Youve seen the movie rockstar? Its based off my cousins band steelheart. In the movie their called steel dragon, with mark wahlberg, Jennifer Aniston, jeff Pilson, zakk wylde, john bonham, and the dude from Steel panther. That being said my cousin was their manager, were all based out of Greenwich and Darien CT. I was born in Norwalk CT. In the movie version Mark is better than the original singer! Just took time and practice to adjust to rockstar life!
@@chrisdigiorgi2915 I love steelheart...I've always felt they missed the train by a couple of years!! If they came out 3 to 5yrs before they did....they would have been superstars!!!!
This is an absolutely remarkable transformation in just a couple of years! La Torre has arguably exhumed the band from a slow death and has injected a passion into their music we have not heard or seen since the 80's. This band is running on full steam - both live and in the studio, and I'm so excited to hear their next release!!!
Yes. I agree. Listening to the band the last several years has been depressing. Tate's vocals suck. This Todd guy? I really Dont care if he's ripping off tates sound. At least he can hit the high notes. Sounds like The Warning era all over again.
As a Jamaican, I have not really being exposed to this type of music but I must say I have being enjoying the ones uploaded in the last weeks. I like the energy, the guitars and the drumming it great.

Ty Todd! Not a small feature! I wish I could see it live... I saw QR in Italy years ago, great concert, but this is my fav song from QR catalogue and it was missing from the list. I would scream as loud as I can if you guys come back to Italy again!
I saw them live about a month ago, they were headlining a sort of mini-festival alongside Slaughter, Quiet Riot, and Poison. They didn't play this song but sweet Jesus everything they did play was absolutely incredible and blew any competition out of the water. They still rock, their live sound is mind-blowing.
They lost the real meaning of what the band wanted to acomplish with their music when they fired tate.. if you actually listen to the old songs they were about real life shit, silent lucidity talks about when someone's gone from this word, is someone listening talks about the coruption of the government, eyes of a stranger talks about look in the mirror and being honest with yourself alot of other songs they have have deeper meaning the way the band is now they lost what was important the message within the music
True. They lost quite a lot lyrical insight with the loss of Tate, but that doesn't mean they're not still loads of fun live. I haven't heard their latest album yet though, I still have to go give it a listen
Just amazing.. Todd, you revitalized this great band as well as my interest in Queensryche. Thank you. The show you did at the Surf Ballroom with Stryper in Clear Lake, IA was awesome. Thank you, Queensryche, for coming to such a small, though historic, venue!

The first time I saw Queensryche was in 2000 opening for Maiden. I've seen them a bunch since. I have to say this is so much faster than any of the times I saw Geoff perform this. And I'm not hear to knock Geoff, I just think for 2014 Todd might be what the band needs. Geoff had been taking the band in a strange direction for a while.
the band sounds incredible, the classics of this super band are sung in an incredible way like silent lucidity, take hold the flame, warning, lady black more and empire

After they parted ways with singer Geoff Tate, Wilton reached out about the open spot, and LaTorre humbly obliged, accepting his invitation. Instantly, the musicians harnessed a raw vitality they hadn’t felt in years. “It was like an injection of energy,” enthuses Rockenfield. “He brings a new perspective to what we do from both a musical and vocal standpoint. He’s a drummer himself, and he can give suggestions on the actual music. We can do things we couldn’t do in the past with him.”
I actually have that Lp and only reason I bought it was there logo. I had never heard them before that and that was the first song..I've been hooked ever since
I bought that 206 EP ..from that rekkid joint Paul Passerrili worked at..82...83...same night I bought Culprit...The Effigies...great days. Kirk Verhey bought Venom I think..
Tate's early work made him my favorite vocalist in metal history. The clarity, range and power of his voice when he was young was just untouchable in my opinion. Having written that I'm truly impressed with Todd's work on this live video. Queensryche hasn't been the same since the eighties and early 90's but I am thankful they've persevered and have found a vocalist who can do justice to some incredibly difficult songs.
Wow! Todd La Torre is the best replacement for Geoff Tate that Queensryche could ever hope to find! He's hitting pitches that Geoff could never pull off at this time in his career. Brilliant! The new Queensrych is spot on! Guys, welcome back!

I have told Whip to his face these same things at last years NAMM: Fuck words, Let The Music Do The Talking.
I am not a great fan of this new Queensryche setup but still fan of the music produced before the departure of De Garmo. But I have to admit that Todd sang this song without a single false note. Well done to him.
Todd has NOWHERE near the onstage charisma of Geoff, but his voice holds up and saves the day. It’s like watching your Dad walk out and now you have a stepdad that’s less cool but does an alright job.

