I've watched several video's of yours....I'm sorry I hadn't subscribed yet. I subscribed today because you said..."WHAT'S IN THE BOX!!!!" Yes! Love it!
Thank you thank you for all the information! So very helpful.
Thanks for this video - you cleared up a lot for me. Stryd it is!
Thank you very much, indeed a very good review of the available options for pace and speed measuring while on a treadmill. For shure i will buy one of these. 👍😉
Just finished half marathon with my second 4% exactly the one you have. I think this new version of flynit is better since you dont have to adjust the shoe lace. The awesomeness of the Flynit of the Nike Freerun, and the carbon sole of the Zoom 4% and you've got the perfect Flynit 4% ultimate running shoes from Nike IMHO!
Nice video and thank you, although I was waiting for Cam and Lilly to come walking in at any moment. I cannot wait until I can run for more than a minute before maxing my HR.
You mention the Fellrnr website. How old are those reviews? The latest iPhone he lists is 5s, that was 2013 or 14. I know iPhones are not really all that acurate, or super acurate, but other products listed could have released some type of update in software or product.
Thanks for your review? Did you know if Stryd is compatible with Polar Vantage V? Thanks!!!
Funny watching this regarding your new 4% Nike’s which are for most way to expensive & your run was average in Porto despite a epic overall performance 🤟🏼 I have the stryd which is also over $300 Australian dollars but it’s super accurate & works fantastic inside on Zwift or outside being far superior to Garmin. I take my training seriously to justify the cost though. Good vid as always T😎
Yup, the 4%s are pretty nice. But I think the Zoom Fly are so similar that it’s hard for me to judge. Maybe down(up) in the rarefied zone of sub 4:00kms there’s a discernible difference, let us know.
Great guidance - thanks
Hi Taren, may I ask if you have any discount coupon or shopping link to Styrd footpod, please?
For someone who is not yet on Zwift, or on a treadmill, but may join in the future (but not quite yet), which one would you recommend (so, would be used MOSTLY for open road running in the beginning)? I'm guessing the Stryd?
HELP please :) I bouth a polar pod. My computer and Zwift detected the sensor..but when I start running, NO PACE..any idea? Thanks in advance and have a great day
what kind of durface do u have on ur garage floor ???...mine always condensate when the temp drops or gets humid and gets slick ....
Would love to try this, but can't find an affordable run pod that will work with Zwift. I wanted to use their recommended Garmin product but it looks like it's no longer available, at least in Canada. Any recommendations?
Very useful. I've been wondering what to get. Thank you.
A calibrated garmin foot pod would connect to a garmin fenix 6 via ant+ and hence giving me correct running speed for treadmill runs on the watch. If I then use the virtual run function on Garmin fenix 6 as speed and cadence source in swift, would not that be a very accurate and cheap option for people that already have a Garmin watch? Am I missing something here?
Hi, question. I have a garmin forerunner 645. I have a treadmill compatible with zwift. Do I have an advantage with the footpod?
Can you help me? My wahoo heart rate ticker won’t pair with my Zwift? Not sure why? But my polar H10 pairs fine. Thank you! Happy running and happy trails. Stay safe and stay strong! Cheers.
Taren I have watched you for years now, and I love the show. I have used wahoo HRM and Garmin HRM tri. The HRM tri blows wahoo's HRM out of the water. Plus it gives you your running dynamics. You should consider giving it a tri;).
Hunter Ellis agreed HRM Tri gives you all but power coming out of your run. I am wondering if it could connect to Zwift via the ant+ dongle
@@brandonscheer3151 I have connected it to Zwift, with no problem. While it might not have the power data, it's frequency is 2.4GH which is much stronger than any other HRM out there.
Hunter Ellis awesome thanks for the info. I’ll have to give it a shot. Happy training!
@@hunterellis9848 , would you say that you get a more or less precise pace/enjoyable experience with Zwift Running without a foodpod then? Thanks
@@hlaramelo, Personally I have never used the zwift foot pod, I have used the Garmin foot pod. The Garmin foot pod makes indoor running more accurate. Really you need a good treadmill for Zwift running.
