Thanks for this video...really learning a lot from your videos...what is good, i own also some of the variety that you have...its easy to follow...hope you do some bulbophyllum care or repot also...
Thanks a lot! Happy to be able to help. As to Bulbophyllum, unfortunately I do not grow them (I only got Bulb. grandiflorum recently but have no experience with them).
My pleasure! Thanks for tuning in. I have posted another video on the proper timing to start watering them after dormancy. You can find it on my channel but here is a direct link as well ua-cam.com/video/23wxzCaa11U/v-deo.html
No fertilizer when dormant or when growth is small and no watering. After that plenty of fertilizing during the growing season. Reduce drastically fertilizer when leaves turn yellow.
That clowesia is sooo kawaii (cute). I have a catasetumwith 1/8 inch of new growth, no visible roots yet. Another has a 1 inch new growth. Too late to repot?
As long as there are no roots, it is the perfect time to repot. Once the roots appear it becomes very urgent to repot because you can absolutely NOT damage the new roots and the longer they are, the more likely you are to damage them. I try to do it as soon as I see a new growth You seem to be doing fine! Good luck!
They should be kept moist the entire growing season and fertilized regularly. Once the leaves turn yellow, you can reduce watering in half and then stop when the leaves are all gone
I would cut off the top of the bulb BELOW the rot, spray peroxide on the wound and then sprinkle cinnamon powder on top of it. I have saved a few like that in the past. Hold off on watering too for a little while. Good luck!
It is indeed better. I tried not repotting several catasetums 2 years ago and I was not happy with the result. Fred Clarke says he only postpones repotting if he wants to try and get an award on a plant but else he repots them every year
Nice video sir
Thank you!

Gießen ist genügend

How do you manage rotts in cycnodes? I have a jumbo mickey and it started rotten in the middle _ (🤦🏽♀️)dnt wanna lose it!
I would cut off the top of the bulb BELOW the rot, spray peroxide on the wound and then sprinkle cinnamon powder on top of it. I have saved a few like that in the past. Hold off on watering too for a little while. Good luck!

I buy it from a local orchid supply store. It is New Zealand sphagnum moss which is the best quality
Do you need to repot every year?
