There should never be a situation in which the winner of a race is determined by an administrative decision such as: when the caution was initiated. It should always be settled by who gets to the line first
So if a huge accident were to occur just past the finish line but before Turn 1, would you still have the remaining drivers race back to the line? Now if it happens in Turn 4, that'd be a different story, because you have nearly the whole track to slow down. It's annoying when a race ends under caution, but to always race back to the line would create a big concern from a safety standpoint. Would you have certain exceptions to this rule?

Fantastic racing, different strategies, clean first half, wreck fest at the end, lot of lead changes, a surprise winner! One of the best 500 in the last couple of years, this season is off to a fantastic start.

NASCAR's should have let them race back to the checkered flag instead of determining who the winner would be by throwing that last caution. It was a good race with the worst finish in Daytona 500 history IMO. And I don't have a favorite driver, I simply like it better when we see the winner cross the finish line first. We didn't see this yesterday.

I was a Rusty Wallace fan. I know the Daytona 500 is in February. But I stopped watching it many years ago. The race popped up in my UA-cam page. Because I still Watch Old NASCAR Races on UA-cam.
They usually release an "extended highlights" video a little later. So no matter what happens, they keep the highlight video about 10 mins and then the extended highkights will be about 20+. mins.
Pastrana didn`t do too bad never racing a cup car.He would have made it in the top ten until getting wrecked on the last lap. Well, everyone was crashing from all the bump drafting, more like demo derby.

If you're talking about the final wreck that won Stenhouse the race, it's expected. this was the longest Daytona 500 race in history at 212 laps, and at that point it was the second over-time restart.
I'm a Larson fan. Have been since 2016, so I had a feeling that this was gonna happen because outside of 2021, Kyle Larson and us Larson fans can't get nice things. I blame toxic Chase Elliott fans.

It's pretty crazy slower teammates are allowed to intentionally slow down and wreck the field behind their other cars ahead of them to give them a better chance. Just how low is nascar gonna get? And still never fixed those cars? They still spin so easily and wreck everyone else with them.

@midblossomfilms it's still circuit racing so after 10 laps I'm watching guys do the same thing even if there's little twirls, don't see how as a standalone concept that's that much more interesting. F1 is basically 20 spread out individual time trials with little interaction between the drivers after the first lap or so. Oval is about racing other cars/drivers first and the track second which to me is much more interesting. Nascar is dumb and youre right about all that artificialness to it. not defending them just the concept of oval racing

Pastrana also raced a dirt modified at Volusia a couple weeks ago. He won the A- main his third night out.

They removed 2 chassis tubes in the rear so the back will crumple more
