Please continue this. I get to the point at the end of the video but I don’t know how to progress through blue science. Your tutorials have helped heaps so far
@@greatunclekeefie First, craft a vehicle, it's faster than running. With that, you need to start exploring and find an oil field, small pink dots on the map. You'll need to research oil pumping derricks and fluid technologies, etc, then craft a derrick for each oil deposit. You'll also need a storage tank for fluids (since you can't carry them as you would other, solid objects) and a ton of pipes to transport it all.
Holy smokes, I watched this and 1 hour flew in minutes. Great content, stregiht to the point and I really enjoy the design. I got hooked on the game over the weekend spending like 16 hours or more and was looking just for some ways to make the base more efficient. Thanks!
This is great help. Its slower but much more informative and fun. Unlike some peoples videos shoving everything they know into 30mins, while overwhelming but somehow not explaining certain helpful things.
Thats way better than the Tutorial! I first builded the "treadmill" like a street trying to connect everything, instead of pulling it Over. My First base is way to chaotic designed ^^
you did a very informative playthrough yet I still get so confused on grasping the concepts. It's deff way more complex than any game i've played before. I love it.
This is a very good introduction to the game. New players watching other expert base building videos will notice a different layout ( a ''bus'' ). Don't worry if your first base dosen't have a nice clean ''bus'', as you'll be making a second cleaner base anyway.
Bloody hell. This has blown my mind. Im new to this game struggling with the tutorial. Thought i would watch this for help..... made me realise that the old school way of slowly building this one at a time is sure as hell not the way to go I'll take the tips i can from it. And return at a later date. Sooooooo much. Edit: just finished.... my brain is melting.
Definitely had to watch this one a couple of times as I learned about the game. This guide was supremely helpful in teaching me how to play this game. It completely un-spaghetti'd my view of how this game should be played. Gearing up for my first launch now, and I'm still very thankful I found this guide.
I watched this video today and built my base like that! You gave me a good understanding of the mechanics in a good pace. Awesome quality! We need a hour 1 to 2 video :D
Great tutorial video. The panic when the biters attacked was pretty funny. And for some reason, the fact you decide to drop the pistol in the middle of the base to forget about it got me lol
Es increible como consumo tu contenido hace años y aun no entiendo el 90% de lo que decis, aun asi siempre me quedo con lo mas importante al menos. Buen video
Best start up guide ever! I've been playing this game from the beginning but my production ratio was low, spaghetti like a pinata and only unlocked 7 achievements. Coz of early acces i lost alot of my bases and didnt feeled to play again (scared to loose again lot's of lot's of lot's of hours for nothing) When i discovered this guide, i would give it a new try, loaded my last save (where i was already playing 14 hours or so and handcraft 70% of the time). Then i decided okej this guy is thinking big, i was thinking uhm small xD, let's copy these tips/guide so thank you for a good start up guide. Now i know how to expand (that's what i think hmh).
This is a truly excellent guide. You walk new players through each and every aspect a player may need going into the game. If I had seen this guide at the beginning of my playtime, I can't imagine how much time it would have saved. Your content is great and I hope you continue to grow as a UA-camr!
25:40 - You can make the 3:2 green circuit arrays symmetric, at least. Just leave one tile gap between each pair of green circuit assemblers, centered on the middle of the center copper wire assembler. This also allows you to use 3x yellow slow inserters to input copper wire to each green circuit assembler without throwing off the ratio of input from each wire assembler by putting just two fast inserters (which tries to draw twice as much from the center wire assembler).
Thank you, that was very helpful! I just started the game and my first two freeplay worlds were a mess and I abandonded them when I was about to start steel production. My third world is thriving. (Although I am now struggling with keeping my base safe from evolved biters). Also, thank you for using video chapters!
I keep restarting because I mess up a design in the first hour. I’m trying to figure my own stuff out while *kinda* using this video. I’ve already learned so much.

