For real. Of all of the videogames that might be worthwhile as movies, Naughty's are at the bottom of that list. Just play the game. Although...maybe Last of Us could hit a new audience among people who don't want to have to play a videogame to get the story. They could make a good drama out of those games as long as they keep all the videogame shit out of it (we don't need long stealth combat scenes or a whole episode of Ellie and Dina looking for gasoline).
@@pickledparsleyparty They should or they can if they somehow make it more interesting that what they did with the games, just like Filmento said, you can do it differently so the audience who played the games will know that they took the scene out of the game but played it differently in live-action form.
That's exactly why I was already skeptical of this movie, these games are literally movies with extremely cinematic set-pieces and compelling characters, I already knew they were barely going to do something different and interesting by turning it into a movie The casting just made my expectations, that were already low, to hit rock bottom
I've never played Uncharted, and even I understand how bad the casting was. I know this isn't why the movie is bad, but it proves how confused Sony has been recently.
Just like with Resident Evil, the casting choices heavily affect the look and feel of the movie, especially for non-fans who might know a little bit about the characters. The casting choices for Drake and Sully were such a mismatch.
It's weird because I felt like the first RE was kind of a seperate entity. I liked it for what it was, and RE has never been consistent in look and tone anyway. The rest of the movies though, it got old instantly.
Video game movies will never be taken seriously as long as they don't follow the comic book movie formula. Iron Man and Captain America aren't just great comic book movies, they are great movies period. The casting, the plot, the characters, the dialogue are all great. Those early Marvel movies weren't just relying on the brand, they put effort on all the elements that make up a film.
Only time I knew what Nathan Drake looked like in the games was in the crossover PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. Then years later when I saw Tom Holland playing him, it was an immediate red flag for me.
I watched this film with my close friend the other day to give it a chance. The main issues I feel are that Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg don’t feel like the characters that they are portraying. Tom still feels like Peter Parker and Mark doesn’t have the charm of Sully. Plus they changed the Nate’s backstory to the point where it could’ve just have been another character.
To be honest, the second I saw that they changed the way Sully and Nate met eachother I stopped caring about it all together, I mean cmon you set up such a beautiful backstory and then just spit on it.
I felt it also absolutely missed one of the core elements of the Uncharted games: the supernatural elements and the treasure not being what it appears to be. Like how El Dorado in the first game turned out to be a sarcophagus containing a virus that turns people into feral zombies.
The supernatural elements of the games to me are more in the background because they usually appear at in the middle after the halfway point. But those elements are still good. There was also the Guardians in the second game that emerged after consuming the resin and there’s also the Djinn in the 3rd game (although they only appear when Nate hallucinates after drinking the poisoned water)
@@NelsonStJames I'm sorry, what? The first rebooted Tomb Raider game did not use a virus as its plot resolution. Like all other TR games, it relies on supernatural elements as its plot resolution. In the game, Himiko turned into a malevolent spirit that perpetually keeps the island wrapped in violent storms and her army of mummified soldiers are stuck doing her bidding because they swore an undying oath to her. There is no virus in the game. Only in the movie. Why they changed that and recycled a plot element from an Uncharted game, I do not know, but please don't pin that on the game, because that is simply not true, lol. The game as a very different plot resolution.
I'm kinda glad Filmento said he liked the film but acknowledged how flawed the film was. It was kinda frustrating discussing this film online cause people wouldn't acknowledge the flaws and reduced the film to a "fun video game movie" (as Filmento put it) as to excuse the faults. If the film did what Bend Studo (the makers of Days Gone) did with Uncharted: Golden Abyss - i.e. do an Uncharted adventure that wasn't so derivative, then I wouldn't have been as harsh on it. Side note, they nailed Chloe's casting but the route they've chosen to go with Chloe as a character feels weird to me. I'm all for creative license but I didn't find myself liking Chloe that much.
I'm glad he acknowledged that because the internet is full of evil trolls who hate on the movie only because Tom Holland isn't Nathan Fillion. They don't acknowledge the positives of the film.
@@Destroyer2150 In fact now that the technology has allowed for people that previously couldn't afford the toys Hollywood has had, to be able to have similar if not sometimes better toys, we're seeing that there is actually a lot more talent and creativity outside of Hollywood than in it.
"Uncharted but different enough to be new" - This is exactly what video game movies should be, they must be a blend of familiar and different at the same time. That ain't easy. Honestly, watching this video makes me have more respect for the two sonic movies for managing to combine new and old to be good.
I think a big part is the fact that Uncharted is already very cinematic. So making a movie version makes it easy to fall into the trap of just recreating stuff from the games. As for Sonic, a lot of it is not cinematic at all, at least initially. So it forces the directors to make something new. That's why I believe that the later Sonic movies might fall into this same problem. Because there will be a lot of cinematic content that makes it easy to just recreate. Hopefully the directors become aware of this and avoid this problem.
Execs when making video game adaptations usually thinks that we want to see in the movies exactly what we play in the games, and that's not true. We want the essence, we want the game's story expanded, not copies of scenes from the games with a weak story.
This is why I love the Sonic movies. Not only are there sight gags and references for older fans that grew up with the series, but it also makes it open and accessible to new fans and non-fans alike.
My Mother watched this movie with her friends and then I asked "So? How was uncharted?" And she was "uh? uncharted?" "the movie you just watch? With that actor I kinda always forget his name but I'm pretty sure was the Last spiderman?" "Oh! Yes, it was good, but Indiana Jones was much better." I kinda would love to watch this video as *How to fail at Indiana Jones"
Can’t entirely agree here as yeah the movie has big issues but it was enjoyable to a degree! it's a bit better than people are saying right now as Tom Holland as Nathan Drake did a pretty good job in of itself, was he exactly as charming in the exact same manner like drake? No, but he brought his own charisma to the role and based on what he was given, he did a pretty great job in the role as a whole and just like the whole cast, the entire cast of the movie was great and Holland HAS proven himself to be a great actor, And I can't wait for more of this uncharted live action as they can improve upon alot of things.
As a massive uncharted fan I knew it was going to be terrible going into it on casting alone. My god was I not prepared for how terrible it actually was, it is an uncharted movie in name alone.
Most people would call you entitled fan, you are not! I was curious, but listening everything people are saying about this. Im going to pass. Instead buy the trilogy box and rock that one.
Forget the young part. He just doesn't look like Drake at all. Lacks the charm and likeability. If Holland was never in Marvel, he never would have gotten this role on his own merit.
@@CherryPauper I can’t entirely agree, yeah without marvel’s help he most likely haven’t have gotten the role at all but he does have the charm and likability very well in this movie to a degree that makes him endearing just like the rest of the cast. @@ahmadhakim535 no it’s not “exactly” at all here, as I said, yeah without marvel’s help he most likely haven’t have gotten the role at all but he does have the charm and likability very well in this movie to a degree that makes him endearing just like the rest of the cast. Is he exactly like Nate from the games? No but he’s got his on way of doing things that works!
