- I'm working on evolution simulation game The Sapling, my solo indie game project. It's a game where you can basically do two types of things: on the one hand, there are a number of scenarios tasking you to design an ecosystem that meets specific requirements, on the other there is a sandbox where you can build your own plants and animals, turn on 'random mutations', and see how they evolve.

I have a Update idea for you it’s called the: The Cavern and Maternity update. It would add things like:
•Caves
• Animals and Plants adapted for caves
• Live birth
• Litters and egg clusters
• Protective mothers
• Baby animals going on the mothers back
• Dens and more

As somebody who has been here from the very start it has been incredible to watch this game from something so simple and plain to a fully released, frequently updated and absolutely remarkable game which it is today

I like the way you present your game. You don't sound like a marketing, PR, statement from a company, but like a person. That's refreshing. I recently watched a video where someone was talking about upcoming titles in a genre and they just read the official statements of the companies, if someone would "beep out" the games names, I couldn't tell any of them apart, they are all the same meaningless marketing BS.
It's really refreshing to see a Dev talking about his game like a person with real passion for the project, taking more inspiration from David Attenborough than game commercials.

Seeing this game grow from start to now has been amazing. I'm really glad I stumbled onto it a few years ago.

Idea: We should have sails that go on top of the animal, used to regulate temperature like the dimetrodon
Idea 2: add a burrow nest type.
Also make a smaller size for animals.
Hey, the game does a primitive burrow nest, but perhaps you are referring to something more sophisticated. Without making promises, I like the dimetrodon sail as well, although I believe there is no consensus that it was used for thermoregulation

I’ve been wanting a game like this but with humans where they build civilization that’s would be god tier
Probably one of the best evolution games.
Maybe after polishment and bug fixes and optimization, but everything else truly makes it evolution game
I think it would be really cool to see the attributes of multiple parts combine to make new unobtainable through edit parts which make for really cool gameplays, though it would be hard. Think a beak + mandibles make a toothy beak or something along these lines

Finally a video! The New Trailer is Great however I have a suggestion not regarding the trailer. Once you get enough money from the game and see a steady income, I suggest you build a team. It is gonna be way easier with a team by your side. Of course it won't be big at the start, however anything will help you to faster develop the game and it's updates. Maybe you develop a system that allows much better animations and graphics but doesn't require much stronger PC Hardware than it already is required. Who knows?

I can't wait for the moment when another class of customized creatures will be added to the game - FUNGI. You can make separate mechanics for them, for example, placing them on the map not one at a time, but immediately highlighting the whole zone (simulating the mycelium zone). And the upper parts of fungi can only be visible next to plants in the same area. Well, fungi themselves can be poisonous or nutritious, useful for plants (mycorrhiza) or, conversely, be parasitic pests that weaken plants and make them less nutritious. You can also add customization of where fungi will grow specifically (for example, not only on plants, but also on old meat).

You could add sails, they will let animals float on the surfcase of the water and let them swim better. Also you could add crocodile like mouths which would provide really good time in water capabilities.

More natural disasters eg hurricanes.
Metamorphosis.

Icebergs.
Minifauna.
More creative reproductive methods eg budding.
Erosion.
Land formations.

YES! I love all the progress. You've been making a dream game of mine, what I always thought the game Spore could have been. I can't wait to see what you add next!
I have a few suggestions for stuff to add into the game
Trunks and saiga antlope noses: trunks are very interesting structures imo, and they can be used to grab food from high up places and from a distance. The saiga antlope has a giant nose that acts as a natrual heater and filter, warming up air and filtering dust as it goes up. I want this in the game mostly just because i think it looks funny.
Marsupial pouches: this is a part that must be added, because then all types of mammals would be ingame. This could also open the door to feautures such as hopping legs, multiple creatures spawning from one source, and a instinct that makes a mother drop their baby.
Trunks AND saiga noses are already in the game :). Without making promises, I like the idea of pouches too

When i first saw this game, it was what? one, two, maybe three years ago, and yet it's grown to such heights in such a short timespan! As the plants and critter evolve, so does the game.
This is amazing, and inspired me to buy the game!!
A cool idea would maybe being able to make underwater stuff like corals, anemone, etc!

Have you watched the episode of that one Netflix spec evo series where there's this giant high-gravity planet where one animal species basically became sky turtle? Would be cool if there was a way to select for exclusively flying animals. Also, a more controlled geography editor would be cool too. Also migratory paths.
