They take a long time to make Pedro, we just can’t do them all the time. We have quite a few filmed, once those are cleared off the hd we will try to do more longer ones in the new year. We could do with better equipment really. If you had to pick, what would you like to see? and is this the perfect length for you,or bit shorter, or even longer?
Dr marten have their own approved repairs so keep a monopoly on them. I told Paul who the main one was and it turns out that it’s the same company who Paul gets a lot of his soles off. So the proper dm units are in the same building, but they won’t sell them to us.
@ That’s an unexpected answer. You’d think Dr Martens would want their customers to have easy access to repairs, but I guess that despite their claim that the boots are Goodyear welted, they’d rather people threw them away and bought new ones.
They have a full website dedicated to repairs so don’t think they are hiding anything, it’s just that they want to keep it all to themselves, that’s business I guess. These are just as good but can only get one colour when there are 3 of the genuine ones and a different pattern.
I own a few pairs of Grant Stone boots (you can look them up). They're an American company but all their manufacturing is done in China using components from the USA and Europe. They are as well made as anything coming out of the Crockett and Jones factory and their construction materials are equivalent if not better with leather heel counters, thick leather insoles etc. Apart from China having average labour rates in many parts of the country that are not too far behind some parts of Europe, China will build the product that you specify. If you want cheap they'll build cheap but if you want high quality you can get high quality.
Couldn’t really answer but should be lasting life of sole. We never had a problem only thing he can think of is if it wasn’t at the right temp when applyed, as it needs to be warmed up
@shoehealer8853 thought as much & hasn’t lasted anywhere near the life of the sole, they’ll be in the bin before long & lesson learnt on the particular brand.
Antony is itching to do a diy repair video on them, but we haven’t worked out how we are going to do it yet. Wait for that and you might be able to fix it yourself.
@@shoehealer8853 I've already done a DIY repair on them not long after they were re-soled with an epoxy 2 part fast setting glue where the new sole was parting from the old scoured down one.
I know from a lot of Goodyear Welt purists on Reddit, they see Docs as basically throwaway stuff because despite being labled as GWY, apparently a lot of cobblers don't resole them or charge because of how the sole is still made. I think that may differ for some of the Made In England ones more than the others? Surely if they can put a leather welt and leather line these, they could find a way to do this on all their other boots.
We were surprised when looking on Reddit, all the people who owned docs who didn’t even know you could get them repaired at all. Dr Marten have a website dedicated to it, but I was telling someone else that they have their own approved repairer in Leeds and they don’t sell the original soles it’s a monopoly, that’s why we have to use the Solovair one. Maybe that’s why a lot of cobblers don’t want to do them? 🤔
Another quality repair. Better than when they came out of the factory 👍. Not all cobblers would go to so much trouble. All the best Pete
Thanks Pete 👍
Impressive result.
Traditional English craftsmanship.
Thanks for this video!
Finally a long video

Which glue do you use, please?
We always prime leather with Bostik 6092 then use Bostik PA 50-50e for the final plastic fix. Evo stick is very similar.
Thanks for watching 👍
@@shoehealer8853 we cant get this glue here its banned USA
A nice repair. I’m wondering about your choice of a Solovair sole unit. Is that because the quality is better than DM units?
