I’ve been playing around with mywoosh and Rolla before I’m locked away in a Canadian winter paying $20/month for zwift. I’m excited that there is competition in this space.
im super happy zwift has some competiton. Definitely gonna swich to mywoosh, at least until next year. Where i live, zwift costs quite a lot and when im not riding i always have that in the back of my head "i paid so i should be zwifting". Putting some weird pressure on myself. Looking forward to further development of apps like mywoosh, etc. Compared to regular "gaming" industry, they're very much in their early stages in pretty much every aspect. One of them being monetization
I agree with the high cost of Zwift. In Canada, I pay more than $20 per month. I have had a couple of health issues this year so I could not ride for 5 months, overall. I should have suspended my account but didn't. When I went back to riding I definitely felt the pressure on myself to ride more. Finally, I suspended my account to remove that pressure.
As other fellow cyclists mentioned an iOS compatibility is a precondition for me to give it a try. Zwift has been an integral part of my falling back in love with cycling and I do enjoy the „banter“ during group-rides. I've been trying it for a week now. It looks fine on my PC. I liked the experience. Only one thing bothers me and it is the integration of the secondary power source, which is my pedals, that I find a little bit off. Depending on the cadence (the higher the cadence, the bigger the gap), the power-match function can fail to sync with up-to 20 Watts of difference (I am watching my head unit), which is too much. Aside of this I am fine with the app.
Will the Zwift crazy price hike be the straw that breaks the Zwift camel's back? However, I don't understand why there are no European routes (except for Belgium). Where are the climbs of France, Italy and Spain?
Just found this video and interesting. Until it comes to Apple TV it is a non starter for me and a lot of people I suspect. MyWoosh isn’t going anywhere without apple. Zwift is still a clear winner with their racing and 24/7 events. I have an RGT account because of magic roads, and the platform is great too - but these two are still light years ahead of MyWoosh.
Not a big fan of garage turbo riding really. But do use it when the weather here in the UK is making outdoor rideing too dangerous, i.e. high windsm anow, ice and floods. I used to use traing videos, with real life group rides, e.g. CTC Aussie group rides etc. I did fancy having a bash at Zwift, but couldn't justify the price for what little use I would use it for. Saw MyWhoosh, and thought I'd give it a go. Yes, it was a bit fidely to set up the account, but I think that the rider graphics etc are more realistic then Zwift, and you can choose shirt design, helmet, gloves, socks, shoes, bike and facial features. I run it on my phone, but use a screen mirroring app to project it to the screen on my laptop. Resolution is fine for me. Not really bothered about social interaction with other riders.
I don’t know who is the target audience for those social features to be honest. I’m ditching Zwift as we speak, just need to synchronise my TP calendar. I would do my trainings with Garmin if they ever figured out a proper erg control, but so far no luck.
just tried it today. There is more than enough there for me to try it even more before getting my winter subs $$ for zwift and rouvy. Can't beat free and it is pretty darn close to zwift already.
great review, imagine if MyWhoosh were smart enough to recognize all our levels and achievements (tron bike) in zwift so we don't have to start over again. they'd need some epic climbs as well, I'm not talking mario kart like portals as zwift is doing but life like tour climbs, the experience looks like an unrefined version of zwift with no climbs, and nobody to ride with. I'd say they're 5 years away from impacting zwift's market share.
I'll try it when they have it on an iOS platform. Sounds interesting though. I like new worlds. Zwift doesn't seem to roll them out fast enough. If they think (Zwift) that it will be too many, they can retire some routes. But I guess that's another discussion. Thanks for the insight.
Great review, despite having all the money to throw at the game, it can’t match Zwift community. Think about coming out with another version of Strava. Most won’t switch either even if it is free. Unless you get paid for taking a KOM….
i tried mywhoosh months ago, while the graphics feels and looks similar to swift it is also very buggy and no macOs support just yet.. so went back to swift instead
I live in Turkey. Zwift raised the monthly membership fee by 700%. While I was previously making a monthly membership with 50 Turkish Liras per month, this fee suddenly increased to 400 Turkish Liras per month. Since Wahoo RGT has the same fee, I think I will give #Wahoo RGT a chance this winter.
i always thought since they know where you are and who you are ,why not advertise example you are in Vancouver in the rain and go in MyWhoosh and there is a advert for a sunny holiday for $700/week or if you do ten laps you can get a discount . or a pizza place advertises to you when you finish the ride or as you are riding it knows you are doing a flat ride it ups the resistance then it orders a pizza for you based on how many calories you burnt on the ride
Graphic requirement is too high. Not very forgiving for old PC. A unfinished product with a lot of potential. Many aspects and details need to be improved before charging money.
