One of the artists who worked on it (Maciej Kuciara) was really disappointed by it. Imagine working a whole year on a huge project, giving your blood and soul and in the end you see THIS.
"Hey guys, you know how we have such an advanced understanding of genetics that we can literally use it to make people immortal?" "Yeah?" "Why don't we just test her DNA to make sure she's the reincarnation of the Queen?" "Meh, she kinda looks like the statue, so..."
If you would have watched the movie and not just the recap, the side trying to kill her did test her. And since the side trying to kill her were siblings of the side trying to promote her, it was common knowledge.
Well to be more precise, it happens when the Agents load in and commandeer some of the digital bodies of the Matrix' residents. To me that seems less like a glitch than it is the "computer" if you will, experiencing a mild hangup upon loading in something a bit harder on the processing.
Imagine if after the Beeeeees scene Jup started to realize she could actually influence living beings and slowly started experimenting and becoming better at controlling even people, but maybe only after interacting in close proximity. She could have become a character that could get out of sticky situations on her own, using only her cunning, and she could have had a taste of what real power felt like, almost falling to the dark side of control and debating with herself or others if what she was capable of doing was right. This could have also justified the ending where she prefers to stick to a job (at least part time) that grounds her in reality and in the life of normal people. What we got is princess Peach, always in a new castle while Mario hurries to save her. (I realize that those powers would be really similar to Code Geass, but the difference in the story is enough to make it original. Also, no fan of Code Geass would scoff at the possibility of seeing that kind of plot in a well done block buster)
I'm am both a fan of Code Geass and of your idea here. That would have made an incredible movie to watch her learn to manipulate and maybe feel bad cuz she starts manipulating channing tatum or something. Damn! Damn damn damn, I wish that shit existed.
You could have even added in some sort of mental conditioning to the CT character and having Jupiter around could have somehow fixed that or reversed that, give him more personal stakes in the movie rather directly tying back into the who of Jupiter but the what, as in what she can do, not just have her fall in love or whatever simply because the plot demands it or because she's special. As a story beat it is fine but it didn't really help the movie. I roll my eyes at these "save Earth" centric movies when apparently there's a whole lot more going on beyond our own planet.
Jupiter is what I call a "Pinball Protagonist." They don't really do anything, they just get bounced around by the plot. Literally the most interesting thing about her, her goal in life is to not have to scrub toilets any more. "Oh, I'm the queen. Of the universe? So, I don't have to scrub toilets any more."
The problem is people thinking of Jupiter as the protagonist. In this particular story, she is the McGuffin. The protagonist (Kain) has to protect her from the antagonists (the space royals) The problem comes from the writers choosing to use her as the point of view character, which is somewhat necessary as Jupiter represents the audience; she is clueless about this world she has stumbled into and Kain's explanations to Jupiter are exposition for the audience so Jupiter and the audience learn about the world at the same time. I would imagine they would have given her character a lot more agency had they been able to make sequels.
@@FURognar Right, exactly. As writers, it's hard for the audience PoV character to have free will, because you have to second guess the Audience. Sitting there, and trying to second guess what they would do in that situation, and maybe wondering if they brought enough popcorn? If they're thinking about the popcorn, then you failed to keep them immersed.
I was going to say “Well, I bet a lot of the problems present here are because of the book the movie was based on” but apparently there wasn’t a book, which blew me away. I assumed this was just another Twilight clone, like Hunger Games, Divergent, etc...
There are a lot of Hunger Game clones like Divergent but don't you dare call Hunger Games a clone of Twilight just because they're both YA novels with female protagonists.
I call them Twilight clones because as far as I’m concerned, they were chasing the coat tails of Twilights Success. However I also think Hunger Game clone is appropriate as well.
After that they made Sense8, which was applauded by both fans and critics. I pray the new film won't end up like the absolute nonsense of a film called Jupiter Ascending(or, as I tend to call it, Bullshit Ascending).
@@Axterix13 And Matrix 4 has Alexsandar Hemon (of The Lazarus Project book fame) and David Mitchell (the well-known and commercially successful writer) though.
My friend and I went to see it in theaters. He was the kind of guy that points out negative stuff and I was the kind of guys that points out positive stuff. But when we got out, we couldn’t argue on what was good or bad because none of us got what what we just saw
The movie had one thing that ruined everything for me: it was another typical "young adult romance adventure" movie (like Divergent), were the main characters are just there to fall in love and sell tickets rather than making a story well developed.
But even that part was done poorly. There was no lead up to them suddenly being in love. No longing looks, no almost kissing, no reasons why they were attracted to each other (except that she's always liked dogs.... ICK!). Just suddenly in the middle of the movie they were in love, for literally no reason. It did nothing to push the storyline, it made absolutely no sense.
I thought that part was stupid. No need to a love connection but Hollywood used his being a lower part of a cast system and a different species to make their usual ridiculous point.
All I know is the whole time I was watching Jupiter Ascending I was cackling at seriously it took itself. Where as, when I was watching The Matrix, I was seriously questioning my own existence and the meaning of life itself.
@Troll uNeed Hercules had to pass through a number of tests and obstacles in order to reach his goals. He actually had GOALS that needed to be reached. He had a hero's journey. This version of "Mulan" is moved along by the movie script in order to check off all of the necessary POC feminist, oppressed, gender-fluid, and whatever other special snowflake boxes. Her motivations are dictated by a political agenda, not out of heroic necessity.
