Dude, love it. The plasma cutting was legit. Love that little induction forge. Pretty slick.
⚡️⚡️⚡️Thank you James!! ⚡️⚡️⚡️
Great Job, Brian! It came out fantastic!
⚡️⚡️⚡️ Thank you Denis!⚡️⚡️⚡️
That's good. You said it well, some uncommon process for sure! And I dig that! I think it's the first time I see an induction heater that is not some kind of spiral/tubing, very cool!
Argon filled heat treatment oven is also insane. Is the door and everything air tight? I love the finish you got, big fan of dark and textured blades myself.
Finally big fiber laser envy... That's some good etch right there.
Knife Looks terrific. Congrats man, huge like :)
⚡️⚡️⚡️ Thank you!! I have spent many years in this workshop and have yet to understand everything. It’s fun to discover new processes. You have inspired my work greatly, and I appreciate your work. Cheers! ⚡️⚡️⚡️
From what I've learned doing stainless TIG welding, you don't want the oven to be completely airtight, the Argon is heavier than the air so as long as you have enough PSI going in, it will slowly displace the air inside the oven and you want that air to be able to escape and not stay in and build pressure
This is one of my favorite builds in the competition. I like the complicated simplicity of it.
⚡️⚡️⚡️ Thank you Erick!⚡️⚡️⚡️
Brian, I love this knife. Old meets new with the hand and machine work. I’m a sucker for brute de forge, and honestly, I like the free hand ground one even better. I’ve got to say that I like your over all shape the best out of the group (probably because it’s similar to mine😉😂). Great job brother. I’d love to see more knife builds on the channel.
⚡️⚡️⚡️ Thanks Dustin!! The process to getting here has been a fun one. With your help and many others in the community I am finally putting out work I am proud of. So thank you brother!! ⚡️⚡️⚡️
Как всегда приятно смотреть. Других мастеров также посмотрел. Молодцы.
More contests like this. Seasonal challenges, holidays, special events, fundraisers, would watch all that happily.
⚡️⚡️⚡️ Thank you!⚡️⚡️⚡️
That was a great video!! Knife looks great, well done on the final product 👌🏽
⚡️⚡️⚡️ Thank you Chris !!! ⚡️⚡️⚡️
WOOOOO! I’ve been waiting for this!!! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Cheers Bryan thanks man!!
Super cool build man! Love the shape and design ! Knocked it out of the park bro!
⚡️⚡️⚡️ Thank you Airin!⚡️⚡️⚡️
Old fashioned knife pattern made with very modern tools and techniques. All in all solid vid.
Thank you so much! ⚡️⚡️⚡️
Just discovered your channel as part of this competition and have to say your process on this was just so different to any of the usual knife making I have seen and I was very impressed and really liked the finished product. All the best with the competition
⚡️⚡️⚡️ Thank you Henk!⚡️⚡️⚡️
This may be the most modern knife shop I've ever seen. You've got my vote man, nice work!
Thank you! 🙌🏻
Great Work Brian, you are a true craftsman ......... well done mate and I hope you are the winner !!!
⚡️⚡️⚡️ Thank you Mike! ⚡️⚡️⚡️
Awesome job Brian! thanks
⚡️⚡️⚡️ Thank you Don!⚡️⚡️⚡️
That looks really nice. Thanks for sharing.
⚡️⚡️⚡️ Thank you Sam!⚡️⚡️⚡️
Very different approach. Loved seeing how each maker approached this challenge. All 10 of you did a fantastic job.
⚡️⚡️⚡️ Thank you Neesha!⚡️⚡️⚡️
Man, I wasn't so sure at the beginning when I saw the plasma cut profile. But I am thoroughly impressed with this build in its entirety. That's a beautiful and very unique knife!! It's so simple compared to the others in this challenge, but, honestly it is so unique that I believe it stands up to the others :) very nicely done. I love your modern knife shop!
⚡️⚡️⚡️ Thank you Widney! Truly appreciate you watching and commenting. ⚡️⚡️⚡️
Very cool, the profile design is the part that got me excited. The precision of CAD and CAM to make awesome knife designs.
