So I've seen alotnof ppl bottoming out on the stock parts? I'm legit about to go pick 1 up comp alloy. But I see alot of ppl having this issue. Is it even worth getting it? Ifs on clearout rn for 2k cdn!!! Retails for 4k other direct competition for the price is the kona process 134. Also 2k rn
i couldn't get the stock DPS to work for me. threw a RockShox Deluxe Ultimate so i could get more air pressure at 30% sag. i'm 100% happy with the link. big improvement in feel and tracking, small improvement in bottom out. didn't completely remove the possibility but if i bottom out now - it was a big drop or big jump!
have a video on the Comp upgrades too! let me know if it helps.
Nice! I was debating whether to pull the trigger on the Enduro since I already have the Stumpy EVO. Specialized had a Black Friday sale, and I got the Comp for $2,699, which is amazing! I’ll compare it with my EVO and stick with the winner. I understand it might be overkill for my local trails, but I’ve been riding mostly jumps and tackling some steep terrain in the mountains. I have a RockShox coil shock, and it came with a 550lb spring by default. I weigh around 245lbs with gear, and even a 650lb spring might not be enough for me. Could you recommend where I can find higher spring rates? I also came across some info about cracking head tubes, and people recommend replacing the stock headset with a Chris King or Wolf Tooth. Is that necessary, or can I just ride the stock headset and not worry about it?
@@nikitaiarygin good morning! i have the regular stumpy with Cascade Link and more travel, similar to the EVO. i did get a 2024 Enduro Expert (all black!!!) with Zeb and coil. the Stumpy feels faster, more playful, alive. the Enduro, bulldozer on the flow trails here. but, same time on Strava. look at Lost Co. for a higher rate spring, look at different companies if you can’t find a RockShox spring at your rate. i think the 650 would do though. i’m 200lbs running a 550. sag is 30% and feels perfect.
@ thanks for the info! Yeah, heard a lot of feedback that evo is more playful comparing to enduro. Anyways, I need to compare it by myself :) I will try with 650! Thanks!
@@ShaneScrimager Switch to Mullet..I did and I like it a lot.
My emtb came with assegai front and dissector rear. Quite the grippy setup.
i've noticed a few companies running these off the sales floor. excited to see it!!!
Very useful thanks.
@@mandelmon1 thanks! went ahead and purchased the 2024 Enduro. just that much better!
Hi Shane nice video! can you paint it?
Hero dirt looks amazing!
I was told 500 or 550x2.80 fox spring for the dhx2 on the enduro. My weight is 180 is that totally incorrect?
that sounds a little heavy. i'm 190 and running a 475# SLS spring. SLS needs to go about 50lbs heaver since it's a lighter spring than stock Fox springs. i run a 550 RockShok spring, but a 550 Fox SLS would be waaaaay too much. have you used the Fox spring calculator?
Really dig these videos! The Woods, a trail that's been around forever. I first rode the Woods in 1997 on a specialized Rockhopper with DH tires, then rented a Schwinn 4 banger there in 1999. Fell in love with full suspension and bought a Santa Cruz Bullit as soon as I got home! Best decision ever for my beat up carcass Northstar was handing me. Haven't been there since 2000. The Woods was so much different back then. It was rated a black diamond trail.
same experience in 2011 for me! moved up from Santa Barbara and got me rear handed to me on my Trek Fuel... buying a downhill bike opened my entire biking experience wide open. love Northstar and buying the season pass each year is a big day around here!
@@ShaneScrimager I'm originally from Marysville so my stomping grounds include Grass Valley/ Nevada City. These videos do make me want to go back. Greetings from Roswell/Ruidoso New Mexico ( thank God Ruidoso has IMBA designed trails!)

C'mon. Those are little jumps--and there aren't even any gaps!

I’ve ridden Shimmer and Talon Show each many times, with TS being my favorite. I’ve been reluctant on hitting Permagrin because of the warning at the head of the trail. I am going to ride it this weekend as it doesn’t look as bad as I was making it out to be in my head.
morning Bryan, roll it 1st. get an idea of the gaps and drops. angles of the take off and landings. i rolled it 1st, picked a few jumps 2nd time and then sent it full speed. worked my way up and now it's the only trail i want to ride!
