  • Now that I have the treadmill set up in the pain cave, I thought I'd give Zwift Running a go. In this video, I review my experience of running on Zwift for the first time, including how accurate I found everything to be compared to the treadmill itself.

I calibrate my synapses 2.0 with a wind speed of 4 kmph and nature bound eye glasses, specially made for water runoffs and ear pieces to pick up soundscapes am- works really well!

JTX (in the UK), offered me a console upgrade for my already-excellent Sprint 7, making it a Sprint 7 Smart. I think it cost me £120: A small price to pay for such a massive upgrade. Amazing customer service! Before that, I was relying on a Zwift foot pod, or my Galaxy Gear S3 watch 🙄. I still use the watch for heart rate and pace, but having Zwift directly linked to the treadmill is a total game changer.

I'm using a Domyos 100e (Decathlon) smart treadmill, which pairs to Zwift on my Android phone via bluetooth. I also utilise a Wahoo Tickr heart strap and the Zwift runpod for cadence. Most of the time they all play nicely together and the speed on the treadmill matches the data on Zwift.

When I started on Zwift I used my garmin, but found it very inaccurate so went to using a footpod(Zwift).
It's a little out at lower speeds, but it's not a problem.

Great intake. I like to run indoor at the gym during winter but the short intervals like 30s or 20s are extremely hard to get that right considering the time you take to change the speed but for longer intervals like 1min 5 10min, I actually find it pretty consistent. I’ve got the virtual run on my Garmin Tactix7 but I never used it. I’m wearing the Zwift run pod wich picks up acccel/decel more accurately and TMO is relatively affordable compared to a Stryd powermeter. I like runnning on Zwift. That’s quite fun and less boring than treadmill without it. I noticed having the screen and follow intervals in front of me is easier to manage than checking the Garmin quite often outside and constantly make sure you’re in the right pace

I don’t have a Bluetooth treadmill but I just use the Diaz swift pod on my sneakers and I usually calibrate it every single time I get on the thing and it seems to hold steady if I’m doing something like you were doing that one thing I do know is when I calibrate it for say a maximum say 7 miles an hour if I bring the treadmill up to say 9 miles an hour it it doesn’t lineup. The treadmill is going faster than the swift thing is but that’s the only really issue that I find I would like to get a blue Bluetooth treadmill though.

Ive just started using a noble pro smart treadmill and its really accurate. The speed on the treadmill is always exactly the same as the app. The only gripe I have is I think it seems a little unfair that the cyclists get auto incline options on the app and the runners dont. I would pay for this option if it was made available just as they pay. The tech is there.. why don't they do it? Safety?

What are you using to monitor your sped? If it's a watch, your data won't be accurate at all. I use a Stryd footpod, which attaches to my sneaker. When calibrated, this shows pretty accurate paces.

Yeah I’m using my watch. I did think about getting a footpod, but it just doesn’t seem worth it at the moment.

Yes using your watch is pretty inaccurate because of the arm movements. I bought a Zwift footpod which is better, but at low speed it is out.

Yeah agreed. It is fine if you already have the watch and don’t want to buy a footpod and aren’t fussed about the accuracy, but it bothered me so I got the new Stryd footpod recently which I’ve been pleased with so far.

@Chris Colwill Yes I've read that even the Stryd suffers from inaccurate readings. It is the best of the bunch.

That is an option, but a more expensive one. I use a Stryd footpod now.