I am with you. I want the knives to be repeatable. Thank you Omar. ⚡️⚡️
Just found your channel in this competitiin. Loved the bevels and hammer work on blade. 👍👍🔥🔥🔥
⚡️⚡️⚡️ Thank you Gurvinder!⚡️⚡️⚡️
As always brother love your work, energy and zest for what you do!!
⚡️⚡️⚡️ Thank you Jeff!⚡️⚡️⚡️
@@HouseMadeUS yes sir!!! Your knife making is improving from the little you’ve shown. I can see subtle differences from the ones before.
“Journey to becoming a master craftsman, is never complete” love it. Beautiful knife Brian!
⚡️⚡️⚡️ Thank you Armen!⚡️⚡️⚡️
Great vid man
⚡️⚡️⚡️ Thank you Jerod!! ⚡️⚡️⚡️
It’s been a long time since I’ve watched a knife making video and seen truly new tips and tricks. Awesome video and gorgeous knife!
⚡️⚡️⚡️ Thank you Zach!⚡️⚡️⚡️
Love it. I am convinced this one wil win!
⚡️⚡️⚡️ Thank you Ben!⚡️⚡️⚡️
10 superb gyuto knives! 🤩
Congratulations to the 10 participants and I hope this is only the first collaboration of a long series. 😍
I was able to enjoy seeing the blades making, from, at first glance, simple to complex and all would have their place in my kitchen ... except, maybe, the Faraway Forge one, my kitchen is too small 🤣
😂😂😂 - conversation piece maybe! 😂😂😂
⚡️⚡️⚡️ Thank you Fabrice!⚡️⚡️⚡️
One of the most beautiful blades I have ever seen!
Thank you! 🙏🏼
That looks amazing! People selling "stabilized" wood at a crappy level is a pet peeve, there are some of us that pride ourselves on taking the time to get it correct and not shortcutting the process. Again really like that blade 🔥
⚡️⚡️⚡️ Thank you Rodney!⚡️⚡️⚡️ - yeah I am going to push back to the gent who sold them to me. I think he will make it good.
I love having the Langmuir. I’ve been want to use it for cutting a knife blank for a while. I really need to get back to doing that.
⚡️⚡️⚡️ Thank you Chad! It was great to see you at BLADE⚡️⚡️⚡️
@@HouseMadeUS when are you heading home? I’ll be there in an hour.
Gonna go hang out for a few before our flight. See ya there!
The handle is well in proportion with the blade. nice work!
Thank you Harry.
Damn! That's beautiful 😍 these guys are making it so hard. I love it 🤘
⚡️⚡️⚡️ Thank you!⚡️⚡️⚡️
Advanced technology and ancient look. Very nice.
⚡️⚡️⚡️ Thank you Larry!⚡️⚡️⚡️
That is one gorgeous looking knife! Very well done Brian💪🏻🔪🔥
⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️ Thank you Bryan!! ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️
Good Luck man!!! I'm gonna have to figure out how to judge the knife, not the maker... Take it easy. So just watched all the videos. I gotta say, there are some sick knives & designs, but honestly yours is the one that if I went online, looks like a Gyuto. Now, it looks like it needs to be sharper, but I think you have my vote.
Whoa Dave!! This is awesome man!! I did take it back and sharpen it again after the shot. You were right. Cheers!!
@@HouseMadeUS I even showed my friend all the knives on the page & he agreed. In fact, he has a couple just like it. The others were beautiful knives, but I think a lot went for looks over use.
⚡️⚡️⚡️ Thank you Dave!⚡️⚡️⚡️
Great Video. I love the hammer texturing on the steel. I'm curious as to why you quench in oil before plates. I've been heat treating some AEB-L myself this week and never heard of that method. Also if you are going to drill a round hole in a Wa style handle, you should check out the dowel method. Jeremy from simple little life has some videos on this. I've found this a nice simple way for doing these handles. Hope you're having a great time at Blade!
The oil is mostly to get the carbon black build up on the blade. Its the only thing I have found that is food safe. (So far)
Oh and yes I need some dowels! Haha! Still learning this process.
@@HouseMadeUS It gives a great effect with the textured area!
yup great build fella.
⚡️⚡️⚡️Thank you sir! ⚡️⚡️⚡️
Something about hand hammered that looks slippery (in a good way) on a chefs knife.
