how can you charge money for those " i just take a gopro and drive around" type of videos?
You don't need to join motor trend on demand, if they real wanted to be greedy they would just stop with UA-cam and just use their website. Plus there are other shows, movies, and documentaries on MTD.
***** They're already sustaining them selves via MTOD. So much so that now Roadkill is a separate entity from Hot Rod and Motortrend. The reason they're still on youtube is because they aren't scumbags.
You can thank all of those people who use ad blockers.
Because a percentage of idiots under 30 years old will pay to hear to morons blathering without a script.
***** Well ads are how they make money if you don't want to pay. Either you have to pay them, or advertisers do. An audience does you no good as a business if you can't make money off of them.
Thank goodness this was free, because I would not pay to see these guys chit chat for 20 minutes.
they said each week...
those two guys think they know everything about cars they drive...
not true at all...
Good for you...now stop wasting our time with your non-constructive comments.
Well, of course it's boring, they're driving a truck. The video would be a lot more interesting if they were driving a performance car.
i have ZERO need for that dually... but i want it...
Ford blue oval allday everyday...
Ian Fosbrook same, I'd just get the F250, would be plenty for my needs and more efficient and comfortable
Let Jonny take the super duty for a week he will be picking Prius inside the grill for the next month
I realize Carlos left and came back, but I'm sure you can find him a better job to do at MT. This isn't bad but we all know Carlos has great literary skills to convey how a car feels like (courtesy of 100 episodes of Ignition). He's the more mature version of Camisa.
I would love to hear Jonny Lieberman's Prius Rant. Here in Maryland we have the second highest density (and I do mean dense) of Toyota Prius's and the highest density of Sienna's. To them, 43mph is Indy racing.
To me, the people who wine about Priuses have gotten more annoying than getting stuck behind one.
lawnmowerdude I accidentally roll coal on them ;)
I thought that when the Prius first came out, then I drove one from Sacramento to Philadelphia, down along the southern border. I gotta say, it was a totally enjoyable ride cross country. We were clocking high 80s and 90s on those long New Mexico stretches without so much as a hiccup. Sure it's not as exciting of a drive as some ballsier sports cars out there, but it cost under $300 in fuel to go almost 4k miles and the ride quality, experience, and comfort level was great. I think most people just bash Priuses because it's "cool" to hate it. It's become the "Rollerblade" of vehicles for some dumb ass reason. I wonder how many people that are on the Prius hate train have actually driven one for any length of time.
And thats one problem, people dont need luxury trucks, they need affordable durable work trucks.
scoterofd which are already available
A truck that costs as much as a small to medium house is not affordable.
scoterofd People that need work trucks that they can spend 40+ hours a week in
you are right...its really not work truck...this thing is best suited for heavy hauling on the highway...you can move the same weight around town with a cab/chassis v10 which is a well proven, reliable truck
scoterofd then who is buying those luxury truck?! If no one is buying them then no one will make them...
Ford trucks have the biggest balls. Really though Ford F series from the 150 all the way up to the 450 leaves the competition in the dust. Horsepower and torque are better, towing is better, interior is better and the gadgets on the truck are insane. Mate that with the power stroke and you can pull a train.
leeleelee just need a little weight and yeah youll be pullin trains
Don't forget about the 550-750 😂
So my current theory on why we are seeing more MTOD videos on youtube is so that they can better utilize the algorithm which rewards channels with more consitent upload schedules and thus better propagating videos on youtube.
Seriously people? Do you automatically dump on everything you can't afford? MTOD is awesome and if you can't budget for something as cheap as that you need help
Haters gonna hate. It's the interwebs after all right? You can say / write stuff you wouldn't tell someone in person. I'm not a subscriber but i won't hate them if they wouldn't broadcast these clips for free. I just would be a bit sad that's all so thanks to those guys who pay so i can watch for free :)
Johnny saying to cars they are cute..FINALLY I HAVE A LEGIT REASON TO BUY MT ON DEMAND
Casey stopped vlogging so I gotta watch this shit
Word
Omar Rafati yeah today's vlog was just depressing but I'm sure he will make some cool stuff in the future. Maybe he'll do a feature film
why isn't he vlogging?
@ Phantom Driven... He didn't find it challenging enough anymore, he wants to keep moving forward/progressing his career by challenging himself to do new stuff.