This is all goes to why Sonic movie is so good, because it's not just for known players who know sonic so well but also for non players who know nothing of the game besides that sonic is fast.
to be fair, this statement works better for the detective pikachu movie, since someone who never played the games are still introduced in a casual way to the world of pokémon. no need to know all the small details about the lore and just enjoy the buddy cop movie it is.
@@delphinebriand1554 Being fair... Both work well, went into the sonic movie expecting the worst and in the end I loved it, even got excited seeing tails at the end, and in the new one seeing Spoilers Shadow, I just got SUPER exited. It's a gift to who knows the games, but others can also see it and think "Ohhh that's gonna be the new bad guy next film, he looks cool"
The sonic movie's are good cause they follow the original structure set before it in all forms of media while doing Thier own interpretation of the same plot points and same story structure as things that came before that fans loved. Uncharted just feels like someone stole things from the franchise not even just one game the whole franchise and put them together like a puzzle. Then says it's done and throws it in the trash and moves on to the next movie.
Watching this made me realize Sonic was once again the franchise to break the mold as a series. The 2nd movie was truly a great video game movie that was faithful to the source material but also putting a spin on it
The ideal Uncharted movie is National Treasure with a lot more parkour and the main character being willing to murder literally over one hundred people without so much as a second thought. Also, just personally, I think this would've been the one movie they could've taken the Tin Tin route or the Lupin route with, all the best moments of the movie were 3D animated as it is and at that point you can just do so much more if it was fully 3d or pseudo live action.
I have always felt like Uncharted is as Indiana Jones and National Treasure had a baby (Clue to clue to clue to treasure with a supernatural twist at the end). At least the first three games were.
@@QtheLaserDude well the forth game is easily the best one, with Uncharted 2 coming in second and I played and loved uncharted 2 at first. Their all amazing games but uncharted 4 is easily the best one!
My least favorite part is there weren’t any gun fights, like ONE time he fights a mercenary with a gun but even then it’s a mix of shooting and hand to hand combat. Half of uncharteds gameplay is shooting, so they should’ve had more gun fights which are more like uncharted than all the melee fighting which only occasionally happened in uncharted, the only time I even remember is the bar fight in the third one
The problem with that is Nate in the games is a mass murderer, shooting every single mercenary he comes across, i you want to make a pg movie for kids (and adults) your main character can't go around killing every enemy he sees. I think the sequels are going to lean more into gunfigths anyway, with how the postcredit scene goes.
@@nelocentricgames the sequels WILL improve on everything and make it even better than his movie, I know that’s going to happen as this movie wasn’t even as “problematic” as others are saying it is as it’s a fun movie as a whole despite its flaws, I’m excited for the sequel too as a whole!

It does make sense in a way. You can't put all the character development from 40 hours of gameplay into a 2 hour movie. That's why it felt like a montage, because that's what it was. Just a highlights reel with 'cool moments' from the games without any buildup. The games are mostly about Nathan and Sully going through the jungle looking for clues. There wasn't even a single scene like that? They should've either copied the games and made 4 seperate movies. Or make it completely different but take their time to build the relationships. Just focus on Sully and Nathan for the first part. Make it more about actually searching for a treasure and they could build on that in a sequel.
@@CinematicSeriesGaming Yup, that’s what they’re doing with The Last of Us. Hopefully that does well, so they scrap any future Uncharted films and make it into a series instead.
They made an original movie with elements from the game while also expanding upon said elements to make it a good coherent story. The Movie has good action, good mystery and investigating and great cinematography. Idk what else you want. The development will come later on when Tom searches for his brother
Sony hired Tom because they already got a relationship with him and also because he's one of the "hottest" on the way of public image on the cinema scene. So people are hurting for Holland so they just want him everywhere
You should make a video on Arcane. How to succeed at video game adaptation. That thing is a straight up masterpiece for audience and a Masterclass for writers.
None of the three characters, Nate, Sully or Chloe felt like the game versions, to me, and when the characters feel wrong, everything goes south for me! And I don't know why, but the Post credit scene got me more excited then the movie!
I love the fact you made a video on Uncharted, you hit the nail on the head, and mentioned everything that I felt about it, more eloquently and articulately than I could.
I feel like having Nate already know Sully can be pulled off, look at Bilbo and Gandalf, you don't even need to know The Hobbit beforehand to immediately get the sense that the two have been friends for a long time - and doing introduction in such a way really gives good dialogues and the actors' charisma a chance to shine.
He never said the problem was the characters already knowing each other. He said the problem was how the characters were introduced to the audience. Bilbo and Gandalf had GREAT introductions. Gandalf was immediately characterized as "distuber of the peace" and the kids love him and everyone knew of his wizarding prowess. Bilbo was introduced as a retiring adventurer looking to make a grand exit.
The Video Game Movie Curse is a devastating thing that's destroyed every ounce of potential it's touched. Except with Sonic. He's just kinda... exempt from the rules.
Aside from Uncharted issues particularly, I think its too early in Tom's career to make him this type of leading man. In the next 10 years when he looks more like a grown man, I'm absolutely for it. For now I think he's more well suited playing late teens and early 20s stories. The type of roles like Nathan Drake feel more believable with someone who looks like you could trust them to have the life experience necessary to get out of any given situation. Not sure if im making sense but Tom just feels like a kid no matter what role you put him in.
Having ambition is all it takes to make a videogame adaptation work And even though they hired some more experienced people to helm the project, they didn't have much ambition Especially Ruben Fleischer, who has been acting more as a director for hire recently
Ambition is not enough either. We have FF: The Spirits Between as example. They need to start building a movie as a god damn movie. The Sonic movie is probably the best and most recent example of this, as it is not the best movie ever, but it works as a movie, having or not previous knowledge: It starts, it stablishes the characters, it stablishes the rules, it stablishes the motivations, it stablishes conflicts and it has a resolution.
@@MazTheOriginalGod I think the thing with Final Fantasy is that Hironobu Sakaguchi works with videogames, not movies Sonic The Hedgehog was made VFX artists with experience in filmmaking (Jeff Fowler and Tim Miller) Plus, Sonic did have some ambition, at least to make it work, like pushing back the release date so they could redesign the title character
I don't think it's ambition, so much as simply not thinking of video game adaptations as serious filmmaking. Sort of the way Hollywood didn't really put much thought into comicbook adaptations until they started turning huge profits; then for a second they actually put some thought into them.
A movie can and will never replicate the experience of first hand gameplay. Having the power to choose how a character fights, to make decisions for the character, and how we want to deal with challenges in a game, is far better than watching someone else do it for us.
