Very interesting video Loz. I could never justify spending £100 on the genuine article. But for £20 (plus it’s showing as a 5% off voucher for me currently) I can overlook its shortcomings with dovetails. I’d also like to say you’re looking very dapper for the video 😮.
@@GrumpaLoz The China tools do bother me in some respects as they are ripping off others people’s intellectual property and probably using poorly paid workers who are being exploited, but saying that, I feel woodworkers are sometimes being exploited by some manufacturers
Hi Loz. I have lots of sliding bevels and this sort of tool is not for me. What I am looking for is a sliding bevel that tightens from the bottom edge so that it can be turned over without crashing into the nut. If you see what I mean. Good presntation though and workshop is improving by the way.... Bob (Weston super Mare)
Thanks Bob.. I agree that single use tools are probably the way to go and your favoured design is probably the best choice... I just need to get my late night Amazon browsing under control.... 🤣👍
When marking the dovetails, could you flip the tool, so the end grain is sat on the other dovetail marker? Might move that parallel section away enough to mark out the dovetail properly
Could be a starter tool. Is this woodworking, ie hand cut dove tails for me? Will it hold up to rattling around in the tool bag? Are the scales etched or just painted? I mean, there is no way I can justify paying for Bridge City tools but is it even worth the £20. I would like a sliding bevel gage... Thanks Loz. Take care & stay safe M8.
it is nine tool . Of course i am still thinking all the features of it in one tool never will work as good as dedicated tool to the job. Sliding bevel looks nice and solid with that cam lock and for dovetails just get dedicated markers. I like the tool and you cant go wrong for that money. Nice video
Thanks Loz, as you say a pretty little tool and clearly a complete visual rip-off of the BC tool, it's a shame it falls short on the dovetail marking but tbh I'd be happier with simpler separate tools for this purpose. I'm sure many people will be happy to believe they've got a bargain at 1/6 the price of the original tool, it rather depends how much you're going to use it or look at it I suppose !
Totally agree Andy. Bridge city also to an expensive multifunction carpenters square that's all singing and dancing, but begs the question is it better to have 4 single function tools that you actually need (that work well) OR one 9 in 1 that does the 4 things that you need ( but poorly) ...
I hope you’re ok fella, it’s been a couple of months
Can’t you put the wood on the side of the dovetail thingy? Certainly looks pretty

Thanks John, tried "dressing up " for the reviews.. back to my scruffs for workshop chores tho!

Looks nice but I don't think it would get any use from me .
