjoyable video, thanks Dylan. We travelled from Arth-Goldau to Zurich some years ago on the very similar FS Cisalpino pendolino some years ago (since withdrawn) and totally agree with you about the ride quality. I also remember the rather cramped conditions and seat pitch in 2nd class. Very glad we weren't travelling long-distance in it.
Thank you for a most interesting review. I agree the ETR485s require a major refurbishment, and despite the rough riding at high speed, I find them both from a seating aspect, and the general ride quality, far better than the British IETs ! No doubt Trenitalia will arrange for these units to be upgraded soon.

Despite not the most recent trains it‘s good to have such a service on not so popular routes!
Ok it wasn't a good ride, but still looks much more comfortable than a bumpy ride on a very slow ride on a class 158 from Inverness to Thurso
I didn't find the ETR 485 too bad on the same slow line (though I too it only as far as Caserta on the slow line), however give me a rickety ride on a 158 on the far north line anyday. Just wish they had properly working plugs/USB charging points and a refreshment trolley.
Come down to try the 💩 London Overground services.

No Dylan, you're not being too harsh: that whole line is just subpar, and paying a high-speed price for a low speed travel on an old train is just not fair. On a positive note tho, the Bari-Naples line is being rebuilt, with the completion of the new section through the Appennines expected for 2026. You'll be able to do that same trip in approximately 3 hours.
As a Barese, I kinda laughed when you said that the station is far from the city centre, cause for us the city centre is exactly the area around the station. I know, it can be weird for a tourist. I get what you were saying though: it's not really close to the old town and to the sea. Oh and by the way, it is fully accessible, with lifts at every platform and escalators. You were just in the old underpass that no one uses because there's a newer, shinier and larger one on the right side of the main building.
Well, to say that the whole line is subpar seems to me to be an exaggeration. I remind you that between Bari and Foggia, even if the line is not at high speed, it is still well equipped and already allows 180 km/h and upgrading works are planned to bring it to 200 km/h. The High Speed line already exists between Caserta and Rome and, as you said, rebuilt works are underway on the line from Foggia to Caserta which will have a maximum speed of 250 km/h and will be completed in 2026. Naturally the Pendolino ETR485 is a somewhat dated and would need more maintenance, but I believe that it will gradually be replaced with more modern stock with the opening of the new line and in any case already today between Rome and Bari, in addition to the Frecciargento services, the Italo services also operate. So why always complain, as we Italians do?
I think the biggest disappointment is that the high speed experience was worse on the new high-speed line from Caserta to Rome. That track is perfect and modern, it is just the outdated train was not properly designed to mantain 250 Km/h speed. That's beyond old furbishing or small seat.
Loved seeing the Italian scenery, Dylan! I understand even pre-COVID Italian train operators are no joke. I was in Italy in 2019 and my sister and I were told to be sure to let the conductor or other train employee know IMMEDIATELY if you needed to purchase a ticket, otherwise they would assume you were trying to ride for free and you could have a nice introduction to the Italian police.
Too bad the first-class service isn't up to par.
Sounds about right! Trenitalia basically look for any excuse to kick you off in my experience.
@@DylansTravelReports shameful. Not sure if it's Trenitalia but another You Tuber that I follow had purchased an advance ticket and was denied on boarding and forced to purchase another, as he had to catch a flight at his destination. He had the original email and everything but still had to repurchase. Really horrible behavior.

@@Yep6803 - You don't need to keep spamming the same comment. And you only talk about the train. What are your comments about how unfriendly the Trenitalia staff can be? And rejecting people's valid tickets, and throwing them off the train?
Nice report as always. I did this route about 18 years ago in opposite direction and the train was basically the same, maybe even the same unit (as there was no HS line between Rome and Naples yet, it took the coastal line, which was then the main line, to just before Caserta, making it a somewhat unique experience, travelling some time along Tirrenian coast and some time along Adriatic on the same day and even on the same train). But yes, I think you were a bit too harsh. The train is 25 years old and I believe it hasn't been refurbished at all - you can still see the iron-like ornament on the overhead racks which is part of its original layout, so it's actually good to see that everything is still in working condition. Probably this train is due to refurbishment or/and moving to Greece. And while it may be rocky on the HS line, its tilting ability is invaluable between Foggia and Caserta, for the time being the only way to connect two major cities like Bari and Rome in reasonable time. Frecciarossa wouldn't make it in the same time. Everything comes at a cost. As to the delay, I think it's simply unavoidable on the single track lines as soon as they become a bit busy.