IMO movies do a better job creating emotion than most of the games, without choice. Its because you can relate to characters in a story even if youre not controlling them. For example: which Aragorn or Harry Potter or Spider Man is more memorable to you? The movie ones or the game ones? Probably the movies, because they carry so much more emotion than the game conuterparts, even you not controlling them.
@@GlennRRB I was specifically talking about video games being adapted into movies. Not the other way around. If a piece of fiction is created in one medium and then another medium tries to adapt it, than of course it won’t have the same affect on it’s viewers/readers/watchers because it isn’t the natural way that it was originally made for.
@@TCT24 Im not trying to argue, but if you get the three examples I gave, all of them were created to books/comic and I bet most of ppl remember them for their movies/cartoon form. I dont think that adaptation is the problem. The point I was trying to make really is that games have a long way to go to convey emotion as movies does. Most of developers IMHO dont give the needed attention to storytelling and thats why games generally feels bland storywise. Its hard to see a Metal Gear 3 or The Last of Us or Disco Elysium story in games. IMO controlling a character is not enough to make us feel something for that character or NPCs.
when going from one medium to another, its important to keep the heart of the original creation. pokemon-game and pokemon-anime are very different but also compliment each other. castlevania game and anime are also different but was a very good adaptation. as a game uncharted pushed the mechanics and visual capabilities of consoles but it had a strong story and characters around it. the movie couldve been fine as a not too faithful adaptation (i still like keanus constantine for example) but they tried to translate amazing video game moments into cinema without the heart of the experience. tom didnt struggle throughout the movie, he didnt grow much and the tension was non existent.. i like wahlbergs sully but i dont play uncharted so accurate or not i hope if theres a sequel, he comes back. maybe replace tom with someone older or bring him back with a better script as well
Being someone who loves every nook and crany about the games you can expect my dissapointment or rather lack there of when i saw this movie, my main problem is Sully, yeah i get he's not immediatly trusting of Nate and viceversa, but their relationship is one of absolute trust in the games, and here the only trust we get between them is at the very end and it doesn't feel deserved, Sully and Nate trust each other shortly after meeting in the games, and it's believable cause Sully saves Nate in a situation where he gains nothing out of it cause he sees a kid in danger, so Nate trusts him immediatly and you can fill in the gaps as to how their friendship came to be.
I can somewhat see Tom Holland as Drake, but Wahlberg as Sully is just horrendous casting. His casting pretty much killed the slight interest I had in seeing this movie.
Mark Wahlberg looks like he could be a young Sully, but no mustache and no gravelly voice is what makes it feel bad. If he had both I think he would've been really good. Tom Holland works well enough I guess. Both castings look worse on paper than what they could be at full potential I suppose
@@macbarrett4088 True, he does look like a young Sully. It's just his mannerisms and overall way about him that is such a bad fit. If you've seen him act in one movie, you've pretty much seen him act in all this movies.
I took me 5 minutes to think about better character introduce than in the movie: Nate steals bracelet form this girl, like in the movie (so we know he's a thief). Sully goes to the auction to steal this cross alone (we see him being a pro-thief with a plan). Nate is already there as a bartender and he sees Sully acting suspicious (he can recognize a thief, being one himself). They stumble across each other and Nate wants to stop Sully from stealing (maybe it's a charity auction), so we can see they differ - Nate has moral compass. Sully's plan is ruined, police think Nate stole the cross, they have to escape and eventually start to work together (as they find out they both know Sam). - BTW, am I the only one who think this scene 7:28 looks so bad and cheap? It's like director said: Here, have this empty paper cup and both of you go from the corner.
I have a strong suspicion that the girl with the bracelet is going to pop up in the next film, if there is one, and it'll be revealed that she's Elena.
I remember when a lot of people claimed that the bad video game movie curse was finally solved with the sonic movie... oh sweet summerchild, the same they said about silent hill. One hit doesn't make a change.
you're not wrong Just because one or two videogame movies are good doesn't mean the whole videogame curse has been broken. i mean its broken for sonic & pikachu but there could still be bad upcoming videogame movies like megaman and hopefully not mario.
Sonic was like Spider-Man (2002) to superhero genre, there still bad superhero movies after Spiderman, but someone realized they mistake and making better superhero movies, this probably applied to video games movies
13:32 I think you got this part wrong. Nate is only pretending to work with her since right after that clip he reveals that he gave her wrong coordinates on purpose to mislead her. So he kinda didn't forger about that betrayal.
but its only after he finds the coordinates, sure you could make the argument that he was gonna betray her regardless but it doesn't feel that way in the movie, maybe if there was slightly more tension between the 2
It's been a bit since you had a thumbnail that involved a disembodied, impaled head. That's good! Batman had tallymarks carved in his head in the last one but still, that's improvement. For real, I'm subscribed to you but this is the first video I've actually watched in awhile. Mainly because it didn't have some disturbing thumbnail to turn me off
Probably not but Holland did a pretty good job in the movie overall based on what he was given. But yeah it’s clear that he was given the role due to his marvel popularity mainly. That’s not an issue in of itself but it still works in some cases, here is obviously not the best course of action!
I'll say this, it had some of the best cinematography, fight scenes, and tom holland embraced his spiderman at the end making it the greatest story ever as he made efforts to pretend he wasn't, then let out his true form on that ship. However they killed the bad guy who had actual motivation, and let the dragon take control but the dragon didn't have much character at all and was actually much more boring. Most importantly childish, she could've realized that taking any effort to chase the other flying ship would've been a true loss as it was in terrible condition. But she was also stupidly lucky to even see tom getting inside the cave. Fs for the badguys all around. Good fights though tom been steppin' however I don't play uncharted at all so that's just the opinion of someone who watched the movie for dumb fun not for any nostalgia reasons.
The bad guys were so dumb. The first bad guy's motivation is to retrieve the gold to restore his family honour by becoming rich. Which might make sense, if his family wasn't already super rich and revered for all of the charity work they were doing. His father only cuts him out of the inheritance because of his obsession with the gold, so him killing his father is extra stupid. Then the second bad guy betrays the first out of greed, wanting to secure all the gold for herself. So the first thing she does when she is seconds away from securing the gold is to blow it all up. Literally loses all sense of rationality because she is so greedy that she can't wait two minutes to deposit a $3+ billion ship to chase after the other, or was it supposed to be out of rage for being bested by Sully for a split second?
@@epsleon yep yep yep, but I didn't care atm, a stupid double cross was all it took to take me out of my old cartoony villain fun. Also the second thing I in fact tried to say here in my comment so that's definitely in agreement.