⚡️⚡️⚡️ Thank you Mike !!! ⚡️⚡️⚡️
Im currently making a AEB-L Chefs knife myself and remembered this video. I have a question i cant seem to find an answer, what temperature and holding time specifics you had for normalizing after forging the blade? This would help me tremendously. Thank you in advance.
Bro, I’m amazed how far you’ve come through the years, started watching you back in the Welcraft rebuild days! Finally getting my channel rolling, keep up the hard work!
Thank you Casey. It’s been a great journey so far. Thank you for coming along for the ride. And good luck with your channel. ⚡️⚡️⚡️
An electric forge, just when you thought you've seen everything. That's a really interesting concept!
⚡️⚡️⚡️ Thank you Gean!⚡️⚡️⚡️
Hi Brian, Can you provide detail on the induction forge?
Sure. I have this unit (different color but same internals) amzn.to/2STXFw3
a modern knife that has an ancient look very nice work very nice
⚡️⚡️⚡️Thank you Patrick!! ⚡️⚡️⚡️
That's a beautiful lade...exactly my style.
⚡️⚡️⚡️ Thank you!⚡️⚡️⚡️
Do you information/links to the laser engraver that you use?

Brian, how much is all your equipment in the workshop, if not a secret?
I don’t really know how much is invested at this point. It’s a lifetime of collecting tools.
Love that, Brian!
The H⚡️W in Japanese is a quality touch.
⚡️⚡️⚡️ Thank you Pete!⚡️⚡️⚡️
@@HouseMadeUS
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I think hidden tangs are easier than full tangs IMO. With a full tang there’s so much more finish work to make the tang scratch free, and if you’re doing an heirloom fit, it’s a nightmare.
Once I get a bit more comfortable with the process I will most definitely agree. I spend an enormous amount of time with scales. You’re right. Thank you for watching and commenting! ⚡️⚡️⚡️
How much argon were you pumping in ?? I had a gas kit installed in mine, no one seems to be able to advise on it.
4-5 SCFM seems to be the perfect amount.
House / Work thank you so much Sir.
Blade show is over, I can finally catch up on the challenge
It’s not over!! You around tomorrow??
you made a left handed knife. nice
Amazing knife 💐💐🔪🔪👍🏼👍🏼
I was shocked you hammer on that AeBL so cold.. does it not crack at that temp?
Most of what the camera picks up isn’t true to the eye. The steel was hot but didn’t look that way on camera. No cracking at all. AEBL is really easy to move at those temps. I was surprised myself! Cheers! ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️
@@HouseMadeUS thanks for the reply, when forging carbon steel I normally stop at a dull red, can you forge AEBL that way too? I was trying to do it all in orange but that is a pain! I appreciate your advice
Yes a full red is about where I was at the end there. The camera just didn’t pick it up. Cheers and forge on! ⚡️⚡️⚡️
Haven’t seen the others
But YOU win
You should check the others out, those knifemakers are all amazing! Thank you for the unofficial win though. 😁⚡️
you are very good
I agree 😉
⚡️⚡️⚡️ Thanks guys!⚡️⚡️⚡️
Nice work on the blade!!!💪🏼🔥🤘🏼
At 7:50 your talking about what’s on the blade and your not sure about it.
Check out Eli,A very talented blade smith at Fire Creek Forge on UA-cam.
In some of his videos, he explains how why and what happens to the blade through heating all the way to normalization. I highly recommend you watching it. You won’t be disappointed 💪🏼❤️👍🏻🙏🏻
I have watched a few of his videos and they are great!! Easy to watch and learn. I’ll find the video you are referencing. Thank you! ⚡️⚡️⚡️
@@HouseMadeUS hey. Also you have a very bad ass 2x72. Some day I’ll order one from ya. I made my owe almost the same time you started making yours and channel. You’ve come a long way maaan!!!
Great job!!💪🏼💪🏼🔥🤘🏼🔥🤘🏼👍🏻🤣
Thank you brother!! It’s been a fun journey. ⚡️⚡️⚡️
anyone know where i can find the blue T R Maker tool at 10.57
He sells them on eBay. Knife Vise.
@@HouseMadeUS thank you very much !!!
the blade looks great ...but a square handle??
You live up to your username. I like it! 😎

⚡️⚡️⚡️ Thanks man!! ⚡️⚡️⚡️