What you say definitely makes sense - you explained why these problems exist pretty well. But IMHO that doesn't mean it's OK to not keep their rolling stock in decent condition or not expand single track lines that are overly busy...
I don't think he was too harsh, uncomfortable and late trains aren't really acceptable - especially if the reasons are down to a lack of investment. It puts you in a bad position very quickly as people will stop using the line and you'll have even less money to invest so service gets even worse etc. etc.
@@EliasSchmid00 That sounds sane, but there is a high speed connection from Naples to Bari under construction which is the reason as for why the single track alignment is there. I do agree about the trains though.
Hi Dylan. I live in Bari and I often take that ride to get to Rome, so I perfectly know what happens in that Trip.
Although the bumpy ride on the old etr485 which is becoming very common on those trains (I really don’t know what’s happening!), the real problem is the old “internal” Caserta-Foggia line as you could see during the time lost for the coincidence. At the moment, a new one is under construction (they will need about 5 years to be finished, just imagine how many galleries they have to build; practically, we will have a new “Firenze-Bologna direttissima”), but the old one is just embarrassing about speeds: consulting the line papers, you will find that only the “Rango P” trains can go faster Than the ordinary ones in “Rango C”. The result is that the tilting etrs, just like the etr485 (or the Frecciargento etr600, the only other pendolino train operating in Italy, which have a top speed of 250km/h), have the “rango p” spec and they are the only trains that can go faster in that line (where they have just 2 stops, Caserta e Benevento).
If you take the same trip with the Frecciarossa 1000 which goes up to 300 km/h (just a couple of them per day took that trip from Milano/Torino to Lecce), you will find that the same trip is covered in the same time as the frecciargentos do (or even in 10 minutes slower). Also on the Adriatic line there is the same “rango” problem, but we talk about 10 km/h, just not a problem when you ride almost at 150-180 km/h.
I’m pretty sure that also the trip in Italo on the same itinerary was not so good (I’m not talking about the experience onboard, you know): talking about ride time, it needs about 20 minutes more than the fs pendolinos, and it cannot be justified just with the 3 additional stops that does on the Adriatic Line between Bari and Barletta.
As a personal opinion, I prefer the etr485 seats, but the ride comfort and the experience is much better on the Italo evo or on the frecciarossa 1000 (even though in economy you can’t recline the seat on the last one, grrrrrrrrrrrrr >:( ).
I’m a fan of your videos. They’re great, I’m always excited about your reviews.
Well done!
What are the actual speed limits for Pendolino on Caserta - Foggia?
@@maxart3392 for the first 30 km of line from Foggia, there’s a new line which let the trains go up to 200 km/h without restrictions. Then, for the next 130 km, the maximum speed for the pendolinos is, in absolute, 150km/h but just for 15 km in total. Then, the speed is between 90 and 140 km/h. These are infos that I found on the RFI line sheets online on their website.
The new line, which is under construction, will be optimized for traveling up to 250 km/h.
Love your content, Dylan! BTW... I must say... LOVE THE HAIR!
If you think these are awful, I cant wait to see your reaction to the ETR 700 trains...
ah yes, my favourite Dutch train
When it comes to reviews like yours, I expect it to be a genuine honest appraisal, of which I think this one was. So, on that note, I reckon you did a pretty good job.
Telling you this, because I'm going to Europe in a few weeks, and what you shared is really valuable information. Cheers mate.
Restaurant/Bar cars still closed? I went on a 30 day Eurail Pass last August and Switzerland, Germany, Austria, and France all had theirs open. I couldn't even get a beer on the Italian trains because the cart service didn't have them. I had to bring my own on board. Not that I drink a lot, but I do enjoy a cold beer on my train rides. Great video by the way, thanks
Very enjoyable video, thanks.
Great report as always Dylan!
I travelled aboard this train a couple of years ago from Lamezia Terme to Napoli Centrale, in second class. I indeed noticed the rattling, especially on the (short) high speed part between Salerno and Napoli. I must admit I still enjoyed the trip though; the second class seats were comfy in my opinion, wiews were spectacular during several parts of the journey and I liked the classic tilting 'Pendolino' technique during the curvy part of the trip!