Yeah in a medium centered around characters it always bothers me how movies based on games never do the characters justice, like it's either worse then their game counterparts or the movie fails to even understand the characters they're adapting. Like come on man, just because you're using an established IP doesn't mean you don't have to try. Well I'd argue they'd need to try more if they care about their creative integrity, though I doubt the people making these calls have that if they casted based on name recognition.
The most uncharted scene in this movie was when nathan tried to use the light fixtures to swing and fell down but kept going That is something that 100% would happen in the games Also sully is horribly miscast Tom isnt that bad just thw writing and scenes for him
Miscasting characters and changing the story to make it accessible for the none gaming public would most definitely ruin the movie for the hardcore fans.
which is crazy because of how unenjoyable it is for people who dont play the game. if you cant make a good movie about a video game, and need to make a videogame movies, at least stick to either the group that doesnt really know about the movie/game, the the hardcore funs.
@@juliuspreloznik7236 But hardcore fans' declarations about it decides if the adaptations will be successful among casual viewers. It was always like that.
@@juliuspreloznik7236 And neither will regular viewers who know nothing about the product. Adaptations bank on the fans bc that is the only gauranteed audience they have. To everyone else its completly new and therefore not something that will gauge wide intrest among casual viewers. There simplifying a games story to make it diguestable for a movie viewing experience, then theres simply forgoing the "Adaptation" and changing every aspect of what made the original popular. Look at the Halo show. Fans thinks its a steaming pile of dog shit and casual viewers simply dont care for it bc to them its a generic Science fiction show. This isnt marvel where you can get away with not adapting a comic too well bc theres a whole fanbase dedicated to watching anything you put out reguardless of quality.
Fun fact, I never played an Uncharted game, even one but I could still pick up on some of the video game references and get why they'd be important. Maybe it's conditioning from cinemas these days or maybe Sony made them obvious enough for most people who would suspend their disbelief a bit and give the movie a chance, a small reward for doing so
While I liked this movie, the biggest problem I had was that there were way too many betrayals. 1. Chloe's 3rd betrayal made her too unlikeable and caused her to be left out of the climax. She should have gone through a character arc where she learns to be more trusting. 2. Sully lying to Nate about Sam made Sully too unlikable(and Chloe since she knew too) and messed up Nates motivation for going after the treasure while also taking away the emotion from Sully sacrificing the treasure. Just have Sully tell Nate about Sam's death when they first meet and focus on building their bond, while they decide to go after the treasure both for money and to honor Sam's memory. Also don't have Sully already know Chloe and Braddock, since that's a lazy excuse to avoid fleshing out characters. 3. Moncada didn't have enough screentime with Nate/Sully/Chloe and Braddock wasn't developed enough to be worthy of taking over as the main villain. Braddock should have betrayed Moncada during the climax. Still a good movie overall, due to fun characters, great action and being well paced. Hopefully a sequel can focus on building character relationships and rivalries, instead of constantly trying to subvert expectations by having characters backstab each other.
I mean it’s the beginning. None of them knew each other. If you remember uncharted 2 the game when you see Chloe for the first time there was already a history with them 2 and Nate didn’t really trust her too much. Kinda stuck the the story
I think the most frustrating part of videos like this is that it doesn't seem particularly hard to fix all of these issues. Well I've got some minutes to burn so let's look at the introductions of the four primary characters for instance; Nate, Sully, Chloe, and The Antagonist. Right now they're all disjointed, all of their meetings are separated. I can almost imagine the script as like "Level 1: When Nate Met Sully" "Level 2: Enter Chloe" "Level 3: Enter Antagonist". Nate and Sully meet, then they meet Chloe in a different setting and scene, and then it seems like the Antagonist is introduced in the Auction like in 4 I wouldn't actually know because there's no way I'm watching this garbage movie. But there's no reason you can't combine all of these together into a single sequence. So what I would do is; Keep the scene of Nate stealing the bracelet from the woman at the bar, except with a few very important differences. First; she isn't there alone, she's actually there On a Date with Sully. Second; it isn't just a bracelet Nate steals, its actually the first of the ~2-3 Macguffins needed to get the treasure, which Sully was in the process of effectively trying to talk her out of by explaining its importance and how he can get the treasure for her. This was, for Sully, both a Date and a Job Interview that Nate has now ruined by being a brat with sticky fingers. When she discovers that the Macguffin is gone she immediately suspects Sully, who is visibly confused since he obviously knows he didn't take it, so he empties his pockets (which can give us a bunch of opportunities for jokes) while a bunch of Guards enter and begin watching over everyone and the other people at the bar get super hush-hush, because it turns out she isn't just some pretty socialite, but is actually basically a Mafia Princess and will be our Primary Antagonist for the movie. When Sully doesn't have anything she's about to order a full strip search when he remembers and says 'The Kid', she realizes it was the kid who fell on her bag that took it, and now the chase starts, presumably as one of them just barely sees Nate duck out a back entrance. Her Guards head out to find Nate, Sully follows, and you can get a nice foot-chase through some dark streets and parks, ultimately ending with Sully catching Nate, probably on a Pier of some sort. Sully then tries to reason with Nate to get the Macguffin back, tells Nate he doesn't know what he's taken or realize what he's done and how far in the deep end he dove, only for Nate to rattle off a bunch of exposition about the Macguffin and the Treasure it can supposedly lead to. This leave's Sully a bit surprised that this brat knows a bit, and hides exposition as a character development moment showing Nate has this burning desire to show how competent and knowledgable he is, to the point that he'll get himself deeper into trouble just so people will think he's talented and smart. Unfortunately before they can come to any agreement, Antagonist and her Guards catch up to them, and now it totally does look like Sully was working with the kid so she's ready to kill both of them. Sully tries to talk her out of it but messes up when he mentions her Father, the actual Mafia Don Crime Lord Guy, and she kinda snaps, grabs a gun from one of the Guards (or has them hand it to her I prefer that visual), says something like "Victor Victor Victor, you really need to learn that its not my father you need to worry about, it's Me!" and then shoots Nate. Or at least she tries to, Sully in a moment of uncharacteristic selflessness jumps in front of Nate, taking the bullet, and they both fall into the river in the dark. Antagonist sends her guys to try to find them and cover exits, Nate pulls Sully to a hiding place and starts to freak out, only for Sully to reveal he had a vest on because he expected this all to go wrong; "I fknew with my luck this would all go as wrong as that time I took a Nun to a Brothel." "You took a Nun to a Brothel?" Classic Sully. Nate and Sully swim to somewhere they can get up from the water, only to be cornered by a pair of Antagonist's Guards, when at the last minute an SUV slams into the guards, the doors open, and Sully grabs Nate and jumps into the SUV. And then who is driving SUV? Oh My God Chloe is Driving SUV how can this be?! And they speed off into the night. This establishes all four of our characters and gives some hidden depths to our four principle characters; Nate is the Puckish Rogue with a surprising amount of Book Smarts desperate to prove himself, Sully is the Playboy used to talking his way into and then out of trouble, Chloe is "The Best Driver in the Business" and isn't shy from violence, and the Antagonist is a ruthless Mafia Princess with a chip on her shoulder because she's stuck in her father's shadow and wants to use this as her big break to put herself on the map. For added fun and foreshadowing, notice that Nate and Antagonist's Hidden Depths and actual motivations are partially revealed in the opening sequence, but Sully and Chloe's are Not, hinting that they've got more secrets to be uncovered. It also gives Sully a legitimate moment of heroism to save Nate, which can go a long way to explain Nate still forgiving Sully in the end for his betrayal. It also establishes the pace of the movie of Success->Crisis->Success->Crisis. So yeah that's what I would do. I really don't understand how Hollywood's writers can't write better things than they do, because it all seems so easy. Now a reasonable and understanding person might point out I'm just a nerd typing something up on the internet and there's no money being spent on actors and sets, or that I'm working with the benefit of hindsight and mixing ideas that they had to come up with in the first place, or that making movies is a complicated process, or that the studio's might have expectations that I can freely ignore, but honestly? Fuck that Reasonably and Understanding Guy. Writers in Hollywood are just Stupid.
