That star system idea is pretty neat
Holy crap, the mad machine and nutso waves were so obviously the inspiration behind Mavericks in some of the MegaMan X games.
These are some good analysis's, still waiting on the next part.
Love these retrospective videos. I wish there were more, I would love to see your perspective on other episodes as well.
013 should have survived and been part of the team ! in a limited capacity
Its hard to explain but something about Camel's death felt way more tragic and stuck with me way longer than I was expecting for a one off character.
Insightful assessment of the villains arc of the Cyborg 009 saga.
007 aka Great Britain, being the Blue Ranger while being titled the 'spastic child' is unintentionally funny. One being a child because 007 was one in the early anime adaptations. And spastic is a offensive word in the U.K.
i've always wanted to hear someone else's perspective and thoughts on this amazing story.
looking forward to the next episode!
5:06 I knew that scruffy black haired teen looked familiar. Another character in that camp is Kotaro from the Kamen Rider Black manga. Perhaps if I read more of Ishinomori’s manga I’ll compile the star system roles I see.
Edit: Kamen Rider Black manga spoilers ahead...
The evil mansion controlled by a computer brain is also used in one of the final arcs of the manga, as Gorgom officer Shiva’s true form
New subscriber here! Cyborg 009 was probably one of my first "non typical" anime that wasn't on the level of normie notoriety as a Sailor Moon, DBZ, or Pokemon. Was always bummed that the entirety of the manga still isn't available in English, but have been enjoying these videos for added context.
Man, I how you continue with this series. It’s really well done.
Wonderful series! Me and my two brother grew up with Defenders of The Vortex through that US video compilation, we've been Cyborg 009 fans ever since! The main anime series you're revisiting is also awesome of course!
Wait what? I had no idea the Blue Ranger was usually the comic relief. In the Sentai shows I’ve seen the Blue Ranger was usually the second in command while the Green or Black Ranger was the comic relief. I haven’t seen a whole lot of Sentai I’ve only seen Gingaman, GoGo V, Dekaranger, Boukenger, Timeranger, Go Onger, Megaranger, Goseiger (which I own a subtitled dvd of), Gokaiger, and Liveman, (most of those I haven’t even finished yet) so there’s probably something I’m missing. But from some moments I’ve seen blue Ranger was usually the serious one while the green and black Ranger was usually either the genius or the goof off, though I could be miss-remembering it has been a while since I’ve seen those shows
It changes at times but blue is sometimes the comedic one. Examples include Akira from Maskman, Youhei from Turboranger, Dan from Zyuranger, and for a female example Ako from Jetman.
There’s also Mitsuki and Luna from Akibaranger season 1 and 2 respectively. I feel like I have to list them separately from Ako since every member of Akibaranger is the comedic relief. You know... since it’s an adult oriented comedy Sentai.
@@calebgoodman3028 I don’t think Akibaranger should really count since that was a parody of sentai
@@calebgoodman3028 oh wait you already mentioned that nvm
I though the Yellow Ranger was the comedy relief in sentai.
(Yellow Lion, Yellow Owl, NinjaYellow, TimeYellow, & GaoYellow)
4:52 A LOT of comic book artists, Japanese and American, use the "Star system".
Hey king ima need more of this series pronto
I managed to find 2 dvds of this series almost a decade ago and watching this has made me want to watch them again.
0013 being mute could be a result of trauma and ptsd caused by the war.
He isn't old enough for that to be the case.
@@MercuryFalcon That's true but maybe it still fits as a representative possibility then a literal one, since everyone else seems to suffer some form of disibiltiy that could be brought on by war. Also while 0013 isn't literally old enough to be effected by the war, cases of trauma can cause mutism something that Ishinomori may have been aware of or seen after the war.
0012 is a woman who lives in a house with a secret and 0013 should team up with the other cyborg to take down black ghost. 😀👍
Great video again as usual, 6 gold bananas to you!
Let's make it a 100 gold bananas 🙂 mercuryfalcon never disappoint
These were really good☺️I enjoy these 💫🌟🌺
Hope we get more in the future
002 also has an accelerator, but its a weaker prototype
If I had a nickel for everytime I found an interesting retrospective that never finished id have three nickles, which isn't alot but it's wierd its happened three times
what are the other two?
I always wondered why the villains were named with two zeroes in front of their number. Like shouldn't 0011 just be 011?
Just discovered this retrospective, great stuff.
love the in depth analysis and comparisons and trivia I learned from this series, wish there could be more coverage on the rest of the anime
loving this breakdown of this great series
I’m surprised no one’s talking about the astro boy connection
Where is the next episode?
Are you still going to do like the rest of the series
You deserve way more subs, keep it up.
2:53: I'm pretty sure I also saw something like this in a Megaman game....
Hey, do you still have that vintage anime Discord chat channel? I'd love to join it.
I've been going back and re-watching this whole series recently because I only really got to see bits and pieces of it waaay back when it was on Toonami. It's pretty good.
I revamped it into my new discord but grandfathered anyone previously in into it. Access is through my patreon
J from gaogaigar is a reference to cyborg 002
Amazing 😻🤩❤️🔥
Cool video. But you know what would be great? History Of Robotech Part 4.
Did something happen to this series? I understand if it did, I'd just like to know
Wasn’t getting as many views, it’s just in the back burner atm
@@MercuryFalcon I just found this channel because of these videos, so if you do ever decide to continue it I look forward to seeing it.
What episode did the 0012 look alike come from?
In the 2001 version joe is 18 so of course he knows how to drive
Just because he’s 18 doesn’t mean he has to know how to drive. I’m 24 and I don’t know how to drive. One part because it’s unnecessary for my living circumstances, another is out of fear because I have narrow roads and large cliff-sides.
Is Joe cursed to not keep any friends?
what's the song?
ua-cam.com/video/0tmk__xriJM/v-deo.html it's called countdown
plllzzz post more
0012 felt out of place
Hoping you can just review the anime instead of analyzing each ep of the series
His analytics are a lot more interesting and insightfull than any review would be.