Tried it a few times but unless you have a mega computer the app runs like shit. Massive delays between pressing the pedal and the game responding. No one wants to have to buy a gaming pc to ride on a cheesy bike app
Let's just get things straight. The only reason Mywhoosh got the contract is MONEY, I predicted it 2 years ago that Mywhoosh would get the UCI races due to having shed loads of cash to throw at UCI
Tried it last week, extremely memory hungry, running off mid range laptop, using high vid settings movements were jerky, settled on mid level which resulted in mediocre graphics. App crashed halfway thru the ride, uninstalled it right after, not impressed with any aspect of the platform.
Zwift is too expensive and is intimidating with the competitiveness. I tried Rouvy but found it a bit boring. This Whoosh seems one I will really like!
Ask Pogacar to lead a group ride that’s publicised and I’m sure that would get a few additional people to at least try it out given the affiliation with UAE
I'm using it but there is no real people just bots and also there is no way to see who's a bot and who's a rider . But it is free and quite well made ,just need more people to try it out so that I have someone to race against
The 30fps looks like a hard cap. And I can't understand, as a hardcore gamer who goes to great lengths to get as many fps as possible, why I would want or need more than 30 or 60fps in a training app. Literally makes no difference. 30 is low, it should really be 60 minimum. But over 60 is pointless. That said, it's capped at 30, that's pretty clear.
Good review. I just tried to sign up, but their registration does not accept birthyears before 1970 :-) Very weird limitation. Obviously a bug (?), but how can such a bug go unnoticed and unfixed?
MyWhoosh is going to have a number of problems and I am personally cautious to it. One of the biggest "red flag" is this being Saudi based. Surface problems are the user interfaces, bots, lack of other riders etc and the number of other come and gone platforms. The two dominant platforms are pretty much like Apple (Peloton) and Android (Zwift having the potential to be Google) and the rest are the Windows Mobile, Nokia OS etc which all went by the by and MyWHoosh is going to have to contend with that. The greater hurdles is the origin of MyWhoosh. Local riders: Zwift and Peloton works because they know their demographics and the platforms cater to them. Zwift specifically has a mix of geographically remote locations (Watopia) and local locations (Richmond, London, NY etc) which the majority of the riders using the platform (the tropics where winter is bad weather) know from the EU and NA racing scenes, UCI worlds courses or if in Asia, the Neokio routes to connect to. Saudi doesn't have that cycling cultural demographic because they don't have the IRL racing culture, history or links; or winters where they use Zwift or Peloton keeps through the cold and dark. If Saudi had a home population supporting this and instantly adding 1,000 of users per month (which a F1 game could do instantly due to FI in the oil state), then the barren landscape would fill and potentially inertia into more non-middle eastern riders. Instead they're hoping North Americans and Europeans will care about middle eastern routes they have no connections with. If they'd launched with extensive NA, EU and Asia route portfolios, I'd see them addressing the cycling markets first, not their home markets. I'd have an interest if they could offer me the Alpes, Dolomites, Paris-Roubaix cobbles, Angliru, Pikes Peak, climbs in Asia or up to Everest Base Camp, but there's no replication or mapping of EU routes or classics nor an amazing virtual other-worldy place to which would work with Ready Player One immersion. Then there is platform burn out. Facebook was the platform of domination, but then there were others. Then parents swamping FB so everyone jumped to Insta, or Twitter which is now X or Threads/Masterdon/BlueSky when all the short form Twitter wars exploded, but then jumping TikTok, Kik, Twitch, Discord and every other platform possible. On socials, there's jump jump jump between accounts and platforms. Most riders can't be arsed with that so if they're invested in a social group on one, unless they do a Reddit and destroy their own business, Zwift is a hard incumbent to have a justification to leave from. Finally, it's Saudi. There's the whole human rights abuse thing plus from the region, the Qatar world cup which looks like one of the largest sports corruptions of all time. Last year I set the Zwift distance ride record at 1,851km and I have been thinking of beating it and going higher. I'd have consideration on what platform to use and what publicity and reputation would come off it. If it's Zwift, NA based, supported, verifiable and clear funded then there's no contests to reputation or sideshow to my platform choice. If I used MyWhoosh, besing Saudi based there would be the focus on the distance and platform used, but also the double edge to publicity and questioning coming from using a Saudi platform with funding from a backer with bad human rights records. I'm minor in this picture, but if I was an event host and there was a prize pot, the questions on the money would be raised. If MyWhoosh had the same graphics, support, apps, functions etc but funding was from South Korea or Japan, linked to a more cycling supportive country and didn't have human rights issues, I think the same software development would go further than where this'll go on less spend. I have the feeling that this will get some traction, but it'll be brute force spending that gets it there (hence the UCI deal).