Is a video planned for the midgame aspect oil management blue science automation and more? Would be amazing ! i'm back to factorio from before patch 1.0 and i love every aspect of this video
Dear @Trupen, Thank you for this insightful video. I recently started again with Factorio and I learned a lot from this video. I had the tutorial up to 5 (the trains one) and this made me start a new game. This went kinda well till the first 4 science ones (red, green, blue and black) and things went really confusing Due lack of space, bottle necks and my lack of understanding of the new concepts like trains and bots. So I have one double life line of copper ore and and a 3 belt life line of iron ore so far. First I was glad to have solar panels and accumulators - until I realised that my steam engines work working night and day. Took me a bit to find out out to switch them on and off - rather how to implement an R/S construct with a simple components available (I missed the feedback loop). Once that was mastered came fluid chemistry. I was told the current stage is a lot easier, but still was a challenge to connect things up and the first 2x life belts (sulphur and explosives) back to the main base were born - as I did not understand trains. I tried to create a train for solid fuel, (something) to base and steel and green circuits back, but it was mainly sponged things up and never properly worked. Advanced fluids was okish, as I had RS-latches for heavy -> medium -> Carbon (In theory). Later I found out that 1/2 of my plants were not properly hooked up, thus not working - my RS-latch boundaries were wrong (they were setup for a single tank and now I had 5 - I wish Factorio had a % function instead of pure count - similar to accumulator ( e.g. Coal absolute and coal %). Last thing was growing pains. Ore patches getting low, lack of base components (e.g. copper plates, green circuits, ...) and fixing things around limited space. I wished to just abandon the old base - but had no idea how to setup a new base any better - having no blue prints and lack of understanding of the new logistics network.
@@Trupen I did turn the biters down and with everything researched except white beaker science, they are not a problem. Problem for example is I am stuck with red belts - I have lubricant on the edge and belts in the centre, but no way to get them "neat" together, as all space is taken by spaghetti. I have Long 4 row belts of Iron and Uranion feeding into the "city", because I don´t understand trains. Main belts of copper/Iron plate running dry and new spaghetti to fill them up. I have setup Uranium Mining and enrichment that I have 30 boxes of 238 and I think around 200 units of 235. But stuck on how to automate enrichment, that I don´t starve the automation. I could build a silo, but don´t know where. Growing pains of the undecided that got afraid of complexity and thus also afraid to do a fresh start.
If anyone else is having the problem that you cant put Items in machines wit Z its probably because its assinged to Y you can re-assing it in the settings under Controlls, Basic Interaction, and Drop Item
Plz continue this i love it I have only like 50h played on factorio And i can see now that i have to start New game i learned so mutch whit this one video
My first hour (finished the game on peaceful multiple times, wanted to try with biters): Establish mining/smelting. Establish turrets w/ furnaces surrounding them. Lose everything to biters Rebuild Get power. Get some basic automation lose everything to biters. rebuild. lose everything to biters. rage quit.
This video is so good but I think my favorite part of it is the fact (I assume its intended) that some of this stuff is set up without you mentioning it so that later on when you go to automate some higher tier craft you'll find that it's already partially set up, like with the Assembling Machine 2s. I was going to set up automation for them and I ran over to my setup where I was making Assembling Machine 1s to grab a few and instantly realized it was perfectly set up for me to just add Steel to the existing setup.
I usually set up some turrets to fall back to and spam grenades from a jeep when I attack biter nests early game. EndgameI use the rocket launcher, artillery and the spider with rocket launcher.

Please continue this. I get to the point at the end of the video but I don’t know how to progress through blue science. Your tutorials have helped heaps so far
Get bots if you have blue science
@@Weeddemoman653 how do I make blue? After green I’m completely lost
Juat stated playing the game, you got firther in 20 mintirs than i did in 3 hours. Thank you, this video was SO helpful
you did a very informative playthrough yet I still get so confused on grasping the concepts.
I have more stuff if you want :)
@Trupen oh trust me, ive already watched a few. Just learning.
It's good to know a channel that knows how to play factorio
I could totally see an April 1st version of this, where it's actually the first hour of a speedrun.
Consider that speedruns usually send a rocket soon after the first hour, that would be quite good experience for new players ;)
Dude, I was getting so frustrated, this helped me find ideas and made it so much more fun. Thank you.
glad to help
Glad I could help you
so smooth and optimized
I wish this video never ends. Its so satisfying to watch!
1:07 finally someone who pronounces "R" the way I don't have to think about what letter "aaaaar" is.
:)
I keep restarting because I mess up a design in the first hour. I’m trying to figure my own stuff out while *kinda* using this video. I’ve already learned so much.
Good luck!
I dont usually comment on UA-cam videos but this was the best game tutorial i watched ngl
thank you for this! the tutorial was a bit stressful for me to go through so i struggled on understanding what was happening. i can easily look through this video if i end up getting stuck again!
