If it weren't for that one, it would be a mean prank. That one it's not unusual, however, made it the biggest funniest torture I could possibly imagine.
DeathWatch 1212 personally (and I forgot to say that in the original comment) the failed Xanax story is number one. This and Horse in a Hospital are tied. Others are anything regarding eighth graders and Horse in a Hospital. Honestly, John Mulaney is the best comic working today and everything he says is hilarious.
I showed this to my mom last year. Every day since then, she wakes me up by blasting "What's New, Pussycat?" in my room. Every single day. I'd kill for an "It's Not Unsual" every once in awhile
I thought the same thing, but this isn't the recorded version that's on Spotify and others :/ He also doesn't mention the "caters to teens and homeless schizophrenics" and one of the schizophrenics saying "now you know"
How many people started playing Tom Jones’s “what’s new pussycat” after they heard this? I started playing it over and over again to see what would happen to my brain. And John is right. After about four times you can’t be sure if you’ve only heard it once and it’s really long, or if you’re hearing it a dozen times. This technique could be used as a kind of weapon of psychological warfare to use against enemies.
I did this in a car ride with my brother, niece, and wife. Wife knew immediately and wasn't excited for what was about to happen, so to save wife and my sanity (although I actually like What's New Pussycat) I only played 5 before the switch and then 2 more. Brother caught on after the 3rd that something was up, niece was oblivious.

Hilariously enough he confirmed that this John is the same John from the "This one Time" story that smashed the bottle on the ground and yelled scatter
Did something like that at a Pizza Hut many moons ago. Dialed up "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" a dozen times, then left. Now I wish I'd stuck around (missed the best part!) and put in "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead" halfway through. Anyway, I did notice that Pizza Hut doesn't have a jukebox anymore.
I wouldn’t mind that actually and I’m sure a lot of other people wouldn’t, they’d just probably think it was weird. The thing about What’s New Pussycat is it makes some people uncomfortable. Go listen to it and you’ll see why 😂
I played it one time yesterday on the touchtunes at this one bar, the bartenders started laughing and a few people immediately knew what was going on and I heard whispers talking about this bit as I was trying to keep a straight face. Mission accomplished
why not? Could you not get 7 dollars? Could you not find a diner with a Juke Box? Could you not bring yourself to do it knowing how mad people would get?
This probably isn't how jukeboxes work, but it be fantastic if after John and his friend left, the people at the diner plug the jukebox back in only for it to continue belting out what's new pussycat and they just have to endure it if they want to use the jukebox again
the song might start back up if the needle is still on the record, though i don't know if the jukebox would remember how many plays it has left after being unplugged (plus they could just take the record out)
I worked at Teavanna in Boston. I played in the jungle the mighty jungle 3 times before my coworkers realized. My manager made me take it off after the 4 time.

We used to go in the diner and play "Greek Music" (that's what it said on the juke box) and then watch the whole kitchen empty out to see who of their relatives had come to the diner. Lame, I know, but they were different days, yes 3 for a quarter.
I remember seeing this joke as a kid, like when I was 8. And I never knew who that was, I tried finding it when I was older but for some reason, I thought it was Dana Carvey who did it. Anyways, I discovered John Mulaney early last year, and I absolutely loved him. I remember hearing his album version of this joke, and I was like "hey this is the joke, but this isn't the way I remember it being performed." I have finally found it. Ah, ye ol' juke boxes were great for pranksters. I recall a summer camp where there was a free juke box in the recreation area and the "older" boys (probably 11 compared to my 7) were playing "Help Me, Rhonda" over and over AND over. So my friend and I snuck up to the box and put "I Like Bread & Butter" on. As soon as the guys heard that song there was pandemonium and screams so we ran out laughing. I still chuckle when I hear either one of those songs.
Though I've grown out of it to an extent, this is the kind of evil perfection I love to see in our lives! Seriously, in a weird way it brings hope. The worst I've done has been sneaking a speaker into our workplace (it's relatively calm there), and setting up rimshots to play when puns are made.
