I feel like that’s pretty accurate. Especially looking at old interviews, it was always Chris and Geoff together & Chris taking the lead with the answers. I’ll say this. I don’t care why Chris left or why Geoff was fired or why Scott disappeared but what I will say is that I just can’t get into the LaTorr fronted version or Tate’s new stuff. Just makes me miss the Original Queensryche days. Nothing against either current bands, I’m just not feeling them now. This man here deserves way more credit for his Bass riffs though. Truly one of the best bassists out there!
Without Tate its a cover band. You can't have a band with so much focus on vocal and then take that part out of the equation and expect to hear the same sound. Very similar to Quiet Riot and what they're trying to do now. I can appreciate the cover.
Had Eddie sign my Warning and Rage for Order albums behind HOB in Myrtle Beach, S.C. All their shows I've seen were fantastic. My first was them open for Ozzy on Rage/Ultimate Sin your, Fayetteville, N.C., 1986.
sadly I saw them decline with the stage presence loss of Chris and then Geoff and although the new guys can play/sing , their stage shows are dead, but man I enjoyed seeing the original line-up
@@guitarplayer1434 i've seen both lineups live,. I saw the original lineup (minus Chris) on the OM II tour-they sucked. I've seen the new line up with Todd twice and they lit up the room both times. everyone was singing every word and there was amazing energy on and off stage. Perhaps you caught them on a bad night?
All due respect but “Original line up without Chris” is akin to saying original line up without Freddy, or original line up without Satriani, etc. Chris and Geoff were Queensryches main writers, lyrically, musically and performance wise Chris was the man guitar and vocals.
TSD M, I am sure Micheal has plenty of credits, wrote his lead parts and chimed in plenty. but I saw them from EP days and when Chris left no way could Michael play Chris’s parts or sing his harmonies much less create those parts. It was night and day. Michael was lost for awhile but phoning it in, and he got better covering chris’s leads. It was blatantly obvious from front row. All good, the guy is a cool dude and great guitar player but Chris was the super talent.. and Geoff and Rocky. Michael and Eddie fit in great, but not next level super creative talents. Just my opinion from front row every tour for years and years. Have a good one.
The Warning is one of the greatest debut albums ever! This is a vocal masterpiece. No other singer has a Take Hold of the flame ! Roads to Madness are some of the greatest vocals ever.Nobody has ever demonstrated their vocal range better than Geoff Tate did.He song notes I've never heard.P.s Not 1 God dam singer can sing Take hold of the flame! NOBODY CAN DUPLICATE HIS VOCALS! EVERYONE WHO TRIES TO SING TAKE HOLD OF THE FLAME FAILS! WITH ALL DUE RESPECT. WITH NO GEOFF TATE,NO CHRIS DEGARMO,SCOTT ROCKENFIELD THIS BAND IS LEGALLY DEAD
Phenomenal bass player. I absolutely love his sound. Filling in the gaps between Wilton and DeGarmo is no easy feat, filling in the gaps AND playing up front and having that bottom end presence is something entirely different. An incredibly unsung hero. As much a I love the early days, the EP being one of my all times…Promised Land is a masterpiece imo. Definitely a bit different but damn can you sink your teeth into that album and it just gets deeper as you go. His bass playing on the title track makes me want to plug my bass in and go. Not the most technical but it’s the heaviest part of a song and gives Geoff’s lyrics a musical foundation. The lyrics are just…”is this all? Cuz it’s not what I expected!”….Fuck! You feel that one.
Very nice spacing between all three guitarists on I Don't Believe In Love. That whole section from The Needle Lies through the end through the Mindcrime coda, to me, is better than Abbey Road's ending 18 minutes. Unmatched in Metal, imfo.
Glad they all take the high road, but I would love to hear the full story from Chris leaving, to the Scott and Geoff implosion on stage and was it egos wives or the stress of just trying to write music that could hold a candle to the first 6 albums.
Queensryche in their prime was amazing, Rage is my favorite but I didn't get Eddie referring to themselves with Metallica and especially Slayer as a musical movement they shared. Maybe in the most general sense of heavy metal but they certainly were not Thrash. Rage for Order tour was great, visually it was a little cheesy as this was way in the glam era but musically was superb. I met them at a record store meet & greet and they all (except Tate) were very personable, friendly and humble. It was a great show!
