The fact that Kenny is still this visibly shaken up by the mere mention of that day means that what he saw was beyond anything we'd ever believe to be true. Kenny is a very strong, brave and gentle man to carry that memory with him. He could've easily told people what he saw and likely received money for it, but he didn't. Ken Schrader is the definition of a true friend and man. He didn't tell anyone out of respect for his friendship with the Earnhardt family, nor did he want to place the emotional burden on the Earnhardt fan base. It is a natural thing I feel many who follow the sport have, I guess they view seeing Dale in that state would provide closure, but we all know it wouldn't. For the longest time, I had those desires, but I no longer carry them because 1) it is not respectful to Dale 2) The greatest memory we could ever have of someone is the joy we cherish in their life, not their death. Dale Earnhardt is an inspirational figure to me, and I feel the best thing I can do for him is to maintain the image of him as this larger than life person, not as a corpse. I share in Dale's assessment, Thank You Kenny for keeping it a secret.
So I’m just curious. What is it that Ken is keeping? That he saw dale when he walked over to his car after the wreck? Just honestly curious not trying to be rude.
In addition to being a very classy guy, he can be funnier than any comedian I can think of when the time is right. I once listened to Kenny, Mike Skinner & his wife Angie on a satellite broadcast of the NASCAR CHANNEL. Those three could take that act on the road!! I used to drive a semi all night, five nights a week, and while I usually enjoyed the NASCAR CHANNEL, that broadcast just made the night fly by!!
"I'm glad it was you." Wow. Those words brought me a sense of closure and peace of mind that i didn't even know I needed until i heard Dale say them. I can't imagine what that meant to Ken...
Even I started choking up at that statement Dale read . It’s obvious Ken is trying to keep it together, had to crack a joke quick . That was deep and needed
Ann Schrader said once that Kenny saw something he never wanted to see and something he would never forget. I could name about a dozen different drivers who would have spilled their guts to the press and not put their name on it. Schrader is a man of honor and I respect him even more for keeping that secret.
James Scully I still remember watching Kenny waving to the safety crew to hurry to the scene, then turn around and stumble away. Right then I knew Dale was hurt really bad and I was sick to my stomach. I thought about how horrible it must’ve been for him to see his friend in a condition I can’t even think about. God bless you Kenny and Jr. for that. Been a long time coming.

Not only is Schrader a REAL RACE CAR DRIVE, his IS A REAL HUMAN BEING which IS MORE IMPORTANT TO ME. He comes from the time when these guys raced HARD and sometimes LIVED EVEN HARDER. Every time I watch a clip it's the best podcast I've ever seen. So, go good and entertaining. This is why podcast can be the best form of entertainment around.
Wow, that’s the most emotional thing I’ve ever heard Jr say, it was well said, and you can see the pain in Kenny’s eyes, and the expression on Jrs face, this is true friendship and loyalty to the highest point, it takes a man to say what Jr said, and you can see the pain, the respect, and the love between two friends. God bless the Earnhardt family and the Schrader family
I've always loved Schrader so much. He's one of the more underrated legends the sport has had. His stories, his humor and even his levity dealing with difficult stuff has always been appreciated. You're just plain awesome Kenny!
@@RawJa777 Kenny was THE guy that NEEDED to be the one. There was a ton of respect off track between those two, to the point that Dale trusted him with his son for a week on the road. Kenny kept his mouth shut on the TV interview right after, never told a soul about what he saw inside that race car and has done nothing but support that family ever since that day (and frankly before)... If it had been a younger driver, we wouldn't have had that. And it's not their fault, they didn't have that relationship with Dale and his family. But Kenny did, and that's one of the very small blessings in disguise of that tragedy.
@@FloridaManRacer Totally agree. It's almost unfathomable that it was Kenny who was involved and it is indicative of his character that he has resisted the urge to share details. It's really nobody's business - I say that as I'm thinking about it and talking with a stranger about it. Crazy. Dale Earnhardt was my best friend's favorite driver - I was a Ford guy and rooted against him my whole life. Didn't like the way he drove either...thought he was dirty. It was really hard when he died though and, to tell you the truth, felt like my childhood died a little that day too. Nascar has never really been the same.