@GroB Hahn to be fair, was The Matrix always intended to be a trilogy? Joel Silver, the mega producer at Warner Brothers, took a big risk on The Matrix, especially after a lot of the initial casting decisions fell through. Who's to say he didn't go to the Wachowskis and tell them, "Yeah, you're going to make more sequels. Why? Because I gave you a fuck ton of money to make your movie. People loved it, so you're going to make me more money." And if you know anything about Joel Silver, well... In case you don't, here's an example of a story about him. He was dating a girl in 1980s. She wanted to be an actress and he, with the clout he had, could make that happen. He told her that she shouldn't worry, and he had the perfect part for her in his next Blockbuster feature. And to his credit, she did get a part in his next movie, Die Hard. No, she's not John McCain's wife. You remember that scene when Hans Gruber's team infiltrates the building, and there's that brief brief scene when the topless woman runs out of the office when she's caught getting fucked? Yeah, that was the girlfriend If I'm wrong, and it was always intended to be a trilogy, Joe is still a coke head cunt, and the Wachowskis still wrote Bound and Assassins. Bound is fantastic, and Assassins is dumb fun
@@eddiedingle767 This is why Joel Silver is not involved at all with the new one. His absence must have provided a creative freedom of 100% to the Watchowskis. That must be a good sign regarding the fate of the film.
I thought Jupiter Ascending was the Wachowskis trying to cash in on the YA movie trend, because it gave me much more of a YA movie feel than a The Matrix clone.
@Podcast - SørenCast Z You're missing punctuation after 'wtf'. You're also missing an apostrophe in 'I'm' . Fix your grammar before you try and belittle others.
@Ben A Thanks, but the difference is I wasnt trying to belittle others. I don't really care about fixing grammar but was just pointing out the hypocrisy in the original statement.
I kept wondering what's YA is, until i quicm search it and it turns out to be Young Adult stories. Basically this film is a more expensive, bombastic and CGI-filled Twilight lmao
Makes sense. Him and Sean Bean were the ones actually planning and doing stuff, while Jupiter didn't do anything and needed to keep getting saved by them all the time.
That's why the great George Lucas was so insistent on the editing and the post-production. You can turn a boring film into an exhilarating adventure and vice versa.
First question to ask when determining the nature of a cinematic threat: "Could Tom Cruise outrun it?" First question to ask when determining if something is, or is not, a planet: "Would Galactus eat it?"
@@theskieshavefallen8408 hence why women like Twilight. You know how I knew my two female cousins were talking about Twilight without them even them mentioning it or saying names? because their conversation was so generic and boring while speaking about two characters in a book they loved.
It might be because there are "already a lot of movie UA-camrs" but Filmento is one of the most unique ones I've seen, and he uploads really frequently and with very different themes instead of talking about "Subverting Expectations" in everything.
@SunBoxesSky Alois He really explains everything super well, and even as someone that didn't know anything about storytelling, I understood what he said since the beginning
@@Naxtor72 I think Filmento is really good because he doesn't really "review movies" He often/usually picks a concept to discuss within the movie and goes into detail about how that concept applies to the film. Also, the fact that he adds in suggestions for improvements is fairly unique in UA-camrs If you like Filmento you should probably look at Maggie Mae Fish too
@SunBoxesSky Alois Yeah, from watching a few of his videos I could already tell in the first minutes what was wrong, the classic "Show, don't tell" rule was broken throughout the whole movie. I actually feel like I learned something about movie-making
The worst part for me is the fact this movie has some potential, if that world building was made right. Sumarizing, the galaxy is ruled by a immortal elite of rich people that harvest life from other worlds, and, since the heir of vast a vast empire has born here, Earth is the next target. Looks cool, right? Put some awesome action scenes in it and you have a great movie... or mix everything in a convoluted way and get Jupiter ascending.
That is my problem with this movie, wasted potential. I loved the action style, and I felt a lot of Dune vibes to the worldbuilding. I think the problem is that they tried to make a love story with a "little princess" feel to it. If they rushed to the point, made it more action-packed, and only explored One of the Siblings, we could have a good start of a series.
In many ways those are worst kind of failures, the ones that had potential to be great but wasted that potential. I'd say the central love story isn't the issue here so much as the main focus character (indeed the one the film is named after) being essentially a prop for the other characters and also unclear and vague motivations for the villains. Granted I've not seen the movie myself but everything I've read/heard is that Jupiter isn't really actively involved in her story so much as simply taken where the story needs her to be, either physically or emotionally. If you made the focus character more of an active part of the story it would help a lot, for example have save herself from the villains at some point.
Add some extra dread from a Harvest happening, make it unpleasent and chilling, show that this technique is just as horrible as it's named... or don't if you fear kids will be scared
I also just feel like the concept was so overdone. "Oh no, aliens from a plant we can't see are coming to destroy us". VS. the Matrix that tells us it's the robots we created, and these things have already happened to us, we just don't know. It's already a much more intriguing concept than just another alien movie.
There's plenty that could have fixed this. Say that life on earth has a genetic trigger that when activated just POOFS them into the life extension goo... except for Jupiter. Now, you can have the "harvest" trigger by the push of a button. Just hammer in the "life on earth didn't evolve naturally" button to really drive in the concept that our understanding of our place in the universe is a lie, push in a few references to the great filter... ...In addition to giving us an actual protagonist.
@@azofeclipse what if the competition harvested planets like in the war of the worlds, with pain, suffering and destruction, the queen kids did In a way that is more efficient and with less pain, and the reborn queen could just do it with no pain at all, a rapture like event? that would have been much better than talking politics the whole bloody movie. there was a wedding attempt ffs.
@@henriqueribeiro8167 Depends on the kind of a movie one wants to make. Politics movies CAN be fun, but I feel they need a more stable, already known setting. JA might have made for a decent TV series, maybe that was the original idea?
@@azofeclipse Indeed, they could have established the setting better first, done stuff in earth better, then expand t the stars. Possibly a good series, but the main villain was not good at all. You need a scarier bad guy, like the Saurians. Have it set on the earth with a reptilian alien conspiracy,
@@kkeennppss Vandread Also interesting plot where men and women are raised on different planets But the harvesting plot is later I hope it isn't a spoiler
