I got one of those railed fore grip and HATED it! It was so fat and uncomfortable I ended up taking off the 2 side rails. Same with the pistol grip and adjustable stock. LOL it’s now back to the stock configuration with a tube mounted light. I love the Magpul stock and fore grip on my 590A1, but I’m not gonna spend the $140 bucks for one for my Maverick 88. That’s more than I paid for the gun itself! LOL
My favorite knife ever!! I own two and just sent my to my father in law in Ukraine...also im exchanging my mav 88 action tube this week probably sooooo....all in al, great video...new subscriber.
@Redbeard Adventure does that forend have a lot of wobble in it? Seems people with the 500 complain but people with the 88 have no issues. Odd because the barrel sizes are indentical, so it may be something internal.
Hey buddy, thanks a lot for the videos, well done. the link to the parts is no longer good. If you have some time please see if you can recommend something like that from somewhere else. I looked in Amazon and could not find a similar product. Thanks a lot.
Do you know the full length of the shotgun when the butt stock is collapsed fully? Looking to get a smaller carrying bag, but need it to be compact. Hoping its 34inches when collapsed. Thanks in advance if you can answer it.
What is the shortest distance between the end of the buttstock and the trigger. I got short arms i can barely reach the trigger with my original buttstock.
I’d like to just have the pistol grip on at home and when I take it to the range put the stock on. So my question is if I could still fire the shotgun with just the pistol grip and not worry about it coming off?
@@NSBHarrell no problem also every so often wipe it down with an oil soaked rag maybe once or twice a week the blueing isnt the best and it'll rust the barrel get some clp and a rag soak the rag with the clp and wipe it down keep the rag around and do that every so often with all your firearms
Where the hell did you get that little ring that goes in front of the castle nut and interlocks with the back of the grip? I can't find that piece for sale anywhere.
Will these work for my maverick 88 20 gauge or only for 12 gauge? I know the stock will but I’m curious about the saddle and forend? I’ve read mixed answers saying yes and no for the forend. Would love to have that forend on mine if possible?
Redbeard Adventure thank you sir I tightened mine until I couldn’t but with no extra force, is it normal for your thumb to hurt or feel sore after shooting a pistol grip shotgun? (I’m new to guns)

Potential total fail as personal/home defense weapon: Mossberg 88/500 receivers have a peculiar lifter pin attachment to receiver in that the two pins sit in holes bored thru the receiver side walls in such a way that if the weapon is dropped from waist level or above, and lands flat on the side of the receiver, the litter pins will be jarred out of position rendering the pump action totally inoperable. Jammed up tight. In order to reset the lifter, you will have to remove that side saddle because it is secured through the trigger pin and the ejector screw hole. Then you will have to remove the pistol grip because it covers the rear of the trigger group such that you cannot remove the trigger group while the pistol grip is attached. All this takes special tools not required when the M88 is stock out of the box. In other words, to field strip this weapon you have to carry an extra tool kit to break the gun down if the lifter jars loose in a drop.
Watching you add parts that take away from the proven reliability of the gun was entertaining but it sure LOOKS cool. You have a fore grip that is too bulky to grasp and too uncomfortable to use so you can use rails you don't need, to mount a light you won't be able to see with because it's moving when your using the gun. Mount a light on the tube and use your thumb, use the saved money for ammo. Now you got a pistol grip/stock combo that I really like; on a 870 or 37. You can't get to the slide lock WITHOUT releasing your grip and canting the gun sideways to use it. Remington and Ithaca's slide release is on the trigger guard where you can get to it WITHOUT letting go of your trigger hand. If you want to make it work right adda extended slide release so you can use your thumb and don't have to change your grip. Kind of a bitch to get to the bolt that holds it all on the receiver but get used to it every 100 rounds or so since you didn't use thread locker. Every 200 if you did because the Chinese bolt never stays tight. Average number of shots fired in a defensive shooting by a civilian: 2. Your sidesaddle just adds weight and bulk to the gun. Throw a couple of shells in your pocket. You won't need them anyway and if you do, you picked the wrong fight. IF you ever have to use that thing to defend yourself, hold on tight. I was the police for 20 years and do you know what I know when I show up? Somebody got shot and you shot them. Then I see the gun. I'm not saying it's illegal or anything but you WILL be judged by the cops, probably as a Rambo or crazy prepper. NEVER add anything to the gun that takes away from it's reliability. All the shit you added either gets in the way or will break when you need it most. What didn't you add that you really can use and need? A fiber optic or night sight. The first, last and ONLY thing you can add that helps. Good luck with your $500, $200 gun.
That foregrip is bulky, but if you put a vertical grip on that picatinny it won’t matter. I have this same shot gun and did put a vertical foregrip on it as well as that stock/grip. The Tacstar side saddle doesn’t just add bulk/weight. It adds a top picatinny that you can use for a dot as well as holding extra shells. “Throwing extra shells in your pocket” isn’t an option if this is your home defense/bump in the night gun. When you hear the sounds of breaking and entering will you have time to grab those extra shells at midnight or two AM? Having that there you know you’ve got a few extra shells. “You picked the wrong fight” doesn’t apply when it’s someone breaking into your home. That’s when the fight was chosen FOR you. I’ll take every advantage I can get, flashlight, red dot...if someone decides to break in I’d rather have too many shells than not enough.
@@shadetreehomesim To each their own. It's still too much shit to depend on not to mess up at the wrong time. Interesting you bring up the pic rail. Hi!! Please share the brand and model of the stock, forend and cartridge holder please!!! Thanks from Chile!
with that stock setup... you have to remove the stock every time you want to clean the shotgun?
No you don't. You never have to take a stock off to clean any shotgun
I have a similar build but the pistol grip hurts my thumb after shooting 00 buck too many times. Oh well 😂
Always a good problem to have.
The link to purchase isn’t valid anymore. Can you tell me brand of this. I want to order for mine.
you can put a 500/590 forend on an 88 you just have to get an action slide and nut
Building my Maverick 88 just installed side saddle going to order folding pistol grip and light
Only thing bad about your build and the adjustable stock I bought is you need to take the stock or grip off to remove the fire assembly.
Did the pistol grip interfere with the action release? Great video!
Not too bad. It is still very manageable
Redbeard Adventure thanks brother!
Nicely done...your link to the upgrade no longer exists. Can you make it easy on me and give me some info? Thanks man. Dig your channel..
I put this on the only thing is the action release is kind of difficult to manipulate.... not that you’d need it in combat just saying
Need some of that molly grease. Cool video.
Do you have the link for the side saddle shell holder?

Get a pistol grip with a folding stock.
