I've watched your other Mav 88 mod vids and thought they were excellent. I am very glad you uploaded this vid reporting on the performance of the accessories. I find this information invaluable. Thanks so much.
I love it. It really relieves a lot of the weight of a fully stocked shotgun. I can simply balance it without "carrying" it fully in my arms and I can bring it to firing position quite easily/quickly. I could probably buy a much better quality sling online...but for under $3...I couldn't beat it for now.
Thanks for sharing your experience with the ATI accessories. This was a great help, as I am in the "processof thinking" to install the ATI stock on my MAV 88.
MrMnmn911 Oh yes! Your instruction-videos are really good. They show everything in detail in a calm and professional way and gave me a clear imagination of what to do if I want to "upgrade" my MAV 88. Well, I bought this thing in 1996 and regarded it as a kind of "home-defense gun" and so it was rarely used as most of the time I shoot with my "over and under"- or "side by side" shotguns for hunting purpose or shooting trap and skeet on the range. So it is a Model "Special Purpose" with a 18,5 inch barrel and up till recently I never came to my mind to add any gadgets. After viewing some youtube-videos about a MAV 88 with that ATI Stock I came to the conclusion that this ATI-Talon Stock would really enhance the capabilities of the MAV 88 an let me handle this thing better. Well my experiences with the MAV 88 are positiv and the times I had it with me on the range it worked properly. The only thing that does not satisfy me is the foregrip or forestock. It is really a bit rickety and I wondered if replacing the factory builtin foregrip with the Mossberg 500 Action Slide Tube and a Mossberg 500 foregrip would solve this problem. But regarding your video about the foregrip I doubt that this would be the solution for the problem. So I don´t need to change the foregrip for the reason to add a rail-system for more "gadgets" I only want to make this foregrip a little more solid - though even the factory bultin grip seems to operate fine so far.
that info about the forend was very helpful I was looking into getting that but i had concerns about how it would feel when shooting . this was very helpful thank you . Great video!
Thanks for the comment flylow level. Had a great time. Thanks for spreading the knowledge. Zombie Run? hmmm...looks like fun but I don't have the gear. I think you need a vest. Any recommendations, if I do need one? Maybe it's time for early Christmas???
Excellent review of your gear and the class sir! Everyone should find a class like this to work the bugs out of their gear before a real world incident jumps up and bites them. Kudos on those timed 5-shot runs, too. Proof that you don't have to spend big bucks to have an effective setup. I swear you were running that shotgun as smooth as I've ever seen. I wish I had taken a video camera to the line. Let's do the class again and I will. Next up, Zombie Run!
Cool...no problem. I have a Mav88 specific picatinny rail forend and I've removed the side rails for the same reason you are changing yours...those rails cut into my thumb on the recoil...left my left thumb a bit raw. I'm going to go the route of a barrel mount for a tact flashlight too...seems to be the most practical approach...then attach the pressure switch to the forend.
Yeah, I tried removing the piccatiny rail but it still didn't feel right. The forend behind the rail is open with the thread holes for the hex bolts. I wished it was flat. If it was I might consider it. I did put the OME forend and it feels great. I'll either find another forend grip, or keep the original forend grip on and try a barrel/magazine clamp for installing a flashlight. Thanks for your thoughts and input.
My ATI stock came with the newer single point sling spacer...it works great with the sling I made myself. I may show that on another video...I just need to get a stronger caribeaner as a connector. But overall...it is comfortable and works well.
I have a question about the heat shield. Does it slide forward because of the recoil? I heard from several people that the shield won’t stay still. It shifts on recoil.
Great vid. Just a thought...rather than remove the forend altogether, just loosen the hex key bolts and remove that piccatiny rail where your thumb was having issue. that way you still have the rail on the bottom and on the other side (or you can remove both side rails for better hand positioning.
Good video. I also have a Maverick 88, mine is the short barrel though. When I got the 320 I told you about on a different video of yours, I picked up the Mav at the same time. Anyway, I like the Maverick shotgun as well, although my 12 year old son has laid claim to it lol. I may just have to stick to my ole SPAS 12 :) Thumbs up again Bro!~~John
I can certainly see why your son would lay claim to the 88. I don't know much about shotguns however I've learned a lot about my Maverick 88, and I love spreading the knowledge. Thanks for watching...This class was a BLAST!!
Very thorough. Thanks for referring me to this. I may look into a local class like the one you took. I have the 7 rnd mag tube and 20" barrel, but am going to look into trap and skeet and picked up a 28" barrel for that. I'm considering the mod you did but adding a Hogue grip which wouldn't present the same ergonomic issues you had. Thanks for these well presented videos.
Did you buy the 28" barrel from maverick arms in Texas? I want the long barrel option for my 20" Mav 88 8shot and it seems that the Texas option(brand new $133.00)and Mossberg(brand new $180.00)itself is the only place I can find the absolute correct 28" barrel!?! I've checked EBAY and some other sites and I couldn't find the 28" AT ALL! The ones that folks did have were compatible for the 6 shot 18.5" Mav88...Do you know where to find a 28" any cheaper than the above mentioned 2 factory options? Thanks!
Cool. Do you like the one point sling? I haven't really tried using the Mav88 with a 2 point sling but I really did like the single point sling a lot. Cool that you made one yourself.
thank you for your video very thorough was looking at the Maverick today am looking to do mods with it can i get these modification done at local guns shops ive never had to take a fire arm apart
+Ron Rutherford Hi Ron. You probably could but I'm not sure. If not perhaps a gunsmith but that would be too costly in my opinion. You'll have to learn how to disassemble it to clean it after you shoot it anyway. It really isn't that difficult. I watched plenty of good videos on disassembly/reassembly. I think it would be best to watch and rewatch. That's what I did. If you haven't already, watch "My Maverick 88" playlist on my main channel. I don't have one on the disassembly, cleaning and reassembly but there are plenty of good ones to watch on YT. Anyway, hope this helps. Thanks for watching, liking and commenting.
Thank you sir. Most of these links move quickly so I don't keep up with them. The ATI stock is no loner sold, as shown. ATI does have newer products available on their site. Hope this helps.
@ 2:21 Wait 5 pump shots of 12g high brass in less than 2.5 seconds?????? Did i misunderstand something?? Because if i didn't I will have to call bull🐂💩. I'm decent in racking and bucking this mav88 12g w/High brass 3" shells, but i can only get out about 1 shell per rack eject and load a new shell in about 1 second per pump cycle and fire. In my semi-auto 12g i can unload 5+1 of 3" fed 13 pellet 00 buck in about 2 seconds. So what am i missing??
cory jordan I suggest the ATI website first. See what is now available. Thenew do a Google search to see if you can find a lower price. I've purchased other items directly from the ATI site with no problems. Hope this helps.