Star Wars: A New Hope does the same thing. The opening scene with the Star Destroyer and Tantive IV up until the Droids use the Escape Pod is your exciting intro to sell the viewer on what can happen in this universe. THEN we get the boring farmboy so we the audience know WHY Luke wants to escape, because we know there are cool space battles, because we've SEEN those space battles.
Funny thing is wasn't there an earlier version of A New Hope where it didn't open like that? Where the first scene was Luke being a farm boy for a while and we only saw Darth Vader trying to get the Death Star plans later.
@@Triumph263 Yeah, that's the rough cut he showed to his director friends, I believe. And after that, things got shuffled around and a bunch of Tatooine stuff (like Biggs) was cut. Including Luke wearing a hat that just doesn't fit in what we think of as Star Wars. The original plan also wasn't to have the Death Star attacking the rebel base on the Yavin moon. That aspect was edited in in post, adding a sense of urgency to the whole fight. And that's why you get "The Death Star has cleared the planet" announced over a loudspeaker rather than being said in the command room.
An interesting character moment for Jupiter should of been her discovering that she/The Queen invented the technology that causes planets to be harvested, hence why everyone loves her/The Queen and have Jupiter make a choice related to that realization. I’m not a writer so I wouldn’t know what an interesting choice would work and fit for her.
Well, if she's the queen and everybody listens to her, she could just debate herself between "Stop turning people into Gatorade" and "Yes, I'm a queen and my life is better thanks to this Gatorade, so keep doing it I guess". It's not like we see her caring a lot about life anyways...
@@DonVigaDeFierro Actually, that could give her a really interesting choice: Accept people being Gatorade, and she gets to be a queen - inheriting everything related to that technology, and being looked on as the second coming of their bringer of (nearly) eternal life. Or she can value *all* life, reject that, and attempt to create a rebellion. *Some* people will respect her, and she'll have followers - but she doesn't get to be a queen, and she doesn't get to inherit anything. Just make sure if you do that that you make sure that the society that she would be a queen of has some redeeming qualities, so it's actually a hard choice.
I'm starting to notice a pattern with Sean Bean but I could be wrong about it. Whenever he dies, he's in something good but when he lives, he's in something terrible.
I think they literally teach courses on it, but producers and those with money to invest in the movie have likely not done those courses, but because they're financing it they feel their opinions are valid
The prominent problem is that the movie treats everyone else as the main character instead of Mila Kunis. So, the movie feels really unfocused. I think people have a tendency to think that Sci-Fi is easy, but it gets messed so often, because it is not easy at all.
That's a called a passive protagonist. Filmento says it in the video . So you're just repeating twice information we already know . Just like this movie you're criticizing . Ironic 🙏🤣
That might be the true kind of sexism the feminists are complaining about. 'Yo, we have a female lead character in an action movie'.😃 'Cool, what does she do?'😃 'She's a plot device without agency and needs to be saved all the time.😃 🤨
Exactly. The Mary Sue is not feminist because it robs her agency and protects her from all potential challenges or obstacles...kind of like a Damsel in Distress! Except the Damsel in Distress is saved by a (usually) male character in universe, while the Mary Sue is saved by the writer. Jupiter is both somehow. 😆
As a world builder with my own universe, your way of comparing and contrasting examples has been helpful guidance. It makes clear why some things work, while others don't, and has helped me avoid future pitfalls. Thanks so much for your time and effort man! Also been looking at displates for a while now and never quite let myself buy any, so thanks for being a bro and giving me the excuse haha! :D
You know, I could never put my finger on it, but you're absolutely correct. This movie talks about a 'harvest' and movies like such always annoy me. They are talking about an event I've never seen, so my mind could be anywhere imagining the event itself. What Hollywood thinks is suspense is merely annoyance.
Same. Me and my Dad watched it on holiday in a holiday as it was the only DVD available with the TV. I'd already watched it ages ago and fell asleep numerous times so I told my dad not to take it seriously. We spent the two hours laughing our butts off
For me it failed because: 1. The Matrix was the Wachowski's Magnum Opus and they went downhill from there. The Matrix 2 didn't come near the first movie while the third somewhat redeemed itself but still was subpar to the first movie. 2. Mila Kunis doesn't have enough presence to carry a movie. 3. Jupiter Ascending is basically a rip-off of the Matrix, which is never good.
While I can see the parallels, the movie is far from being a rip off. I think the biggest thing dragging the movie down is how more than 50% is impossible to understand CGI action, while the plot doesn't make an ounce of sense. The bits that connect this also don't make much sense.
@@vezokpiraka To me the parallels are só obvious that it's hard to not see this as a rip off. At best I can describe this as very lazy screenwriting by the writers of the Matrix with a lot of copy-paste from the script of the Matrix. It feels like the Wachowski's did what Disney perfeceted with it's movies: take all the elements of a previous successful movie, change the sequence and alter them just that little bit and hey presto, we have a new movie.
This was one of the nicest product placements I've ever heard. Honest, familiar, competently relevant. It makes me kinda want the thing you were advertising for
@16:25 Very funny those two main themes reflect perfectly the world when the movies were made Matrix (1999) : It's about what you do aka judged by the content of one's character . Jupiter(2015) : It's about who you are aka identity Politics
I really want to argue with about how harry got trampled on for the entire series and how he didn't actually get everything handed to him. Then I remembered that Jk Rowling is still trying to change canon and most of my info might actually be from fanfiction
Rogelio Bacanto oh, he definitely didn’t get _everything_ handed to him. Over the course of the series, he has trouble studying, he isn’t nearly as popular as one would expect from his celebrity status, especially in later books, and ultimately he has to go through a lot of trials, trauma, and failures, and has to overcome it all to earn his happy ending by *acting* rather than being carried around, with a good balance of his personal qualities and help from his friends allowing him to succeed. However, a lot of stuff in the early books, including his family fortune, the Headmaster’s attention, the very fact that most of the family abuse problems are mitigated by being sent to the most special school ever, and many events during the early school years, can be attributed to two factors completely outside of Harry’s control: who he is by birth, and Voldemort’s obsessive desire to murder him.