Your comment sounds very prejudice, firstly UAE = Dubai. Nothing to do with saudi , unless you consider the entire middle east the same lol just because they're Muslim which btw nearly a third of the planet is so ....
@@oayysz8909 my comment is more in relation to cycling culture. Cycling has had a lot of investment from Arab region in last 10 yrs (Bahrain team, Tour of Oman and plenty of others). The highest cycling km per capita is Netherlands, highest bikes per capita is China, all these areas are where cycling (performance, transport, leisure and all other forms) is part of live. The oil states where gas is cheap and car ownership and infrastructure is high is not a natural bedfellow with cycling which is raising the motivational point. The CEO of MyWhoosh states that they are keen cyclist and want to progress this and that I can believe.......but the money side of it. A free platform with big investment from the state is never free. What's the cost somewhere down the line on this??? Zwift development is cash starved but you know what your subscription pays for. Going to a free anything, what's the back payment? My data? Something else? Every global market assessment is showing oil states have to diversify the revenue portfolios for a post-oil world and every oil state is making big non-oil based investments into funding local, regional and global projects in infrastructure, sports and leisure. If it's buying a football team, it's stand ticket returns, marketing and merch giving the ROI. This though? I want to know more on the motivations side of this.
So financed by oil money just like many pro cyclist and soccer players? In soccer they even name stadiums after their sponsors so I really don’t have any issues with this because nobody care about sports washing and I did for a long time, but couldn’t convince even my own colleagues that maybe they should not watch the winter Olympics in China…so I climbed down from my high horse and switched from Zwift to Whoosh.
Unless mywhoosh can get rid of the huge amount of bugs they keep introducing with each new update, get it to run on less powerful hardware, they recommend a PC with a £1.5k graphics card as perferred hardware, sure ive run it on a once top end 7 year old gaming PC but it sometimes drops to 12fps (something it never did over the past year before the new flashy update), i still play games at 100fps or more on this PC. They need to sort the code out, PC version is 14gbs in size!!! Unless they sort the problems in time for the UCI next year it could be the biggest embarrassment and flop ever.
Would love to give it a try seeing that it is a free app. However, I've tried loading it to my PC and can't get it to run. Apparently you need a fairly high end computer to run it. I can run Zwift on both my 5 yr old and 10 yr old laptops. Shelling out $1500 CA for a computer that will run a free app is a little difficult to swallow.
I use windows/linux and am considering MyWhoosh for this winter over Zwift, but I'm scratching my head here at how they don't have a Mac version available.. That said, are there many flat routes in Arabia (i prefer flats)? Also, any word on if they're going to include any routes in East Asia, China in particular? I've dreamed of a virtual crit race route modelled after Dishui Lake in Shanghai.
@@SmartBikeTrainersok, so streaming this to an ATV will temporarily fill the ATV void. Do you have a vid talking about the on boarding process? You mentioned it being cumbersome! Thanks
You make excellent comparisons between competing products and explain well why some thrive and others need to be lights-out from the beginning in order to challenge them.
