All their homes were what could be termed as dysfunctional. John was the physical side. Claire was in middle of a marriage falling apart and being used by both to hurt each other. Andrew was stuck with a dad who had to have a super jock for a son and would accept nothing less. And Brian had the overachiever parents, they would completely lose it if he EVER dared to bring home less then an A. To the point he almost made such a terrible choice.

You were talking through the scene when they were all whistling the same song, which happens to be the Colonel Bogey March, which was featured in the classic 1957 film, The Bridge on the River Kwai. The one basic similarity between the two films makes placing the song in this movie a very good choice, that I just figured out the umpteenth time I watched this. The actors in this film, probably do not know the history of that song. Budget for making this film when you think about it, was very inexpensive whereas the classic at 66 years ago adjusted for inflation would cost a fortune to make today.
😎👍 Perhaps it's because I'm old (around the same age as Judd Nelson), but what strikes me about this movie now is the fact that if you check over at the IMDB, you'll find that these actors have remained extremely active over the 38 year period since it was made, and yet, I still associate all five of them with the 1980s. I don't think I'm familiar with a single thing any of them have been in in the current century. I still associate Molly Ringwald with movies like "16 Candles" and "Space Hunter, Adventures In The Forbidden Zone." I still associate Ally Sheedy with "War Games" and "Short Circuit." Suddenly, I'm curious to check out what kind of actors they've all become in their late 50s and early 60s. 😄
The Breakfast Club and Weird Science, both (1985), are two of my favorite John Hughes films from the mid-80s. "Don't You Forget About Me!" is an iconic song I've been listening to for the better part of the last 30+ years. I highly recommend watching WS and Sixteen Candles (1984). Can't believe these films are almost 40 years old! They all have Anthony Michael Hall in them. He chose to do TBC and WS instead of European Vacation (1985) So he's the main reason the Griswold kids are played by different actors in each film. Jen knows. She's reacted to Vacation (1983) and Christmas Vacation (1989) Loved the 80s getup with the towel scrunchie ponytail.
The fist in the air freeze... maybe the most epic movie end shot, ever! The 2010 Oscars, the entire cast gets onstage to do a memorial for him, plus Ferris Bueller and home alone kid! All John Hughes movies must be watched! He did teen angst better than anyone! He was also involved in movies that he's not credited for such as animal House, Caddyshack, stripes, Vacation movies, blues brothers. He was a fast and prolific script writer. Other must watch are, pretty in pink, 16candles, home alone 1-2, uncle Buck, Plains trains and automobiles! Judd Nelson is in my opinion in this movie, the all time best protagonist/ antagonist character, ever written! Just watch all John Hughes movies, and u will get the entire 80s, whether kid movies, coming of age, or even adult with Uncle Buck and Planes trains and Automobiles! Pro tip, when they are smoking pot, Bender doesn't smoke. He gets them all high, on purpose! The goth girl....she doesn't smoke for personal reasons she told the director. She doesn't think her character would need to smoke pot. Also, there's no dialogue in the script....the actors addlibbed the whole scene 😮😮😮. To add more depth....This is why all John Hughes movies must be watched! Including movies he worked on but uncredited for such as vacation, caddyshack, stripes, animal house, blues brothers... Bender is the most singular at one time, protagonist and antagonist together, in one film! He gets them to talk , talk to each other , and be truthful about themselves! Each of their lunches represents their lives, Bender has none. Also, Bender gets them all to do something they normally wouldn't, smoke weed. He doesn't smoke! By the way, what they do during that scene is addlibbed! Carl is the fully grown up and self realized version of Bender! Red head guy is Anthony Michael Hall. He had the most successful and longest movie career. He started in Vacation, and was last seen in The Dark Knight! His fist pump at the end, addlibbed. The principal also in diehard! But this cast all did very good movies after this. Anthony did several John Hughes movies! This, vacation, weird science, pretty in pink, 16 candles, not sure if Hughes did Johnny B Goode. This vast got together about 10-15 years ago at the Oscars, and did a beautiful tribute to Hughes passing. Type in here, the cast Emilio esteves is the son of Martin Sheen, brother of Charlie! of breakfast club at the Oscars tribute to John Hughes. He did an excellent funny movie called Stakeout! Hughes was prolific. He could write entire scripts in a couple weeks! Bender guy did an excellent lawyer type movie, a funny TV show, and was in New Jack City!