I really hope Kenny Schrader "grows up" to the be Betty White of NASCAR. Just a sweetheart of a man who loves the sport of racing and all the really unique and cool people who are a part of it. I hope he never stops telling these awesome stories.
I feel so bad for Ken, knowing how close him and Earnhardt were, and having him be the first one to the car after the accident just kills me because you know what he saw in that car wasn't good. I think he knew when he saw him that he wasn't gonna make it. I still remember the night it happened, I was home by myself, my parents were at a friend's house watching the 500. We had dial up internet and I spent 30 minutes trying to find updates on his condition before they said he had passed. I called my mom and told her and I heard her telling the folks around her that he didn't make it and hearing all those adults just break down still gets to me. As far back as I can remember we were an Earnhardt family to the core. My dad passed 2 weeks ago and it makes me feel a little better than he gets to see Dale again now
There are 2 moments in my life where I remember where I was at when something happened. One was 9/11 the other was when I heard “we lost Dale Earnhardt”.
@@justinking332 yep. 2001 was officially the death of America as we knew her. Dale was the embodiment of an American mythical legend, and when he died, a large part of America’s soul died as well. 9/11 was the final blow. Now we live in the throes of a new world order. The future is so bright…
There are very few people that I personally do not know that make the world a better place by their presence, Ken Schrader is one of them. To me, he is the embodiment of a true American and has had my respect from the first day I knew of him, thank you, Ken Schrader.
It’s been such a beautiful thing to see Jr get so much closure over the past couple years with the guests he’s had on this podcast. This was absolutely the most requested guest and it didn’t disappoint. Kenny Schrader will always be one of the most respected racers In Motorsports history
Anyone who has followed the sport since the early 80s knows Schrader was a far better race car driver than his statistics show! Even more he was a real funny guy in the garage area everyone liked him he was quite the jokester
i think what a lot of people miss is that most of the cup guys back then were the GOATS of their area, they were the best late model guy, the best legend car guy, etc... it was like cup brought together an all star race of champs every single week. I grew up thinking guys like schrader, mast, gant, ward burton, etc.. were just garbage, when they were amazing with what they had to work with.
While we all know Kenny has been an "Adult Male" for quite a while now, when a he and a bunch of his old buddies get together for an interview, the stories start coming... He gets a twinkle in his eye and you just know he's gonna do something that'll break up the group. In spite of whatever age is on his driver's license, he seems like a mischievous little kid who will never grow up. I can't imagine not having a really good time, sitting in a group around a campfire with Kenny there... oh, and maybe a "barley-pop or two!!" ;^)
couldn't agree more... I grew up with Schrader being my driver, all time favorite. His statistics do him no justice at all, I remember at least 5 more races that he should of won. That man had some horrible, horrible luck in the cup series
Thing about Schrader was he could drive any type of vehicle and be competitive (modified, sprint car, etc.). He was the swiss army knife of race car drivers.
Kenny is a true friend. Very humble. I always liked him as a person and a racer. I can't imagine what he saw that terrible day and relives it alot I'm sure. God bless you Kenny
I was glad they included the ending in this video. I saw the TV show on Wednesday and was blown away by the emotion of this moment. Schrader has always been one of the most respected and beloved drivers in the industry and everyone always has nothing but great things to say about him. The fact that he will have to carry the memory of being the first to Dale Sr's car that day and seeing what he saw for the rest of his life, and how much Junior appreciates him for his discretion and friendship says volumes.
He'll never unsee or forget that crash with Sr. and the moments after. He's a strong man to be able to talk with Jr. about it and it's not hard to see why Kenny and Sr. we're friends, nor hard to see what Kenny and Jr. got. I lost my fiancé and best friend to two people who beat her to death in her own home, I'll never get to unsee her in the hospital in that induced coma before she passed. We're just strong by talking about it and being able to carry on and never lose what made us .. us.