You dont need speed if you're got.gravity but if you dont habe gravity you need a fast tyre and these tyres are slow on the ups
agree, they are a bit much for normal trail riding. have an update video in the works for trail tires.
Yeah, tires for a “trail” bike should be good for the ups because trails go up and down. Keeping the tires light will help with climbing. The Assegai is too much tire for the way I ride. It’s a more gravity oriented tire.
I have a V1 but Santa Cruz is taking care of a frame replacement. Since the new on is now 63 degrees head tube. The Bronson is mullet and the high tower is the same. I race enduros but nothing crazy and the biggest drop I do is 2 to 3 feet. Will the high tower still be fine???? Thank you
Cory said most people should be riding the Hightower, it's plenty of bike.

Livewire has got some love!!!
Im in reno lets go ride bro
i'll be there Friday and Sunday! Sunday is race day!
Aloha, how does it compare to yt capra?🤙
i'll have to ask a friend who has one! mahalo!!!
Im currently running the new Forkaster evo F/R on my full sus trail bike as they are what came stock on my bike. They are super fast rolling but i have noticed a bit of slippage on rocky sections here on the trails in northern California. I still haven't ridden them in the rain on muddy conditions but what I've read they are supposed to hadle quite good in muddy terrain. Also i just purchased two dissectors 1-DD MaxxTerra, 2-DD MaxxGripp along with a DHRll DD MaxxTerra. I plan on running the DHRll on the Front and the dissector on the rear lol the reason i chose the DHRll was because spec wise on maxxis website it has slightly better cornering control and better braking traction compared to the DHF. The reasons i went with the DD version was for the better puncture resistance and a better peace of mind knowing i can hit any line and not worry about my tires puncturing/tearing especially on the rocky sections of the trails as i tend to ride my bike to the trails from my house.
you'll be happy with the jump in grip and cornering. hopefully happy enough with this over the rolling speed. you may feel you have to keep the bike up to speed / put in a few pedals in the beginning. i still think you'll benefit from the confidence and grip!
Old video, but you said it doesnt have a flip chip. You do have a flip chip you can see it on the horst link at 3:07

Is the 2022 Enduro frame the same as the 2023 enduro frame?
I ask because I'm wondering if the Rockshox Flightattendant upgrade kit will fit a 2023 Enduro. The flight attendant info says it's only for a 2020-2022 Enduro, but if the frame hasn't changed, I don't see why it won't fit.
i do think they update the rear triangle. they went from a 44 offset fork to 41? for 2023. you can look up past bikes on the specialized website
Is that a offical TDS shaker.? LOL nice
🤣🤣🤣
I just took deliver of my ‘23 Comp. The spec compared to the original comp is night & day. I’ve got full GX, Zeb & coil. But the best bit. I paid £2200!!
BOOM!!! happy new bike day. i'm looking at the 2024 now. i did get a 2023 Expert build last year. review soon
@@ShaneScrimager that wasn't really a decision for me, at this price it was an opportunity. No way I'd stretch to £5-6k and not massively fussed about UHD. This thing is so perfect for me, ok I have to put a few cranks in when riding with mates on trail bikes, but Im always waiting at the bottom for them.
Did they fix the cracking issue with the frame.?
years ago!
Probably over a year on this thread but wanted to ask if an enduro would be good for overall trail riding, live in Michigan and there’s some enduro trails but not too close to the Detroit area. With the prices right now I was considering the enduro which probably is going to be updated soon but if I can ride it on regular trails I would definitely be interested.
hello! if i had to choose between my Stumpjumper and Enduro, i'd choose the Enduro. but... that is type of riding i do, fast / big hits / reeeeeeally pushing myself on the bike. the Stumpy has it's limits but really can handle so much. i don't ride certain trails on the Enduro, just feels slow. but i have mine set up for downhill. if you were to buy an Enduro for your trails, i'd say get the Super Deluxe in the rear and not coil. it'll make the bike a bit more lively on the trails but still be able to press in to some chunkier / faster riding.
