- In this video, we went to try Phed Mark, a restaurant owned by the one and only @MarkWiens here in Bangkok, Thailand! The restaurant offers only one dish; the delicious pad kra pow. This is one of the most famous Thai dishes! If you’re anything like us and love Thai food then we are sure you would have eaten it before! The dish comes in a range of spiciness levels, as well as a choice of protein sources; from wagyu beef, all the way to vegetarian tofu & mushroom versions. It looked good and I want the highest spice level always. Both you and your lady friend presented it well but Kai Dow over done Thai style , I like keep my whites soft and not crispy. I have to be honest though that heat level wouldn't even touch the sides. Im in Bhut Jolakia territory but for the price in BKK its looks way good.

Amazing how when UA-camrs work hard at doing what they love they can achieve so much and it's inspiring. Mark Weins bought a one way ticket to Thailand and didn't know what he was going to do, started teaching English while blogging, then started making videos and now he has his own business/restaurant! Yeahhh I never knew Mark owned the restaurant in Bangkok. Last time I went back to Thailand was 3 years ago before pandemic. I will try it for sure this June… I will be in Thailand 🇹🇭
My wife is Thai and we have seen Thai’s that would not eat the chili on top of the dish, and when we asked them they said it is just for show not to eat. But some still eat everything. I thing I would try the #2. Thanks so much for the video ☺️
Ah yes that’s probably wise!! They look terrifying to eat just like that 😅🌶 #2 would probably be a very pleasant spice level too 😍 even the completely spice-less one would probably be delicious because the other flavours were so amazing!
omg as a thai student that's gone abroad it's so heart warming to watch your videos. I especially love how there's also a vegetarian perspective because at least for me it was so hard being veg in Thailand.

Fell in love with Pad Kra Pao so much that I started growing my own Holy Basil in Colorado (inside of course) so I can eat this dish whenever I want. And to top it off with a Kai Dao (I think that's a fried egg). Heaven 😋

Where did you get the seeds and how did you manage to grow holy basil indoors? That’s amazing! Can’t find it anywhere here in Canada. Not even in China town
@@Busybeeee try an Indian store look for tulsi. You can use Thai basil but it’s much sweeter in comparison to holy basil, whereas holy basil has a much sharper and peppery taste.
@@KP0719x tried Indian stores too but no luck.. lots of fresh curry leaves though but no Holy Basil!
@@Busybeeee I live in Canada too, BC more specifically, and there's a family who lives near me who has a website where they sell hard to find thai seeds, not sure if they ship canada-wide though. As a Thai. I don't like spicy food at first (at first, as in when i was a literal child), but. As i've gotten older i got more and more built up tolerance for it and now, i eat my Somtum extremely spicy. When i make Somtum myself i just straight up grab the chillies with my entire palm and throws it all into a mortar.
Oh wow! That sounds spicy (and delicious!) 😍🌶 We have slowly been working up our tolerance! Since we are both European and grew up on the Un-spiciest foods - it’s taken a little while!

Thanks for the video. I had no idea Mark had a resto and I love that it has such a simple menu. I have to applaud Dylan for trying the "very spicy". I recommend drinking milk instead of water (which worsens the burn). Dylan have you tried the Korean spicy noodle challenge? I am not a vegetarian, but would love to try the vegetarian pad gra pao.

Great video! Like many I had no idea Mark owned a restaurant. Food looked great, especially the vegetarian version. Next time drink sweetened milk or better yet have a spoon of peanut butter to get rid of the heat! Water just makes it worse☺️

If your still in BK l saw a Rick Stein episode where he went to a Phad Thai streetside restaurant at Ghost Gate near the Palace they used prawn heads to add colour and taste ... apparently it's the best and oldest restaurant... dont know its name but if you wanted to check it out l guess you could Google that episode and have a look 🙂.. just a recommendation for you both

surprised at how well dylan dealt with the phad krapow. It's definitely the yummiest staple in thailand and its always cheap and delicious. Shame its not always that well marketed as most foreigners who never been to thailand usually ever only heard of papaya salad or tomyum. Thai people don't ever really have tomyum that often.
I eat krakow every day basically, haha! This one was the spiciest I ever had though!

I'll definitely go there when I'm in Bangkok. I like a little spice, but too much and I can't enjoy the food, so I think I'd order the very less spicy version.

I always say this, "no Chilies, no power". I love very spicy food. That food looked delicious! I always drink hot tea when eating spicy food. It helps reduce the spiciness better than cold water.