I was in a car accident with my family and lost both parents and a brother, my surviving siblings both have amnesia from that day but I was awake for all of it, and I remember it vividly even after soon to be 40 years. I have never shared with a soul what I saw and I never will though it haunts me and gives me PTSD. I say that to say this, Ken remembers, but somethings should not be seen, he carries that as do I, because it's our burden to carry. Jr. Knows...and I respect him for acknowledging it live like that. Ken deserved to hear it.
Ken Schrader is a treasure, a gentlemen and then a racer! One of about 10 drivers who are idolized by other legendary drivers! He has earned the title of legend!
Kenny is such a class act. I can’t imagine what it’s like for him to keep that image of Dale & what he saw after the accident at Daytona. Strong Person
IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME!! Just in case anyone out there doesn't realize it, that right there is the genuine article. Schrader IS American racing. Might as well call him "godfather" or royalty. Add to that he's a genuine good guy and it's just perfect. BTW Jr., this is the first time I've heard part of your letter to Kenny. Well done, sir. Mama would be proud. I'm sure the rest of those close around you already are.
Kenny Schrader is my favorite NASCAR character of all time. It was guys just like him that shepherded my through my crazier years and I owe the world to them. I’d expect Jr feels sort of the same way. This world needs a lot more Kenny Schraders.
Went from laughing to weeping to smiling. What a conversation to have watched. I am 44 years old,I'm from a nascar family the day it happened and it was announced he was dead my mom cried with me because Dale sr. was my hero. He was the thing me an my dad bonded over each weekend. I couldn't imagine what it was like for the 1st and 2nd place driver seeing this unfold before their eyes. Seeing their owner and father to one pass away this way. And for a close friend to see also. It would be terrible, I could never imagine .😔

The man the legend Kenny Schrader.. thank you so very much for being part of this broadcast... to everyone else a tremendous THANK YOU for having him on
Was able to meet Schrader on several occasions and he is the nicest man you will ever meet. Always took the time to have a conversation with me no matter how busy he was. One of my greatest memories was meeting him at an Oakwood Homes event in Dover Delaware in 91. I was at the race at Dover where he won his final cup race and was able to sneak into winners circle to watch him and his team celebrate. I remember him looking over to me and my dad and giving us a thumbs up. I was 12 years old and will never forget that day
Mr.Kenny, You my friend are the Angel that Dale Sr. Sent to be in Junebugs life. It is a very small world. Thanks for still putting your butt in the seat and we'll see y'all on the track.
I could listen to Jr talk to Schrader every day.. We miss you Jr... Y’all are both a class act.. Been almost 20 years since the 500 and it feels like yesterday.. You are eternally missed 3...RIP good sir..
I hope they all know just how much these stories mean to people.. even the little things.. ken is amazing and a hero ...hope it goes on for a long time
He does this better than the live TV racing, I prefer to watch Jr on this like this 3 day's a week. He's great on this stuff. Kenny was special on here yesterday, it's gonna go down as the best one yet. Oh yeah Dale Jr. Don't want the wife to see this or hear this, now my memory has gone to the bad place, when all the strippers cum out to you, you know what goes down, yup and it wasn't huns going down now, then your drinking with Carl Edwards dad, that's also pretty cool. I'd rather here stories like this than watch him broadcast live NASCAR. This should be on live every week before each RACE with guests to come, there's over a 100,000 stories easy I bet. This can help NASCAR with TV watching but also have this live in public so the fans can see it live too, I bet many would buy tickets just to see this at many places. Also you must bring Kenny back on, he's great interviewer, he opened up Dale like I've never seen before. Kenny and Dale has a great relationship and brings the life to Dale Jr like he once was before, this is the Jr I remember now. Awesome Job !
Wow Jr., you got a tear in my eye over your words for Schrader. I watched that wreck on TV like so many others did. Rooting for your dad on race day was the common bond between me and my dad at that time. I lost my father this past July. Though we never agreed on much, I know that not much would have been said between us had he heard your words for Schrader. You said what was in both our hearts and there's no point to arguing about it. Plus we would have had a laugh or two on the other stories told. Thank you.