But indeed, I think my journey was mainly ok, due to the fact that we were travelling on conventional speeds for the largest part of the trip 😉
At high speed they looked to take on a Pacer quality of bounce, such wonderful scenery, as always fair and honest review
great video! while the interior of the train is pretty outdated the exterior look fantastic
My impression is that this is an outdated train that may be mechanically capable of high speeds but at a sacrifice in comfort. The seating is not what one would expect from something labeled "first class".
Hello mate I love your videos they are the best of railways channels no discussion... Salut from south west of France
Great trip report
I get what you mean with the Trenitalia staff being strict (and also kind of uninviting). last summer I was in Italy, just before the green pass was put in effect.
and this is something I don’t really get, because all the “normal” people I spoke around Milan were really nice and sociable. it’s just something with the government and government facilities with all their rules that’s just odd.
Sad to see that they’re awful. great video! I recommend doing the Ayrshire coast line from Kilmarnock to Stranraer
I did that a few years ago, starting from Troon rather than Killie. It's a hidden gem of a line but the rolling stock isn't going to make for an exciting video. The Carlisle-Glasgow route via Kilmarnock would be another good one to do for the views, even though the service is operated by the same Class 156 Sprinters that are on the Stranraer line.
Thanks for the video.
Would you ever do voice overs on any of your old content?
Why? Not good with reading?
The problem is that the railway lines you've travelled on cannot accomodare speeds of more than 200/250 kph. One of these ETRs had also a terrible incident back in 1997 (look it up). These trains also run on the Frecciabianca services on the Tyrrhenian line
This was an enjoyable video, well produced and easy to watch and listen to - as usual. Congratulations on all that.
However, I agree with a couple of other commenters here on the following points. I would care somewhat if the interior looked shabby or worn-out. I would care very much if it was dirty. But I do not care at all if it looks out-dated.
Much more important are: the comfort of seats; the amount of leg-room; space for luggage; the provision of facilities such as food, wi-fi and decent toilets; the quality of ride; the ability to shade windows; the placement of seats in relation to windows; etc., etc. On those counts, it seems that these trains are of variable quality, and in some of them not particularly good. But I doubt I would find them "awful".
Thanks, Dylan! I loved your video. We always travel well with you. Its good. At least you're honest, you're not a hustler. When you don't like a train, you say it in all honesty, you don't try to embellish it. You don't always try to say: whoah! what a beautiful train! as some do when they don't mean it. You say what you think, it's very nice. I don't know this kind of train so I can't have an idea. But the fact that you are honest with us is very positive. The second class is more than enough. I always wear your T-Shirt of course when I take the train, and we plan to take plenty of them this year, well that's what I hope. By the way, you forgot to put a I love my comments. Friendships.
I took this same train type for a trip from Venice to Florence, it was very tight with the luggage
Great review as always and often staying down in Puglia we often use the the local lines and often thought about the train to Rome but not sure now. Oh and its pronounced Bar ee not Barry 😁
Omg early good video! 👍
I remember you being very positive about the portuguese and polish pendolinos. Do you think the bad ride quality is due to lacklustre maintenance by Trenitalia?
The polish pendolinos are just a few years old, so i wouldn’t compare them to ETR485
@@prgaviation Good to know! I thought they were older because they look pretty similar.
@@not_on are you sure you are not confusing it with something else? The polish pendolinos have a very different nose then the etr485😀
@@prgaviation It seems I did. They look nothing alike 🙈
@@not_on probably the Czech ones that you where thinking about
Great video
Nice ride! They are a bit worn though. Just to get an idea of the legroom, how tall are you? I normally do not have leg room problems, but I am only 1,65 m tall (or rather not tall :) ).
Thanks for Rome's ride
It's a shame to see you didn't manage to catch a V250 trainset. These were imported from The Netherlands and Belgium when the "Fyra" service flopped - major technical difficulties of the train itself being the main cause. It would be interesting to see what Trenitalia has made of these sets. Rather coincidentally, at 10:30 an Alstom Coradia Stream is on show, which will be the Fyra, but under the name of NS (Dutch Railways) only and at 200 km/h instead of 250. Cheers!
Edit: I now see that these V250 sets have been rebranded under the name ETR700. If I see the comments there's not much nice to say about them, despite being only 10 years old.
Simply Railway did a video on those.
