Can we all just appreciate how good Jr. was at plate racing. If he wasn’t involved in a crash or something he was always right there racing for the win.
@@brandonlugo425 Yeah that’s the only outlier of that time. But crashing out late and finishing 24th is pretty good considering the circumstances. He coulda crashed out early and been near last.
Biff was the anti Dale. For every right move Dale would make, Biffle made a bad one. He was in contention SO many years and always chose the wrong line on the last lap.
Seeing 2012 finish again just pissed me off again. Like come on this the Daytona 500 and you gonna sit there and not make an attempt to win. That was trash to me.
Whats so annoying about that, HD existed in the 80s. Just TV broadcasting and TVs failed to keep up. In 2002 we had a 32 inch Phillips flatscreen tube HD that supported 1080i and everything was still in piss ass 480x720 resolution for TV broadcasting.
2000 race was a snoozefest, a big humiliation of what racing at Daytona is supposed to show. 2001 even with Dale's crash is one of THE BEST 500's EVER, and this all just from looking at what kind of racing it gave to the fans.
Can we all appreciate in the 2010 final lap, turn 4 the skill it took for Gordon not to wreck the first time? Pretty much looking at the door of the car to his inside.
Man I miss Waltrip on the call and the old gen 4-6 cars. I hate the new ones. Ik Jr didn’t win 2010, but that was the most impressive final lap driving I’ve ever seen at Daytona, he went from like 10th to 2nd in 1 lap
@@arwyssi was a huge advocate for Danica being in NASCAR, but she needed to spend much more time in the Busch/Nationwide/Xfininty series if she really wanted to be more than a publicity driver. She never learned how to handle a stock car and thought she was better than she was
Gen 4 engines and racing was sooo good! Best drivers, and fans packing the stands. Commentary was awesome between NBC and Fox. Completely different time. Plus, no stupid stages.
Were fortunate enough to see the 500 ‘06-12, had gone down though since ‘03 to the Duels, Busch race, oh the memories. Almost half of these races we were there on the SuperStretch. 2007 was the most incredible finish, but JP Montoya’s jet dryer race was the *ODDEST* thing I’ve ever been a part of or witnessed.
Wards "SONOFABITCH! WE WON IT MAN!" Always makes me laugh 2011s I remember standing at the Houston Airport and I saw a Red and White car doing donuts, but I couldn't tell the number. I had forgotten that the 21 had reverted back to the Red and White, I thought the 32 of Terry Labonte, who was also red and white, won the race at first.
2003-2007 the gen 4 car 2008-2010 the change in cars 2011-current the quality of high definition TV and Daytona's asphalt replacement 2013 change of car Need i say more or missing?
2012 finish pissed me off so much,I remember watching it live back then mad as hell Biffle wanted to be a company man and fucking Hamlin couldn’t catch up to shake things up it’s like you could do shoulda coulda woulda for days but if Dale Jr had one more lap for ‘10,’12,& 13’ that would’ve been 4 wins in 5 years 🔥
this video is the perfect example of how inconsistent NASCAR is with yellow flags on the last lap. 2006 they throw the yellow flag and then 2007 a much bigger wreck and no yellow flag. Just crazy. Wow Biffle in 2012 didn't even try and make a move. I would be hot if I was a fan of his. It is the Daytona 500.
Them Gen 4s, man. What a glorious sound.
Back when you could legitimately pass with power.
Damn JR was always in the mix
Tony Stewart too!
Can we all just appreciate how good Jr. was at plate racing. If he wasn’t involved in a crash or something he was always right there racing for the win.
There were a few dudes like this, particularly McMurray, where they get to a plate track and absolutely rip
the penske guys were insane for a while too @@Jev6
Pretty much true with anyone - not in a crash, you're in the race!
Jr’s run from 2010-2015 is elite. 1 win, three 2nd place finishes and a 3rd.
Junior was insane at Daytona and Talladega in general.
That's 6 races not 5 as your total has
@@zacharyzimmerman6764 2011 he crashed outta the race

2007 with the skycam right there with the photo finish has to be one of the best finishes in all of nascar
I wish Fox still used that camera
first race i ever watched!
That camera angle at the finish should always be used!
That Martin Harvick finish was one of the best finishes.
can we just appreciate mike darrell and larry calling these races 🤧🤧
Greg Biffle was notorious for not making a move on the last lap at Daytona…
If he ditched his teammate in 12 he and Jr would've had quite the drag race at the end. But, instead he was a good teammate
And he never won a 500.
@@joekaput747 Can't really blame him for that one.