Played the demo and got the game recently, havent had a good night sleep since, 10/10
Please make a continuation of this, or a video on bringing in resources via train/oil with pumps
I just came back to Factorio after a long break. This is great to see.
Are you planning to continue this? I learned a few things and would like to see how you handle oil and trains.
I'm not planning to continue it as a series, but I will make a whole playthrough like this from start to finish
the "electro-city" grew on me during this. thanks for this easy to understand tutorial my friend
My pleasure!
going along with you sir has been a pleasure this was amazing
Is a video planned for the midgame aspect oil management blue science automation and more?
Would be amazing !
i'm back to factorio from before patch 1.0 and i love every aspect of this video
you forgot the most important step go purple
The game might be challenging in the beginning, if you want just lower the biters settings for more peaceful experience
I just got the game, was a bit confused at first, but your guide has been a big help
Glad it was helpful
No freakin way i just bought this game yesterday and got a damn updated video about starting in factorio well, ty dude
If anyone else is having the problem that you cant put Items in machines wit Z its probably because its assinged to Y you can re-assing it in the settings under Controlls, Basic Interaction, and Drop Item
Plz continue this i love it
I have only like 50h played on factorio
And i can see now that i have to start New game i learned so mutch whit this one video
My first hour (finished the game on peaceful multiple times, wanted to try with biters):
Establish mining/smelting.
Establish turrets w/ furnaces surrounding them.
Lose everything to biters
Rebuild
Get power.
Get some basic automation
lose everything to biters.
rebuild.
lose everything to biters.
rage quit.
600% starting area + expansion turned off is the way to go
Also trees help a lot when comes to pollution absorption
Amazing video, exacly what I needed. Thank you
This video is so good but I think my favorite part of it is the fact (I assume its intended) that some of this stuff is set up without you mentioning it so that later on when you go to automate some higher tier craft you'll find that it's already partially set up, like with the Assembling Machine 2s. I was going to set up automation for them and I ran over to my setup where I was making Assembling Machine 1s to grab a few and instantly realized it was perfectly set up for me to just add Steel to the existing setup.
I have like 80 hours in this game and still have no clue what I'm doing. This video is great 👍
Glad I could help
This video was amazing! I’d love follow-up videos where you keep progressing!
I must be the best kind of follower. I have thousands of hours in Factorio and yet I still watched this video anyway.
Trupen, your videos are great. I like your mini-mall for belts and inserters. I'm gonna make similar in my new game :)
Thanks. Useful for preparing for Space Age
I usually set up some turrets to fall back to and spam grenades from a jeep when I attack biter nests early game. EndgameI use the rocket launcher, artillery and the spider with rocket launcher.
I am only about 4 minutes in and I have to say you are a genius
edit: also I didnt know if you put furnaces right in front of drills you dont need a belt or anything to load the ore!
You can use this map string to start on the same map as I did
pastebin.com/gYkbkr7x
Did you know that the Factorio devs made a way on how to, and I quote; "get rid of all the pistols Trupen made."?
It's in the most recent Friday Facts, #375 - Quality.
trupen
Thank u!
where to paste stuff or just how to get the world pls help
@@kupalopez you paste it when you are creating the world, it's on the same window as your ore richness settings.
bro, u know what i need ?!
i need you to stay next to me holding a stick, whenever i do stupid things while playing, i get a hit
🤣🤣🤣
this is awesome, keep going
Trupen widziałeś?? Masz wzmiankę w Friday Factorio Facts!!! :D Gratulacje!!! Od teraz jesteś nieśmiertelny
This is the kind of video I hope all the new players brought in when the expansion drops finds.
Hi, I'm restarting with the expansion thanks for the tutorials they are really good !
33:33 you kinda forget that it's OK to put stuff on the ground instead of inside a box. Thanks for the visual reminder here lol
Chop trees. Mine is for rocks. Not wood. Love your work.
47:10 "its annoying that they are swimming, so lets just deconstruct them" got me dead
"first hour"... Meanwhile I literally followed this video for 8 hours...
I just found your channel. Thank you for all your videos.
An thus video just gave me so much to start with. I just started playing. I have so much fun. Thank you :)
This was wonderful - you explained everything so well. Thank you.
I got so frustrated with my spaghetti factory when I reached the part with military science and blue science.
I wanted to just quit this game.
But thanks to your videos I'm motivated to keep playing.
Trupen you are the guy i was looking for. Thanks man it was really help full. Can you do another video same like this but "Your second hour in Factorio" Please?
