Huh that’s funny - I wouldn’t have thought the DH casing to be more supple than the DD, I suppose because of the stiffer sidewall you can afford to run less pressure? Thanks for the vid! Good info here 😁
A Kona hardtail was my first real mtb back in '98, and I've been a fan ever since. I like how you went the upgrade route. Side note: your camera angle is a little low. I found myself continually trying to look up (unsuccessfully). :)
Hey Shane, awesome video! I'm also riding a Process 153. Did you als raise the travel from 160mm to 170 or even more? I would also like to install a 38 or a ZEB and I was wondering if it would hurt to go to 170mm. :) Thanks man!
what's up Vince! i ordered a 160mm 38. then added a 170mm shaft. it's not a problem, that 10mm sits in the sag anyway. just a bit more plush, very small. if you have the choice, 170mm won't hurt and the 160mm felt just as good.
I have a process 153 and was thinking of upgrading my yari airshaft to 180mm for a budget upgrade before the zeb at 170mm later. Would 180mm be too much?
I’ve got a ‘21 PROCESS X which I love. It’s a FOX PERFORMANCE 38, is it with upgrading to the GRIP 2 Damper? Also, I’m debating throwing an X2 or DHX2 on the rear as the DPX2 is lacking. What made you go with the coil over the X2? I’m also 185, so good to know about the 475lb coil. What mount and size is required for the KONA? Frame is large.
205x60 eye to eye. i’m usually not one to recommend a coil but dang it’s a beast and just eats brake bumps and chatter unbelievably. my biggest take away with air vs coil is the stroke feels the same through the entire travel. where with an air shock there’s always a bit of ramp at the end. it feels bottomless 🙌🏻 the Process progressive suspension plays well with a linear coil. if your riding trail at higher trail speeds, a coil will wake up and beast mode. anything less and it may feel a little slog.
@@PantherBlackAudiRS i like the Grip damper for trail riding. it has its limits at higher speed harder hits. i’d start with the rear suspension and if you’re still thinking about it the Grip2 damper it’s about $500 to have swapped out!
@@ShaneScrimager that’s what I was thinking! I think I’ll keep my DPX2 for trail riding and change out to the DHX2 for downhill. Like you, I wanted a “one bike killer”. I like the fact that the DHX2 has a climb lever, I suspect I’ll just keep it on even for trail riding.
Sick rig! You were ripping down that run 🤙🏼
woot!!! lost 1st place by 3 seconds!!! but i’ll take the close time and call it good racing 🙌🏻

thank you! yeah, i wouldn’t have guessed. both DD and DH were maxx grip too.

love it! sorry about the camera angle, it’s my trail set up and i was leaning way back on that run. noted for downhill footage! 🤙🏻

@@ShaneScrimager Awesome! Thank you for taking the time to reply! More plush is always welcome, hehe. Ride on!

i have the Zeb 170mm coming this week. i loved my 170 Yari on my 2017 Enduro. if it’s a 10mm jump, not worth it
Kona’n the Dust’royer is a beast!
