Criminal that, losing the final section of footage🙈I was so looking forward to seeing how they turned out. I reckon it was that glass of wine that did it. Oh well, you’re getting there! 😂
Great video as always Anthony. I really do enjoy watching the process of Shoe repair. I googled this model of DM,and they retail at £180. So calculating labour & material these custom Doc Martens are pushing the £300 mark. Definitely not for the faint hearted.
Was thinking the same about cost. Wouldn’t it just be better to buy a pair of Chelsea boots with leather sole from Loake, Cheaney, Barker etc…? DM’s are all about the airware sole unit so, if you gonna change it to leather then sorry, I don’t get it. Am I missing something?
@@chrisp3330agreed it doesn't make much sense does it? Getting a non standard DM and then replacing the sole like this... If you clearly don't want a DM this much, then get yourself a better boot for the same money!
You are absolutely right, and I did have this conversation with the customer, but he was adamant that he loved the fit of these boots. Thanks for your input 👍
I used to swear by Dr Martens… until the soles wore down and the rubbish plastic coated leather cracked. However I do love the shape and the fit (the shoe version is best, I find the boots can be sloppy) and the undeniable comfort. Not a patch on Cheaney/Tricker’s/Loake. Brilliant video as always!
Seems a strange decision to add leather soles to a Doc Marten boot. Surely the whole point of buying a DM is for the air ware sole ? The uppers are not usually premium compared to what's available elsewhere and leather soles are usually added to dress boots rather than chunky boots like this. Anyway, they say the customer is always right....
You are so very right.....we are a working shop and sometimes when things get busy the subject shoes or boots just get collected by the customer before we have a chance to take finished pictures. You're not the first to mention this, but I promise we are trying. 😬
Please bring the boot in whoever you are so we can all see the finished job. They do such a great job of repairing and modifying shoes and boots as well as selling 1st class footwear.
Hello Joe, I really don't think it would be worth the effort, unless you really do love your Dm's the time it would take to hand stich a new welt on .....wow ! Thanks for your interest
Everything is doable, but unfortunately, we have lost two full-time repairers, and as much as i love doing these jobs, we are having to say no, not at the moment. The boots are iconic and must of had every conceivable conversion done. Antony
Absolutely no idea....My two daughters who love the occasional stint in the shop are busy with other things! We should offer the business up to the highest bidder. 🤣
Like the longer form video, and the workmanship as always.
Same.
I’m really enjoying these videos and agree the longer form is really nice. Really looking forward to a visit sometime soon.
Thank you Alex, we look forward to seeing you
Definitely would love to see the end result - Looks like they were transformed
I was really looking forward to seeing the end product!
Sorry 😢

Spot on again 👍

I can only think maybe they were a gift? Really bizarre decision making otherwise!
Who makes a video and doesn’t show the end result?

is there a connection between the glass of wine and the missing end of vid ? Just asking 😀
There are so many partial videos and shoes in various states of repair here at all times, sometimes they just get collected from under our nose 😂

Could the welt be replaced with a leather welt?

@@shoehealer8853 some do love them that much. Not me personally but I have seen some other UA-cam cobblers offering it to customers.

I don't see the point in buying this crap from other Martins
for 220-00 €
and then sew
new sole for another 180€
We only do as we are told. The customer knows best. 😟