I put a Firefield front grip with flash light on my Maverick88. Works great !

KingpinRable Yes. It slides forward because of the recoil. My DIY spacer works perfectly though. No more barrel creep. Thanks for watching and liking.
Thanks man good review

You can remove 1 of the two pic rails saving one for the light and taking the one off your thumb

Why no side saddle/pickrail.?
I have the same setup, but I find the side saddle is mandatory.
Blood Thane I didn’t want one.
@@MrMnmn911 Did you learn how to quad load during the course ? ?

ATI.
Nice video, would like more info; web links on accessories... also I'd take the "rail" off the left side, oorr attach small buffer to the "rail"...

What state are you in, that pistol grip is not legal eveywhere
Is it not legal where you are?
Where did you get your upgrades?
I got them a different places online. Most on Amazon...which no longer allows these types of items to be sold on their site.
Didn't you have to buy a new action tube to be able to replace the stock forend?
+Matt Jones Yes. I did.
where did you buy that sight??
I purchased it from Amazon. I don't think they sell it any longer. You can find it on the ATI website.
What heat shield is that?
Jethro 1981 ua-cam.com/video/XtAn08NPQMs/v-deo.html
HOW MUCH DID THE OPTIONS COST?
It's been 8 years. I don't remember.
Nah, you don't have to use a vest. You could run with a sneaky bag of some sort or even just a backpack it looks like to me. Let's talk!
where can you get that heat sheild?
