Scott M The people taking the course along with the Chef were told that the two cameras were there to help promote the class, and they all bought it. There's an interview on UA-cam somewhere where the producers of the show talk about how one or two of the people in the class realized something was going on about half way through, but the Chef was fooled up until nearly the very end. The chef wouldn't have agreed to this if he'd known the script from the start anyway, since he came off looking pretty oblivious in a number of ways, not exactly good publicity for him.
