I was sitting listening to music recently and without warning I felt very hot, my heart rate went up and I felt anxious. I sat calmly and started deep breathing. It passed after 10 mins. I went to bed but woke at 3.30 am with tachycardia and this put me into panic mode. I started the deep breathing again and eventually it passed. I was drained and my nights sleep ruined. This happened me a good few times in January 2019 and I ended up in the Emergency Room. They found nothing but I still went to bed at night dreading the return. The GP gave me Xanax for 5 nights which I took to get a full nights sleep, and sleeping tablets that I didn’t take, put me on Lexapro, I got a 48 hour holter at my own request as I felt I’d ectopics, and that came back normal. I was on the Lexapro for a year and quit in April 2020. The nocturnal issue was always in the back of my mind as it’s pretty frightening and it’s starting to come back now again. Really pissing me off as I exercise daily, eat well, don’t drink or smoke. Seems to be the long time GAD lurking in the background that I’ve had since 2014. Hi Krazeeization. Naturally I can't give you a diagnosis as Im not a doctor but its good that you have had your heart thoroughly checked ruling out any structural problems. . Sudden flushing and a fast heart rate are common symptoms of a panic attack. Constantly worrying in the day puts the body in a high state of alert which can keep you awake at night or cause nocturnal panic attacks. Try to ignore the anxious thoughts about your heart but if you can't, try using a health anxiety thought record to challenge the thoughts. The tests that you have had are good evidence against the thoughts. Here is a link to a health anxiety thought record www.getselfhelp.co.uk/docs/HealthAnxietyThoughtRecord.pdf

Thank you so much for your videos! I’ve been suffering from panic and GAD for a few years now but recently in the past few months I’ve developed health anxiety which got so bad I lost over 12kgs in less than 2 months. My anxiety gave me serious physical symptoms that would be there even when I’m not anxious and then that would make me anxious all over again, are you able to do a video explaining that anxiety symptoms don’t just go away on days you don’t feel anxious? And that even though you may not feel anxious one day you’re still going to have physical symptoms while you’re healing and that it’s okay and not to panic about it? These is what kept me in my health anxiety cycle because I thought that once I didn’t feel anxious the symptoms would just disappear
I also have some symptoms you may be able to add or do another video on that might help others from my own experience. Thanks Justy. You are right anxiety symptoms don't just occur when anxiety is high like in panic attack. People with anxiety are often so tuned into their bodies that they can notice symptoms even when anxiety is relatively low and there are also some very real more long term effects like GERD or IBS which can stay around long after anxiety has gone. The next time I do a video on anxiety symptoms I will mention this. Thanks for the suggestion.
Thanks Justy. I have covered many of these in my video '20 anxiety symptoms explained' ua-cam.com/video/Eaoh89a0YD8/v-deo.html and also covered some in my cardiophobia video ua-cam.com/video/jIQEm3wN5QI/v-deo.html I don't think I have covered the burping though unless I mentioned it in my IBS video.

Hello, Martin. I have a question regarding health anxiety which I hope you might be able to answer. It started about two months ago in ernest for me and had many different forms (headaches, racing heart, difficulty breathing) but as of very recently I began to feel a tightness in the chest and a sort of "fuzzines" for lack of a better word near the lungs after I swallow food. Swallowing is also very difficult. It this a symptom of health anxiety or might be something else?
Its difficult to say what is a health anxiety symptom and what is something else because they are all so similar. Difficulty swallowing is common in anxiety which I explain in this video ua-cam.com/video/mj_Vw5yGxtQ/v-deo.html Anxiety can also cause breathing difficulties and chest pains which I explain here ua-cam.com/video/KINhPO_CD_Y/v-deo.html If the symptoms are worrying you use the health anxiety thought record that I describe in this video ua-cam.com/video/FyLuSITxdbw/v-deo.html. It will help you rationalise and see the symptoms in the perspective of health anxiety.
