The JackRabbit XG is the second iteration of the brand’s namesake micro e-bike/scooter. With no pedals, the bike is powered by throttle and can carry its rider up to 20 mph. We tested its speed, range, braking power, and more in our JackRabbit XG review!
Fun is the name of the game with the XG, as we discovered in our testing. This zippy little e-bike has the power to make anyone’s day better - just hop on and see!
It’s easy to think that the XG is a toy made for kids; it’s one of the smallest e-mobility devices we’ve seen. But as a bike made for college students, RV campers, and more, it packs a serious punch thanks to its 500W rear hub motor!
What’s something RV campers and college students have in common? Tiny living spaces! The XG folds nearly flat so it can be stashed in tight quarters and quickly made road-ready once again. JackRabbit also offers a convenient shoulder sling allowing users to carry the bike indoors.

E-Bike Question of the Day ⚡🚴 Would you use the XG for commuting, getting across campus, camping, or just cruising the neighborhood? Let us know in the comments below 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼
I prefer the original because it was a little more "barebones" compared to this new version. A single speed pedal version would really get my attention because I still like pedaling my ebikes.
I bought a the XG and have had it for about a month now and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! I’m 6’5 260lbs so definitely on the large size for this bike but honestly I fit just fine and the power is more than anyone realistically needs for zipping around town and camping grounds. I never really felt like the brakes were weak but I guess I’m also not testing it beside other e-bikes. My wife also has one and we love taking them on trips and just cruising around a new city. We can fit 2 of them in my wife’s Mazda too so we don’t even need to bring the bike hitch or take my truck every time. Overall I was a bit skeptical but really glad I went with the Jackrabbit XG over a scooter or a bigger bulkier e-bike which would actually have made it harder to travel with.
You get it! Glad to hear you're enjoying your purchase.
I have an OG and love it. I use it to do my local errands and it actually makes them fun. Hard to believe, but it’s true.
with your height and weight, what is the max range of your unit?
@@nataku008 I haven’t actually ever ran out of power fully. Range has been pretty accurate depending on how many hills I’m climbing but in general I haven’t had to think or worry about range.
@@nataku008 i rarely push it to the max limit but I’ve gone 15 miles with it easily
Great info! 👍
I thought my XG's braking performance was adequate, but it didn't take much to significantly reduce the top speed braking distance down to 24'...from their 28'+ test result. I installed a 180 mm rotor on the front wheel and used 13 mm spacers to reposition the caliper. Surprisingly, the increased deceleration gave no hint of an over-the-handlebars catastrophe!
I'm 5'5, this and the og seem to be perfect for someone my height, is that true? Some bikes are just bulky but this seems like a bike for small adults
Surprisingly, both do a great job of fitting a wide range of riders. You would likely be extremely comfortable on both models.
I thought the Fabulous Extreme XT was pretty compact. This one is smaller.
They don't get much smaller than this one right here.
EMX Xtreme XT I guess it's called
What is the riders weight?
I was around 210 in the video but the bike can carry up to 275 lbs.
I am now just curious because all the nay sayers!{Curiosity abounds!}
Curious about what?
It's funny how 20 mph looks like 50 mph on bike vids ...
Sometimes it feels like 50! :)
Looks more like a BMX to me, made for kids. Doesn't seem to be really comfy. Idk, but that brand name always rings in my heads as jacka$$ 🤣😂😅
It's honestly super comfy! And you're right, it does have a BMX feel.
Wow. Can’t imagine someone 6’5” feeling anything but silly on this bike. That said, it’s probably too powerful for a kids bike. With that price tag and a the substandard brakes, it’s a hard pass for most.
Looks like a toy bike😂😂😂
i literally just bought for my 9 yr old, cuz it seems like a kids bike.
I am disappointed in your review or this XG , it is not an e-bike, this is exactly why we have legal problems in so many States that do not allow E-Bike's on public and private lands. Permissible use and the acceptance of pedal assist e-bike to be allowed anywhere a bicycle permitted. Keep this up and we will have to have license and insurance.
We did our best to make a distinction as often as possible in the video, sorry if that didn't translate well!
$1750 🤡🤡🤡