raksh9 as his legal guardians, he still has to come back to them every summer break. Every book usually starts at the Dursley household, with Harry or someone else from the magical world causing a commotion that leaves the household in disarray, so I guess that might sound like comeuppance to some people. To name a few examples, one of their important guests has a cake dropped on her head (I don’t remember if that was in the book or movie only), Uncle Vernon’s sister gets inflated and flies away like a balloon, one of the walls in their house is destroyed after someone gets stuck inside it using fireplace portal magic, or Harry and Dudley narrowly escape an encounter with demonic creatures best described as “despair incarnate”. All of these are from different books. Eventually, they do disappear from the story and are never seen again, but that’s probably better for their own safety.

I actually liked the part where Jupiter was processing her documents to become the Queen. Lol'd at how relatable it was. Then came the plot/ending followed.
For a ling time, I didn't believe they stole nearly all the concept to make The Matrix. After seeing their subsequent failures at every level, I changed my opinion.
@@Clockwork0nions You asked, so I'm just sharing what my individual understanding is. The Matrix and The Terminator franchises are both based on a single treatment by Sophia Stewart. There are a lot of reports that say she won a huge settlement after a copyright lawsuit. Other sources say it's just an Internet rumor/hoax. When I look at everything James Cameron has done, I can see his style. He is a competent filmmaker in his own right. When I look at everything the Wachowski's have done, the ONLY thing that is solid is The Matrix. If these ideas were stolen, it would explain the inconsistencies of the Wachowskis. On the other hand, Soderbergh, Tarantino, Nolan, Aronofsky, Ritchie, Shyamalan have consistent styles and consistent reception according to the way they applied their respective styles to their films. All of this is to say the Wachowskis didn't have much to do with putting their stamp on The Matrix. When they do leave their mark on a film, everyone is left scratching their heads (in a bad way). Filmmakers always have a Magnum Opus, but they only have 1 thing that stands so far and above the rest of their work. Even if they stole the concept, they learned NOTHING from the experience of directing a landmark film. It's all disappointing and baffling really.