The last 30 seconds brought tears to my eyes. It’s hard to understand how you admire someone you’ve never met but I admire you Dale Jr. and you too Kenny Schrader! Kenny I hope JR’s words to you bring you peace.
He used to do local races every now and then when I was a kid. Tracks out in the middle of nowhere that no other Cup driver would ever bat an eye at. I remember as a kid how cool that was, seeing a guy I had seen race on TV come to my little track with 500 people in the stands. I'll always respect him for that... He never forgot where he came from and has always had respect for grassroots racing.
Even in the 2010s he would occasionally run an ARCA or Truck race at a small track, and of course his ARCA team has helped start the careers of many young short trackers
I spoke briefly with Mr. Schrader at a track in Bloomfield, Iowa. He was going from track to track with his friends and racing. When we spoke, he was by himself, just leaning against a car. We said hi and chatted for a bit. Very, very nice guy! Very approachable and easy to talk to....thank you, Mr. Schrader for taking the time...
This was a beautiful segment. Good laughs, pained tears, and a sweet relief laugh at the end. Damn, that messed me up WAY more than I thought it would.
I'm about dale's age, lost my dad a few years back, we used to play music on the weekends when I was growing up, this story really hit home about me and some of my dad's friends, I was laughing and crying at the same time, god bless ya'll folks, thanks
Alan - I hear you loud and clear. My Dad never understood why I liked watching cars turn left at 180 mph every weekend...even when I was four, but he let me watch. We don't race in this family, and I and barely turn a nut the right direction. Dad was my man. I lost him in 2018. Best advice I never got as a 20 year old cocksure young man: "Don't talk to him; don't breathe on him". Kenny Schrader is a treasure. I love seeing Dale Jr get some closure. It brings me some, too. Bless you all.

I miss the show with Bestwick, Schrader, Mikey and Benson that was on Speed back in the late 90's. I used to tape it on the VCR so I could watch it that night during college. :-)
Inside Winston Cup is the show you speak of. It was usually a hilarious recap of the previous weekend's race with all three drivers masterfully laughing at themselves and the other on track incidents. Kenny Wallace guesting on the show took it to another level. One of the funniest things on the show I recall was Schrader describing the scene as he put the 36 M&Ms car on its roof and slid for a long distance. He says "Here's where I turn the M&M car into the W&W car" I remember howling at that comment.....
@@9alerix My favorite from Kenny in one of the episodes was when they were showing the replays of the race, and someone had spun, and Kenny ended up spinning as well in the caution... "My spotter told me, "spin in 1", so i did...."

Miss Dale Sr very much and I truly believe things would be very different today if he were still around. Keep up the great work and thank you very much for having Schrader on.

I have been getting into these pods and this one gets close to me. When Dale talks about his dad's death and what it meant to him that Ken was there, it really does hit the core. Listening to Dale, I realize he is a true guy and that there's nothing wrong in sharing ones feelings in the open. You're tops, Dale, thanks for all you do.
Hands down, the best Dale Jr podcast I've seen. Great stories from a great friend of the GOAT, even acknowledging the moment we wish never happened. I just found this podcast series. I’ve been away from NASCAR for a long time for various reasons not to be discussed here. Kenny was, and still is my hero of the sport. A gentleman racer all the way around. I feel as though I was sitting at that table too chatting with old long lost friends. Thank you, Dale. Thank you Ken. I’ve missed you.
At 13:40 my nerves got tense and there went the emotion, damn that really hit me. True friendship and loyalty at it's best right there and wow how those last 2 minutes completely made a huge 360 turn on this episode. That was beautifully written and well said about complete respect for one another about a friendship.
Thank you Kenny Schrader for being the man of honor that you are,and a true friend to the Earnhardt family, the burden you carry is enormous, The last tragic moments of a legends life. I'm a CPA. Years ago, the CEO of an audit client had previously worked as an accountant for the Hendrick organization. He had a picture on his wall of the 1994 (I think) driver lineup consisting of Terry Labonte, Jeff Gordon, and Ken Schrader. He told me about once attending an outdoor picnic-type event for Hendrick employees and families. He said that Labonte and Gordon were surrounded the entire time but he and his wife were with the Schraders for awhile. He would totally agree with the other comments here about how nice Ken was.