Yeah, he seemed pretty confused at times in this interview, saying that Queensryche had three albums and the EP out before Mindcrime when in fact it was only two albums and the EP.
My friends and I met Geoff, Eddie and Scott in a Holiday Inn bar in Mississippi. All were very accommodating, sat with us, took photos. Rage For Order is my favorite, too.
@@crusheverything4449 I think that Geoff is normally a cool person overall and probably friendly with fans the majority of the time. The whole spitting thing was the culmination of years of tension within the band. I'm sure nothing was the same after Chris DeGarmo left.
Geoff Tate is Queensryche and Eddie Jackson whole description of how things went down shows how petty they are to do that to someone they’ve known for 30 years. LaTorre is a joke compared to prime Tate as well cuz Geoff made Queensryche a top band, no one else!
When Eddie started talking about replacing Geoff, his entire demeanor changed. He was choosing his words very carefully, mincing them so as not to implement anything. It's seems quite evident he's trying to structure the story in a way to avoid another law suit with Geoff. Because if it comes out into the open that they had already decided to replace Geoff with Todd before actually firing Geoff, then Geoff can come back with Discovery, nullify the original settlement, and sue once again for even more damages... Possibly even being able to take the band name and a percentage of profits since the settlement. And Sharon and Miranda may be able to join the suit in a wrongful termination claim. Eddie's conspicuous change in demeanor makes it appear that Michael's "solo project" was actually a clandestine audition to replace Geoff before firing him. And that is illegal under federal law. By mincing words and saying very little, Eddie is actually saying a lot... a lot of what he doesn't want to say.
Ghostwriters Anonymous - Complete load of horseshit. It’s all a done deal and has been for years. Spit Boy is shit outta luck. And the word is imply, not implement.
he probably just chose his words carefully because it was a sit-down interview and he knows damn well it will be on UA-cam forever and ever. I am sure he is sick and tired of having to explain the drama over and over again, years after it happened. And yeah, he probably is careful with what he says on the subject since songwriter rights and royalties is a subject that induces intense arousal in lawyers
Really wish you could have covered the three albums HITNF , Q2K and Tribe to get a sense of what they were going through with 80’s metal becoming less popular and then losing Chris. While not my favorite album, Q2K’s Right Side of My Mind is up there with the top songs QR created. It’s a hidden gem in my book.
In my all time top 10, possibly top 5 bands due to the chemistry they had. Geoff is still my favorite singer and De Garmo was something very special. Operation Mindcrime is still in my playlist if I'm on a deserted island.

Thank god I wasn't the only one that noticed, I was going crazy and even pulled up wikipedia to double check, even though I owned all of their releases on cassette and then on cd. He also repeated that mistake at least 2 times during the interview... no clue wtf he was talking about =p I coulda passed it off as him doing what I always did, which is to refer to their first effort as an album (I don't see any real value in making a distinction between EP and album, as a consumer it's just an effing CD of their music either way), but he kept clearly saying yada yada "and also the EP". Who knows, mang.
@@erickknutz5599 Maybe he's taking too many prescription pain pills and is kind of out of it - that's the case with a lot of middle-aged people. His tone on mindcrime and Empire is epic. He is also a good singer.
Totally agree 👏👏🙄
Operation Mindcrime is one of the top 3 rock albums of all time - even now when I listen to it, I just sit in stunned silence at the end. Simply incredible. So glad I saw them on OM tour at their famous London show...just fantastic!
Geoff voice is awesome
" You know? You know? And you know?"
I can't take any more..
Love everything they did in the 80's but rage for order will always be my favorite. It is under rated in my opinion. They get credit for mindcrime and empire but rage to me is the best
There is no Queensryche without Geoff Tate, he can't be replaced.
Amen
I'm glad Eddie and Michael are still working, but without Chris DeGarmo, Geoff Tate, and Scott Rockenfield this band is no longer Queensryche. They should have changed the name. DeGarmo especially, was the glue that held Queensryche together.