Hey really great long term review video - helps heaps, what grips do you recommend for the stumpy comp alloy?
i like a bigger grip, no flex just a bigger circumference. i run Lizard Skins Logo Lock-On Grip on all my bikes.
Where are these table top jumps?

I found Shane Scrimager! Lol. I just started MTB Oct '23 and my buddies just showed me this. I live in FH now and ride that stuff all the time, but Nevada city Hoot, Talon and Shimmer were a blast! Next level. You handle those courses fast and smooth bud. I've got a lot of learning to do! Those drops on Shimmer are awesome and I wonder if I'll ever take them instead of going around. Beyond the tape! Too bad about the weather this weekend but we got a whole summer ahead to rip down this trail! I like that this one has some longer sections between the berms.
finally took the tape down! i almost blasted through it, they had it up between runs.
Lets go!, Finally some fresh stuff! Stumpy still alive?
alive and well!!! i’ve been riding the Enduro a bit more. Perma and Shimmer feel a little more planted on the Enduro over the quick and snappy Stumpy 🤙🏻
I was considering the Enduro too but i bought an 2022 Evo pro frame, with standard levo sl equipment, basically 36 rythm and float x, everything new, it was a good deal! I just installed the mullet link and already can tell, the evo is a little more stable than my stumpy, ive been enjoying so far, but i need to get used to her 😎 but still i think enduro is more of a bike! @@ShaneScrimager
I ride park, natural DH and loose rocky enduro trails, and natural trail in SoCal. From your surrounding it looks like you’re in SoCal as well. My Intense Carbine came with DHF/DHR and I feel it is very slow rolling compared to other tires I’ve used when it comes to natural or aggressive trail. My honest opinion, it has top notch puncture resistance, grip and durability on the other conditions I ride. Ultimately, I’m looking for a do it all tire that has speed, grip, puncture resistance, durability, and longevity. I’m sorta interested in running the “Assi” front and rear, but hear its even slower rolling and don’t want to blow cash on tires that will not produce what I expect of them. There seems to be quite a bit of indifference on what works here in SoCal as combo setup. Even here in your comments I see it as well. I’m very familiar with the Specialized tires and have had good results but as of lately they have gone the way of offering a gaggle of tires adding to the confusion. Then you have Continental, Schwbi, and Michelin that offer good comparable tires for the money. Like’d and Sub’d!
Jackson, appreciate the response. well said. i started running Tannus inserts and have completely changed the game. low pressure crazyness.
@ShaneScrimager I have considered inserts, but the additional rolling weight is my concern. To combat the additional weight, I would need to run CF rims. Unfortunately, it is something I am not fond of nor care to waste money on.
Great video, where is that where you ride ? It looks crazy good 👍
private property here in Grass Valley CA!
Hi Shane, after some months with the stumpy comp alloy, with pike ultimate at 150 on the front...i'm at the point to look at the cascade link. Because with stock link and oem fox dps, i need to bump like 20 psi MORE than recommended PLUS a bigger token 0.8 instead stock 0.6. I got the bottom out resistance, but i lost small bump sens ( i feel the stiffnes of rear end on the rocky terrain) . i'm at 73kg with gear and at 200/210 psi instead 185 recommended from specy. So i'm here to ask: do you really suggest the cascade link? your is the only review on youtube with the stumpy. so i'm asking you becasue it's a bit pricy... like with 50/100 more bucks i can get a new RS super deluxe... but maybe only the cc link, can give me a better result even with stock dps.... any advice? thanks a lot
hi Andrea! i would go with the Super Deluxe. i swapped to a Deluxe Ultimate before i put the Cascade Link on. the Cascade Link only sweetened the setup. rear shock 1st, then if you need that little bit more Cascade Link.
@@ShaneScrimager thanks for your answer, I will think about it. I don’t cancel the idea of the link because i read everywhere only good word about it, and maybe even with new shock, the stumpy can still remain too linear and blow through travel… btw I’m looking forward for more of your video!! Keep rocking man 💪🏻💪🏻👍
@@ShaneScrimager to conclude, after some months and riding, i've switch to a super deluxe ultimate on my stumpy and it's another wolrd beside stock DPS. BUT i'm still looking for the cascade link, because i'm very curious about it!!! I just asking myself if it's still a big improvement, even if i have a top shock with lsc and hsc to play with. I mean, the benefit of cascade link, goes beyond the "self tuning" with lsc/hsc or with the knobs, i can get same "cascade link" feeling? (most interested on compliance on rocky terrain) have nice ride!
