As one of the biggest Queensryche fans over the years, I couldn't agree more! I got here over the course of connecting dots on many recent artists and came across a cover of QotR which brought me to this video. I just so happened to expand the only comment that caught my eye that was 1 year old only to find out Mike posted 4 hours ago about Scott leaving. How does this happen?! Chris, Scott, original Queensryche told an amazing story over the years and I'm honored to have experienced the rise and fall in my lifetime!

I personally think that they gave Seattle a bad name. Jimi Hendrix was good, heart was good, and all of the Seattle bands all the early 90s, better known as grunge, or great! I thought Queensreich were boring! I did like the "Operstion Mindcrime" album. It was really good, but adide from that...too Heavy Metal starting out, and too boring from "Empire" on up.

Queensrÿche Queen Of The Reich Lyrics
    In the dead of night
She'll come and take you away
Searing beams of light and thunder
    Over blackened plains
    She will find her way
    Flying high through the night
    She will hide your fate
As she takes your soul from under
And the blinding light of the castle fades
    There is no escape
It's the ending of your precious life
    Your soul slipped away
It belongs to the Queen of the Reich
    The Queen of the Reich
    Yeah she's coming for you
    You're fading away
    Your life cast astray
A victim the beast shall obtain
    The light will not shine
For you'll die tonight at her shrine
And black is the last thing you'll see
    Over and over
Dreams of dying fill your head
It's the sign of the cross
    That you'll find ahead
    No one will answer
    The light is fading away
Captive souls are screaming out in pain
    There is no escape
It's the ending of your precious life
    Your soul slipped away
It belongs to the Queen of the Reich
You're fading away, No, No, No
    The Queen of the Reich
    You're slipping away, yeah
    The Queen of the Reich

I know others will say... Merciful Fate... etc... And some of that passes the grade... but nobody got it better that Geoff, and for that matter, when it come to arrangements, sound and over-all kicking ass, Original Queensryche is still among the top 10 Metal bands of all-time.

    Hi
Long time fan. I remember recording this video on VHS from MTV's Headbanger's Ball probably late '80's or early '90's. I watched it over and over.
I even had the Album on tape cassette.
I loved the videos like these. Some of the newer bands are going back to the older theatrical video formats.
I had always hoped to see another video that tied in with a continuation of Queen Of The Ryche.
Anyway, due to the fact that I had lost my VHS tapes when I became homeless for a few weeks back in 1996, I am so happy to find this video here on UA-cam.

This was a great era to be a teen. So much fantastic metal was out and coming out each month. Today .... I cant tell todays bands apart. This gem is from the days when bands all had a sound. You couldn't cover it accurately. Now any pub act can cover the so called top metal acts as they all have the same vocal and guitar sounds.

There are some pretty good bands out there today, but you have to look to find them. The popular "metal" scene is blah. The vocals all sound exactly the same. The sorry assed tone of the guitars too.

Washed away by all that Seattle rain. Ironic that the whole grunge thing came out of the same city that produced Queensryche.

When I was back in high school, KLOS of Los Angeles was giving away tickets to the first 100 callers to Queensryche at the Hollywood Palladium. A few weeks prior, for another concert, I had heard the DJ laughing at one of the winners who used the San Diego phone number to 'sneak' in for a win. So, I figured, what the heck; I dialed the San Diego number probably running up the phone bill for my parents, and voila! I won tickets. I couldn't get the car that night, so a metal head friend with an old 70's Cadillac Coupe de Ville hand me down car was invited, and it was quite the show. If I remember, the opening act was Carmine Appice's King Cobra. Oh, and I got a cassette of one of the albums which was played on the way home in my buddy's car, LOL

I love Queensryche, but let me make it clear that it's Queensryche with Geoff Tate and I would have preferred American Soldier came before they could have that wrong step into grunge that led to Chris De Garmo no longer in the band or has he come back? One thing is for sure- without Geoff I just don't see it. However, let me just say Queensryche is important to me hugely important. This was my first heavy metal song I loved. Back when I was only 8 or 9 years old and it was everything Queensryche for a long time. I didn't used to be able to sing at all, but now I can sing 2 octaves at least and it was Judas Priest, Queensryche, Iron Maiden, and softer bands not really metal that led to that. Practice practice practice. I think this band are probably a strongly good choice for most perfect and refined progressive metal band, but the grungy period was not something I could get into. It's sad he left and got really disillusioned again maybe for the last time.

This great bands name originally was The Mobs.. One of the first songs they wrote was “Queen of the Reich.” About a year later, The Mob was courted by Easy Street Records’ Kim and Diana Harris, and their manager urged them to change their name. Exhausted from trying to think of replacements, they settled on plucking a couple of words from the aforementioned track and then changing “reich” to “rÿche” (which can mean “realm”)

    Lyric :
    In the dead of night
She'll come and take you away
Searing beams of light and thunder
    Over blackened plains
    She will find her way
    Flying high through the night
    She will hide your fate
As she takes your soul from under
And the blinding light of the castle fades
    There is no escape
It's the ending of your precious life
    Your soul slipped away
It belongs to the Queen of the Reich
    The Queen of the Reich
    Yeah she's coming for you
    You're fading away
    Your life cast astray
A victim the beast shall obtain
    The light will not shine
For you'll die tonight at her shrine
And black is the last thing you'll see
    Over and over
Dreams of dying fill your head
It's the sign of the cross
    That you'll find ahead
    No one will answer
    The light is fading away
Captive souls are screaming out in pain
    There is no escape
It's the ending of your precious life
    Your soul slipped away
It belongs to the Queen of the Reich
You're fading away, no, no, no
    The Queen of the Reich
    You're slipping away, yeah
    The Queen of the Reich