Really shook Kenny up and will for the rest of his life so it had to be a bad scene to see. To know instantly that Dale Sr was in trouble and that no amount of help can come faster than fast and that it was not good at all. Injuries that you can’t walk away from. Media: you're making fun of people with only one thumb!
Kenny gives it 1 and a half thumbs up!
Vincent Pellegrino, I agree with you on this
Every time I watch a clip it's the best podcast I've ever seen.
Extremely well spoken sir, i tip my hat to you, i've no doubt you are a man of honor...
Well said Pete. I keep watching this even though I've seen it alot
Amen
I've always loved Schrader so much. He's one of the more underrated legends the sport has had. His stories, his humor and even his levity dealing with difficult stuff has always been appreciated. You're just plain awesome Kenny!
Schrader is one of a kind, loyal to the sport and a real throwback in so many ways
I loved listening to Schrader on Inside Winston Cup back in the day.
Dale Jr: ..."I'm glad it was you."
Kenny:... (Fights back tears)
Me: 😭(As a fan who cheered for Dale, me too)
Bingo, nailed it.
I saw Kenny's face after that and I immediately started crying.
I didn't cheer for Dale. I didn't like him. I hear ya though...fighting back tears as I type this.
Kenny might get older, but there's a part of him that will never grow up.....and thank God for that. Part of what makes him so damn entertaining.
@@redbovine crazy they both happened the same year.
@@justinking332 yep. 2001 was officially the death of America as we knew her.
Dale was the embodiment of an American mythical legend, and when he died, a large part of America’s soul died as well.
9/11 was the final blow. Now we live in the throes of a new world order. The future is so bright…
❤
Literally 1 of the 2 times in 38 years i seen my daddy cry. He cried when my mommas daddy died. And when SR died.
That folks is true friendship. One in which will never die. A bond that won’t be broken. So glad he was finally on the show
Hell yeah that was awesome. Wish that could've been 3hrs of them talking..
Dale Jr. and Schrader .... a couple of class guys right there . Powerful and emotion filled last few minutes of this episode .
RIP 3
Amen 👍 amen 👍 ✝️
Anyone who has followed the sport since the early 80s knows Schrader was a far better race car driver than his statistics show! Even more he was a real funny guy in the garage area everyone liked him he was quite the jokester
Yep. Ask ANY of the short track aces of that era in any state how good Schrader was. A real professional and better man.
i think what a lot of people miss is that most of the cup guys back then were the GOATS of their area, they were the best late model guy, the best legend car guy, etc... it was like cup brought together an all star race of champs every single week.
That last part hit me straight in the heart...wish I had a friend like Kenny Schrader.
I'm not crying, you're crying.
YEAH!
Right when the wife walks in, "What are you crying about?". Rewound to the start of that part, got her too.
Get out of my head!
WE'RE ***
We are all crying
Ken Schrader is a treasure, a gentlemen and then a racer! One of about 10 drivers who are idolized by other legendary drivers! He has earned the title of legend!
A couple class act human beings here, plain and simple.
I can literally listen and watch this clip a dozen times...Schrader fan since ‘84....thanks junior!!....🇺🇸🤙🏼
3 rip...... 8 moved on... 88 ..retired .... but never stopped ... liven a Earnhardt life I am... keep posting.. I'll keep intimidating like 3 ........dude boy jr. thanks for the job u do... thanks ..
Amen
Also 8/88 rip because of Dale’s father
You're not typing shorthand , You're not texting quickly. You typed out all the words and then got lazy with a " U" . I don't mean any disrespect but I don't understand why You can't spell " You " . Signed .....the local idiot grammmer nazi .
The man the legend Kenny Schrader.. thank you so very much for being part of this broadcast... to everyone else a tremendous THANK YOU for having him on
Schrader still amazes me.....Keep the shiny side up Kenny.