@@XqDezzy10 yer still at 130mm! it’ll take you to 140, that much more bump compliance and bottom out. if you’re not pushing your stumpy to its end, clapping, there’s no need.
having a hard time choosing between the stunt jumper evo and the enduro. I want a bike that can do it all bike parks ect so I will be defending more then going up the mountain but I want a bike that climbs well and I want to go either specialised stunt jumper evo or enduro any ideas or tips to choose?
i’d choose the Enduro but that because i ride downhill courses and super chunk. the EVO could handle it but not as fast as the Enduro. your decision should be how gnarly terrain will you ride and how fast do you think you’ll want to ride it. both pedal well enough. the Enduro with a coil is heavy, air a bit lighter. i don’t see EVO’s on the runs we ride, only enduros of all sorts. an occasional EVO here and there.
Will this work on a carbon stumpjumper frame?
hey Josh, i haven’t seen one for the carbon. cascadecomponents.bike/collections/specialized-linkages

@ShaneScrimager I went last weekend, it went good. Got a video of it up now. Man my handlebars are just chattering so much, I either gotta play with different air pressures in my fork or get something else. It's just a rockshox gold rl 35 on a trek roscoe hardtail. I gotta smooth out my whole situation (but stay on a hardtail).
@@Channel-io1di air pressure and more rebound, assuming your at 20-25% sag
@ShaneScrimager you mean increase rebound damping or increase rebound speed? I lowered my air pressure a bit and sped up the rebound a couple clicks and it's a lot smoother on local, easy trails but will probably bottom out on a downhill run.
Just got back from Mammoth, super tacky conditions despite all the snow damage and closures. I found even with the 29” wheels and long travel, it’ll pump for extra speed no problem. Works great everywhere I used to take my Wreckoning, just more attack-focused and less playful. I’d love to go coil but between the leverage ratio and my kitted up weight at ~240 lbs it seems like there aren’t many springs up to the task.
Rock Shox or Fox rear coil? we could find a coil, would just take some digging.
I am considering moving on from my Elsworth Moment (it's a 2005 model) to a new Specialized sometime in the Spring of 2024. The trails in my area are not super hard (Eastern Virginia area) but they are challenging enough for me. I thought about the Chisel, but my heavy 61 year old body thinks a Full Suspension would be better. Still on the fence about a Stump jumper of Epic EVO. Looking for a single bike.
I would say Stumpjumper. Epic EVO is an amazing bike but I feel more race / business oriented over the all around character of the Stumpy. I was just talking about this the other day, the Stumpy is ready for anything where other models have a bit more purposed feel.
Fucking NO justice at all. This is like 12feet people who don't know😜
Sorry to bother you I have the onyx blue and I wanted to ride wrap but I need to know the model which model is this is an expert?
ah, Expert are the components. you need to know what size - S3, S4, S5 etc
Agreed.
Hi Shane I was at Northstar in July for 5 days. Two runs down live wire on a friends Enduro and I was sold. My Enduro expert arrives this week. I must say the chop before some of the live wire jumps was next level. My bike comes with the Float X2, but I am thinking about getting the DHX2 coil. Is your coil shock custom tuned, or just off the shelf? Could you share your rebound and compression settings? One last question could you also share the rebound and compression settings on the fork ? Thanks for all the info in your video !
hey Geoffrey, that's a loaded question!!! you'll notice the small bump goodness of the coil. off the shelf, it's that good. i have variable settings for Northstar, 38 with 75 lbs pressure and take a warm up lap in LSR 6 from fast / HSR 4 from fast / HSC 3 from slow / LSC 7 from slow. then either slow the rebound for Livewire or leave or slow the rebound for super chunky runs. every now and then i'll slow the compression if needed. on the DHX2 w/ 475# spring, it's the same - start from mid setting and 2 clicks faster rebound and 2 clicks slower compression. ride and feel
Thanks for the info, much appreciated !
