Makes sense, having your entire neural system and sensory organs suddenly changed and replaced would probably create such a profound change in perspective, sensory input, and how the brain computes said input, that it would probably be similar to a major LSD trip until the brain got used to the changes.
Yes, I am certain one of the people involved in the production of the show said it, just don't remember who it was specifically. But yeah it's similar to an unfavorable LSD trip.
The moment I knew I'd love Tennat was when he put the Sycarax Invasion on hold so that he could play catch up with the people he hadn't seen for a while. (And unintentionally quotes the Lion King 😂)
Yeah, I wasn't worried about him as much as other people, but that scene really cemented him in the Doctor's role. With Matt it was probably a combination of his scene with the food, and the scene at the end when he claimed the Earth if off limits. An idk why, but I almost immediately fell in love with Peter's doctor, as well as Jodie's. I think at that point I was just over the whole "I'm worried, will we like them, I don't like them, wait I like them, okay I love them" cycle, so I just jump into loving them 😅
@@Mrazmatmahmood I've seen both. People have always been worried about all doctors, it's why I don't get all worked up when they said that Peter Capaldi is too old, or that Matt Smith is too young, or that the doctor shouldn't be a woman. It's within the nature of the show, literally behind every new doctor, there's a bunch of entitled fans screaming about how they don't like them. And then they start to like them, and then they have to go and the cycle just resets. It's annoying, really.
I feel like the 11th doctor had the most energetic regeneration after 10 because we were still sobbing after David Tennants last words and we needed something to cheer us up
the best part is thanks to the audio drama's 9 had a whole slew of adventures before meeting rose. so he wasnt high on regeneration sickness when he met her. which means he was completely in his right mind when he decided to blow up the signal controlling the autons. and also never bothered to find a mirror.
My theory is that when The Doctor is fresh off a regeneration, the regeneration energy basically gives him a sensory overload similar to that of someone with ADHD, so it takes the new body a while to get used to itself and calm down
I have ADHD and whenever I get busy at work and have to get a million things done in a timely matter, I totally bumble around like a freshly regenerated Doctor.
It's not just that. After a regeneration, the entire body rearranges itself. New brain connections, new height, new weight... The entire body must feel off balance and your mind is still adjusting to a new thought pattern. Honestly, I find it more insane that some timelords are able to walk it off as if it was nothing.
You know, with such a silly intro like that, I never would've guessed that the 12th Doctor would be a cold hearted person with the attitude of an angry cat and not above murdering people to death.
i love the idea that 12 was so much more confused and even amnesiac bc time lords are only biologically meant to have 12 regenerations (if we ignore timeless child, which is fine bc it obvs wasnt an idea yet during 12), but of course gallifrey granted the doctor more, “breaking the rules of regeneration”.
While it is true that the TC was defenetly not a thing back then, I would argue this doctor who: The show where anything is possible. I like to think that when the doctor proprely became the first doctor, timelords realized they didn't need the timeless child anymore. So not only they decide to regenerate the doctor into a child for one last time, but also change their DNA into a galifray one to bound him into the 12 regens rules (The watch having the doctor's pre-first doctor memories might also be a chamelion charm basecly). That way, the doctor would die naturaly without anyone ever knowing the truth. That's why 11 needed the new cycle. If my theory is right thought: Did the doctor has regain their original DNA when 11 got his new regen cycle or is he still bound to the 12 new cycles? Hell, if it's the first option, then it also explain why 12 was so lost: Because his has regain his original DNA. 🤔
Don’t like the 13th doctor just as a character writing etc (so don’t call me a sexist for not liking a girl character) but that is one of her great lines.
Just wanna say that Smith did the best performance in terms of post-regen (he also happens to be my favorite but I thought this before I decided that). But every line Smith delivers in the 11th Hour I can hear and see Tennant performing in the EXACT same mannerisms, inflections and tonality. This changed right around when he calls the aliens back but he did such a good job at portraying 10 in a new body and slowly fading.
Matt Smith has more talent than Peter Capaldi. Capaldi has more experience but he wasn't sure what to do with his Doctor for his entire first season. Smith picked one consistent personality and stuck to it while Capaldi was trying to cram in every Doctor at once, including the Valeyard. Unless you're an actor of Laurence Olivier's calibre, you're doomed to fail if you try to combine all 12 previous Doctors, the Valeyard AND a brand new Doctor into one coherent performance. Honestly, I doubt even Olivier could juggle 14 personalities without relying on a split personality disorder and even if he could, Capaldi isn't on his level so he shouldn't have even attempted it. Fortunately, Capaldi learned from his mistakes in Season 8 and became a more authentic Doctor in Season 9 because he focussed on what HE could bring to the table instead of trying to copy all the previous actors at once.
Shame the writers did everything wrong for here and her series, they played it safe with her character then tried to give us boring fucking history lessons, they're wrong if they think that's what people want