Wow, this must be really expensive to produce. No wonder you have a paywall. not
Pumkinvine - Go get a job. Whiner.
its supposed to me extras, like when you buy the expensive package of a DVD
Jonny I couldn't agree more with the slow Prius drivers out here, but I have a theory. It's Uber drivers waiting to get a call. Start looking for the little sticker and no passengers. It's an epidemic
If I was the President I would pass a law that anyone driving under the speed limit would get double the fine of those driving over it. I drive a no passing stretch of road that is 50 mph for 10 miles and every day someone is going 35 mph and causing a traffic jam.
While you have it, you should use that F350 to coal roll some of those stupid Prii.
Not that I am normally an advocate for coal rolling, but it's just fun to piss off slow Prius owners.
Dolby 109 these new diesels don't roll coal because of all of the emissions restrictions.
+William Davids well you cannn..... As long as you take that crap off. But not in California!
I guess the world isn't hot enough...
jldude84 back it up. I want facts
jldude84 what I'm saying is most people I know who have trucks like this daily drive them.
Jonny, that cabin fits you like a glove. The quintessential $70,000 rolling office. Great on-camera chemistry between you and Carlos. I enjoy y'alls co-hosted reviews so much.
after I become a multi millionaire I will sighn up for on demand---is that fair? LOL
These are also light duty trucks not heavy duty lol
clint Miller heavy duty has about twice the torque right?
clint Miller I get what your saying (semis are heavy duty) and then you have trucks like the GMC Kodak, international cxt, and the ford f650 and f750 are medium, and the 2500 and 3500 series of trucks is light duty. I'm just waiting for someone to not get what your saying.
Lol I only said it to see what people say that know nothing about trucks lol
They're heavy duty pick-ups
Yeah sure they are lol they are light duty my man light duty look it up
How many infinities do we need?
An infinite amount❓
MrKeyboardCommando my brain!!!
ray britton Wow, infinity must be really, really, really big‼️😮😮😮
"how many infinities do we need? " nice
You should've plowed over every Prius you guys saw on your driving Loop
So there are legit subscribers that would have paid money to watch this Ford commercial? WTF?
There are a few legitimate 14 to 16 year old boys who did.
Jared Woltman I drive a 2015 F150. I maintain a fleet of F250 and F350s for an electric utility company. I know Ford makes good trucks. But this level of dick suckary is just obsurd.
Um, seeing the outside of the vehicle would have been nice.
They showed an outside shot at the beginning.
Keith Brettell Oh, those two seconds worth? Thanks
But this video is FREE‼️ Just be grateful for Motor Trend's wonderful philanthropy, you bloody ingrate‼️🤑🤑🤑
iam the biggest fan of diesel and own tons of diesels but because of emmisions shit and they are now impossible to work on. why not purchase a gas truck. they are getting good with efficiency of gas
rob torque
what good is it when I'm working and can't afford it
6:27 anyone else see the creepy stare from the next car over?
so Carlos is back?
HodsBroo for awhile now😂
He has been back for ages.
Carlos is the best car journalist out there!
What a waste of petrol‼️🙁🙁🙁
ya especially because it runs on diesel
JLG098721 Does it⁉️ Well, I suppose petrol really would be a waste‼️😂😂😂
MrKeyboardCommando also why do you think it's a waste? I drive a dually and quite often travel over 20000LBS gross.
JLG098721 Why has this suddenly become all about you⁉️ 🤔🤔🤔
You claimed it was a waste. I gave a valid reason to own one.
Wow an F-350! So interesting.
I feel your pain Johnny, in texas, everybody goes 43 mph on the on-ramp
Where are you? In Houston its a drag race onto the ramp then settles down to about 80-85.
It is faster than their skill level, especially the texters. Does every state have those idiots?
CncObsession I'm so jealous, in Australia everyone fails to realise you need to match speed to merge, resulting in near standstills at every motorway on ramp, and major delays during rush hour.
elementalfunk There are those idiots here too. It is too easy to get a license IMO.
Seems like a cool truck but I do find it strange that motortrend was putting this truck up against the Honda Ridgeline in their car & truck of the year awards? It is like taking a muscle or sports car and putting it against a Toyota camerey or something. Hopefully next year they will have awards for the best Light Duty truck, medium duty and heavy duty PLEASE!!!!
The modern diesels just aren't worth the expense and hassle. The horsepower wars, emissions standards, and time lost for repairs (even under warranty) just make them the equivalent of a 1970s carbureted-emission controlled v8, albeit with way more power. In the free states, people are just ripping the junk off, warranty be damned.
Sometimes Johnny needs to figure out when to stop talking. He's talking about why nobody should buy a truck with the 6.2 gasoline fueled engine. Not everyone wants to spend the $7k+ for the diesel option and increased upkeep when the 6.2 (which is a great engine) will satisfy their purposes and still has a ton of power. Stick to European garbage, Johnny.
