I was at first too! But there’s nothing to be scared of. The warmups (I feel) are quite long and slow often about a third of the actual warmup. Then the paces are all set with what records you’ve set/inputted to zwift. So whilst some workouts are harder than others they should all be in the right zones.
I totally still get that fear now too. I don’t do any of that crazy interval stuff where you jump on and off that belt. 1 - it doesn’t really seem to useful for training, and 2 - it looks so scary! Honestly if I’m on a treadmill and not using Zwift something has probably gone wrong. It’s just so nice to have something simulating running for you. Plus it’s free (if you’re only using the running side).
@@rhiannonruns829 ya, don't do the stunt of jumping off to the side rails. Those just good for video and eventually one jump will be a bad jump and down hard you go. Due to Covid-19 and the tracks are closed, so to get a flat route to do intervals my only choice is the TM. What I did is just use the 'pause' button, just stay still for the 30-60scs rest. The TM takes some time to get up to speed, so need to press 'resume' 20scs earlier. if the next interval set is at the same pace, viola, all you need is press 'resume' otherwise adjust the speed during the rest period. That 60 scs will fly in no time. I have found intervals on the TM very beneficial ever since because it forces you to hit all the paces spot on. No room for lacky. Tq for the video.
Thanks Rhiannon! ...question, I am interested in a goal which is speed/time e.g. 12 KMH for 5 minutes. Can you tell me how to set up that kind of goal?
I think in Zwift the goals for the run is actually quite limited! The best way would be for zwift to allow us to make custom workouts for running (like they do for cycling!), however I’m yet to come across a good way to do this. The only way you can have two goals at once at the moment is if you’re using heart rate zones as you’re able to set a goal for being in X zone for Y minutes, but nothing in terms of speed and time. It may be that looking through the workouts and seeing if there’s something there that fits that box. They’re all based on the times you’ve inputted into your profile section but can be slightly adapted with workout bias through the companion app.
Whilst you’re running and in Zwift, I know that from a tablet/phone you’re able to swipe the right column off the screen and that will remove it completely whilst you’re in game. I accidentally did that once whilst trying to give someone a kudos and couldn’t work out how to get it back on screen!
Thank you for sharing these tips! I recently found how to create custom workouts in Zwift, how amazing is that. I can’t believe it’s free
Are you using the Zwift Runpod or something else? How accurately does it measure speed?
Thanks! I didn’t know about the photos and I also have been pretty apprehensive about the workouts but this was extremely helpful.

This is great! I do have a weird fear of falling off a treadmill and have used Zwift ride. But the run does seem intriguing appreciate all the tips!

That was helpful, thank you
You're welcome!
Apart from photos, do you know if you can take off from the screen the right side with list of runners, etc. ?