I have the milestone pod (now Zwift) and also use a Garmin Ant+ footpod. I'm connected to my Laptop so Ant+ is not an issue. I find that the Ant+ Garming footpod is much easier to use. The Milestone pod takes a really long time to connect. I sometimes have to run for 2-3 minutes on the Milestone to get it paired. It's sometimes very frustrating and often the speed drops out sporatically.
i have a garminfootpod and i cnat seem to connect to zwift i dont know why
Do U Test the Runn Sensor ? Its 90$ and should be the best for tretmill running
Thank you
I use Ant+ because I have a Garmin fenix 5S. I also have an Ant+ HRM. I love these devices but wanted to get into Zwift. I bought the Zwift footpod only to then realize you calibrate it to the Treadmill at varying speeds. I already suspect my treadmill speeds is wrong as you pointed out in this video is a common thing. The reason I love my Garmin footpod is that it is calibrated OUTDOORS in conjunction with GPS. When I set my treadmill to 5 MPH my Garmin shows 5.2 MPH where as the calibrated Zwift show 5 MPH but I trust my Garmin.
Anyway, I am very interested in accuracy so I am looking into other footpods because you were right, the Garmin ones are very hard to find these days.
Hi, David! Did you have any issues connecting your Garmin pod to Zwift? I can not connect mine. I use ant+ dongle. The dongle works fine with hr or smart bike trainer. I can connect my pod to fr945 also. However it seems Zwift can't connect to my pod.
@@mitjakovacic I have not had any problems with my ANT+ dongle using my Windows 10 laptop. I am not using a dongle on a phone.
Hi Taren,
I noticed on your Race Day PR 70.3 video posted the other that you weren't wearing a fuel belt during the run. You've given Traniacs the nutrition calculator, which is super helpful and thank you for that! I'm just wondering how you're able to keep track of how much nutrition you're taking in during the run if you're not using a fuel belt and instead are relying on aid stations?
I have pockets in my suit, my nutrition was in my back pockets!
Is garmin tri zwift compatible ?
Hey I have a question and need the runners to answer. Are run pods worth it? Are they better than Fitbit and worth investing in? I am trying to think of a good gift for a runner I know.
Hey Taren,
I'm going through a very hard phase at the moment. To keep it short: I've been fat, then too thin, then less thin but still too thin, started triathlon, too many sessions => OVERTRAINING (I'm 15). Now I've been back for about 3 months, just doing some bike and gym sessions. Did my first run about 3 days ago and well, kinda sad when you see yourself running at a pace of 5:45/km instead of 4:45 and feelin your knees and muscles that theire not used to this movements... My question is, could you please make a video about overtaining and, if you have, share some experiences. If not, I'd be nice anyway cause you're one of the few that can really make me feel happy right now. Thank you so much for being you and for being so kind and thank you for just EVERYTHING.
Lots of greetings from Germany.
Tim
Hey Tim! Sorry you're feeling that way. I was overtrained last year, you should search my UA-cam channel for the video called losing my motivation. I hope it might help! Chin up, the worst thing you can do is push too hard so let your body heal! Take it easy, you have your whole life to train!
I've never, never ever , been even half as excited as you were after a treadmill run. 😉
Can you review the Scosche Rhythm 23, I use it as my go to HR monitor and it has ability to do running cadence and works with Zwift running. Curious to get your take.
Sorry 24, finger troubles.
If they want to send one to me, I can certainly review it!
haha funny question, but what are the best underwear for running? Thanks
So does the Stryd need calibration or not? Thought I read it did but you noted it was super accurate without calibration.
you can. but I it is more likely you will "calibrate" it off therefore it being less accurate. So no, you dont really have to calibrate it
Taren, have you compared the pods head to head to see how much they vary one from the other? I have a garmin and recently got a zwift one due tousing my phone on the treadmill and not able to connect it to zwift. I have run with both at the same time and have noticed a significant diference of up to 45 sec per mile between them garmin reporting the fastest pace, but the zwift one seems to be more in sync with the treadmill numbers. Kind of frustrated with this since i like using zwift but hate that i im not getting accurate numbers with it.
As you are wrapping up, your dog gets up and starts wagging his tail. Seems like he has learned the drill.
What would be the cheapest sensor pod that can pick up, HR, Speed, Cadence and miles if ran only on treadmill and post the work out afterwards in Strava.
Just threadmill would be zwift pod from what I understand.
I have a milestone footpod. It’s pathetic. Can’t even connect to Zwift anymore. Always drops out. Also doesn’t work until I was running over 6km/h. I’m saving for a Stryd but it will cost me $350 shipped from the states to Australia.
YES!!!!
Do someone know where to buy stryde in norway?
Online only
So, I'm thinking of getting a Garmin 935 to track all of my training. Will this Stryd footpod track running better than the Garmin 935? Also, do you know if the Stryd footpod can sync with Garmin 935?
I have a 935 and can say that if you are doing a lot of indoor training on the treadmill, the pace that the 935 measures is pretty much useless. Outdoors it is great.
@@knight1boner do you think the 935 with the additional HR Monitor Strap would solve that for indoor or a footpod is still needed? Thanks!