The Warning is such an underrated album one of their best and most badass in my opinion
Love watching these. Brings me back to the good times that we all shared!
One of my favorite band and guitar player and song writer, u know it! DeGarmo 🎸
Warning is my favorite album
the picture of the band looks like it was taken at a south Texas rest stop with the palms and the mesquite trees its awesome
The Warning is a fantastic album, I played it constantly back in the 80s.
One of the most under rated Bassists in metal, lays a monster foundation for his band
He’s not doing anything that stands out so he’s not rated for a reason
One of the first acts I ever saw in a club. 37 years later I saw them open for Priest and wow they were excellent.
when deGarmo left the magic was lost... period
Lol. You will never replace Geoff tate....
Oh MAN! Thanks for this! Love Eddie Jackson! First saw him decades ago at L'Amour, a rock club in Brooklyn, NY (The Warning tour), and just the other night here in Cleveland at 'Rocksino' casino! He is a consummate bass player and musician!
L’Amour!!!!! 🤘🏼😆
L’Amour 🤘🏻
Dude is in one of the best rhythm sections in any band ever.
Amen!
Geoff Tate IS Queensryche.
Nope
Listen to Jet City Woman, Spore or Eye 9. Eddie is so underrated!
Met Eddie outside the Spectrum her in Philly before the Empire/Mindcrime show here in Philly....so very nice. signed my poster...he and Jeff PILSON so very underrated...then I was in front of him for 2 hours front row....he is awesome live
Geoff Tate is totally the best vocalist ever. 👍💖
I totally agree with you sister!!

Great interview. Queensryche was my #1 band for a very long time. Lived by the words but since Tate was booted I'm not interested.
May I ask what's your #1 band right now? Or other bands you also enjoy?
Because queensryche has been my #1 band for years, and I was wondering what else I might enjoy

My favorite bass player from the 80's, so underrated.
I've been a big fan since the beginning and I respect each and every one of you guys no matter what direction you all took. You gave me great music to listen to and I thank you all for it. Best of luck to you all. Peace.
Jet city woman bass hook at the start will forever be in my heart threw all time, rock and roll history glad I got too see them with Tate back in 07 I believe @ route 66 casino in New Mexico USA Tesla opened up for them that night 😎💗... Thanks always Sir😎👊
..especially going into verse 2..over Wilton's harmonics. The louder the better.
Nobody can ever replace Geoff Tate
They should call themselves Wilton and friends, degarmo and Tate are Queensryche.
Promised Land is my favorite Queensryche album. PLAY LOUD
Appearantly, there’s an album I have never heard of. As far as I know Mindcrime is the third album, not the fourth. (Around 2.00)
I caught that, too. Maybe it was a botched album project? Another song set that never actually saw the light of day? 😆 Even great musicians collect their own shit pieces.
The EP, The Warning, Rage for order, Mind crime, Empire, Promised land, Hear in the now frontier . Q2k, Tribe...Mindcrime 2..... then it gets hazy for me after that... someone else can take it from here...
They were obviously counting the EP as the first “album”. What’s so difficult about figuring that out?
He said it twice, too. Made it seem that there were two albums between the EP and Rage for Order.
Rage is the best album of all time. Period.
love your passion - but its not even the best Queensryche album (let alone the best album of all time)
It's subjective of course but my favorite one is Mindcrime followed by Rage.
@@MM1717mm Well it's my favourite Queensryche album, and my favourite album of all time too. All subjective of course .☺️
Listen to Tool for the best album of all time.
@@danielhansen6991 Tool is unreal. Love that we have these 2 bands in the same universe, though it is surprising, they are so different.
Queensryche was never the same after DeGarmo split. My thoughts are Chris DeGarmo held Geoff Tate together.
Funny how a band is nothing without SONGS, huh? DeGarmo’s exit was the deathknell.
Mindrcrime is a top ten album of all time!!
@@latentsea I think you need to recheck the songwriting credits on Rage for Order and Operation Mindcrime…
Michael has just as many co-written credits
Great interview with Eddie!
Passion, brother!
@@dowens3781 ok so he mistated something ... which were the other times ??