So glad competition to Zwift is starting to take shape … as much as Zwift is good, it is too expensive IMO. Hopefully this will either push Zwift to reconsider their fees or push people away from it.
Agree. For winter I'm willing to pay the price for the three months or so, when I know I'll be using it quite a lot, to get the most out of the trainer, which wasn't cheap either. However, for the rest of the year I want to be outside as much as possible and only use Zwift a few times when the weather is very bad, then the price is way too high and only one free (and slightly interrupted) session a month is in that regard not enough.
Its cheap as peanuts, you can ride 3/4/5 more times a week, no need to outdoor kit, saves on cafe stops. I use it all year round, keeps me in good shape for doing the odd outdoor sportive. I understand the allure of outdoor riding, but the convenience for me outweighs everything else. Plus I have temperature controlled setup so dont worry of cold or hot days
@@jeskli11 15$ per month is expensive? That's three medium cappuccinos in US. Coffee price is ridiculous, not the subscription fee. But I agree, I wish there should be a discounted year subscription, that would ensure a more stable income for Zwift. I ride from October until March/April then I go outside.
@@tommylobotommy It also depends on your income… I'm an university student with no permanent income. It's also worth noting Zwift subscription is the same price all over the world. I, for example, live in the Czech Republic, where the minimum wage is about half to let's say Germany or Austria, in the US it depends on state, but the average wage there is more than double of what we have in Czechia. Translated, if Zwift for you is like three cups of coffee, for some people like me it might be rather like five uber-expensive cups of coffee I wouldn't buy either.
Nice app and free! So many training plans. Its a nice option if you dont want to ride indoors all month long. They need to create meetups ? Steuctured group rides ? Training rides ?
Maybe now that RGT is being eliminated by Wahoo, MyWhoosh will gain many RGT users. I think it will take National race organizations to join UCI in promoting their own Esports championships to get more of the real road racing community. It will never kill Zwift, but it doesn't have to as long as Zwift continues to have erroneous drafting algorithms.
I simply don't see that happening since Whoosh is a Zwift copy, while RGT had a different focus (realistic racing experience and community events). An RGT user is just as likely to pick Zwift over Whoosh as anyone else.
I use Zwift once every couple of months as I am more of a runner, so paying the monthly fee for one or two rides is annoying, this sounds like a great alternative
There is a reason why Zwift cycles through availability of the different worlds and routes. Simple to keep it fresh for the riders and mostly that all players are not scattered on all the routes making them look half empty. Mywhoosh should do the same, and actually a lot more tightly since they have fewer players.
@@noggintubeyes that makes sense, but still scatters people on different routes and still by far most people are looking at the social part if you look at complaints on Mywhoosh.
that's one of the things I hate about Zwift. I can't plan around Zwift's availability of routes. I want to ride up the big mountain in France NOW, because today is the day I actually have time for it, but exactly then it is not available. Super annoying. I don't care about other riders in the virtual world. If I would I could always join a group ride.
A lot of RGT users are now using indie velo. I gave this a try but for some reason it’s all limited to 30fps by design and with graphics on high and riders on screen it drops too low to be any good. Zwift competition is always good, keeps things moving forward
They could add missions. Like a 5 minute mission to do a leadout for an AI sprinter. Or stay in the wheel of your sprint-train and do the sprint yourself.
It wouldn't even install on my i3 12100 with RTX 2060 that I built specifically to run Zwift in ultra settings, which it does with ease. It says a MINIMUM of a 3060 Ti, and preferably a 3080 to run the program. That's crazy. I'm a long standing CAT 2 cyclist and know a LOT of cyclists, and very few I know have full on gaming rigs. Who did they design this for? I'm all for competition, but this? No thanks.
In my experience it's mostly full of bots masquerading as real riders. You aren't going to goad anyone into a game of cat and mouse, like you can on Zwift.