Finally Carlos Lago is back! Much better than the other guy who was taking his place, forgot the name of the unfunny " comedian wannabe". Carlos thinks before speaking and that makes watching the video less boring and makes it easier to watch the video and enjoy the information without forcing us to put up with a CLOWN, thank you guys. :)
The gas engine is around $7000-$8000 cheaper and doesn't have all the bs emissions stuff. The gas is very powerful. Watch the Mr. Truck video on gas vs diesel.
Prius is not only a problem in California, in London due to free access to congestion charge area, almost all mini cab taxis are Prius, and where 20 they do 15 and where 30 they do 20 !!!
Marek Redo Saving that gas bro !
Wish they'd USE a little gas and get their stupid sheet metal boxes moving.
Carlos, Jonny, google how russian car magazine AutoReview does it's long-term reliability tests. It's a proven system showing accurate results in short period of time.
Why even have a UA-cam channel if all you do is post samples of what's on your On Demand channel? Does that channel even make you money?
Great Episode: It must be a Cali thing (Prius comment) because in New Jersey people drive them as normal as anyone (ahem) in NJ drives.
Prius drivers are something else. I can't believe how many of these cars are the worst drivers on the road. How did they get a certain type of people to all buy the same car!! And drive it so horribly. I saw a woman get on the freeway with one last night like a bat out of hell (strange for a Prius so naturally it coughs my eye) she over steers right into a bmw 5 series and dents her rear bumper. He's car looked fine. But they pulled over and had words then she gets back in car and drives completely insane again!! 🙈
Lieberman just slamming on the binders in the middle of traffic haha. Stopped pretty well though
You are free forgetting engine realibity. Truck owners know the Ford Diesel 6.0, 6.4, are crap, and 6.7 still has a lot to prove
Id buy a gasser 3/4 ton. Don't know why Johnny is hating on it, unless you're towing every day a diesel would cost you more in the long run.
when he is talking about how fast is he should say 1 second quicker the whole time he was saying second quickest second that after talking about the fan I was thinking 2nd quickest etc lol maybe it's just me
Motor trend should make a show called what bugs you most... Like slow cars entering the freeway or drivers not using turn signals or drivers not turning on head lights when it's dark outside etc.
I want to know what kind of mechanical issues it will have in two years. Will it be injector cups cracking? Or maybe bad injectors that cost and arm and a leg to replace ?
They talk about how it is so comfortable and is basically a luxury vehicle but if you are hauling stuff all over the country then you need it to extremely comfortable.
I know plenty of people that rather the gas 6.2 of the 6.7 diesel. 6.2 is reliable as all hell cheaper to maintain and still have plenty of pulling power
The F250 Gas is a great truck if you need a truck for a ton of payload but very little towing.
On Demand ia gonna fail. Do yourselves a favor and just start a full time series with Netflix
Legal limit is .04 for anyone with a commercial driver's license in California I have mine great video keep it up
does motortrend offer great retirement benefits and medical benefits? Is it a great career? Of course no one actually from Motor Trend will actually answer.
motor trend should have a road tester with a class A. it really could open up possibilities for vehicles as well as shows. I of course volunteer for the position.
I got 2 phones
my licence expired over 30 years ago . i do not pay tickets . THIS IS TRUE
This might just be an American thing, but why doesn't Jonny come to a complete stop at stop signs? He kinda roll them. Where I live (Norway) that's a serious offense and the standard ticket is $600 and maybe even the loss of your license. Even if you slowly cross it at 1 kph.
He is lazy
Isak Chamoun You're supposed to stop, but the police here cafe mostly about speeding
Hoss Cartwright It's called a "California stop".
Hoss Cartwright Its the same thing in America.
Over here they're called 'stoptionals'
Second
first
And for Fleets if you have a massive tire failure it is cheaper to replace the extension fender then the entire bed quarter panel.
Can we get a tug of war between these torque monster trucks!!! Winner gets a chicken dinner 😋
am i the only one who doesnt like carlos?
both Lieberman and Carlos are barf worthy.
both of you are barf worthy
It's the rabbi-lumberjack beta-male look.
I don't dislike Carlos...but I do like Jonny and Jason better.
Dolby 109
None of them are worth a shit without well written scripts.
my problem is the kia soul. my friend brought it up and now there are everywhere
Hypermiling Prius drivers deserve unadulterated scorn. In lucid dream state, I imagine an inventor who's come up with a neutron bomb like horn which application selectively destroys Priuses while preserving all living, biological matter.
