My medium Capra has also a really low cut on the steerer tube and having long and big hands for my height, it's a bit of an issue. But it certainly rips.

    • @diejeekoen
      @diejeekoen 4 роки тому +1

Yeah I had Issues with YT too becaues of the short steerer tube. It is ridicilous they cut the steerer tube but let the brake hoses and deraillieur and dropper cabel far to long. You are also supposed too shorten you handelbars yourself, if you wish so why not the steerer tube? They did not want to change my forks although I had not riden my new jeffsy bike untill then. Then I decided to give it a trie and it appeared to be alright. But I rather had tried it with a longer steerer tube before.

I’m actually 5’6- 5’7 and have a large YT Capra (2019) and although I’m short, the large size fits me perfectly especially for the jumps/ downhill stuff. I was shocked as I was always told to go for a small/ medium, so stayed away from the large bikes but I can actually throw it around a lot on the trails. I think YT Capras are actually quite small so probably best to go for a size up to what you actually are. I was looking for a medium size MTB but a medium Capra would have definitely been too small for what I wanted

I bought a top of the line 2016 Capra (27.5) and although it was out of stock and took its sweet time getting to me, it's an awesome bike. I have emailed their customer support for many reasons, even if I didn't specifically have an issue. They're always helpful and willing to give their advice if that's what you're after. On the warrantee side of things, as a YT owner, I recently had a Shimano shifter fall apart on me. I emailed YT and they had a new one in the mail within 30 minutes! They even paid for expedited 2 day shipping. This is pretty impressive. Unfortunately then fed ex accepted the package and then took 8 days to actually deliver it. Ive also previously contacted them about a few other odds and ends and never waited more than 2-3 hours for an email response.

I got a YT Jeffsy in 2017. The bike is great and better than everything else I tried in my pre-purchase research. I had a Capra before that and got the Jeffsy because I wanted a more trail oriented bike.
The dropper was unreliable and I used the warranty. YT said they would send it to Raceface for repair. After 2 months, YT sent me a completely new dropper, being the different model they have used on their 2018 bikes. This is a great improvement.
So I would say their attitude was great and I got a good result. It took a long time to resolve. Luckily for me I have a spare dropper from my other bike. I am not sure though that any other supplier would have been quicker in the end dealing with a dropper that needed a new replacement. I could have got the thing repaired but still had problems and had that whole cycle of failed attempts to repair. It took longer but the outcome was decisive.

I have a 2018 Capra pro race 27.5 and its a speed tool but when I got it I converted to sram 12 speed race face carbon bars and 33mm stem as I ride in a tight forest trails with lots off trees so need it to change direction fast. I run maxis DHF and Schwalbe rock razor for speed and also the soft compound E*thirteen front and its good and came on the bike. BB was changed for Hope 30mm bearing and I got race face pedals and there good and have just replaced all the bearing 2 months ago as I ride a lot. The e*thirteen carbon rear wheel is crap and on my 25th spoke and warrianty has been crap as I live in N/Ireland so if I send the rear wheel to germany to get it checked. Yea! Right. I would never buy E*thirteen carbon wheels and am on my second set off wheel bearings. The Sram code brakes are fantastic, the SDG saddle wore out so replaced with a 2 year old Gobi and its still going. The forks have been converted to Vorsprung coil conversion with 50ib springs and are superb and will never go back to air as night and day better feel. I am running a DHX2 rear shock with a 470ib spring which is a lot better. Will I buy another no as I emailed E*Thirteen about spoke tension so set all the spokes correct spec but as for help from Zee Germans has been poor its luck I am a engineer with lots off motox experience so can repair things myself. The pain finish is poor and I covered with clear protection and the rubber gromets on the cables are crap so I super glued the in place.I run soft Renthal glue on grips from my past racing as the lock on grips are crap. I have never run sram discs as I run floating shiminao as they never fade and cool fast, and only run Sram sintered pads as they have great feel wet or dry. I run 0.3mm spacers behind the pads as I like my brakes to trail brake with one finger with out locking up and can adjust the free play.

20 years as a shop mechanic, I always recommend buying a derailleur hanger with every new bike. Sometimes manufacturers change hangers within a model year, sometimes they use the same one for several years. You never know. It's never easier to get/backorder one than when the bike is new. You'll have it when you need it, and won't have to wait to get back on the trail.

I had a '17 Jeffsy 29 for two seasons. Loved the bike, it was truly awesome. A little small for my tallness so I like how they added an XXL for 2019. But...the Canadian customer support just isn't there. The BC rep is a great guy and will sort you out when he has time. But he's overwhelmed. Has zero staff support, and it takes weeks to get things started. I don't blame him at all, I feel it is a decision from higher up at YT and overall is disappointing that such great bikes aren't supported as well as they could be. I also had some issues with bike shops not wanting to service or assist with warranty (even if I paid them for the time/shipping/labour/etc). At the end of the day, I just wanted to ride my bike and found it odd that a shop wouldn't fix my bike just because of how I bought it.

A good shop will fix your bike no matter where you bought it. It's strange they'd turn down work. Yes, the Canadian support it what worries me, he needs help.

