Just did the belts on my S2R 800 today. I was a bit scared when i read about the bearing and that they should "spin". I thought they had to freely spin multiple turns (like rollerblade wheels for example) and thought I was good to stop there and go buy some new ones. Hopefully I saw your video and how they should spin :) Anyway I've loved reading about your work and history with Ducatis on your website and more recently on your blog. Hope you're doing well and that you can continue to work on them in the future (seems like you're good at it ^^).
Hey Brad, I’ve been following your UA-cam videos on Ducati’s. I’m currently working on a 2001, 750 Ducati monster doing valve shimming for the first time. You make it look so easy. little overwhelming. But I am determined to get this, right. I checked my valve clearance using the loaded and unloaded system. Seems that all my closing clearances are between..0015 and .002 my intake opening is.004 my exhaust opening is.003 on the horizontal cylinder. My intake opening is..0025 my exhaust opening is.005 on the vertical cylinder. which is twice the gap. This has me concerned. these are all standard measurements not in millimeters. The top end on the rear cylinder seems to be a little louder. what do you recommend as the sweet spot for opening and closing clearances for this particular monster also is it important that all the opening clearances be the same as well as closing clearances? and where do you suggest I find a proper shim kit for this motorcycle? I appreciate any information you can offer me. kindest regards, Andrew.
Brad used to work on my Sportclassic in Oakleigh...did great work for a great price.. Wish he was here in Spain to work on it now !!

Very informative and rich of tips that are helpful to avoid common pitfalls, thank you! :-)
Please explain the steps for installing the timing belt by determining the top and bottom dead center of the piston.
Good vid and description

Hi Andrew, Brad won't see your comments here. You'll need to comment on his channel to get in touch. www.youtube.com/@bradthebikeboy
Hello, do you need to remove the sparks to perform the belt removal? Thanks