Ken Schraeder? Seriously, a working man's legend. Thank you kindly for sharing him with us.
What a wonderful, heartwarming way to end that interview. Always knew Kenny was special to you. Just didn't know how much. Thank you for sharing.
I could listen to Ken Schrader stories all day, hell of a man.
Frickin GOLD!! I could listen to those two talk for weeks!!
I could listen to Jr talk to Schrader every day.. We miss you Jr... Y’all are both a class act.. Been almost 20 years since the 500 and it feels like yesterday.. You are eternally missed 3...RIP good sir..
Last part is just perfect, beautiful, thoughtful and touching, nice one Jr and Kenny
I hope they all know just how much these stories mean to people.. even the little things.. ken is amazing and a hero ...hope it goes on for a long time
I watch so many of these podcasts with a smile on my face. Great job Dale Jr.
Thank you.
There are no more genuine people out there than the guys at this table. Continually thankful that they’re willing to share their lives with all of us.
I’m very proud of DJ for just getting the words out. His hands were shacking, and I know that was hard. Kenny loves him very much!
DJ I’m so very impressed with you and how deep you run. Not a dry eye in the room my friend. God bless you and Kenny and all your families. C
At this point I truly believe this has been my favorite Dale Jr podcast.
Laughs and tears, Laughs and tears,
Thank you.
Finally Schrader. I've been waiting for this. Kenny's a real racer
… but even more importantly, a real man!
Dang. That brought tears to my eyes. Love Kenny Schrader...
Class and integrity. Need more men like him in this world.
I tip my hat to you Mr Schrader. Thank you for sharing this story Jr.
I could listen too Ken’s stories all day
This was a beautiful segment.
@@teebob21 yeah, my dad was a heavy machine operator raised on a farm, started teaching me how to drive big trucks when I was @3, used to watch Bill Eliot and Harry Gant and them race on Sundays, whole 'nother time, ah the day's
Kenny Schrader is one of the best people you'll ever meet. Glad they finally got him on the show!
Ken Schrader is such a respected gentleman. And I think Dale is really coming into his own as an interviewer.
DALE, THANKS YOU SO MUCH FOR TALKING ABOUT THIS WITH KENNY!!! THAT IS A GREAT HEALING THING AND FOR YOU TO DO THAT SHOWS WHAT A GREAT MAN YOU ARE!!! IM SURE IT WAS GOOD FOR KENNY AND EVERY RACE FAN THAT HEARD THIS ! THANKS YOU!!!
I watch this from time to time. It is the greatest story ever told.
Thanks for getting Kenny on , Best short track racer and true Racer ever Wheel Man
You are blessed to have a great friend like ken...hes a great Racecar driver..he has alot of years in the sport...I watched him since the 70s...and he loved your Dad too....
When Kenny said "dont mess me up", it messed me up.
Same here glad Jr waited until the end to read the note he wrote for kenny.
It messed all of us up
rodrik I’m not afraid to admit the tears fell here for sure
Watered me up like a lawn sprinkler. Kenny’s damn lip quivering got me...
That was good stuff, Man.
I miss the show with Bestwick, Schrader, Mikey and Benson that was on Speed back in the late 90's. I used to tape it on the VCR so I could watch it that night during college. :-)
GoHerd2001 same here
Benson's an underrated guy. Always liked him.
Funniest racing show ever
@@9alerix My favorite from Kenny in one of the episodes was when they were showing the replays of the race, and someone had spun, and Kenny ended up spinning as well in the caution...
"My spotter told me, "spin in 1", so i did...."
Man Jr, what an awesome moment between you and Kenny, that was very real and very touching for you to share that moment with us, thank you!! Kenny Schrader is a legend in my book and always will be. I love this show so much but this was one of the best moments ever!! Thank you so much for this show and keeping racing close to us!!!
Kenny Schrader and Rick Mears are my two all time favorite drivers. Thanks to both of you for all the great memories.