Way to go Spielberg 👏 - now, that's an uncharted movie I'd watch, more than once. Really well laid out. Too bad the team behind the Holland movie aren't that smart or passionate enough to come up with anything as intricate.
Honestly, all Filmento did was bring up that his dog died. I didn’t get a sense of their history, what happened to the dog, or even its name. It was just a brief exposition played over sad music that was supposed to *force* me to feel a certain way without explaining *why*. It’s hack writers like these that need to learn to show, not tell. You can’t just expect a viewer to be sad because you say, “my dog died” without some kind of establishing scenes, like: was this a childhood dog? A nice dog? Did Filmento even *like* this dog? What breed was it? Was it a rescue or stray dog? Details like this really go a long way in milking your audience’s sympathy, and in making that emotional impact when you finally reveal the dog was alive, after all. I expected more from you, Filmento.
What you said about the forced Easter Eggs is absolutely true. Watched this movie at home with my family (been a superfan since 2017) and when Nolan North showed up, everyone else was scratching their heads while I was yelling. I know this movie is bad in a lot of ways, but I still like certain parts of it
The only scene that I truly enjoy of this movie was the underground bar fight. The rest was as you said “a flat line” where I was just thinking how better the videogame do it

Perfectly explained why I thought this movie was "alright". Familiar scenes, familiar music, an awesome cameo but still not the Uncharted movie we fans of the game wanted to see
I really think that if you want to adapt something like uncharted into something, a series might be a much better option. Like with the Witcher (Not saying it's the best thing ever, far from it) but it allows to build up the characters with a lot more time and more meaningful ways, rather than take four, eight hour games and condense it into two or three hours.
The majority isn't always right. Filmento even acknowledged he liked the film, but it is incredibly flawed to the point it feels like it is more worth it to play the games as the games did this a whole lot better.
@@yashjoseph3544 Its strange people can't really get that something can be bad, but still enjoyable, which I feel like is the point Filmento makes in a sense.
Too bad this movie did not live up any good expectations. But since you've discussed about Uncharted being apart of the video game movie curse once again. Do you think you can make a Film Perfection Review on Sonic The Hedgehog 2?😁
Sonic 2 was barely perfection, I’d give it 6 out 10 at the most. A huge chunk of the movie was spent on a pointless rom-com in Hawaii. It was filler which had no impact on the overall arc, my 4yr old son had no idea what was going on at this point but enjoyed the rest of the movie. It also stretched the run time by at least half an hour. I think Four Seasons offered to fund a lot of the movie if their hotel had a significant presence in the story.
@@chrisxx5583 There's no Film Mid in Filmento, it's either Perfection or Failure. Even if the film was successful, it can still be a failure in Filmento's eyes and vice versa.
@@chrisxx5583 Most of Filmento's videos aren't movie review but just discuss certain aspects that it does either very well or very poorly. Sonic 2 is absolutely worth talking about in that regard.
@@chrisxx5583 I have it a 7.5/10 but I respect your opinion I’m a huge sonic fan and literally I hated the wedding scene like it could’ve been replaced for something better like a longer sonic and knuckles snowboard fight for 3 and a half mins to then seeing eggman and tails fight for 2 and a half mins then seeing a longer temple fight scene of sonic and knuckles and then we could’ve seen tails express how useless he was and show his backstory then Tom and maddie give him inspiration then we can see tails get the tornado and apply tech to it also eggman and knuckles could’ve interacted more in the temple then we could’ve seen eggman ask knuckles about what happens in his life and then knuckles would explain the war between the owls and echidnas and what happens to him that day also they could’ve shown murals at the temple of super sonic fighting the death egg and perfect chaos vs super sonic foreshadowing those events like in the games after that we could’ve seen a five mins and a half sonic and knuckles fight scene where they release everything from their powers like sonics makes tornados and after images while knuckles uses shockwave attacks beams and the surroundings to his advantage like throwing rocks. But Yh those are pretty much what I wish was in the film I didn’t mind the dance scene cause I thought it was cute and goofy and I think we needed a scene like that in the film and they could’ve made the car chase scene better by making knuckles get shot by an energy blast and then tails would get sonics quill out and power the car to get away and Yh that’s pretty much my complaints and what could’ve made the movie better Yh sorry about the long speech I’m a sonic fan at the end of the day so yh.
It would be interesting to compare this to the sonic 2 movie that recently came out, because that one felt more like a worthy adaptation of the game its based on. I hadn't played a single game or even watched the first movie when I first saw it, and still had a blast. I think it would make for an interesting video!
It was a okay movie in my opinion. James Lafferty could be an excellent young Nate. Nathan Fillion should have been the one to play Nathan Drake for sure, that fantastic UA-cam fan film proved it. They should have listened to their Uncharted fans.
I think the biggest problem movies based on video games have is not understanding that they can't compete with the interactivity of video games and how video games have so much more time develop the story and charecters. If they can figure out how to get around this I think it'll be better
As someone who didn’t play uncharted or know anything about the franchise, I enjoyed it. I was not bored while watching it, and I liked the brothers both individually and in their relationship.
The issue with this movie was that, there was absolutely 0 danger. In every scene, you know that characters will not get harmed. Literally casual viewer doesnt feels any suspense from it. In the game, this absence of plot danger is justified since player still has to cover some very dangerous puzzles where you can actually die and loose the effort you put to get that point which brings this risk and suspense even tho in plot it’s guaranteed happy ending. Whole movie was like this super overly lightened adventure story that had absolutely no value for viewers who never played the game. Something those adaptations need to learn that casual people also need to understand whats going on and you can’t just slap easter eggs from game and expect that everyone will enjoy.
