  • A watch with a Tourbillon complication is one that has the escapement and balance in a carriage that rotates a duration of time such as one minute (in this case). This is done to average out positional errors that come about with the watch being worn or held in different positions. Years ago these watches or the movements in the watches were difficult to make and were a measure of a watchmaker's skill. Pocket watches with a Tourbillon carriage were and still are very expensive. This version by Mobilis is likely one of the less costly types you can purchase. I would guess this watch dates to the 1920s-30s. A case maker made the Silver Niello case while Mobilis manufactured the movement.
