Hey Grumpa! I hope you have a speedy recovery! That No.4 was a great find. Yay more Clamps!!! Always need more. Always great to see you. Sorry I'm late
Thanks for the update Loz, sorry to hear about the Shingles I know it can be very unpleasant and take a while to fully recover so take care ! As always, some good finds and nice to have buys, that Stanley No 4 looks like a great buy, very little required to get it in good working order ! Once you start with the lathe you won't want to stop, they're addictive and quite relaxing when you get the hang of them !
Prayers for your speedy recovery. I 've had shingles outbreaks too, definitely no fun. Ben @ Hew & Awe is on my sub list, deffo a character with opinions & skills! I've finished up the bathroom storage rack, and built and installed a new banister in the stairwell. Heading out to the 'shop' to start laminating some pallet wood into panels for some tool storage in the shed. Take care & stay safe.
Hi Loz, great to see you on the Sunday blog. Sorry to hear you have shingles, not good, I have suffered myself , my sympathy. Looking forward to your wood turning projects. Take care Best wishes Fred
Sat down for a bit of UA-cam this morning and was merrily watching your channel. I can’t tell you how thrilled I was at the shout out. Thank you so so much. I hope to improve as I learn the whole UA-cam thing. I hope the treatment for the shingles works fast. I know it’s very painful. Best wishes Nick
Hope it gets you a few subs Nick, I remember the climb to 500 and then 1k- (I'm stuck at 1k due to content issues.... )🤣 ....you shouldn't have a problem
Hi Loz I hope you feel better soon. Look for the various mesh sanding disks as they enable far superior dust extraction. I have the Mirka Abranet disks for my Max XT padle sander but there are a number of different manufacturers of them. All the best fella.
I've just ordered the chuck Loz, thanks for that. I'm looking forward to the results of your wood staining experiment. Sorry to hear you have the dreaded shingles, very painful I hear. Take care, see you next time.
Spot On @vinylsteve for ebonising oak. Ive tried strong tea in the past myself on light wood, to mediocre effect. This time I'm going to pre load softwood with the tannin from tea to see if the iron oxide works here too. Someone in the comments also mentioned VanDyke crystals which can darken wood depending on its concentration: worth a punt too? ( I hadn't heard of it before)
I think you’ll be pleased with the sander Loz, I’ve got the similar Sealey model & recommend the Smirdex mesh sanding discs from ebrasives. You can order a mixed box of whatever grits you want from Barry, very good service 👍.
Thanks bud, that's good advice, I was going to get a selection of the 3M Cubitron but the Smirdex seem equivalent at a good saving- especially the mixed box! website bookmarked!
Thanks for the recommendation Loz, Mokuzia Design these are the type of channels
I like.
My pleasure!

Thanks Dough, appreciated!
Loz, no shame in shingles related to age; I had it at 18 and 32, knocked me for 6 both times!

Thanks, you too!
Glad you’re in good cheer despite the rough go. Best medicine for being down is a little tool haul. Right after what the doctor prescribed.
Yes! Thank you!

Hi Loz, sorry to hear you got shingles hope you recover quick, just subscribed to your channel, enjoyed it and catch you soon take care
Thanks Shaun, much appreciated!
You are making iron oxide to use as a stain. I've also used a very strong brew of tea (no milk) as a stain :-)