Junior, I want to thank you for this special episode. I know it's been on many peoples wishes for this one to happen. I don't think you could have made it any more special. While I've never met Kenny or your dad they were much of what we're missing today. I miss the old days very much so being able to relive this stuff is very gratifying even though some was bad. Miss Dale Sr very much and I truly believe things would be very different today if he were still around. Keep up the great work and thank you very much for having Schrader on.
Really love this episode as it is the real side of racing.. Dale you are a true person and it's great to see it. Schrader is a great person and is admired for keeping things close to the vest. I was there that day and it will always be a part of all of us.
We've all been looking forward to this one!
I almost cried looking at the pain in Kenny's face 😩
Always liked Ken Schrader , great interview dale
Best show yet! As somebody who lost their father out of no where. I can some what relate to jr. The trying to get closure, the stories people tell about him, etc. This was a awesome watch. There will only be one Dale sr. Hats off to Kenny for what he did!
Oh man...tears. I've always loved kenny....💜💜
I think this is one of the best moments of the healing. Thank you Dale for sharing these moments with the world!
Kenny is my fav driver, always has good stories to tell, thanks Jr...
Ken Schraeder is the epitome of what it means to be a good soul.
God bless you Kenny
I have been getting into these pods and this one gets close to me. When Dale talks about his dad's death and what it meant to him that Ken was there, it really does hit the core. Listening to Dale, I realize he is a true guy and that there's nothing wrong in sharing ones feelings in the open. You're tops, Dale, thanks for all you do.
Hands down, the best Dale Jr podcast I've seen. Great stories from a great friend of the GOAT, even acknowledging the moment we wish never happened. Ken has always chosen his words very carefully when asked about that terrible day and has been a class act in maintaining the dignity of The Intimidator.
Ken Schrader is a national treasure. This interview was awesome, and the serious part at the end was really touching. Thank you so much for sharing this.
Listening to this conversation and seeing how much Schrader truly cares for Jr. is awesome. To have that kind of bonding experience with a racing legend would be literally a dream come true.
I’ve been waiting for this interview and you didn’t disappoint. Schrader is a class act, a true professional and one hell of a guy. It’s unfortunate that he has carry the burden you mentioned, but I agree there couldn’t be anyone better to do so. God bless you Mr. Schrader and keep on racin’. Great job Dirty Mo!!
With out a doubt one of the best episodes so far. Funny, sad and so revealing. Love Ken Schrader and you Jr.
Schrader is a national treasure...hands down one of the best all around racers and good guy there is in the sport...every one could take a lesson from him in humility
I’ve never seen Junior that close to crying.
Just love Jr. and Ken, what absolutely genuine, stand up, down to earth amazing people!
A scene all his true fans would not want to carry in their minds. We want to remember Dale Sr as a hard a** Intimidator of a man n one of the best race car drivers on the planet. As the loved ones of the dearly departed it's our job to hold certain truths to our hearts and minds , we all carry that burden of the loved ones we've lost. Kenny Schrader does it well.
I almost started crying listening to this they both had gone through pain since that had happened and im glad that they talk to each other and are great friends
That’s been a long time coming and those two men needed that just as much as The fans did if not more ❤️
Jr, I have always been a fan of yours, was a fan of your father and of Ken. Jr, I don't have the words to explain how much respect I have for you and you took it up another notch. Thanks for sharing this clip with the world.
I’m crying. Beautiful words for Kenny Shrader. I think what Kenny seen when he looked in that window of Dale Sr race car that day was something that was truly hard to see. Really shook Kenny up and will for the rest of his life so it had to be a bad scene to see. To know instantly that Dale Sr was in trouble and that no amount of help can come faster than fast and that it was not good at all. Injuries that you can’t walk away from. Kenny Shrader is a good guy. Glad he was there for Dale Jr and Dale Sr too.
Thank you Kenny!! You are a true Friend to Jr. We all love and respect you. I along with every fan, we cannot imagine what you saw that day. Also how you had to tell Mikey. You are a true and caring person. God bless you Kenny.
Kenny may not be in the top 5 greatest drivers all time but he's definitely top 5 greatest personalities of all time in NASCAR.
Agreed
What a great story, both JR AND Kenny are legendary