If you are referring to these trains, as you can see in Italy they work very well! ua-cam.com/video/9DShZ1ddhMI/v-deo.html
Excellent 👍👍👍
Beautiful country scenery.
hey dylan mate great video i prefer the avantiwestcoast pendolinos they are much more better that the trenitalias
You must be a really fast walker Dylan, in a few steps you went from the train station to St. Peter's Square, and in a couple more to the Colosseum! Looks like the trip was uneventful and drab, hope your stay in Rome compensates for it!
Great trip. I think it's okay for 24-25 years old train, for bumpy riding, I think FS should make some scheduled maintenance for this train. As long as the seat isn't Iron-ic seat like commuters or regional train, it's okay.
It needs an Alfa Pendular type refurbishment
have you been on the GWR sleeper recently / post-covid? if so please could you breifly explain if its still good or not? ta
Excellent quality 🍾🍾🍾🥂🍾❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰🥰🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
At least it was a beautiful sunny day. I wish the camera had been able to pick up the rattle and bounce at full speed but I trust your word on this.; an overall unappealing trip. The Bari train station was good looking; 20 Euros to enter 1st class lounge? What are they serving there, caviar?
if it were a French train it would be WOW, but being an Italian train it is a must to complain!
why
ok ok i'm italian....this isn't even a standard in Italia. 'Pendolino' is Frecciabianca, I can assure youis amazing travel with Le Frecce. Frecciarossa is actually cost as this and gives the best quality in WHOLE world, Frecciabianca is simple outdated.

essendo nella parte mitel europea italiana è normale confrontarci con parigi.
personalmente mi piace di più milano.
in italia ci costruiamo i treni, una volta usavamo i loro.
frecciabianca è proprio alstom quindi francese, tra l'altro.

Nah, you're not being too harsh. Only one plug socket per pair of seats? Seats that have very poor legroom? That looked like, if it was 2+2 instead of 2+1, a standard class product sold at first class rates. And those trains could certainly do with a refurbishment.
Not good if you ask me!
Which app are you using for tracking your speed?
At 3:10 you said “Italo EVO” ETR 675 are tilting trains
That's false, they're part of pendolino family but they don't tilt, like the polish and the Chinese ones
Not sure the benchmark to complain? Compared to anything in Australia or NZ this is cutting edge!!! Even with its issues. Our fast trains.......the authorities wet themselves over 110-120kmph and rarely get to 160 for decent lengths.
Great review. You did a really good job conveying just how bad this experience was.
Thanks
Honestly the pendolino 460-480 series did not go down in history to be the best. Having said this, that shakings at 15:30 are strange. Maybe the train is near a major manteniance
I was last on an Italian train in 1983. Almost anything looks like an improvement!

You can not compare railways in Italy in 1983 to now. As he said, they have some of the best high speed services worldwide.
@@arnoldhau1 im from veneto, we don't even have 'av'(technically is from 220km\h to upper but for usis from 280km\h to upper) so tbh i don't even care about av...i travel with Rock and Pop and they looks even better.
as you see the problem is this train not italia...a rock and pop are, stand alone even not made for being luxury or fast, far better.
each 10 year italia get a newer...at contrary of france in italy we got a conservative vision of public transport so that's why you could see this but everything is payed by public money(bills and taxes) so that's mean you should think Trenitalia isn't private so sorry if we are pretty too much proud of our av(it's fully public) and in '80s italia was managed far more worst than nowdays(thankfully to people who arrested people of Mani Pulite!).
so, simple, isn't easy explain "why" but it isn't an italian standard simple because our standard is Frecciarossa(ETR1000 for everybody else and it is well sold in Europe too like Renfe for example).
Italia is one of the last country in Europe able to produce our own trains(technically called 'Hitachi Italy' the heartis still Ansaldo) so tbh how many countries own a great AV and an own brand? Finmeccanica is still one of the greatest world wildly and we are the one who produced the 'heart' of the french Iter!
Tbh most of the cliches are false and i know italia isn't perfect but we are still strong as France and Germany...Spain isn't even strong as us.
Our trains are comparable only with France because we share everything about cars and trains and technologies(with food for us Spain and Franceare the same).
The evo train are not titling 😉
Unfortunately they are not.... but they still have the name Pendolino..... that`s weird .....
