How is niello made? Niello, black metallic alloy of sulfur with silver, copper, or lead that is used to fill designs that have been engraved on the surface of a metal (usually silver) object. Niello is made by fusing together silver, copper, and lead and then mixing the molten alloy with sulfur. I guess you have to make this, I cannot find it anywhere to buy. Should not be too difficult to research exact formula then make it in a crucible with an oxygen torch.

It's made from silver, copper, sulfur and additive without lead for new niello.