I love how Jupiter desperately tries to make you care about the greater universe, and what's happening but fails horribly. Meanwhile 5th Element just has the world as window dressing and I care so much more about what's going on
The Fifth Element is a pretty good comparison between these two flicks. There's a lot of similarities that be drawn between these two movies. Strange technologies, planets under threat, action, a world much larger than we know, other inhabited worlds, villainous aliens, benevolent aliens, strong male escorts to a female protagonist who proves pivotal in saving the Earth/Universe. Heck, even the actresses are both named Mila/Milla and are of Ukrainian descent. The huge difference between Jupiter and Leeloo is that Jupiter was barely a character and more like a Mcguffin and never underwent any kind of development, where as Leeloo was a character whose development and progression could be witnessed throughout the film. From learning how to communicate, to forming bonds with other characters, to realizing the importance of love and how it could be used to triumph over evil.
Jupiter Ascending is like if the Matrix used Neo like a football and just carried him around from place to place while other people talked about stuff for three hours.
There are videos going into it, but I believe it was because they doubled their cost by accidentally sinking their first set & had to remake it entirely. There was almost no way for them to make that much money back.
I watched Jupiter Ascending in theaters and remember two things about it: 1. I COULD NOT follow along for the life of me. I was so lost and bored. 2. The action scenes were incredible. Love a silver lining :)
The issue of not following or understanding about them is how the Wachowskis can't help but try so HARD to make their dialogue "deep" that it ends up becoming and pretentious, confusing mess where characters use complex words so blatantly and with no restraint that it becomes impossible for a normal person to understand what they are talking about. This was also a problem in The Matrix but for what it's worth it had an interesting world and concept, great action scenes and a main character, while not spectacular, did do cool and important things while having agency to his character that Jupiter Jones just does, not, HAVE!