I assume, the bumpy ride is related to the fact, that these ETR485 are tilting trains. The distance between the rails and the floor of the coaches is determined by technical aspects, thus limited and you have to fit your wheels and bogies in there. On a tilting train the tilting mechanism eats up quite a bit of that space, which then lacks for the suspension (or rather the way the body of the coach can travel within its springs), resulting in a rougher ride. And this is becoming more and more notable the faster you go. It's a general drawback of all tilting trains; they are bad at high speeds. However with the newer ETR610 it seems like they sortet out that issue a bit.
hey dylan ur videos are very worth to watch and i am happy with your videos and ur hardwork u are doing keep it up man my support will be always with you man
Great vid! Question, what makes the ride so awful? Thr track, wheels???
The factor of bogies structural deterioration, these ones are pretty old, you know
And overall trainset maintenance levels
@@user-wu4cw5ed5w Thank you👍
It can be both the train or the track, but Italies high speed tracks are usually well maintained, so I guess it's either flat spots on the wheels or worn out suspension components.
@@EliasSchmid00 It's a first generation Pendolino, as far as I know about them that both wheel pairs and suspension is wonky
I love the idea of WitchCon 2022 🤣
But the only explanation I can think of for arriving 18 minutes early is _definitely_ witchcraft 🧙🏻♀️
When I travelled with another Italian high-speed operator just last month?
They had no problem with our Scottish vaccination passes (both my wife and I have had both doses and a booster)
But the American couple behind us had more trouble as they could only prove they'd had 2 vaccinations and didn't have a negative PCR test from their arrival.
So they had slent basically the journey from Venice to Florence (they were going to Rome) trying to coble together the evidence that they met the Italian legal standards to be permitted to travel.
I will also say - we also traversed the Rome - Naples high-speed line. But in the other direction, and on an .italo AGV.
It was smooth, comfortable and well airconditioned.
To get to our hotel, on the Sorrento peninsula, however - involved a trip on the 'Circumvesuviana Railway' which . . .vill be honest I'd LOVE to see your take on.
Cheap? Charming? A quaint narrow guage suburban metro?
Also slow, rattly, covered in graffiti and please, please watch your possessions at all times!! 😅😅
Don't get me wrong - naples offered some of the finest food and wine we had had all holiday (Venice possibly topped it for food but barely)
But wow is it 'Grrr-italy'
It's very different from the North and . . . certain . . . Exceptions . . . Have to be made regarding prices, timetables etc.
Chaos and bribery/excessive tipping was my take away impression of that part of Italy.
you have really had your string of problems lately. At least you have seen some wonderful sights. Things have to be on the upturn soon.
I'll be riding this train in a few weeks, to Caserta, and then to Napoli.
It doesn't sound like it will be one of my more pleasant train trips! 😐
its a old train Dylan ,least it was cheaper than what uk has too offer ,and seemed plenty off available seating !
Are trains normally delayed by passing trains?
They are if they don't want to meet athe switch...
What I don't quite understand is that if you arrived at Benevento 17 minutes early but was subsequently held up by 15 minutes shouldn't you still be 2 minutes early? Unless of course they held you at Benevento for the scheduled departure time!
There are plenty of reasons to arrive early but none to depart before time. That would cause people to miss they're train.
Surprising how bad these compare to the similar VR ones running in Finland.
Unfortunately the ETRs 460/485 (Identical to the Old 480) have always suffered high speeds, they always had problems in the Undecarriage in general, creating enormous vibrations at speed, and that's a shame, because the Pendolino Tecnology first used by the now defunct Fiat Ferroviaria in the ETR450 was really good for the time and worked well, the old 450s had to be scrapped because they didn't have spare parts anymore, but they were so gorgeous and reliable, apart for the tilting capability, here in Italy the Pendolini can legally go higher speeds in turns than standard Class C Locos and Units I would love if Trenitalia Purchased other Pendolini to remove this flawed Units from service.
I think you are a bit too negative considering this is a lower-grade high speed train travelling mostly on non-high speed lines. The interior looks quite alright, seats are probably more comfortable than on most UK trains, especially in second class. I can't comment on the ride quality from my own experience, but I found Spain's S120 you reviewed recently, to be extremely bumpy, while you descibed it as "silky smooth". And that train also looks much more outdated (while you called it "smart-looking").