I think that the 30 FPS is locked. Changing the video setting from the simplest to the ultra setting (if your computer can do it) on my computer does not change it - it is still 30, which is ok. I have not noticed any stuttering. I currently have no sound and music in game, only in the opening menu - I looked around on the net and I think they are reworking it so it it is not working, but it would be nice to have some basic sounds when riding. Also there are some weird pre-set options in the submenu. When you first start the ant+ is turned off in the sub-menu (it took me some time to find out why my ant+ power meter was not connecting, I thought there was a conflict with other apps in the OS system or something with the firewall) .The social element is lacking. Mostly I ride alone among bots. Otherwise it is very similar to Zwift. I think my whoosh has a better trainining section - the workouts are logically separated into sub-categories - threshold, endurance, sweetspot, VO2 max, tempo etc. The workouts are mostly really "classical", no Zwift circus stuff, more like trainer road, there is lots of them and the purpose and the structure of each workout is explained in its description. Erg mode has problem setting the right intensity, if the workout says 250w, in erg mode I always end up doing 265w or 270w even though I keep a stable pedalling frequency. This only affects higher intensities above 200w so I cannot use erg mode for interval workouts (I use Elite Suito).
Currently this platform serves the public image of UAE (United Arabic Emirates), termed as "sportswashing". You should know the postion of UAE towards human rights. In addition the connection to World Tour Team UAE Emirates is too strong for my liking, no attempt to neutrality. As often in life when something is for free: there is a snag.
Nah - wouldn't run smoothly on my relatively high end laptop. You need a good GPU, like a gaming machine for this to run. Also - there is that whiff of sportwashing about it. Personally I'd prefer to stay clear of something strongly associated with the UAE regime. IndieVelo - also free - is a much more appealing option. It also runs well on my laptop (as does Zwift and Rouvy).
I don't know... I used to ride Zwift but I am really bored of this virtual reality apps. I switched to Rouvy and am very satisfied with the real-world routes and possibility to visit different places from my living room. Would be curious if there is a similar "rival" to Rouvy on the market...
With the latest Zwift price increase, I’ll be switching to MyWhoosh when my Zwift subscription is up.
Jep. Four days left at Zwift. 20€ That's way to expensive...
Haven't tried it yet, but I think this is exactly what I've been looking for. No crowds, no annoying "Ride On Thumbs" all over the place. No cost....Perfect!

The current exchange rate is about 27 Turkish Liras to the to the USD. That's pretty close to $15 per month.
i always thought since they know where you are and who you are ,why not advertise
example you are in Vancouver in the rain and go in MyWhoosh and there is a advert for a sunny holiday for $700/week or if you do ten laps you can get a discount .
or a pizza place advertises to you when you finish the ride
or as you are riding it knows you are doing a flat ride it ups the resistance then it orders a pizza for you based on how many calories you burnt on the ride
Wil definitely try, good tip 👍
Tariq thanks :) Nice review :)
They are just going to keep it free and get people hooked, and then jack up the price. I’ve seen it happen with so many apps.
Competition is a positive thing.
It does not work with my Wahoo Kicker Snap. I understand that it does not work with on wheel smart trainers.
I installed it, it did not find any of my mainstream Bluetooth or ANT+ devices, I uninstalled it. Zwift has no issues whatsoever.
like MyWhoosh but would enjoy ambient sounds which don't seem to exist right now. Zwift is familiar but too expensive
It won't download to my device so i guess I'll never know if it's worth it
I've just cancelled my Zwift subscription after the latest price rise to US $19.99 per month. Too expensive. I'll give this a go.
Graphic requirement is too high. Not very forgiving for old PC. A unfinished product with a lot of potential. Many aspects and details need to be improved before charging money.
I cant install it on my 3 year old ipad..... annoying.
Thank you for the information ☕️
You bet 👍
Hey, does anyone know if mywhoosh is compatibl with the virtual shifting of the zwift hub one?
No it is not compatible
@@SmartBikeTrainers Thank you
Waiting for the Mac version.
I'm wondering if they're going to focus on cycling or social issues....
They still need to work on their cadence software, it lags really bad when soft pedaling...
I don't think anyone believes it was for any other reason.
So it’s basically financed like a lot of pro cyclists and soccer players?
Is there a possibility to create your own route? Like MagicRoads?
No, they don’t offer the ability to create own routes at this time.