So Tom literally about to drown and being knocked unconscious cause he’s underwater isn’t a high enough stake for yiu? Or falling out if an airplane with no parachute and having to aim for a box hurling down to earth? Or climbing up a rope on an already sinking pirate ship having to jump and grab hold with one hand. Yeah we know they’re gonna survive like every movie ever but the weight of the fights and action was there
They cast this movie like they wanted it to fail, and then went and hired the most painfully mediocre writers and director they could find. It's blindingly obvious very few (if any) people involved with this movie played the games or understood what makes them special. It just felt like the soulless adventures of Mahk Whalbuhg and Spiderman, not Sully and Nate.
Can’t agree that they “cast this movie like they wanted it to fail” AT ALL as the cast were able to make do pretty well for themselves with what they were given! Obviously Holland and Wallberg doesn’t look like Nathan drake and sully but I can’t entirely agree with your statement here as yeah while without marvel’s help he most likely haven’t have gotten the role at all but he does have the charm and likability very well in this movie to a degree that makes him endearing just like the rest of the cast. Is he exactly like Nate from the games? No but he’s got his on way of doing things that works and that’s why most of the actors in this movie were overall Great and enduring as a whole! I wouldn’t say it’s ENTIRELY “soulless” at all as it is done very well overall as a whole!
Thank for your videos. I find your insight to be very informative. I am sorry about your dog. It always hurt when they leave us, but he/she was loved by you. That is a beautiful thing.
Ok so here’s the thing, when I went in to this movie, I had one question in mind “Does this feel like uncharted?” And for the first half HELL NAH Nate was greedy, sully was greedy, and sure they’re both thieves, but not as bad as they portrayed them, however, towards the end, with the club fight, the underwater scene, with sully having to help Nate on the outside before Nate drowns, and don’t forget the final battle….that….that felt like uncharted, they got all of that so right, it felt like the game….now some moments were horrible of course The main villain, both the Hispanic guy and the black lady, they sucked ass Sully’s immense sense of greed And that Chloe betrayal All that sucked, but at the end of the day….considering this is a VIDEO GAME MOVIE…..they did a damn good job, and I walked away happy, knowing the uncharted movie didn’t completely suck ass
Also the fact that Nate FINALLY gets his iconic gun harness during the final battle and he’s gonna shoot teh bad guys… …he misses and they shoot the gun out of his hand. Can’t have our golden boy Tom Holland be seen shooting somebody, can we?
@@LinkinMark1994 lol what? Tom Holland isn’t a “golden boy” that’s “pure” as he HAS taken away lives in movies in brutal ways. Just watch them and you’ll see the full range that Holland has gone and it’s all fantastic to see! If they didn’t have time to show a believable way that Nate and Sully first met each other, why couldn’t they just start the film with them already knowing each other like in the first game?
I was hoping the film would be a direct sequel to the games. Drake is older, his daughter is becoming just like him. Have it as a literal family adventure. Could have cast Nathan Fillion too.

I don't think Uncharted is awful for a video game movie, it's quite good and does everything just nicely. Great analysis either way, I can agree with most points.
i never thought a movie’s character interactions could be so bad that Filmento would use the star wars sequels as an example of what they should have done 💀
As an insanely huge Uncharted fan, I did love this movie. Wasn’t what I was hoping for, but it was still really good and a fun experience. Have rewatched it a ton since it came out, I feel like it’s very under appreciated.
I enjoyed it as well. Personally I feel the early versions of the movie that we heard of would’ve been worse and I think more insulting but that’s just me. I’d like to see Florence Pugh as Elena.
Ironic that a movie version of Uncharted should fall victim to the game curse, when the original games were so linear it felt like they should have instead been made as movies in the first place!
As an uncharted fan, I personally liked the movie, probably since I didn't see the movie as a adaptation of the games. I saw it more as it's own series which have been why I liked it.
Honestly I really enjoyed the film, I thought that it made its own great story/alternate universe of the uncharted universe. Especially with all the Easter eggs to the fans of the games
I watched Uncharted, I really liked it, never played the game. But I agree with a lot of the cons that were said. I think a lot of the problems were with the script. It's a shame that it seemed mediocre considering there's 4 games of Uncharted to use and draw inspiration from, not just from the action. It seems like the screenwriter of this script never immersed themselves in the Uncharted story itself. It never delved too deep. Makes me wonder who in the studio approved of the script, if they wanted to start a successful franchise that critics and fans would like. Since it seems that the Uncharted games were written very well, I wonder why Sony didn't hire the writers of the games since they know the source material intimately and they would of done it justice. Maybe the screenwriter was miscast.

Naughty Dog already make their games as cinematic as possible. There really isn't anything to add as a film adaptation of 'Uncharted'.
For real. Of all of the videogames that might be worthwhile as movies, Naughty's are at the bottom of that list. Just play the game.
Although...maybe Last of Us could hit a new audience among people who don't want to have to play a videogame to get the story. They could make a good drama out of those games as long as they keep all the videogame shit out of it (we don't need long stealth combat scenes or a whole episode of Ellie and Dina looking for gasoline).
they should make a cg animated uncharted movie. with a good director
@@pickledparsleyparty They should or they can if they somehow make it more interesting that what they did with the games, just like Filmento said, you can do it differently so the audience who played the games will know that they took the scene out of the game but played it differently in live-action form.
That's exactly why I was already skeptical of this movie, these games are literally movies with extremely cinematic set-pieces and compelling characters, I already knew they were barely going to do something different and interesting by turning it into a movie

I've never played Uncharted, and even I understand how bad the casting was. I know this isn't why the movie is bad, but it proves how confused Sony has been recently.

Sony is like a Blind Person refusing to use their Guide Cane, because they refuse to believe they're blind.
i knew sony was confused once i saw the amazing spiderman movies
Sony’s been confused ever since Spider-Man 3
Recently or in the past 15 years?
Yet the film was a hit because of them lol.
@@One.Zero.One101 leave it to MCU fanboys insert their capeshit into everything. Now tell us how MCU is cinematic masterpiece and how its real kino.

Seeing that clip of when Finn and Poe meet re-broke my heart for all the wasted potential of their characters
I just realized that the first rebooted Tomb Raider game, and the film based on it actually used the virus plot from the first Uncharted game.
@@NelsonStJames interesting
@@NelsonStJames I'm sorry, what? The first rebooted Tomb Raider game did not use a virus as its plot resolution. Like all other TR games, it relies on supernatural elements as its plot resolution.

@@mlgamings6110 Although in some ways The Last of Us disproved that as they still managing to change enough stuff to become something different.