1. The woman and little girl dropping of Brian are Anthony Michael Hall's real mother and sister. 2. The late Paul Gleason😇 played Beeks in Trading Places. Also, the idiot assistant police chief in "Die Hard". 3. "Ya got fifty bucks?" was supposed to be twenty. The look on Paul's face was genuine. 4. When getting loaded Anthony Michael Halls reaction with the sunglasses is similar to his performance in "Weird Science". 5. I still use the term "doobage".😎 6. Even John Hughes😇 said the shattering window was a huge reach. 7. I love Ally Sheedy. Personally, I liked her better GOTH.😍😋 8. Parmesan cheese was used for Alison's "dandruff". 9. If you catch it Andrew's dad is scoping out Allison as he's picking up Andrew. 10. John Hughes is picking up Brian. 11. Hughes used this school in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" and "Uncle Buck.
I was a mixture of Bender and Brian. Though eventually taking AP college level courses became too much and finally broke me in my junior year and facilitated becoming more of a Bender. Well, not as confrontational as Bender was though.
Loved the reaction tara. I was 10 yrs old when this movie came out and it Remains my favorite 80s movie of all time. The cast is perfect and the performances are excellent. The soundtrack is great.
This movie has held up well for the most part. The adult was a real jerk, and that hasn't changed much in nearly 4 decades. The teenagers and their problems are still fairly real. I'm glad you liked this one. It's worth going back and checking out every few years. Not many films are like that. I recommend "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" for a lighter teen movie from the same era and the late, great John Hughes.
Huge character growth. (I just did my own thing if I went to school but love the way the movie is laid out) Never really did "peer pressure" as I don't know if I care enough about what other people think. It is better to care about other people than not care and just shut them all out. (didn't wear headphones, had wired ear buds in 1984)
I quote/paraphrase this movie a lot ever since I saw it in high school in the 80s. I especially like using the "well, mister, you find a way to..." on people. :D
At the time it was compared to "The Big Chill" from a couple years before. "It's like a teenage Big Chill." I don't see any Big Chill reactions here on YT. You could be the first.
My 2 fave directors of all time are Stanley Kubrick & John Hughes. As an '80's teen Dude, "Pretty In Pink" was my least fave Hughes, but had to do more with it being a serious film, which I think was his only drama? I can appreciate it a lot more nowadays. Most of his are straight-up comedies, "Sixteen Candles" being my all time fave of his! This was a mix. I was represented by Bender here. I was indeed a "burnout" rebel!😅 I actually went to high-school in Nashville for a yr with Dwayne Johnson/The Rock. Which if interested, he mentions what it was like around me & my crew for him if look up "Dwayne Johnson at 15 yro" on Jimmy Kimmel!😅 I didn't even know I did until he came to town wrestling about 10 yrs ago & my niece told me he mentioned it & looked it up, & was true! It's like what they say about the '60's, if you were really there & hung with me, you don't remember!🤣🤣🤣 He remembers the lunchroom bathroom for sure! We owned that mofo!😅 Great reaction, friend! See ya! ✌🌎❤

Good Morning...or guess I should say "Good Afternoon." Either way, I over slept...again. (LOL) How are y'all doing? Oh, and every time I hear that song ("Don't You Forget About Me"), my first thought goes right to the ending of "Bumblebee" (2018)!
Good job on this Tara. So many quotable quotes. Not to mention memes. Can't wait to see you get to 100k, 500k, etc
John Hughes ruled the 80s! I think there are 2 movies that are the epitome of the 1980s, THE BREAKFAST CLUB and my all time favorite 80s flick, ST. ELMO'S FIRE. In the 80s there was a group of actors called The Brat Pack. Well, members of the Brat Pack are in both of the movies I just mentioned. PLEASE WATCH ST. ELMO'S FIRE. Where The Breakfast Club is about High School, St. Elmo's Fire is about just after college. It's a great movie!!! It was extremely popular in the 80s and rightfully so. Oh and both John Hughes.
John Hughes had a string of great teen films, starting I believe with Sixteen Candles, starring Molly Ringwald, who plays the “princess” here. It’s a great film, even though it has a cringy racism stereotype. Pretty In Pink is excellent too. The only person I could have compared Hughes to is maybe Judd Apatow in the mid 2000s working with Seth Rogen. Very few movies go deeper than surface level when it comes to kids because you can tell the writers are in their 40s and 50s and don’t really understand kids. My Girl and The Sandlot have great kid logic.