@@hlaramelo The chest HR strap will give you better HR data than the wrist based HRM, but I am pretty sure it will not impact the pace that the watch is projecting. A footpot would be useful if you care about pace. If you are training to HR then no worries. I won a Zwift footpod and it is also pretty useless (no accurate or consistent) ... I guess you get what you pay for.
Jared Bone awesome. thanks for the answer!
Pete realises that when you're talking to the camera that your attention is not on him. Clever boy realises the best way to get your attention is to get involved. Perhaps there are some contributions that Pete can make which aren't just cameo appearances? :) Triathlong Pete? Trainiac Pete?
He's a smart cookie, that one!
I love your channel, but I got to disagree regarding the Stryd. I own and have been using a Stryd (wind) for over a year, and the speed measure on a calibrated treadmill is quite unreliable. I got so annoyed by it that end up buying a Runn -what a difference! 100% accurate at all level of speed I tested (from 0.5mph to 12mph). I am super disappointed with 225 bucks I paid for the Stryd...
Do you think the cadence measurements on watches are very accurate? Or would it be more accurate with a foot pod?
Food pod!
Friend, you have quite the varicose thigh at 2:04. Ever get that checked out?
Actually, yes!
What foot pod is best for Zwift? Zwift foot pod??
Just started zwift running with the Garmin footpod, very easy to pick up online (in UK) and seamless connection for me as I'm already transmitting bike power to zwift via an ANT+ dongle.
There is a zwift running Facebook page which is a good place to read up on what others are using.... Most people there highly rate the stryd footpod. The zwift/milestone pod gets mixed to negative reviews.
For me as long as the footpod measures changes in pace and i get a good workout at ballpark distances on the treadmill I'm happy. Accurate distance and pace work will be stuff outside on the track and at measured races.
how did you connect to zwift i recently bought garmin footpod and no connection i dont know what im doing wrong
I have those shoes :D
Thanks key words even Zwift recommends the Stryd and not their own version from milestone. Which can have all the tech needed at an attractive price but its garbage. Why, as just about everyone who's got 1 has too do frequent updates via milestone & the accuracy is awful a m.p.h. over/ under when it does connect which is rare as it never stays connected long enough for u to complete even 1/3 of a mile
I have a Zwift pod. The accuracy for pace (and therefore distance) is so far off that it isn't really worth running on Zwift. They sent it to me for free through a competition so I can't complain about the price...
I was calling bullshit until I read it up (the only zwift "pod" I remembered was the stryd live one). Sucks to hear that they messed that one up
i have garmin footpod doesnt even connect to my phone zwift
I did the same thing. Wasted the money. threw the box right out thinking i was going to use this thing for ever and now its pointless.
What phone have you got? Have you heard of Ant+ (this is what Garmin devices broadcast their data in) All of my Garmin devices have worked great with each other and my Andriod phone which I have now (S10+)
DC Rainmaker is a product reviewer, look him up if you never heard of him. Almost guaranteed he would done some sort review garmin devices and Zwift.
If you have an Apple device, you can buy a 4iiii HR strap and this will convert the Ant+ signal to bluetooth and enable your Apple phone to be able to pick your footpod to be used with Zift.
I dont run, I only cycle but the fact that all of my bike tech is made by Garmin and for years Zwift was only available to me via apple platforms forced me to find ways to my tech and apple devices to communicate to each other.
@@garethjones3070 the phone and watch detect it but zwift does not. so although the phone knows its there, zwift cant find it or use it.
For the life of me, I cannot find the Stryd foot pod for sale anywhere! EDIT: Found it! Just ordered one now.
The Cat Ate My Shoe where did you find it? I’m struggling ! Thanks
@@richardmiller5564 I actually went to the Stryd website. I ordered it and got it in 3 days.
I just found it. Thanks
The Styd pod was a big dissepointment. Half my outdoor runs it would not record any data and it's very hard to troubleshoot. Their CS was clueless. The Milestone has not let me down yet & @ 1/6 the cost it's a no brainer.
Did you contact Stryd? You may have gotten a faulty unit, I'm sure they'd replace it.
@@TriathlonTaren I contacted them, their customer service didn't have clue, maybe support in northamerica is better. As mine was a used one. The guy I got it from took it back & that was the end of it.
@@stijndeklerk sucks to hear. Haven't had any problems with mine, same for 2 friends. 1 had a faulty one but CS replaced it without even asking. EU though
garmin footpod $160 only on on an iphone.
Love ya pooch
What’s his breed & name?
Petey, and he's a wonderful mutt!
i have 1 question, why are you wearing a hat inside
