"The Heat Is On' - Glenn Frey (#2) "Neutron Dance" - The Pointer Sisters (#6) "Axel F" - Harold Faltermeyer (#3) "Stir It Up" and "New Attitude" - Patti Labelle (#41 and #17)
Because of the recognition won by his work here, Bronson Pinchot was soon hired to be in a sitcom called "Perfect Strangers" that gained wide popularity. He and his co-star, Mark Lynn-Baker remain friends. I heard a podcast interview with him once, and not only was he very witty, but he struck me as a very charming and down-to-earth person as well.
Back To The Future Beverly Hills Cop Footloose Fame Ghostbusters Top Gun The Goonies Rocky Young Guns II Eddie and the Cruisers Flashdance (many more) all had hit songs. And all the movies recently have hit songs too....but they're songs from the '60s through the '90s.
Coming to America and Beverly Hills cop 2 are a must watch from Eddie Murphy, also his live stand up specials Delirious and Raw are amazing. He even has an 80s hit record Party all the time with Rick James
Glad you watched this. I like 2 even more. Eddie was also good in The Golden Child which haven't seen anyone react to yet. Coming to America & Trading Places are a must.
8:15 Bronson PInchot. He was amazing and really funny on the tv show "Perfect Strangers", which is what he's best known from. He played Balki Bartokomous. A farmer and sheepherder from the fictional Mediterranean island of Mepos who comes to America to live with his cousin Larry in Chicago. It's my favorite show of the late 80s/early 90s.
That’s awesome! I’ve definitely heard of Perfect Strangers and the character Balki! I think I must have seen caught some episodes on tv when I was little!
Eddie was on fire back in the day; he was the man. (Not like Richard Pryor on fire, just hitting all all cylinders kinda on fire) This soundtrack was on constant replay in 84! Great stuff. Beverly Hills Cop 2 is definitely worth watching. 48 Hours, Trading Places, Coming to America are all excellent too.
Thank you for covering this Absolute Classic. 😃👍 I was eleven when this came out and I'm sure I've watched it at least a hundred times. One of Eddie Murphy's best movies (and that's saying a lot). 🤩
the coolest thing about this movie is the fact that axel's gun is realistic in the sense that he fires the correct amount of bullets and reloads. even the jonh wick movies aren't that accurate.
Such a fun movie. If you enjoyed this, Martin Brest (director) directed another movie with a similar tone in 1988 called Midnight Run starring Robert Deniro, Charles Grodin, and John Ashton (Taggart from this film). It's a great movie, hilarious at times, and a serious at times tone also, like this film. Great reaction, Tara! Your laughing like Foley was hilarious. 🤣
I was about four when I saw this and the second one and I loved them so much. I have the soundtracks for both on cassette in my car, and I do tend to drive a bit quick when certain songs came on. 😁 Also around the 19:57 mark there is a wild Delorean. 😄
Part Two is a great movie too. Watch that one too. :-) Judge Reinhold (Rosewood) is such a good "pure innocent guy" actor. Watch Ruthless People because he's great in that, and the rest of the cast is name actors too.
Thanks for reacting to this one, this was one of my favorite movies growing up. In fact, the name of my band is Taggart. Also, thanks for giving up on editing out the curse words, they really add a lot. I don’t know why YT reactors edit out the curse words when they don’t have to.
Eddie Murphy: regular cast member of Saturday Night Live, 48 Hours, Trading Places, Eddie Murphy Raw (standup comedy), The Golden Child, Coming to America, Dolemite is My Name
Eddie in Trading Places would be a great follow up to this, but make sure you watch it before watching Coming to America. It'll make sense when you watch it.
THIS AND SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE IS HOW I GREW up knowing Eddie Murphy, there is a huge difference between eddie then and eddie now. Now he's more known for Shrek.
Local police forces in Michigan (the opening scenes were set in Detroit) now use the regular "Mars bars"), but the State Trooper vehicles all still use the single "cherry top" light. In most areas of the US, the 'cherry top" light went out of use by the mid-late '60s.
This is really Eddie Murphy at his finest. 48 Hours and Trading places are okay, Coming To America and Golden Child are okay too. I would watch Shrek and Mulan before watching those other 4 though. Great reaction to the movie. The song is Axel F. and was written for the movie, but is a song in it's own right from the movie soundtrack. It reached #1 on a number of charts, but the movie is FULL of great 80s music. Neutron Dance by The Pointer Sisters, The Heat is On by Glenn Frey and a bunch of others. Height of 80's kick butt soundtrack songs.
We called that type of police car a gumball machine. That tough Detroit police lieutenant really was a tough Detroit police lieutenant. He was spotted by the casting director who insisted he play the part. He later was on Detroit city council, and ran unsuccessfully for mayor.
Hi Tara. 🙂 Since no one else has said anything, I thought I might mention that Zack, the guy who killed Axl’s friend whom he also killed, was played by Jonathan Banks, better known as Mike from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.
@@TaraTunesIn All good. Thanks for the reply. Sometimes I just feel compelled to get thoughts out. Gilbert Hill, the man that played Axels boss in this movie, really was a detective and later became the chief of police for the Detroit Police Department. After Beverly Hills Cop he went on to become a Detroit City Councilman
Some of the music is specifically for the movie -- what you were listening to is from Harold Faultebermeyer. I think this is was what he is most remembered for.

Great reaction as always 😀
I grew up on Murphy with his debut on Saturday Night Live. Loved him & loved Judge Reinhold since his debut in "Fast Times At Ridgemont High", but this 1 landed with a thud for me! Guess I was spoiled, cause SNL, his stand-up specials, & his debut in "48 Hours" & his follow-up, "Trading Places" were all 10 out of 10! I know people love this, so it's my loss. I really need to re-visit it because I don't remember a single scene. Here to hit the "like" for the algorithm. The above mentioned, if haven't seen, are all must-see classics you might wanna add to your list? & I'll hopefully see you for the next one, friend! You're doing great! Keep it up!
✌😎❤
Thanks so much for the compliment! And for the great suggestions! :)
You would have a great time reacting to Coming to America. And the song is called Axel F 😉
A great Eddie Murphy movie is "48 hours".
Tara there is a music video of the theme called Axel F , i think by some artist on mtv
Fun movie! 🔍
Beverly Hills Cop 2 is even better
Nutty professor is quite funny
You should check out the Golden Child with Eddie Murphy.
Part II is also a very good movie. Part III, however, is terrible. Don't waste your time watching Part III.
Great movie, great reaction! BHC2 is as good, then it goes downhill.
Hi Tara, I thought that I'd give some of your reactions a rewatch. I hope that you're keeping well?
Hey there! I’m very well thanks!! I appreciate the rewatches!!!
@@TaraTunesIn My pleasure, I'll do some more this week.