Hahahaha
Not a real diesel until you chip it and cloud out gassers😃
Tyler Hoeve your thinking is the exact reason why the EPA rapes manufactures on diesel trucks.
Wildkat9797 Ask me if I care wtf hahaha😂😂
No more motor trend for me. I'm sick of all the advertising for their streaming service. Good bye.
Ethan Swapp you will not be missed
You should offer ignition. Not daily fix
After watching the grand tour last night on amazon I realized how much work these other auto shows need.
The rotational force (torque) may be greater in an F350 but you both know that they Veyron weighs a fraction of an F350. With that said, physics dictates that there is less of a drag force (drag forces move in the reverse direction) and hence why you see better speed and acceleration on a Veyron. Come on, peeps, don't try to bullshit your crowd because we know you should at least have the basics physics knowledge to figure that one out.
CrackerJacksAeg dude all they were going for was what kind of car has that much torque, so people realize how much it is, no shit the veyron is faster. You kinda picked a point they didn't make there bud
Raw force doesn't do shit unless it's in a vacuum so a torque number with no context is useless information.
Hey Cali, use your goddamn turn signal.
I was more interested in the g35
not first, not last.
You had me at "two inches of wood."
They only mentioned torque, and that is not much more than the Ford 6.9L, and the 6.7L is a trash motor, not good long-term.
Nathaniel Clark thank you somebody who knows what they are talking about
jldude84 You need to learn grammar.
Nathaniel Clark you need to learn a thing or two about something before you call it "trash" cause you obviously have no idea what your talking about
Connor McGee Just hearing news, And a 30-year old Diesel still runs.
steam engines from the civil war era still run, what's your point?
These two are a good pair.
Still rather have a GMC 3500 Denali Duramax
HKM _ ya, about that, I just spent the better part of my week changing a turbo and a fuel pump on a late model duramax, those are by far the worst diesel engines anywhere when it comes to fixing the thing. Give me a Ford anyday! Good video, by far the most capable truck of the big three, or is that 2 because Dodge is really foreign owned fiat stuff.
I like John in all his videos. He always manages to squeeze in a WRX reference into his conversation. LOL.
finally, somewhere where i recognize the streets :D I could almost smell the air pollution from here though
fifth
Nice truck but for 75K it should come with its own Airstream then I could see spending that kind of money .
jimmy504 whodat lol a new airstream cost more than 75k
I know a few guys that haul cars for a living with 5th wheel pickups and make some pretty decent money. If I was going to be spending a large portion of my life in a vehicle it might as well be a really well equipped nice one. Its all part of business right? If it's paying for itself quite handsomely then is it expensive?
I do agree my best friend is a use car dealer and he hauls his own car's from the auction using a 1 ton dually even though I was impressed with the Ford Super Duty and I did test drive one it was nice but at the end of the day I'm still and always will be a Chevy man I guess because I'm a retired Chevrolet Dealer it just goe's to show you that you can't win them all !
It's surprising the amount of people that can afford this, especially considering this isn't the kind of thing most well off white collar people buy.
I guess it depends how you want to go through life. I have scrimped and saved and purchased things that were cheaper and finally when it wore out I purchased a decent quality item only to say "I should have got one of these in the first place". If you are working out of your vehicle is can certainly make sense to spend that kind of money. Might as well enjoy life!
Drinking game, take a shot whenever you hear "exclusively" or "on demand"
That ending, so true, so amazingly true. Out here in Arizona, I live in Havasu, they'll sometimes be getting onto the freeway, semis are going 70~80mph and they're just going, la ta de da da da la te da 45mph oh time to merge! Prius Drive goes, "Oh, I need to pass a semi in 10 minutes so I will pop over and cock block you" so now the Semi driver is going wait a minute what is this idiot doing... And you're sitting there, watching this literal piece of clogged fat, block this artery as all kinds of red blood cells slam on their brakes trying to get around this nuisance.
Hate them.
I am from Germany,
I really do love the cars that you Americans are making at the moment,
since you have realizd that there are such things as corners you cars have become super attractive. But these trucks,
i still don't get them and even tho me being the comlete opposite of
an environmentalist i think that these vehicles are just a complete waist of ressources,
in every aspect.
Peter Griffin Trucks are the most usable non commercial vehicle made in my opinion. They last forever, you can tow pretty much whatever, you can throw a ton of shit in the back, and a lot of people like the drive and ride of trucks.
I do aggree with you,
but why do they have to be that big?