NiGHTS Moore you must have watched like 1 season of doctor who if she is your second favorite.... series 11-12 (the ones she stars in) are literally the worst imo and apparently other people agree because Doctor Who has lost millions of viewers since she started starring in Doctor Who...
@@BayHarborButcher2 I love 13 for the most part, I just hate the writing. I had to give up because I couldn't stand the shitty episodes anymore, which sucks because I love 13's feral chaotic energy
I think 11's intro is the best one. It really accomplishes so much by doing so little. Imo it's the best 'first episode' for a Doctor. Immediately sets up the companion character and backstory, his relationship with her, the problem of his arc to be solved (the cracks in time), and his personality in just ~10 minutes. The others were funny but didn't make me feel immediately attached like 11's.
My favourite post regeneration moment was where Matt was trying the food he chucks some food out and says “And Stay out” with a cat meowing in the background
I just love doctor who's concept of making the show go on by having the doctor regenerate. It such a powerful way. Look, some might not like one because they've grown up with the other doctors but we know they at least give everything to play the part. It's just that some episodes just have bad writing. I dont even think Jodie Whittaker is that bad. The stories are bad. Chris Eccleston was a great doctor too. Even though I grew up watching Matt Smith and he will always be my doctor but they were all good in their own ways. Matt was just the quirky young looking, old aged doctor and plays the childish side really well with great personality. Tennant was just incredible with some of his acting. Eccleston too. Capaldi was sceptical at first, but then his doctor was iconic things like breaking the wall. Jodie has played it quite well too but I haven't really seen much of her. Now we just have to wait who is gonna be the 14th doctor.
the only person who didn't flinch with high af regenerating Doctor was Amelia Pond. Weird screaming strange man demanding foods in the middle of the night? *rolled eyes *
You should definitely start watching the show, but I'll give you some context. The Doctor, being part of an alien race known as The Timelords, can cheat death (of sorts) via a process known as regeneration. When they are dying, they can access regeneration to heal their dying cells, but it doesn't come without a catch - literally every cell in their body needs to be rewritten, hence why The Doctor is played by different actors. It saves them from death, but The Doctor is pretty much completely remade: new personality, new tastebuds, new facial structure, possibly a new gender, it's pretty much a lottery as to what you might get in a regeneration. And as for The Doctor being 'high' of regeneration energy, it's literally been explained as going on a bad LSD trip before the brain gets used to the new body.
I just realized, there's something “I like the best” about each doctor. I'm unable to have a favorite. But, there's only one Rose. I loved how she fell in love with The Doctor.

Vader's disciple *_a bad one, yOu CoUlD sAy._*
I mean, remember when five regenerated into 6? That’s basically what it looked like
That's wild, last time I took acid I was certain I was experiencing a regeneration.

The moment I knew I'd love Tennat was when he put the Sycarax Invasion on hold so that he could play catch up with the people he hadn't seen for a while.
(And unintentionally quotes the Lion King 😂)
He did?
Yeah, I wasn't worried about him as much as other people, but that scene really cemented him in the Doctor's role. With Matt it was probably a combination of his scene with the food, and the scene at the end when he claimed the Earth if off limits. An idk why, but I almost immediately fell in love with Peter's doctor, as well as Jodie's. I think at that point I was just over the whole "I'm worried, will we like them, I don't like them, wait I like them, okay I love them" cycle, so I just jump into loving them 😅
@@inkbery4473 Were people worried about Tennant? I thought it was Matt people were really unsure about.

That seems to be canon
Look when all of YOUR cells spontaneously combust at once and forcibly mutate. Your brain needs time getting used to it too
It's not just that. After a regeneration, the entire body rearranges itself. New brain connections, new height, new weight... The entire body must feel off balance and your mind is still adjusting to a new thought pattern. Honestly, I find it more insane that some timelords are able to walk it off as if it was nothing.

@@DoctorWhoKage It only took them two seasons for him to not be a colossal asshole.

i love the idea that 12 was so much more confused and even amnesiac bc time lords are only biologically meant to have 12 regenerations (if we ignore timeless child, which is fine bc it obvs wasnt an idea yet during 12), but of course gallifrey granted the doctor more, “breaking the rules of regeneration”.

Can we just acknowledge his eyes and acting in that show?
That was the writers man, not him. Moffat wasted him.@@tomnorton4277

I think 11's intro is the best one. It really accomplishes so much by doing so little. Imo it's the best 'first episode' for a Doctor.
😉
It's David he's back!
the only person who didn't flinch with high af regenerating Doctor was Amelia Pond. Weird screaming strange man demanding foods in the middle of the night? *rolled eyes *
As a person who has never watched Doctor Who, I am very confused.... and somewhat concerned.
Start now, you won't regret it (but be prepared for the amazing special effects)
And as for The Doctor being 'high' of regeneration energy, it's literally been explained as going on a bad LSD trip before the brain gets used to the new body.
join the cult.
Supernatural1550 Trust me when I tell you that context doesn’t help. At all. Trust me.
