Dude, please do more of this, this show dosent get any love from anywhere else and us my #1 childhood cartoon. That later on, just got better the more i understood about the message being told in the overall theme of 009
Agreed. His breakdowns of this series is well done. I'm huge fan of Cyborg 009.
@@CarlosHernandez-rl2wg Were a nearly extinct fanbase man. People only know it from the 1 or 2 episodes they caught on cartoon network but my local Trinidad Tv network consistently showed it its forver with me now
Nah! We’re growing everyday! Cyborg009 will rise again! It’s so intertwined w the history of manga/anime. How could it not?
7:28 ''jaapanese sex-icon char aznable'' i love this channel even more with every video i watch LMAO
finally someone is doing reviews and deep dive of cyborg 009!!!!!!! i love this anime so much, getting introduced to it back in 2008 or 2009, with it emotional moments
2:00 I may be wrong, but Junpei Takeguchi's voice does sound familiar to me from two anime in particular. He sounds like the corrupt politician from the Dirty Pair OAV series, & as Shin's last assassin, Heart, from Fist of the North Star.
Man i love your cyborg 009 breakdown series
Thank-you for making these! I’ve recently gotten into cyborg 009 and it’s so nice to have these. 👍 😊
I thought 009 was a tezuka series for the longest time from the similarities in the character designs.
I always wondered about that voice change. The only other time I can remember that happening was in TMNT 1987.
I'm learning alot of "new" and different stuff about this series^^✨
Ok heres my chance to ask, since i now know the reason for the design choice of 0010's eye stripes.
Why is 004's eyes fully white? It cant be cybernetics because its shown in a flashback so my inly guess it was either taken from something ir just a design quirk
I think that could mainly just be an art style thing.
I had always assumed they were either cybernetics or face tattoos.
@@SuperCosmicMutantSquid I always thought it was cybernetics but he had it before becoming a cyborg ao i guess hes jus naturally just has weird eyes
so worth the wait!!!!! it's great to hear the play-by-play of differences between the anime and manga, since I don't have too much interest in reading the original source material myself, but I'm still curious to know. Was actually really happy to hear 003 is easily reunited with her brother in the manga. I enjoy the time gap aspect of the anime but also Francoise is wonderful and deserves all the happiness in the world haha
I love your videos, love to learn about shows I barely watched but still remember fondly anyways!
004's wife was also disguised as a lion in the manga. don't ask.
Personally, 0010's face design reminds me of Inzauman and Hakaider, though I suppose that just shows how often Ishinomori used that design element.
Those two came way later than 0010.
@@MercuryFalcon I know, I just recognized them as part of the same design trend though I will admit I wasn't really thinking about when any given character debuted when I made the comment.
A lot of people like to fangirl over 002, 004 or Apollo, but me? I like me some 0010. Yes really.
003 for me
Im sure you probably know by now but i just wanted to leave a comment about how the "tezuka characters" are actually part of his star system and get recasted in like every manga, theyre not from black jack and have their own actor names. like the one with the large nose and wing-hair is called duke red
0010 are twin brothers and 0011 is a spider robot. 😀👍
Great video.
Now here’s something weird that I came across. Now I’m more of a dub watcher, and while the dub had allot quips and jokes thrown in I felt it was close enough to the original intent of the story that it didn’t matter. But then my curiosity got the better of me and I decided to switch to the Japanese version with subtitles for End of Battle and Tears of Steel. But to my surprise, the subtitles are almost EXACTLY the same as in the dub, jokes and everything. The only things that were changed being Black Ghost’s poorly translated real name, Skull or Scar in this case, and 0011’s dialogue being different. Other than that the scrip is 100% the same as the dub, which feels very odd to me. This either says to me that the dub is more accurate to the Japanese than I thought, or Dicotek was being lazy and only changed stuff that weren’t entirely said in the dub.
I just checked the episode myself and the sub/dialogue are worded differently. Are you sure you're watching the Discotek Release and not the Sony release that used dubtitles?
@@MercuryFalcon ok so I may have gotten confused because for some reason the UA-cam channel I watched the subbed version on has a mixture of both the Sony dubtitles and the Discotek subtitles. So Tears of Steel, up to Friend have the Sony dubtitles, while everything else is from fan subs……. Makes me wonder why the UA-camr put the episodes like this
@@MercuryFalcon ok so I looked into it and I think I finally got to the bottom of this. The UA-cam channel I watched the subbed version on was from 11 years ago. Meaning that back then the UA-camr most likely decided to use the Sony Dubtitles from Tears of Steel to Friend because at the time those were the only official DVDs of the show, and then everything else he used fan subs since Discotek didn’t release the show back then yet.
Why didn’t I just look at the subtitles from the release on Retrocrush? Because I’m very stupid.
Wasn’t expecting Char
Me neither
Let's go..... Cyborgs?!
Notice how in Derek Stephen Prince’s episodes, 009 doesn’t have allot of lines. Isn’t that weird?
He speaks a decent amount in Satan of the Deep, the first one he's really only in one scene though.
@@MercuryFalcon yeah but most of his line on Satan of the deep he doesn’t have a whole lot to say. I think the more accurate thing for me to say was Derek’s episodes are when 009 isn’t really the main focus of the episode. Like Tears of Steel is focused on 004, and Satan of the Deep didn’t really have a focus character.
@@jf4132 Yeah its possible they only had time for 10 episodes and decided those episodes were less consequential compared to the episodes centering around 0012 and 0013. My last viewing was in Japanese so I'll need to check the dub again to see how prominent he is.
How dare you Sony for insult Derek Stephen Prince's voice role for Joe? Derek is an interesting voice actor!
Knowing both voices for Joe also voices chaos from Xenosaga Seth (2 and 3) Prince (1) it feels weird knowing that Black Ghost is voiced by Richard Epcar who voices Ziggy.
His names not Black Ghost remember? It’s Skull.
@@jf4132 Oh Right
@@anthonyrios2311 I’m still surprised 009 vs Devilman was the only adaptation to get the name right
@@jf4132 Like with Souther and Thouzer
@@anthonyrios2311 who?
Do they ever say how fast 009 is in the manga or anime? Btw love the breakdown 👍
He can reach mach 5, so about 3.8 thousand miles per hour.
@@MercuryFalcon Thanks. Also, is it me or does it seem most cyborgs after 009that have an accelerator match or exceed him in speed? lol
@@zeromongerj6573 It makes sense, The accelerator is so good anyone that can use it should. In the manga all the assassins have one except 0012 because he is a building. It also makes sense that they'd only get better at making them like how 002 has one of the first ones but 009s was the latest and thus stronger.
@@MercuryFalcon Ok. From a realistic standpoint, since everything either stops or slows down when it’s used, shouldn’t it be at light speeds?
@@zeromongerj6573 Not really, time is relative no matter what speed you're going so for anyone going mach 5 without the assistance of tools I imagine everything looks much slower, both because of the forces of that speed producing relative time, and because to use it without immediately crashing into a wall your brain activity would have to dramatically increase, which their bodies were probably designed to do.
I love the comparison to the Manga and anime
Honestly the examples you showed about the English dub is the reason why I never watched this adaptation except in Japanese sub and the first one I found were of very poor quality
I am watching 2001 version honestly I don't like some of the changes
Not a bad show and the subs I'm watching are great
I'm mostly a manga reader