I'll be sure to avoid those trains next time I'm in Italy :)
Italo
It seems that they have abandoned these trains (460, 485 and 610) by making little and poor maintenance. They should be refurbished...these trains still have so much to give.
I had always thought the Frecciaargento was really good but did not realise there were different types. This Pendolino service definitely a notch lower than the Frecciaargento services run between Rome and Venice for example.
I am getting concerned because Trenitalia brought ETR 475's to Greece. Still to be introduced because they don't have sanders, but there is a big conversation for these trains that were withdrawn from the Transalpino service...
I have travelled a couple of times with this train. I didn’t see anything wrong
Oh I'm so happy we got rid of the these Critters in Switzerland( you may have travelled on one of the the ex Cisslpino units looking at the single arm AC pantho).. I got seasick in them.. the vibrations were horrible during the ride..and technically speaking a nightmare... unreliable.. often late.. .. and the interior looks pretty much as it did in 2010..
There are older Trainsets that have fared far better...
I think it depends on one's perspective. I worked out 122 kph average speed, based on your numbers; slow if you are used to high quality high speed rail. But being from the US, I could only wish for trains this bad (fast). Our fastest trains are abysmally slow, averaging less than 108 kph.
Boa viagem Dylans lindo 🚆 bala bom 👍 excelente trem
I took this from Florence to Rome in December 2019
I have to say I'm a little ambivalent about the standard of rolling stock and more interested in the scenery from your journey across Italy. That said, the interior of these units does look a tad drab. Rather nice for a February day in the northern hemisphere. A chuckle from me when you mentioned Foggia's claim to fame, as well as that of Beneventa. I wonder what might be growing alongside or under the tomatoes. The only witch hunt that would be relevant today would be decent humans putting the tyrant of Moscow and his cronies out of business and treating them to a working holiday in deepest Siberia. I do hope you prayed for World Peace at St.Peter's Square in Rome. I'm sure you had a quick prayer as you passed within the line of sight of Mount Vesuvius, hoping it didn't go BANG as you went past. Thank you for this insight into a TransItalian rail journey.
It's a good video
Did you know: Avanti West Coast is owned by FirstGroup Trenitalia.
Yes, most people know this. And did you know that it's illegal to mis-identify yourself as a law enforcement agent, whether on UA-cam or anywhere else. I'd recommend changing the BTP user ID as, if someone reports you (I haven't BTW) you could face serious trouble.
I think those trains are really authetic and I like them. Yes they getting old, But they show the times of italians High speed history.
The price is less then half of that you would pay in Germany fo a first class ticket and trains aren't that much better here.
YES YES The New Train For Pacer
👍👍👍
What was the language the lady was speaking
Did you put on weight Dylan? I can see it in the intro
He was always a solid lad.
@@andyrob3259 I have had the impression that he is rather tall and slim
I forgot that they drive on the same side as us and France (plus Argentina & a few others).
Not as awful as the relic which you have crossed from Spain to Portugal, I think
dude...in italia we don't even use this trains, from Frecciargento to Frecciarossa(yeah, the best train in the world to us costs as this :-) ) or Italo...this isn't a standard
Good grief! An Italian train with toilet paper! I have travelled the length and breadth of the country and always had to supply my own as there has never been any - even on the night sleeper to Paris. This is quite common in all public loos it appears.
I haven't travelled on these trains, so cannot comment on their riding qualities, but for me the worst trains for poor riding, are Japenese designed units. The class 800 unlts on GWR can be dreadful at speed, and I remember travelling on the Souuh Eastern high speed Javelins when new, and the ride was alarming! I haven't travelled on the Frecciarossa 1000, but I am sure that such a beautiful train, could only have a beautiful ride!
A train that looks like an airplane inside
A little harsh maybe! 😂 Of Course it wasn’t my back that was suffering!
It seems that the Trenitalia don't care how bad the seating is given they are more likely to be retired.
i travel in your same train 2 week ago etr485 40
🤩❤️
From Bari to Caserta maximum speed is actually only 150 Km/h.

I'm glad you mentioned accessibility. What is a "foot crossing"?
My guess is that it's a crossing where you can use your wheelchair to cross right over the tracks.
@@EliasSchmid00 Would that be rather a wheel crossing?
They still have COVID restrictions? Honestly, why?
So the FS Trenitalia ETR485 Pendolino trains are not that good. Same could be said with Avanti West Coast Class 390 Pendolino's.
