90s NASCAR was an era of the sport when they had a restaurant and at one point the stands were packed to the anth degree. With an action packed New series with Trucks and surprising champions. Including many polarizing legends like Dale Earnhardt Jeff Gordon Dale Jarrett Ricky Rudd and we'll never forget about Davey Allison and Alan Kulwicki Kenny Irwin and Adam Petty. Also many of the sports most iconic moments we're in this decade like Dale Earnhardts Daytona triumph their foray into the land of the rising Sun The Dale and Dale Show among others. But also we bid farewell to the King Richard Petty ending one of the toughest eras of the sport. 90s NASCAR was lighting in a bottle for us fans.
Its called a changing world, no sport stays on top forever. And right now sports in general are all in trouble. Yes nascar needs to make some changes, but at the end of the day its just this generation.
Hey I'm a millenial who had interest throughout his upbringing. My interest however dropped once Jeff Gordon retired, and the change to stage racing only further gave me reason to stay away. In my opinion NASCAR is suffering because you have so many different entertainment options, because the icons of the sport like Gordon, Dale Jr, Tony Stewart have retired and NASCAR's constant format changes and gimmicks have hurt the sport overall. I feel like NASCAR's peak popularity in the late 90s early 00s fell because of the switch to the "Chase" format in 2004 & then the Recession didn't help it only augmented the issue. Over the last 3 years I started following IndyCar more often and frankly I think it's better. It's traditionally raced start to finish, the tracks have more variety, they race in the rain on weekends that aren't on ovals which creates a bit of strategy in choosing to go with rain tires or risk it and go with faster slicks. Plus the leads and positions change more often. The problem with NASCAR is so often it's the same 10 drivers leading the pack and the pack itself is rendered irrelevant. I feel like it only exists for tradition which is fine but also for sponsors.
Americans have luck in having the nascar such a great sport, I'm from portugal and I see almost all the races one day I have to go and see live... btw nice vid men congrats
Thanks! I meant to put the last race of North Wilkesboro and the opening of Las Vegas since they both happened in the 90's and it was another example of NASCAR going out West. Guess that's an idea for another video possibly lol
I remember the GM-10/88 Lumina of the early 90s with its slick bullet front end and that chrome grill! To me that is a racecar it made me proud that my dad had a 350 in our truck and that trucks still around today with an LS1
Great video. Glad you didn't do the sappy part so many others did at that part of the song where they went to Japan. Rocky top and ESPN both did that an I'm glad you didn't. This rivals the Richard petty video you did interms of my favorite from you
This decade in nascar was Triumphs and tragedies 1990 Rob Moroso,1991j.d. mcduffie ,1993 Alan kulwicki & Davey Allison, 1994 Neil bonnet & 1996 elmo Langley.