So don't make a movie. Make 4-season show with 40 hours worth of character development.
@@CinematicSeriesGaming that wouldve been even better
@@CinematicSeriesGaming Yup, that’s what they’re doing with The Last of Us. Hopefully that does well, so they scrap any future Uncharted films and make it into a series instead.
@@beau__ the movie was good tho
They made an original movie with elements from the game while also expanding upon said elements to make it a good coherent story. The Movie has good action, good mystery and investigating and great cinematography. Idk what else you want. The development will come later on when Tom searches for his brother
Let's be honest here, the only reason Tom Holland got the role of Nathan Drake was because of his spiderman "popularity"....
That's not how quotation marks work mate.
No shit. He's contracted by Sony.
Holland could've worked if the perople behind the film gave a shit.
@@josephsalmonte4995 he's being ironic, if you can't tell then you're the one who don't know how it works.
Castlevania as well
Agreed, he definitely should make a video of that. There's so much to cover in its writing.
You should change your name to Factory of wrong opinions.
And he doesn't review shows. FILMento, anyone?
That is the thing though, it is a prequel and not trying to translate a story from the preexisting game
The thing is: the Uncharted games are already amazing playable movies, removing the game aspect makes the product inherently worse
None of the three characters, Nate, Sully or Chloe felt like the game versions, to me, and when the characters feel wrong, everything goes south for me! And I don't know why, but the Post credit scene got me more excited then the movie!
The dog twist was more of an emotional rollercoaster than this franchise ever will be.
I love that not only does filmento says when he does or doesn’t like something, he explains when and how something he doesn’t like could be better
I read this as "a chance to shire"
Having ambition is all it takes to make a videogame adaptation work
And even though they hired some more experienced people to helm the project, they didn't have much ambition
Especially Ruben Fleischer, who has been acting more as a director for hire recently
#IBlameAviArad
they had rafe judkins, it didnt stand a chance
Ambition is not enough either. We have FF: The Spirits Between as example. They need to start building a movie as a god damn movie. The Sonic movie is probably the best and most recent example of this, as it is not the best movie ever, but it works as a movie, having or not previous knowledge: It starts, it stablishes the characters, it stablishes the rules, it stablishes the motivations, it stablishes conflicts and it has a resolution.
@@MazTheOriginalGod I think the thing with Final Fantasy is that Hironobu Sakaguchi works with videogames, not movies
Sonic The Hedgehog was made VFX artists with experience in filmmaking (Jeff Fowler and Tim Miller)
Plus, Sonic did have some ambition, at least to make it work, like pushing back the release date so they could redesign the title character
Yes but you can still make a decent movie based on video games. The real problem is they just don't even try.
when going from one medium to another, its important to keep the heart of the original creation.
pokemon-game and pokemon-anime are very different but also compliment each other. castlevania game and anime are also different but was a very good adaptation. as a game uncharted pushed the mechanics and visual capabilities of consoles but it had a strong story and characters around it. the movie couldve been fine as a not too faithful adaptation (i still like keanus constantine for example) but they tried to translate amazing video game moments into cinema without the heart of the experience. tom didnt struggle throughout the movie, he didnt grow much and the tension was non existent.. i like wahlbergs sully but i dont play uncharted so accurate or not i hope if theres a sequel, he comes back. maybe replace tom with someone older or bring him back with a better script as well
Being someone who loves every nook and crany about the games you can expect my dissapointment or rather lack there of when i saw this movie, my main problem is Sully, yeah i get he's not immediatly trusting of Nate and viceversa, but their relationship is one of absolute trust in the games, and here the only trust we get between them is at the very end and it doesn't feel deserved, Sully and Nate trust each other shortly after meeting in the games, and it's believable cause Sully saves Nate in a situation where he gains nothing out of it cause he sees a kid in danger, so Nate trusts him immediatly and you can fill in the gaps as to how their friendship came to be.
I always thought the 'video game curse' was the directors deciding to screw with the story instead of sticking with the one from the game
I can somewhat see Tom Holland as Drake, but Wahlberg as Sully is just horrendous casting. His casting pretty much killed the slight interest I had in seeing this movie.
I legit resemble drake from U:DF. I woulda been a better cast lol
I took me 5 minutes to think about better character introduce than in the movie:
Nate steals bracelet form this girl, like in the movie (so we know he's a thief).
-
BTW, am I the only one who think this scene 7:28 looks so bad and cheap? It's like director said: Here, have this empty paper cup and both of you go from the corner.
Your intro is too good. We can't have that, Sony would immediately veto it.
By Sony, I mean Avi Arad.
I have a strong suspicion that the girl with the bracelet is going to pop up in the next film, if there is one, and it'll be revealed that she's Elena.
Broski Did it.
this would have been way to good
This is actually pretty good, its a far better reason that what the movie came up with to have Sully and Nate to work together.
I remember when a lot of people claimed that the bad video game movie curse was finally solved with the sonic movie... oh sweet summerchild, the same they said about silent hill. One hit doesn't make a change.
you're not wrong
Just because one or two videogame movies are good doesn't mean the whole videogame curse has been broken.
i mean its broken for sonic & pikachu but there could still be bad upcoming videogame movies like megaman and hopefully not mario.

Without Marvel, there was no way Holland would have gotten this role on his own merit.
Probably not but Holland did a pretty good job in the movie overall based on what he was given. But yeah it’s clear that he was given the role due to his marvel popularity mainly. That’s not an issue in of itself but it still works in some cases, here is obviously not the best course of action!
@iamkiiea so when is Satan day?
EXACTLY. He's not a quality actor.
The most uncharted scene in this movie was when nathan tried to use the light fixtures to swing and fell down but kept going

Hardcore fans don’t make the studio money. Not saying you’re wrong but the cast and story decisions were made for profit
which is crazy because of how unenjoyable it is for people who dont play the game.

Maybe it's conditioning from cinemas these days or maybe Sony made them obvious enough for most people who would suspend their disbelief a bit and give the movie a chance, a small reward for doing so
Lord Filmento It was a honor to watch this video, I learned a lot, thank you
While I liked this movie, the biggest problem I had was that there were way too many betrayals.
I like the movie too and you're not wrong that there's so many betrayals
I mean it’s the beginning. None of them knew each other. If you remember uncharted 2 the game when you see Chloe for the first time there was already a history with them 2 and Nate didn’t really trust her too much. Kinda stuck the the story
It was pretty shit
Nothing will beat my experience of playing uncharted 4 for the first time
Never ask:
A woman: Her age
A man: His salary
The creators of this movie: Wherever the heck the uncharted storyline went
I think the most frustrating part of videos like this is that it doesn't seem particularly hard to fix all of these issues. Well I've got some minutes to burn so let's look at the introductions of the four primary characters for instance; Nate, Sully, Chloe, and The Antagonist.