Lmao
The problem is people thinking of Jupiter as the protagonist. In this particular story, she is the McGuffin. The protagonist (Kain) has to protect her from the antagonists (the space royals)
The problem comes from the writers choosing to use her as the point of view character, which is somewhat necessary as Jupiter represents the audience; she is clueless about this world she has stumbled into and Kain's explanations to Jupiter are exposition for the audience so Jupiter and the audience learn about the world at the same time.
I would imagine they would have given her character a lot more agency had they been able to make sequels.
@@FURognar Right, exactly. As writers, it's hard for the audience PoV character to have free will, because you have to second guess the Audience. All YA books aren't Twilight clones
Jupiter ascending even sounds like more of a book title then a movie title
There are a lot of Hunger Game clones like Divergent but don't you dare call Hunger Games a clone of Twilight just because they're both YA novels with female protagonists.
I call them Twilight clones because as far as I’m concerned, they were chasing the coat tails of Twilights Success. However I also think Hunger Game clone is appropriate as well.

It's why I dislike romance in action movies yet always a weak side plot look the classic era of action to now they cannot escape the trap.

@GroB Hahn its most likely to blame the producers, wanting to milk the alter-reality cow
Ha!
People loved it, so you're going to make me more money."
And if you know anything about Joel Silver, well...
Yeah, that was the girlfriend
If I'm wrong, and it was always intended to be a trilogy, Joe is still a coke head cunt, and the Wachowskis still wrote Bound and Assassins. Bound is fantastic, and Assassins is dumb fun
@@eddiedingle767 This is why Joel Silver is not involved at all with the new one. His absence must have provided a creative freedom of 100% to the Watchowskis. That must be a good sign regarding the fate of the film.

Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy did this all so much better.
Its like they tried to rip of Dragon Ball Z and couldn't even do that well.

They could have totally pulled a good “Total Recall” moment with her... but they dropped the ball
That's actually not bad at all.

The prominent problem is that the movie treats everyone else as the main character instead of Mila Kunis. So, the movie feels really unfocused. I think people have a tendency to think that Sci-Fi is easy, but it gets messed so often, because it is not easy at all.

