That 'at what cost' phrase, especially with your impression, will stay with me now 😊. Perfect reminder for each time I forget to look after myself. Thanks.

Dr. Russell, every word of this describes me so well. As you said, even if someone offered me their help, i would not take it. My child is asking for attention all the time, but im not listening, too busy taking care of others.

I’m happy to hear you’re not going in there sick. It prevents everyone from getting sick including the other residents and the staff too. Thanks for the podcast. I grew up with a similar burden.

I was really good in the daycare. My hyper vigilance my head was constantly in a swerve. Knowing where 15 two year olds are and what they busy with, taking care of their needs helped fulfill me.

I am 31 I've recently discovered I have been taking care of everyone else but myself. I have started letting go of some responsibilities, but it's hard. Alot of guilty feelings.😬😬

I’ve done the people pleasing with my mom when she was ill. I was in another state so couldn’t visit as much. Today. I have guilt from that and subsequently her dying day. Trying to come to terms with that is hard. Realizing. I beat myself up mentally. Slowly coming to terms.

I took good care of myself only AFTER mother approved of what I wore, where I went, who I was with, what I ate, or didn't. I got dependent, anxiety, *horrible, scared on a date, what to eat, etc..........However I dressed beautifully, because maybe THEN my folks would be nice to me. twisted isn;t it

Thanks so much for this! I feel so seen!! I found you through the Personal Development School and subscribed! Btw, what is the image behind you? Does it represent the inner child? Would love to see it fully. Looking forward to viewing more of your content, book, and course!

Inflammation: could you please make a video about that? I have arthritis and at 60 am already too disabled. Is it possible to stop it from getting worse once i have healed the anxiety/alarm cycle? Thank you for these amazing insights. It is perfect. I didnt realise that i have anxiety and not just stressed.

Great! I do think the Buddhists & early Christians were right, meanwhile. Life is quite saturated with suffering. Picking up any lost toddler IS why you feel urgent to see a mom who has no clue why everyone's abandoned her.
Yeah, it'd be freeing to slap on a mask, get some fresh strawberries & limeade for her & go. Yippee! Who cares; pleasure & pain are smallminded taskmasters.
Nobody will die, hugs will feel great, it is HUMAN to love communally, she's a suffering lonely orphan, & yes, you too get to suffer. But the bigger picture is, part of you is NOT suffering, & bowing deep to What Is, vastly reduces the big looming phantom of dread & fear and "oh i gotta go see mom suffer." If you don't go, you suffer; if you do go you suffer (tho she & you suffer way less); no way to thrash free of this reality with sone kind of brain bound dualistic dual.
Seems the Tibetans & Jesus & Lao Tzu & Socrates & Howard Thurman were right, that our biggest burden is in trying to avoid burdens. Open the arms wide, "ok Suffering, bring it on, i say Yes to ALL of life!" is a euphoric freedom.
