They look like the cafe burnished from the factory shop website that I've been looking at? I think you've made the right choice with the soles, the ones they are sold with don't look good!

they break up rather than peel off in one piece when you take them off. They really should use leather if they are even mildly expensive.

Probably but that was just an add on segment to a repair video, we used that Cheaney as it was the closest looking one we had in at the time to show what you could have for a bit more money.

Well, you do end up with the uppers very slightly overhanging the welt. But this happens with lots of shoes where the fit is tight......I will show this on a video because I think it's hard to describe. Thank you for your interest and input. Antony.

Hi Ant, yes I understand what you mean, however it is not very effective. To put into perspective, I am size 8 and H-wide, and having a few pairs of narrow (F-wide) and normal (E-wide) shoes where we tried stretching yet it proves not effective. If going say from a generous G fit to a H fit probably might work... thanks for your reply which is greatly appreciated!

Made in Spain..for the same price, i'd go with Loake all day long over this brand.

These are made in spain and usually anything from spain is just fashion quality but these are fantastic! they are made just like English shoes are from northampton and definitely stack up against their mid range shoes for half the price....Berwick shoes are amazing for the price. We know because we take them apart on a regular basis to repair them when they are worn down. £195 for a beautiful brogue shoe ! They use the same original dainite soles as Trickers,Barker's,Crockett and jones, and Joseph Cheaney. Unfortunately, Loake 1880 shoe and boot uppers are made in india and have compressed cardboard type heel stacks! Loake Bedale £310....far too much, in my opinion. And it's stamped Made in England.

It was £100 for the main repair, £15 for the backs to be re strengthend and a few pounds more for postage to send them back (they were well packaged too!)

They are my shoes, and I wear then on a daily basis and regularly walk from the office to the shops and back! They've lasted me over 6/7 years of daily use!

@@MrAtaylor84They will last even better if you had another pair to rotate😉 shoe trees in as soon as you take them off so they fully dry while wearing the other pair.

@@Yorkshiremadmick It's easy enough to replace the heel stack when you get them re-soled, though at extra cost. And I doubt very much that the cheaper Barker ranges have leather heel stacks nowadays so you'll have to pay a hundred quid more than the Loake 1880s for the privilege of having leather even though you can't tell the difference as a wearer. Also, as you saw in the video, one of the Barker's leather pieces tore when the heel stack was removed so it can still happen to leather (though less likely). Both brands also have a celastic (plastic) toe puff and non-leather (the material can vary) heel counter. If you're a purist and insist on leather throughout you can buy shoes with leather heel counters and even leather toe puffs though I suggest you start saving your pennies.

Hello big visk I'm UK size 9 and that's 27.5 cm on the brannok device...but with so many manufacturers, the sizing changes with the styles. 🙄