I saw these guys in the summer of 1983 in Portland Oregon play this. They dressed like Stryper with hairspray, spandex, it was epic as shit and semi-comical. They opened for a prog trio called Zebra. Little did I know who I was seeing!!! The show cost $1.00
June 29, 1983 (Portland Paramount Theater) Their first live performance EVER as Queensryche. I was there, too (specifically to see them). I DID KNOW who I was seeing. :-)
Seth V-K Zebra kicked ass. Queensryche was good but my brain was not prepared for the intensity. We watched half the show and then walked out and waited for Zebra. I was totally unimpressed by Geoff Tate's bravado and theatrics and I hate fucking hairspray and makeup dudes unless you're Ozzy or Alice Creeper. LOL, man I'm a snob hahahha!!!!
I joined The Ryche in 1985 when I saw them open for Iron Maiden. Mindcrime will forever be one of my favorite albums ever. The band aged and admittedly, my interests took my elsewhere. I checked out from The Ryche in 1996 after Promised Land. In retrospect, I can see things much more clearly now than I did at the time. When they released Promised Land I was furious that yet another band from my youth had dramatically departed from their signature sound and I wasn't going any further. 25 something years later and I see now that if they had retained their sound...they would have NO sound because their label EMI would likely not have published anything that was not an evolved sound. They altered their sound to meet the shifting market and stay viable. I had not heard Todd Latorre sing until 5 minutes before posting this and as a long time fan of the band I just wanted to take a moment and acknowledge his ability, talent and no doubt a great deal of dedication and hard work. There are 3 singers in the history of rock whose voices are so amazing, so unique and so special that the mere mention of someone daring to utter, "Yeah, I'm going to join that band and sing those songs..." is nothing short of blasphemous. Those 3 voices are Robert Plant, Freddie Mercury and of course...our beloved Geoff Tate. And yet here we are and Todd Latorre is not only honoring and respecting these great, great Queensryche songs...he has made them his own in a way. Is he equal to Geoff Tate? Who is better? My choice would be to have Geoff back in Queensryche. Sadly, it's looking like that will never happen but a boy can always dream. Until then, Todd is more than capable of carrying the banner and waving it proudly. For those of us who were there from the early days, for those of here now and for those of us yet to come...Hail The Ryche!
This is like watching a tribute band. Sure he can possibly hit Geoff Tate Notes through screaming which is a hell of a lot different than actually singing....big difference! He can't sustain the note though as it's very short lived. Time for them to start making their own music. If I want real Queensryche I'll listen to the original real stuff...Tate already traveled this road and Todd is a singer for hire. He's 12-13 years younger than Tate and hasn't even come close to the amount of shows under his belt in comparison to Tate. I agree Tate can no longer sing but how can a fair comparison be made? It's like saying the old Rob Halford cant sing like the younger one can....well no shit!
At the end of the day, the question is this: would it be better to go to a Queensryche show in 2018 with Tate singing or with La Torre singing? And the answer is, obviously, "with LaTorre singing". And live shows aside, Tate's influence was clearly destroying the band, as the new music they've made since Todd joined has been leaps and bounds better than the stuff they vomited out post-Empire (with the exception of OM:II). As far as most of us are concerned, LaTorre saved Queensryche.
AWESOME JOB TODD!!!! I THOUGHT TATE WAS ONE OF THE BEST SINGERS FROM THE 80'S...BUT THERE IS NO FUCKING WAY TATE COULD SING THIS SONG LIKE THIS DUDE NOW......................KEEP ROCKING QR................

In the dead of night
She'll come and take you away
Searing beams of light and thunder
Over blackened plains
She will find her way
Flying high through the night
She will hide your fate
As she takes your soul from under
And the blinding light of the castle fades
There is no escape
It's the ending of your precious life
Your soul slipped away
It belongs to the Queen of the Reich
The Queen of the Reich
Yeah she's coming for you
You're fading away
Your life cast astray
A victim the beast shall obtain
The light will not shine
For you'll die tonight at her shrine
And black is the last thing you'll see
Over and over
Dreams of dying fill your head
It's the sign of the cross
That you'll find ahead
No one will answer
The light is fading away
Captive souls are screaming out in pain
There is no escape
It's the ending of your precious life
Your soul slipped away
It belongs to the Queen of the Reich
You're fading away, no, no, no
The Queen of the Reich

almost as good as Geoff Tate. Great, it's good that a younger generation keep the great songs alive.
Nice to see the fans supporting the music : )
They are enjoying the music!
the dual guitar work of Whip and Parker meshes well!!
Great cover band
I've been a fan since their first ep, and I am very impressed!!!
I still have it...
Thanks for the new music Queensryche!
Love it!! Todd nailed it!!
Here in 2021 for the best singer in metal and the best band on the planet
AWESOME JOB TODD!!!! I THOUGHT TATE WAS ONE OF THE BEST SINGERS FROM THE 80'S...BUT THERE IS NO FUCKING WAY TATE COULD SING THIS SONG LIKE THIS DUDE NOW......................KEEP ROCKING QR................
Has anyone else noticed that Parker Lundgren's Gibson SG keeps changing color, from black to white, several times in this video? Slick editing job, though!
bad ass. you guys sound awsome.i remember when my band White Eagle opened for you back in early 80sbut great show