Right now they're all disjointed, all of their meetings are separated. I can almost imagine the script as like "Level 1: When Nate Met Sully" "Level 2: Enter Chloe" "Level 3: Enter Antagonist". Nate and Sully meet, then they meet Chloe in a different setting and scene, and then it seems like the Antagonist is introduced in the Auction like in 4 I wouldn't actually know because there's no way I'm watching this garbage movie. But there's no reason you can't combine all of these together into a single sequence. So what I would do is;
Keep the scene of Nate stealing the bracelet from the woman at the bar, except with a few very important differences.
We all knew this would be bad when they cast Nathan Drake as Sully....
What you said about the forced Easter Eggs is absolutely true. Watched this movie at home with my family (been a superfan since 2017) and when Nolan North showed up, everyone else was scratching their heads while I was yelling. The only scene that I truly enjoy of this movie was the underground bar fight. The rest was as you said “a flat line” where I was just thinking how better the videogame do it
I didn't play the game, so maybe that's why I liked the movie. The plot holes didn't matter, because I too distracted by all the action.
Hollywood needs to stop casting Tom Holland. He has no charisma. He can’t be a leading man. He’s always going to look 16.

The critics score is 40% and the audience score is 90% I believe that speaks for itself.
The majority isn't always right. Filmento even acknowledged he liked the film, but it is incredibly flawed to the point it feels like it is more worth it to play the games as the games did this a whole lot better.

I've never heard that description for Barcelona, but I'm glad I did here.
Filmento: "We need video game movies that try to be more than just fun video game movies."
The Sonic movies: "Allow us to introduce ourselves."
"Twice" lol
It’s not just a bad Uncharted movie. It’s a bad movie in general; no emotion, no innovation. It’s forgettable. I probably won’t ever watch it again.
As someone who didn’t play uncharted or know anything about the franchise, I enjoyed it. I was not bored while watching it, and I liked the brothers both individually and in their relationship.
Thank you. It was not that bad of a movie. It wasn't perfect but I'd still give it no less than an 80/100
The issue with this movie was that, there was absolutely 0 danger.
Yeah we know they’re gonna survive like every movie ever but the weight of the fights and action was there
@@thesnipingspider3852 I guess that's the problem with making a prequel movie with characters that are alive and well.
@@holup4990 true
Excellent side by side editing! That was probably more work than I imagine it was. Kudos
Ok so here’s the thing, when I went in to this movie, I had one question in mind
“Does this feel like uncharted?”
And for the first half
HELL NAH
Nate was greedy, sully was greedy, and sure they’re both thieves, but not as bad as they portrayed them, however, towards the end, with the club fight, the underwater scene, with sully having to help Nate on the outside before Nate drowns, and don’t forget the final battle….that….that felt like uncharted, they got all of that so right, it felt like the game….now some moments were horrible of course
The main villain, both the Hispanic guy and the black lady, they sucked ass
Sully’s immense sense of greed
And that Chloe betrayal
All that sucked, but at the end of the day….considering this is a VIDEO GAME MOVIE…..they did a damn good job, and I walked away happy, knowing the uncharted movie didn’t completely suck ass
Also the fact that Nate FINALLY gets his iconic gun harness during the final battle and he’s gonna shoot teh bad guys…
…he misses and they shoot the gun out of his hand. Can’t have our golden boy Tom Holland be seen shooting somebody, can we?
@@LinkinMark1994 lol what? I can tell you haven’t seen Tom Holland in other movies at all as he’s shot and downed people in brutal ways with guns in other movies, go watch the devil all the time movie on Netflix. It’s a fantastic movie with a terrific performance from Tom Holland in that movie as he was fantastic entirely all the way!
Tom Holland isn’t a “golden boy” that’s “pure” as he HAS taken away lives in movies in brutal ways. Just watch them and you’ll see the full range that Holland has gone and it’s all fantastic to see!
But I do wish there was more gun fights in this film tho!
@@Gadget-Walkmen oh neat. Were those pre-Spider-Man or after? The only pre-Spider-Man movie of his I’ve seen is Billy Elliot but not the whole thing.
@@LinkinMark1994 it was AFTER his first 2 MCU Spider-Man movies, (which were both great films I would say easily) but the movie he REALLY did amazing in was The Devil All the Time movie. It’s a southern thriller film on Netflix, it’s a great film and you should definitely watch it entirely so as it’s awesome suspenseful movie with Tom Holland giving out a GREAT brutal performance in that movie as he was a complete badass in it. Holland IS a great actor and I wished more people realized his talent as he HAS done extremely well in fantastic films, not only MCU Spider-Man which he was already amazing as.
9:59 love the use of Kill Everybody - Skrillex here like it was used in the Uncharted 3 multiplayer trailer
i know the feeling of losing a dog. i had two dogs once
one passed away in 2008. she was 14 and we had to put her down. I was devastated as she was my first dog and I was only in middle school when it happened
the second dog I wasn't as sad but I was still very sad and sometimes the emotions hit again. she passed on in her sleep and was also 14
she passed away in the best way possible. she died happily in peace asleep and didn't feel any form of pain. I could never ask for any other way for all dogs to pass on.
More like "How Sony wanting big name and currently hot actors in their video game movie that look and sound nothing like the characters themselves and also hiring shit fuckin writers Ruins Movies" .
As someone who had never even heard of Uncharted before this movie and went into it hoping for a fun lighthearted action movie, I loved it.
play the games
fr they expect too much the movie was fine
The games are so much better. Like seriously if you thought this was any good you’ll be blown away by how good the games are.
You would have felt differently if you played the games. The only person I could envision as Nate is a 30 something Nathan Fillion and Sully....hmm maybe a late 50 something Harrison Ford
@@racpatrice well as someone who has played the games, it was a fun movie. Not incredible but I liked it, around a 7.5/10
Also the casting was wierd but honestly didn't really affect me at all except sully a little
I don't think Uncharted is awful for a video game movie, it's quite good and does everything just nicely. Great analysis either way, I can agree with most points.
The best Uncharted review on the internet. 10/10
i never thought a movie’s character interactions could be so bad that Filmento would use the star wars sequels as an example of what they should have done 💀
Review sonic movie 2 it's easily the video game movie of all time
I thought the first Sonic movie was better. The second one feels more like a kids movie.
@@nerychristian Umm Sonic is a kids franchise
When I watched this movie in the theater I didn't even cry or laugh or nothing. Instead I felt as if something was missing, and now I know why.
Yup i actually loved it.
I hope you play the games they are good
I watched someone else play uncharted 4 in hour long videos over 2 weeks and I still felt more emotion than when I watched this