But it is free and quite well made ,just need more people to try it out so that I have someone to race against
Waiting for Mac OS. I tried it on my phone and it seemed like I was only racing bots!
Waiting for Apple TV version
MyWhoosh who, never heard of it? I love Zwift, so why try anything else...
Wipe your lips, you have some of Zwifts juices dripping down the side of your mouth.
I'm definitly moving from Zwift to MyWhoosh. $15 pm is rediculous.
I easily spend $15 at Starbucks. Zwift is a bargain for a months use with very good customer service.
Does My Whoosh work on Apple TV or iPad?
It works on the iPad. Apple TV version is supposed to be coming at some point.
Good review. I just tried to sign up, but their registration does not accept birthyears before 1970 :-) Very weird limitation. Obviously a bug (?), but how can such a bug go unnoticed and unfixed?
Ah, OK - it can be changed after first login. Still, weird limitation during registration.
Ugh… that’s weird for sure. Thanks for the feedback. Hopefully they see your comment and fix it :)
15 for zwift ok , but rumors of price increase , if true
will make people look mywhoosh
what cost this app monthly?
nothing. it is free
@@noggintube My mistake, I am sure in the video the reference was to Saudi.
@oayysz8909 yeah please go ahead and teach us about the many cultural differences between UAE and Saudi-Arabia.
Thanks for the update, it was awfully bloated and buggy when I last tried it, sounds like it hasn't got better. Will stick to RGT and Zwift.
@4:12 You used to live in an ancient city! You don't look that old😮 I guess it's all the mileage you put in!
I never understood the name. From a marketing standpoint it's a terrible name choice. The ingame engine is sure nice looking though!
Rouvy has.
I am waiting for Mac OS compatibility, but I am definitely interested in trying it out.
It’s on their roadmap and hopefully it comes out pretty soon.
Same.
So it’s not on iPad either?
@@NeonGrayEditsit is available for the iPad and iPhone
Super cheap for what it provides.
There are workout group rides!
Many RGT users?? 😂 There were barely any people on RGT
@@mjf1975that’s why so many people liked it, not overcrowded like Zwift.
I use Zwift once every couple of months as I am more of a runner, so paying the monthly fee for one or two rides is annoying, this sounds like a great alternative
Zwift is still free for running
There is a reason why Zwift cycles through availability of the different worlds and routes. Simple to keep it fresh for the riders and mostly that all players are not scattered on all the routes making them look half empty. Mywhoosh should do the same, and actually a lot more tightly since they have fewer players.
They should at least show number of Live users in the list view (for each area and map)...
@@noggintubeyes that makes sense, but still scatters people on different routes and still by far most people are looking at the social part if you look at complaints on Mywhoosh.
@familiekontoen1955 I disagree! That's a terrible idea! Why do you want to be pigeonholed??? I do not support that at all!
that's one of the things I hate about Zwift. I can't plan around Zwift's availability of routes. I want to ride up the big mountain in France NOW, because today is the day I actually have time for it, but exactly then it is not available. Super annoying. I don't care about other riders in the virtual world. If I would I could always join a group ride.
Switched the myWhoosh after the recent Zwift price hike. As a non virtual racer, this is spot on!
Cof, cof...sportswashing.
Or stay in the wheel of your sprint-train and do the sprint yourself.
indievelo review perhaps?
It wouldn't even install on my i3 12100 with RTX 2060 that I built specifically to run Zwift in ultra settings, which it does with ease. It says a MINIMUM of a 3060 Ti, and preferably a 3080 to run the program. That's crazy. I'm a long standing CAT 2 cyclist and know a LOT of cyclists, and very few I know have full on gaming rigs. Who did they design this for? I'm all for competition, but this? No thanks.
The minimum requirements are a bit too heavy for the majority of PC users.
In my experience it's mostly full of bots masquerading as real riders. You aren't going to goad anyone into a game of cat and mouse, like you can on Zwift.
Decided to download on my IPad based on this review. Download requires 2.75Gb of storage. Zwift is 34Mb. Didn’t bother.
I quit Zwift after 4years! My Whoosh,ROUVY,Fulgaz…. where i go now, more affordable in the long run.😉
The graphics on zwift is poor. This one looks good.