And why do people want to drive a vehicle like that as their daily?
Peter Griffin not many people drive these as dailies, they are most useful for farmers here in the midwest, but businesses use them, and that's why they added that feature of remote telemetry
Peter Griffin some people need a truck that can tow 30,000 pounds, take private car haulers for example. They haul 4-5 cars on a trailer across the country, they need a truck that has a bunch of torque and can haul a large amount of wait. Now on the daily driver side, a truck like that f350, are very safe. They are big and heavy and they are very safe. The ride is very comfortable and some people drive one every day based on personal preference.
Hm I see your point, but we have people doing and wanting the same things but nobody needs a behemoth like that
Ummm, why would one NEED a F350? Can't park it in the typical garage. Can't park it in the usual parking space in a shopping mall, underground parking.... Need a custom made garage or leave it outside...are they only bought by company's NEEDING a pickup that can tow 30,000 pounds? Enlighten me.
What is the point of a vehicle like this though? If you need a truck but the F150 or even the F250 is not big enough, why not just get a real small truck? Or a big van? When do you make the transition between a personal vehicle and a utility vehicle?
Does anyone buy these huge tucks for themselves? I would assume only businesses buy 'em.
tuukka aro Yes. Ranchers own these type trucks. Or people pulling travel trailers.
tuukka aro come down to the southern part of the US, these trucks are everywhere down here
tuukka aro a lot of people buy them as there personal vehicle. Go to a private high school in South Florida and you'll find them.
I don't do any job that requires me to haul any weight. But, if I could afford a dually F350, I'd drive it as my everyday vehicle. Like, I have a 98' Ranger, and it does well. But, I much prefer big trucks and the 350 is badass and huge (plus I like my Fords)!!!!
Slow-pokes on on-ramps is a NATIONAL PROBLEM, not a California problem. I hate it. Just want to push people onto the interstate from behind.
They are called ACCELERATION LANES FOR A REASON, PEOPLE!!
Guys, Jonny and the others. We can't pay this much for your channel. it's too expensive. I've got netflix, that offers so so much more for almost the same amount. You have too realize this and amalgamate with them. Seriously, you guy's ARE the new top gear, but DUDES, we aren't PAYING this much.I and everyone else WILL find something else to watch. And it will be a shame.
200,000 miles before people dump cars is true. Except I'm not dumping mine. My 2001 Ford Focus ZX3 has 181k miles and I'm just now looking at a new car to buy. I'm sending my Focus to my family's house as a back up car. It still works good. That Ford Focus has impressed me. And over the years since the recession Ford has really shown their engineering prowess
McKenzie, your Elicitation of the aerodynamics throughout the Ford GT 2017 in this plain understandable manner, has no pair in the automotive information videos. Very Wellcome Back and Thank You.
That's the loss. You priced a Truck up in the range of a newer note dependable vehicle. Any man smart enough to buy a Truck will not by something up in the 75k range. Hell, I wouldn't buy a Ford period. Just look at the Top Consumer Reports. The Explorer is covering that list with only one Dodge and NO Infiniti
That massaging feature Jonny was referring to is called Multi-Contour seats, and yeah, the new super duty can be optioned with that. Another feature trickled down from the F-150. Also offered in the Taurus, Explorer, and Lincoln models.
I love Ford but i HATE modern pickup trucks. TOO DAMN HUGE. I want a late 40s all 50s era pickup SO much. I wish Ford would make the new Ranger a small stepside.
Speaking of the F-250's gas engine, imho it's the second-best engine Ford makes, after the 5.2. But it's also the best engine Ford doesn't make. Design-wise it's just another set of camshafts away from being the most powerful production N/A V8 ever made. Ford has a bad habit of never really doing anything with their best engines.
free episode?? lol. Free episode?!?! oh thank you for this free episode, you guys are so generous by offering me this free episode!! this is my last time watching anything from this channel with PREMIUM content.
I realize this is Motor Trend and not Truck Trend but why don't you guys review trucks like this on your channel every once in a while and do head-to-heads? My bet would be there would be a fair amount of interest to see how they tow, perform off road, etc.
Carlos, Jonny. They should get the two of you on Wait! Wait! Don't tell me, you guys would be awesome special guests!
Wait! Wait! Shut up... lives on.
I bought a year subscription. I'd rather pay a few bucks for stuff I like instead of watching that Power Block crapola for free.
the Ford has 1 major flaw...the power curve is programmed too steep. Any vehicle programmed similarly is destined to wear itself out prematurely. IE flatter power curve equals longevity.