The original cut for this movie nearly is complete lost, even after John hues died. It was 3 hours long, there’s some clips you can find of deleted scenes- Alison has a dream during her nap where she pictures Clair as a princess, Andy as a knight. The janitor all tells them their future- bender ends up on drugs , Brian becomes a ceo of a company but commits suicide from the pressure , Claire has a bunch of kids and loses her looks and Allison becomes a pretty damn good poet but nobody cares The part where bender imitates Brian’s home life, Brian responds by showing his home life by going up to a statue in the library and kneeling to represent the statue as his father
As a chef I have a tendency to get the occasional burning my arm or hand. Sometimes when people notice and ask me about it I like to say "this is what you get in my house when you spill paint in the garage".
That was awesome when you said "Eww... olive loaf." I laughed really hard because I wasn't expecting you to say that. I hated olive loaf when I was a kid in the 80's. I had no idea they still made it. Not that I've ever looked for it. I completely forgot about it until you said that.
Undoubtedly a classic from my high school period, except for the unfortunate makeover, in which Allison, a perfectly respectable and artsy goth is transformed into a mall chick for Andrew to drool over. Basically a "Grease" ending in the 'burbs.
I mean... they were just doing it for fun, it's not like they forcd her to change who she is or something. She wouldn't have let Claire give her a makeover if she didn't want one. Allison seemed pretty happy with the way she looked and felt so, that's really all that matters :)
Can I recommend "Girls Just Want To Have Fun"? It is THE BEST 80s teen dance movie. Plus it stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Helen Hunt, and baby Shannen Doherty. It is AMAZING and so much fun.
I watched this movie on TV so many times over so many years before I realized I was seeing the censored version. I never knew they actually smoked weed. I thought I was going to die the first time I saw the full version and realize they're actually was weed in the guys underwear. That just came off as Binder being a smart-ass in the edited version.
My only complaint is the Ally Sheedy makeover. I loved her goth-type look, and her hair and outfit. Then she gets made to look like a middle aged librarian.
"How did people in the '80s wear headphones!?" Well, headphones like yours weren't a thing after portable music was invented in the early '80s with the Walkman and boomboxes. Walkmans have a much smaller set of headphones than yours, and as for boomboxes, well, the point was to boom the music to the whole block, the exact opposite of what headphones do

This is probably my favourite 80's teen movie.
5. I still use the term "doobage".😎
6. Even John Hughes😇 said the shattering window was a huge reach.
7. I love Ally Sheedy. Personally, I liked her better GOTH.😍😋
"hey! teachers! leave the kid alone!"
80's were a blast! Kids today have no idea. I always had a thing for Ally Sheedy back in the day. Yea I'm old. :)
"It's like a teenage Big Chill."
I don't see any Big Chill reactions here on YT.
It's like what they say about the '60's, if you were really there & hung with me, you don't remember!🤣🤣🤣
He remembers the lunchroom bathroom for sure! We owned that mofo!😅
Great reaction, friend!
See ya!
✌🌎❤
I believe that Allison's sandwich was Pixie Stix and Kellog's Corn Pops cereal.
When I was in high school if you got detention then you weren’t allowed to do homework or anything you’re just supposed to sit there and don’t let them catch. You falling asleep either because they will give you another one.
FLASH BACK! I was born in the early 80's and it looks like I'm about to relive it here today! You look Great, btw. . .💖
Hahaha thank you!
@@TaraTunesIn You're Welcome.
@@tomhoffman4330 Tom check out the comment from a guy named Kevin Rose. F ing amazing. Maybe leave him a little note yourself. ( unbelievable! )
@@e.d.2096 I saw it earlier...I've been coming back to "troll" the Comments, helping out Tara like I help out Jen too. Mixed feelings about that particular Comment, I'm still not sure what to say...was afraid I'd start an argument or something.
@@tomhoffman4330 Well I left a nice little note. Tell me what you think?
This is one of my favorite movies all time I'm a lot different now that I'm grown but Junior High and high school I have to say I can relate, it still is a good movie to watch reminiscing how crazy things used to be I should say how different I used to be LOL
When I was in high school, I could’ve Andy’s lunch… ALL OF IT!
Scrunchies were more of a 90s thing. Your whole fashion vibe is also overall 90s…but u get an A for effort. Great reaction, one of the better ones I’ve watched for TBC.
Tara, all I'm asking is " Don't You Forget About Me " (LOL) the question to your viewers is...Which one of these characters were you most like in school? Myself...I was the athletic, freaky, stoner, brainy, socialite type...that nobody liked. But look at me now!
