This game was difficult for me to conceptualize at first and seemed intimidating, but you're video made it so much easier for me to understand. Even though the rules are well-written, I have a difficult time reading something procedural and understanding it. After a playthrough I watched the video again and learned a few things we'd been doing wrong. I like to watch these again after I've played once because then I can spot ways our gameplay was a little bit off and things we misunderstood/forgot about.
Great explanation! I was a bit confused about how the 'gaining a farm enhancement' action was triggered at first, as there is no reference to the windmill board in that section of the video. But looking at the windmill board itself, it is clear that the icon of a person and contract allows for that action to be taken.
You are exactly right. This was an oversight - I meant to be pointing to the column to the left on that one. All pin a note about this. Thank you and sorry for any confusion.
Is it better to watch these videos on BGG or on youtube (which is better for the content creator)? I watch quite a few instructional videos and reviews on board games and usually queue them into youtube but was wondering.
I don’t think it makes a big difference that way, however, leaving a comment or like on the UA-cam video directly certainly does help more. Thanks for asking.
I have a question because it is not clear for me: You can choose to gain fully/partially/or none of the reward but you need to perform an action fully no? So for example, if the action says Plant 2 Tulips and you have 2 Tulips, you need to plant both of them because it is not considered a reward but an action no?
I posted a reply, but removed it because I realize I should get you to timestamp me to the section of the video you are asking about, so I can be sure we are talking about the same thing.
@@WatchItPlayed 24:00 is when you talk about the rewards being optional, but planting is not a reward, but an action so It should be taken fully if possible no?
@@marson1720 The result of planting is a "type" of reward. Perhaps another word we could use is "benefit". Either way, to answer your question is a bit challenging because I work directly with the publisher when making the tutorial video. This means I often ask questions outside of what's covered in the rules, to try to ensure the video is as accurate as possible. Sometimes this means I'll have details you won't find mentioned in the rules. This would be one of those cases. This doesn't mean the videos are always absent of error, but I'm basically as confident as I can be that what I've explained here is correct. They also review the video before it goes live to catch any issues, so I can reshoot and correct them. That's the best I can offer for you evidence.
@@WatchItPlayed Thank you so much, I was just confused with the words "action" and "rewards" 😅 so basically you can use both terms for the same thing which means that any action can be fully or partially or not at all be rewarded, it is my choice to make as a player if I'd like to plant 0, 1 or 2 tulips for my 2xPlant Action 😁
Out of interest, why do we start at five points? I’ve not come across any effects that cause you to lose points. Separate question - the planting x2 action, is this taking two planting actions or just letting you plant two bulbs? Some tiles, like the upgrade twice tile, specifically say it’s the action twice but it’s the same iconography for the market and planting action and suggests you take the action once.
That is a great question! I also can't see anything that costs you victory points (except during final scoring) , and I scoured the cards, to see if anything comes up there, but didn't see something. A mystery! Yeah, the rules on planting seem to suggest it's just letting you plant 2 bulbs with a single action: "Any multiplier (e.g., “2x”) included in the icon indicates how many Tulip Bulbs you may plant" - are you asking if it counts as two actions for the sake of other effects that relate to "per plant action"? If I'm confident about the question, I'll check with the publisher on both of these items and see!
@@henkallaert2525 THAT must be where I remembered it from. I had some memory of knowing why players started with points, but it flew out of my brain. Thanks!
NOTE: At 32:40, I meant to point to the third column over for the example, not the fourth column.

Yeah, some games have a lot of separate moving parts, which can also make it a bit harder to see "the overall picture" when in the rule book.
We just played this game at BGG this week and loved it so much we bought it.
I saw a few people playing it there, I wonder if you were in one of those groups :) Hope you had a great show too!
Thanks again for the new video!
A pleasure Dani!
Thanks for another useful rules explanation. You're the man!
So glad you enjoyed - thanks!
Always excellent. Bravo again.
Thank you kindly!
Thanks!
You're very welcome, thanks for the kind support Jennifer!

Thanks for the kind words - glad you got that rule sorted!
You are the best at explaining games!!!
So glad you've enjoyed the videos!
You are another level, Rodney! Amazing... Thank you so much!

Excellently explained, as usual. Thank you!
Thank you kindly Ray!
Thank you for another great video Rodney!
My pleasure - thanks for checking it out (and for the kind comment!).
Thanks for another great rules explanation!

AMAZING TUTORIAL!
Thank you!
Great video, one small mistake at the end. You point to a column that does have matching tulip colours, but say you can earn points for it - 32:42
