I've been wondering.. I thought I knew the reason why but have forgotten if I knew it or not if that makes any sense? haha.
I was wondering, why did NASCAR change the exhaust exit to the right side instead of the left? almost positive it used to be on the left side, also wondering why they changed the tone from the 90s- early 2000's (for example the 98 daytona 500 etc) the really high pitched tone. Excited for Daytona though! and don't get me wrong I still love how the cars sound now, the older high pitched sound was awesome too especially the loud hums at super speedways.

I think it had something to do with overheating.When it was on the left side, it was directly under the driver's seat, which could've contributed to the high temperatures in the car. I think they moved it to the right side that way it wouldn't be under the driver's seat.

I loved the gen 4 car too. It sucks they don't use them anymore.This article is from 2008. It talks about when they made the exhaust change for the COT.
