Patty Ajuria homelessness is not punishment. There is more issues to the homelessness then bad choices. USA is giving priorities to home illegal immigrants right now.

Well! It’s the American markets that’s giving priorities to illegal immigrants, not the USA. After all, they follow the most stable consumer and then government follow suit for fresh tax revenues. Seriously. Illegal immigrants pay more taxes than average US citizens, up to $2,000 more annually.

I remember in SF when it rained non stop for two weeks back in March 2017... I gave out those large plastic ponchos to various homeless in Castro. I remember one very young person, I got the impression they’d ran away from a homophobic town to SF, I bought them some food, sweet potato sticks from Walgreens, cuz they said they loved “crunchies”.

It killed me to watch that gentleman just drop everything on the sidewalk an just keep going because he had enough. So many are at a breaking point where they just give up trying. At least Dakota was trying to make the best of it all and smiling. I honestly think that this video was particularly needed because much to often we forget that it's not always sunny and warm in California. It does rain quite a bit. Showing homelessness from this perspective is eye opening to say the least. Great video Mark!

I see that happen a lot here in Eureka, California as well. I give some of my friends that are homeless many items, essentials like warm socks, coats, blankets, umbrellas, belts.. they always end up either losing them, throwing them, getting them stolen or like as in the video they get wet--so they just give them up. We are a lot colder than Venice up here on the north coast. Some nights it gets down to 31 degrees and below, and today we got pelted with rain, hail, thunder and lightening and wind gusts up to 40 mph. I'll be heading out in a few days to check on them. Stresses me to no end knowing that people are enduring this shit *(pardon my potty-mouth). We have a coupla shelters, but some of the friends I made are so mentally strained from being out there, that some can't even tie their own shoes or buckle the belt.

About 2 years ago I hitchhiked most of the way and bused the rest from my home in the east coast to LA. I went there hoping to find myself as an artist, and in hopes to change my life for the better. I got there and ended up homeless on Venice/ Santa Monica beach. It was not easy living out there. I was stuck there for a few months and fortunately found my way back home. I miss the beach and some of the people I met sometimes but I learned a lot and I’m happy to be home. The #1 thing I learned is you don’t have to go across the country to LA to find yourself as an artist or a person. Go within

Too much money goes to the military industrial complex, elected officials, government parties, etc. It's not their money they are spending and the greed grows and grows. Money needs to go to the government & military but it needs to be spent wisely. Stop the targeting & surveillance projects (NSA, CIA, FBI, DHLS, etc.) of U.S. citizens - what a waste of money!!! Instead, use the money for needed things like homelessness, education, free college for everyone, infrastructure - bridges, roads, etc. Unfortunately, man is depraved and will not see the heinous and unimaginable things that it is doing to our fellow man until it happens to themselves.

Most homeless move to the biggest most expensive cities like LA, San Fran, NYC, Seattle, Denver, Portland, Miami, Honolulu, San Diego and so on. These cities are expensive for a reason yet not everyone can make it. Everything is expensive like housing, food, groceries, transport, taxes. There is so many smaller cities and towns all over America where people can get cheap rent and basic jobs esp in growing small cities. Yet the homeless move to the most expensive cities. I doubt it is because there is more help because homeless in places like LA and San Fran have been homeless for decades. They could have had shelter and got out of homelessness in a small city quickly.

This was one of your best videos ever, Mark.
    You really are 'the preacher'.
Atm. I'm so fortunate to be allowed to sleep on a couch, so I'm not outside sleeping rough, but man, I remember how it is to try and motivate yourself to keep going, to keep trying to put a smile on your face and stay positive every time it rains. You said it in the video, "Everything gets wet", and that is so true. Everything single item in your backpack is wet, you are freezing, are hungry and demotivated and there are nowhere to go and get dry, nowhere to go and get a hug. Every night, before I fall asleep I think of my son and hope he's happy and then I send a prayer out into the universe - Let's end homelessness worldwide or at least let's get all of the children and their parents away from the streets. No one deserves to be homeless, but every child should have a fantastic childhood.

Why do you think the taxes are so high? I live in California and our taxes go on taking care of the homeless and illegal immigrants! But you have homeless flooding in from other states and illegals coming in from other countries. Overcrowding is an issue! Tax money is going on free phones, luxury condos, hypodermic needles, etc. Meanwhile, teachers are going on strike because they haven't had a raise in 30 years, there's potholes all over. California is literally taking from the working class and even they can't afford to live here anymore.

    • @saybanana
      @saybanana 5 років тому +3

There are millions of empty homes and really cheap rents all over America's small towns and cities. Yet all the homeless move to the most expensive cities where there is so much competition for housing and jobs. People working 2 jobs just to pay rent only to eat ramen noodles at the end of the day. While they can work part time in a small town and make rent and own a car, eat a meal at a restaurant and have money in the bank. The issue is not every can make it in a big city but yet everyone is moving to a big city and making it more expensive. Pushing money towards ending homelessness in major expensive cities is a waste. Homeless should be moved to small cities and towns like the midwest or rustbelt where everything is more affordable from rent, to groceries to taxes and food. Every year cities will like 100 people but 200 more come to replace them. Never ending cycle of poverty that makes no sense.

They say they're so used to being out there they can't live indoors. I have friends that refuse to find a place or a job because they feel too detached from society or they hate being competitive with the rest of the people making money in society.

Having the shirt ripped off my back thru taxation is an act of aggression.
They is not compassion in collective agency. You lose the interpersonal communion when agencies hand out benefits. With the distance of indifference keeps you "safe" from getting your hands soiled by those in need, you can justify the act of stealing the labor and production of others.

God bless all who are still out there

A client yesterday said ... why do they not go into shelter ..... Because Shelters do not protect them and the few belongings they have .... they get robed in shelters .... shelters are only open at night ............
There are organizations ....... that are giving them .... a voice ...... help ...... resources....... mental health resources ..... job opportunities .....BUT THEY ARE FEW ..... AND WE NEED A GLOBAL FORCE ..... to work together for changes ........
As AI grows and we have fewer jobs and resources ..... we need to start addressing this problem ......NOW

This is heart-breaking!!! I would really like to end homelessness, but this takes finances that i do not have!!!
Also, it seems as if the police bully these people by asking them to relocate their living areas every morning. If even this would stop, it would improve homelessness conditions. But arrogant wealthy people do not want these people in their way. Thus they ask the police to bully these people into moving every morning. If the economy turns to the greatest economic depression we have ever seen (which it seems to be going toward according to many economists), these wealthy people along with the police officers may be joining these people on the streets. They will have to abide by these same bullying tactics every morning and experience for themselves how horrid these living conditions are. Then they would change their actions'. But, it'll be too late for to do that.

How much money does the USA government spend on the military, CIA, incarceration?

Too much money goes to the military industrial complex, elected officials, government parties, etc. It's not their money they are spending and the greed grows and grows. Money needs to go to the government & military but it needs to be spent wisely. Stop the targeting & surveillance projects (NSA, CIA, FBI, DHLS, etc.) of U.S. citizens - what a waste of money!!! Instead, use the money for needed things like homelessness, education, free college for everyone, infrastructure - bridges, roads, etc. Unfortunately, man is depraved and will not see the heinous and unimaginable things that it is doing to our fellow man until it happens to themselves as it could happen to anyone.