For me it failed because:
3.1 The creators failed in ripping-off a movie they made on the first place.
While I can see the parallels, the movie is far from being a rip off.
I think the biggest thing dragging the movie down is how more than 50% is impossible to understand CGI action, while the plot doesn't make an ounce of sense. The bits that connect this also don't make much sense.

After seeing their subsequent failures at every level, I changed my opinion.
I've never heard this, explain?

I know at least part of that is false. Cameron has said over the decades that Terminator was inspired by a nightmare he had. The script is even credited to Cameron and Gale Hurd.
@@Clockwork0nions Yeah he supposedly borrowed very little of the story, whereas The Matrix took the lion's share.

but she not even Mary Sue, we never seen her powers, being overpowered, anything, she just some dish towel that is given stuff, she's more boring then Mary Sue

Yo I'm glad you got a sponsor bro! I love your style of videos and the way you edit them. I hope you make it big one day. Your videos are really helpful because I dream of being someone that writes stories that don't suck ass.
Always fun to watch! And it's true what you point out - the same storytellers tell a similar story but in a drastically different way which hurts the story significantly! Thanks for what you do and your unique brand of humor that fits me so well!
15:23 She is a plot coupon, which in and of it's self is actually an interesting idea. But they made a charter into a plot coupon, but forgot that they were still a character first.
Jupiter Ascending is this generation's Battlefield Earth as i call it
I think that Battlefield Earth was way worse, under every aspect.
@@waltercomunello121 i think that too
I just love how you manage to make movies mock themselves through your genius editing
"Could Tom Cruise outrun it?" Yes. the answer to that question is always yes.
Congratulations on the sponsorship, dude!
Yeah, and then Trinity was actually Channing Tatum's character and Morpheus was Sean Bean's character.
Jupiter MacGuffin: "An object the characters care about, but the audience doesn't."
I watched this three times, trying so hard to enjoy it, to see if I could find something underlying that made it a fantastic movie...but there isn't.
8:10: I had to replay it again because that sounded very much a legit good film (something rare nowadays). Awesome, Filmento!
I need Anatomy of a Failure: Waterworld. I can't understand why it flopped so hard
There are videos going into it, but I believe it was because they doubled their cost by accidentally sinking their first set & had to remake it entirely. There was almost no way for them to make that much money back.
insanely high cost for an arguably average movie. There.
Fan : solid film forensic, every director should learn from this man

Should I go away now?!?
The movie where the main character just likes cleaning toilets

No, it's more like she has a choice now so she doesn't hate her life anymore.

Let's be honest. We *do* know that Tom Cruise *can* outrun it.
It kills me that they're still running off of the fumes of the Matrix. They haven't made a good movie since V for Vendetta.
I really like Cloud Atlas and Sense8 (both are on Netflix).
Go check who did V for Vendetta dude...
You might find something interesting.
V for Vendetta also wasn't good
Don't know what's the complaint, Cloud Atlas is great, a very rare example of a movie that's actually better than the source book
@ no idea
One of the opening sequences that really sticks with in terms of worldbuilding me is Inception.
This movie had a lot of potential. I didn't love the final package but I really like bits and pieces.
Yep.
"So, for the bad guy. I want him to look a little like Ozymandias from Watchmen. But can you make him look like a petulant child?"
I am going to write a script completely around the lines.
"Could Tom Cruise out run it?"
"Possibly. But only Tom Cruise."

It's kinda a predecessor to uncut gems
Finally! I saw this movie with my parents and it made such a bad impression on me and I've been waiting for this video for a long time!
This is the kind of movie you get when your protagonist's plot armor is so thick that you have literally nothing for them to do.
If you are making a character who is well liked by many other characters, always remember to ask yourself, “why would someone want to simp for them?”. If you go with, “Oh because she’s the queen” and nothing else, like this movie, rewrite the character.
I'm not sure why, but every time you say "Jupiter Ascending" I just hear "Stupider Ascending."
Fairly accurate.... XD
Stupider Ascending seems a good title for Tumblr fanfic made into a movie tho.
