You make a fair point - there aren't many improvements at late levels but I think having the entire wizard spell list is a huge buff, that's the best thing a caster can have. The problem is that the core Rogue class has to wait until level 9, 13, and 17 to get their subclass features. By that point, a lot of campaigns may be over, so players miss out on those cool abilities. At least they get cunning strike and weapon mastery, that almost makes up for having to wait so long lmao
I always thougth that it was nice to be constricted to just pranking people with the spells, but I get that everybody wants to cast fireball even as a rogue :D
Needing to be Invisible for Magical Ambush instead of just hidden is terrible. Makes the power useless. Who's going to waste an action on casting Invisibility to set up Magical Ambush for one attempt?
They just need to have the invisible condition. Essentially not be visible to the enemy. The hide action provides the invisible condition to a rogue who uses it successfully. Nothing has really changed besides the wording for the magical ambush ability. It's still just as potent.

Sub-class capstone is still meh