the jump in quality in 2010 is wild haha. HD TV really changed the game.
@@Odin3v that's interesting, never knew that.
In my opinion the Harvick finish in 2007 was one of the best. Five overtake in just one lap... In fact, the best finish ever of the Daytona 500
Denny Hamlin’s run from 2012 to 2021 was also crazy
Won 3 times
Top 5 5 times
And never finished below 20 in the other 2 years
That Newman wreck is still brutal to watch.
Newman brought it all on himself there. Since this new car debuted in 2022 it seems there’s less incidence of chopping off cars behind
4 years later and it still makes me sick
Conclusion: Mark Martin is the unluckiest guy in Cup history.
the amount of these that included Jr and Biffle at the front is kinda crazy
Jarrett’s car came SO CLOSE to taking off in the first one
That 07 finish represents everything that race is. A close finish and total carnage
2010 was one of the greatest 2nd place finishes of all time.
This is sad in a way because you see the crowds getting smaller each year after 2016.
I was about to say "Why doesnt it go back to 2000?" Then I realized, R.I.P. 1951 - 2001
2000 race was a snoozefest, a big humiliation of what racing at Daytona is supposed to show.

Dale Earnhardt was a horrible driver

Had Earnhardt Senior at Talladega vibes
Wild that FOX presented the race in their FOX Widescreen way back in 2005, not quite in HD yet, but still very impressive for the time.
Jimmie 2006 🎉🎉 Where my love for NASCAR came from!!!
I get goosebumps everytime I watch the 2007 finish. Man what a race
2003: And Waltrip gets to celebrate this one!
2005 Daytona 500 was one of the best races in the modern era
Jeff Gordon proving he was the man on those last 2 laps! I still can't believe he held em off
My hero JEFF GORDON 🦙🦙🏆🏆
It’s insane that Danica was in the top 3 at the white flag in 2013
If she moved down in front of the 88 when he was charging… she’d have either caused a wreck, or had a shot to win the Daytona 500

That 2020 finish still gets me everytime. I was there and it was scary because they were blocking off the wreck with covers. So everyone was terrified
As depressing as it is, but if not for Dale Earnhardt Sr.’s death in the 2001 500, Ryan Newman would have been killed in that 2020 wreck
I miss NASCAR On ESPN. It’s been awhile since I watched NASCAR.
I miss the sound of the cars from the 90s and early 2000s, todays Cars are to quiet
That sound is unlike anything man, its OP
Ryan Newman's 2020 crash still gives me the chills. I really thought he was dead, and I know I'm not the only one who thought that...
That 2010 call really shows how much darrell loves junior

Nice collection of replays over the years of Daytona
2007 onboard video of kevin harvick is insanse. what a win
Awesome video, Eli!
Mears needed to follow Newman in 2006. Can't imagine that Dodge was thrilled with his choice haha
Great vid 👍
2013 was a tough one
As a Jr. Fan it's bittersweet his runs in the 500,he should have won more than just 2.
True but his 2004 & 2014 wins were so dope

I'm a Dale Jr Stan but man, something about that 2010 finish is still crazy to watch. He may not have one, but what a way to pull himself to 2nd
Darrell put it best during the cooldown lap: "he looked like his daddy coming through there!"
I was so happy to see kurt win it in '17
If the rain and the battery issue doesn’t happen, I firmly believe Junior would’ve won in 2003. He was the best driver all of speed weeks that year.
Where'd Junebug come from. I was at that race. First time and an awesome experience. Jr was working that entire race
This video made me realize Hamlin was knocking on the door for YEARS i just really never noticed it back then
I just noticed Clint Bowyer unhooked his window net upside down in 07. It was already down when he flipped back over on his wheels 😆
2022 - Austin Cindric
2023 - Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
2024 - *WILLIAM BYRON*

2016 best finish to a daytona 500 ever
As a Kenneth fan, 09 and 12 are sweet, but god watching that 2016 win slip away on the final lap hurts.
This is the best reminder to keep Larry McReynolds and Darrell Waltrip OUT of the broadcast booth
Lol Danica Patrick
When Kurt Busch won the 2017 Daytona 500 , not only was it his first 500 win , it was his first restrictor plate win .
Jr randomly gets that second wind💀
Dale Earnhardt Jr. was so f((((kin good.
If NASCAR had thrown the yellow when Chase Elliott wrecked in 2020 on the final lap, Ryan Newman would've never been in that predicament
2020 was one of the best finishes to a 500, so was 2007 and 2016.

Sorry guys, my favorite NASCAR driver is Denny Hamlin.
the engine.
Crazy how many times they threw a caution when they’re 100 feet from the start finish line
Man every boomer complains about NASCAR not being what it used to be, but those finishes in the early 2000's had no drama lol
Happy Michael Waltrip got a victory he could actually enjoy for longer than 5 seconds.
Does anyone know what happened to Carl Edward and Jamie mcmurry

Tony Stewart really had the chance to win like 3 of these