@@VanCan Agreed. It was an odd situation because I had brake issues and couldn't get an answer from YT as to what to do. So I asked a shop to fix it. They tried, but they installed the wrong part and couldn't get things back together or something, and just left me hanging and said I had to go through YT. I tried to take them to another shop and they wouldn't touch them because they were already worked on by another shop and the warranty process was already "started" by YT (ie. I had emailed them several weeks prior and had no response yet). Frustrating to say the least. I ended up buying new brakes and didn't have my warrantied ones back for 7 months.

I've purchased 2 YT's over the last year and have had to deal with warranty issues both times.
My Tues came with SRAM Guide brakes that had the issue with not returning fully. YT had me have the LBS replace them (they used their parts and warrantied through SRAM). For whatever reason the LBS said SRAM wouldn't pay for labor, so it cost me $80. YT send me a check for the amount after I sent them the receipt. Took about a week for me to get the check.
My other issue was brake related as well. My '19 Capra came with Code brakes and the front brake felt like it had no fluid in them -- no lever resistance at all. The box had no fluid, so it wasn't a leak... YT immediately sent me a new on, which I received in 2 days (pre-bled lever/cable/caliper). I installed it, put the parts in the box the new parts came in, and shipped them back using a pre-paid label they supplied. Easy Peasy.
My experience with their warranty has been more than satisfactory.

I demoed a Capra CF Pro a few weeks ago. They came to my local area, so I got to ride it on my local trails. I hate the e13 dropper, but they said they will not be using it anymore. The bike was very fun on the downhills. Very maneuverable and playful. The negative is the climbing. Probably one of the worst climbing long travel bikes I've tried. They do have good prices, though. The other direct to buyer bike I've tried is the Canyon Torque. Very nice bike.👍

First year of ownership with my 2018 YT Jeffsy 27 CF... it’s been a nightmare. Have had rear derailleur issues right out of the box. Had my trusted LBS adjust it (who would package the bike you just got back up for a derailleur adjustment??). 2nd trail ride my rear derailleur gets sucked into my rear spoke and rips the derailleur hangar out of socket stripping the carbon fiber framing around the 90deg joint. Completely destroyed my derailleur and chain. Good news is YT was good to send me a new derailleur, hangar, and seat stay!! Bad news, it took months to get the parts. Season has ended. I had to pay the cost of repair. Get it fixed and guess what. Exact same issue of gears slipping and catching as it had out of the box. I’m in contact with YT and am told that I need to send my bike in for inspection. I’m assuming I will incur shipping charges on top of this. I completely understand from their side that this is necessary. However even with the good customer service, if purchased from a LBS, this would not be as difficult or frustrating. Just my experience thus far. Will see what happens with shipping the bike back, unless LBS can diagnose and fix it for cheaper. Don’t get me wrong, the bike is sweet. Feels and rides great just the derailleur issue is ruing the enjoyment of ownership.
    UPDATE
YT is covering cost of shipping so that’s awesome. We will see what the problem is with the bike.

A friend of mine told us about YT so we decided to try the Jeffsy for my girlfriend, we purchased it this summer. If you're planing on buying a bike from them beware. They're having a major breakdown in their supply chain and it seems like their customer service department is on fire. What was supposed to be less than one month wait for shipping ended up being 3 months (and still not arrived, I wonder if we will ever get the bike). Had I not known YT from a friend, I would start to think they are a scam. Almost no answers to emails, and when they do, it's only lies. First reply they said the bike was waiting at the port in my country, second reply (after some harassment) they confessed the bike had not left asia. Everytime they tell you it's closer and give you fake dates. At first you have to wait 1-2 weeks for replies, then it's just no answers at all. And don't fool yourself thinking you can speak to someone on the phone. Of course I'd be happy to receive a bike quickly, but what's more important to me is not being given bullshit. I wouldn't be pissed if they just told me "look the bike will be delayed at least 3 months". My whole experience with their customer service has been being given bullshit.

@@chadson5244 We eventually received the bike! It was painful but at least it got here. At first glance, everything seems fine (only time will tell us if quality is OK tho). Only visible problem is the chainstay protector is not properly glued and is peeling away a bit. Something I've seen on other bike, just needs to reglue with quality glue.
Go check on Jeffsy's website on your account. We assumed we would receive notification emails concerning updates for the bike but turns out they don't bother. We eventually found a tracking number on the account. (They provide a tracking number for the last journey from the YT facility in your country to your house, well at least that's what they do in Canada). That's not much, but at least for the last 5-6 days we had proof the bike was in our country and coming our way!
Hang tight! I don't know if it's ptsd, but we already erased that annoying part from our memory and are enjoying the bike for the last days of the season.

In September 2017, I bought a year - old , Jeffsy 29er Carbon Pro which the owner had cherished like it was his child ! He had spent approximately £4000 (€ 4300) on it and then upgraded to the tune of another £600 ( including a Fox Kashima dropper, Hope floating rotors , Decent Hope Flatties , a chain retainer , and YTs own water bottle and holder , as well as having it ' Invisi- Frame ' protected ). Only the pedals and a few marks on the carbon hoops gave away that it wasn' t brand new . And I got it for an AMAZING £2600! I drove about 200 miles away to collect it and virtually snatched the guys hand off !

Do you find the 'cockpit' a bit short on your Capra? I find this on my large frame Jeffsy ( it's about 40mm shorter than my old 26 inch- wheeled , Large, Spec Enduro, which is surprising). Fortunately , I know on some of the 2019 Jeffsy frames , they have adressed this with a 35 mm lengthening .