My friends and I met Geoff, Eddie and Scott in a Holiday Inn bar in Mississippi. All were very accommodating, sat with us, took photos. Rage For Order is my favorite, too.
If Geoff didn’t spit on you, he must have been having a good night.
@@crusheverything4449
I think that Geoff is normally a cool person overall and probably friendly with fans the majority of the time. The whole spitting thing was the culmination of years of tension within the band. I'm sure nothing was the same after Chris DeGarmo left.
The magic of Queensryche is gone forever
No, they opened up for Judas Priest not long ago.
Their new albums have no life to them. OK musically, but just a couple listens and never again....
@@JC-fm9ps so they opened for Judas Priest I bet the former fans only watched Priest
After they got rid of Scott Rockenfield it was the end of them
Geoff Tate is Queensryche and Eddie Jackson whole description of how things went down shows how petty they are to do that to someone they’ve known for 30 years.
Glad you paid such close attention to the details. Stay tuned and subscribe.
The best band ever,Love you Eddie
🤘
it was!!now just a sad cover band.
Agree👍....Geoff will always be the Queensryche in my heart and head....need to check out the Frontier album as Empire is where it ended for me
Mindcrime is pure perfection!
Queensrÿche without Chris, Geoff and now Scott is like the Beatles without John, Paul and Georges...the current QR is a good cover band though
Great video! My only complaint… too short. Ed Bass part 2??
He's right. Rage was finally a unique sound and approach.
Really wish you could have covered the three albums HITNF , Q2K and Tribe to get a sense of what they were going through with 80’s metal becoming less popular and then losing Chris. While not my favorite album, Q2K’s Right Side of My Mind is up there with the top songs QR created. It’s a hidden gem in my book.
next time Aaron - we will get it all next time - thx for watching.
In my all time top 10, possibly top 5 bands due to the chemistry they had.
Geoff is still my favorite singer and De Garmo was something very special.
Operation Mindcrime is still in my playlist if I'm on a deserted island.

3 full length albums and the EP before Mindcrime??? I think he lost track of what he was saying, lol.
I was thinking that too - they only had the EP, The Warning, and Rage For Order before Mindcrime.
Thank god I wasn't the only one that noticed, I was going crazy and even pulled up wikipedia to double check, even though I owned all of their releases on cassette and then on cd. He also repeated that mistake at least 2 times during the interview... no clue wtf he was talking about =p
I coulda passed it off as him doing what I always did, which is to refer to their first effort as an album (I don't see any real value in making a distinction between EP and album, as a consumer it's just an effing CD of their music either way), but he kept clearly saying yada yada "and also the EP". Who knows, mang.
@@erickknutz5599
Maybe he's taking too many prescription pain pills and is kind of out of it - that's the case with a lot of middle-aged people. Or maybe he had a few drinks before the interview and was just buzzed - lol I can't imagine an original and long-time member of a band making a mistake like that about their own discography.
The effects of whatever he puts on his head to straighten that hair.
@@whamsie4022
Wait, isn't that a wig? He's probably bald or at least partially bald at his age.

You rock man great vocals and great integration on the bass with what you do! See you in Huntsville Alabama in November!
You can’t replace Geoff Tate
I was part of the Tribe tour in 2003. The first show was at HOB in Anaheim. We are escorted to our dressing room where a full spread of food, wine, cigars, showers are waiting. We are thinking how great it is gonna be on tour with Queensryche. Geoff walks in, we exchange pleasantries and he leaves within 10 seconds. HOB rep walks in the dressing room, “sorry guys, this isn’t your dressing room”, then escorts us to our make shift dressing room which is a coat closet with a case of water on the floor. Played 38 shows with them. Our band was called Echo 7.
No replacing Geoff.
Im glad that eddie and the rest of the guys are happy they deserve it!!!!
He keeps adding an extra album.
These were the best two interviews I have seen in awhile. Eddies 5 string bass playing is amazing. His wives are very cool too! Love both his bands!
lol I noticed that too. Warning…Rage.
Great interview. LT is a fantastic vocalist. But how do replace perfection? You don't. Just think of it as Queensryche Part II. Then it makes sense.