Good Morning...or guess I should say "Good Afternoon." Either way, I over slept...again. (LOL) How are y'all doing? Oh, and every time I hear that song ("Don't You Forget About Me"), my first thought goes right to the ending of "Bumblebee" (2018)!
Lol this is a GREAT question!!! I do talk a bit about which one of the characters I identify most with in the reaction!!
I will probably also do a patreon poll and discussion about this :):)
@@tomhoffman4330 So....what type were YOU in school? My guess is class president,or couldn't get a prom date? Am I close?
@@TaraTunesIn The real truth about me is... Jock, Stoner type...nobody's perfect...right?
the library in the movie was a set. it took several months to build.
Good job on this Tara. So many quotable quotes. Not to mention memes. The scene where they're talking about how they ended up there was improvised by the actors
Edit: I also love the fact that you do a montage @ the beginning of your videos of your reactions throughout the video. Can't wait to see you get to 100k, 500k, etc
Hey!! Thanks so much! I’m so glad you’re enjoying the videos!!
A classic! And yes, really deep.
You are going to love this one.
classic 80s movie. enjoyed your reaction
This is a classic pop culture, that is timeless about peer pressure is School
Yes, it is! :)
The original cut for this movie nearly is complete lost, even after John hues died. It was 3 hours long, there’s some clips you can find of deleted scenes-
Alison has a dream during her nap where she pictures Clair as a princess, Andy as a knight.
The janitor all tells them their future- bender ends up on drugs , Brian becomes a ceo of a company but commits suicide from the pressure , Claire has a bunch of kids and loses her looks and Allison becomes a pretty damn good poet but nobody cares
The part where bender imitates Brian’s home life, Brian responds by showing his home life by going up to a statue in the library and kneeling to represent the statue as his father
I dunno, I've always thought that Ally Sheedy's character was more intriguing before her makeover...
It was a sugar and Cap'n Crunch cereal sandwich, just fyi. :)
Your 80s teen gal look is totally awesome! 🤘
Lol thank you!!!
As a chef I have a tendency to get the occasional burning my arm or hand. Sometimes when people notice and ask me about it I like to say "this is what you get in my house when you spill paint in the garage".
😂😬
The stuff she puts on her sandwich is captin' crunch
80s & 90s Movie's Are The Best 👍 💯, Great Reaction Sweetheart
John Hughes is a bit of a mystery. The Chicago area produces some remarkably soulful people, and there's no clear reason why.
That was awesome when you said "Eww... olive loaf." I laughed really hard because I wasn't expecting you to say that. I hated olive loaf when I was a kid in the 80's. I had no idea they still made it. Not that I've ever looked for it. I completely forgot about it until you said that.
Hahaha I don’t know if they still make it, I haven’t seen it since I was a kid either! So gross though 😂
Good movie. I always love it. And i always note, at the end, that Brian gets no kisses. Accurate..
Poor Brian!!
This was THE Movie of the 80's .....
Best movie ever about peer pressure
Undoubtedly a classic from my high school period, except for the unfortunate makeover, in which Allison, a perfectly respectable and artsy goth is transformed into a mall chick for Andrew to drool over. Basically a "Grease" ending in the 'burbs.
I mean... they were just doing it for fun, it's not like they forcd her to change who she is or something. She wouldn't have let Claire give her a makeover if she didn't want one. Allison seemed pretty happy with the way she looked and felt so, that's really all that matters :)
Just did another task. Going for Number 3.
Great reaction, nailed the freeze-frame.
😂 hahah thanks!!!
great Movie, great reaction Tara.
Another great reaction. One of my favorite films 🔍
Loved the freeze frame 👍🏻❤️🏴🇬🇧
My only complaint is the Ally Sheedy makeover. I loved her goth-type look, and her hair and outfit. Then she gets made to look like a middle aged librarian.
Good movie 😊
This is a classic!
In Canada that movie just came out 😊
Loll

Aww thanks!!!! So glad you enjoyed!!
"How did people in the '80s wear headphones!?" Well, headphones like yours weren't a thing after portable music was invented in the early '80s with the Walkman and boomboxes. Walkmans have a much smaller set of headphones than yours, and as for boomboxes, well, the point was to boom the music to the whole block, the exact opposite of what headphones do
Lol I know :) I was kidding
It was Capt n Crunch in her sandwich not pop corn
Ok lol
Ok, having the timestamp was much easier on this one!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I never really understood this movie.
